rise usagi (two of them) thing
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
can't decide if it's yuichi usagi or miyamoto usagi to use in the rise stuff, supposed to be using yuichi--but nah,
also fan idea for them is to be half siblings, same name, different last names. (rather than having m usagi to be a father figure or a grandpa, so half siblings it is!)
imma post a new one with tmnt 2012
(remind you--blushes in every or my posts are aesthetic choices and kawaii effect-- at times I didn't add blushes cuz I got lazy)

I have noticed some trends that the ROTTMNT fandom has hive-minded about.
Some are no-brainers, kind of a logical deduction, and others are humourously specific.
Leonardo hurts his (left?) knee after coming out of the prison dimension (why is it always the left knee?)
Donatello's shell was injured after being pulled/ripped out of the krang consol
Mikey's portal magic left him with some sort of nerve damage that causes tremors (and may require compression sleeves)
There is some sort of time dilation in the Prison Dimension (could be sped up/slowed down, and may be a minor/significant amount of time passed once Leo is pulled out)
Leo is the medic and has been so since a young age
Big Mama's assistant is Venus, and she would look like a female version of Leo (species/markings)
Donnie and Leo are really close and have some special twin relationship, unlike with Mikey and Raph
Leonardo has insomnia
Raph wakes up at 6 AM
Donnie is autistic (I had to add it anyways)
Donnie has a coffee addiction to a point of danger
Mikey has ADHD
Raph abuses punching bags /j
If Donnie had a tail, it would be long and thin
If Raph had a tail, it would look like an actual alligator tail instead of the tail of an alligator snapping turtle (macrochelys temminckii)
Leo is gay (sort of a no brainer but felt I should add it)
If any of the characters are trans, it's going to be a transmasc Leo
Mikey is the most likely to drown and die for some reason (makes sense with his species though)
All of the graffiti in the lair is done by Mikey maybe this was in an episode and I forgot I dunno
Regardless of whether his dynamic with Splinter is positive or negative, Baron Draxum is not allowed to be straight
Miyamoto Usagi is nonexistent, but Yuichi Usagi lives in the hidden city or something
Yuichi Usagi is employed by Hueso as a waiter
Future April wears and afro puff
Future Donnie has beard markings and is really tall and also swol af
Future Raph was Casey Jr's adoptive dad before he died
Casey Jr gets claustrophobic by the chaotic and busy streets of New York
Don has some robot body in the bad future (which is pulling from the 2012 plot)
Anything else to add?

Parallel Lines AU (TMNT X Usagi Yojimbo)
ok ok ok I woke up this morning before work in a cold sweat cuz this shit suddenly popped into my head. Okay so basics; No. 1 All Usagi's are related and from the same universe. No. 2 Time moves weird between dimensions which is how we get this AU of which I'm calling Parallel Lines. Aka inter dimensional travel + the fixed point in time continuity of Usagi's world never lets the Bunny and Turtle boi be together for long. Aka generational gay longing AU.
Tumblr media
So firstly I'm sort of splitting up the personality of Comic Usagi with 87 Usagi and 03 Usagi, though mainly its 03. So as seen on the chart 87 Usagi would be 03 Usagi's grandpa. He and 87 Leo became real close during his time in New York, like really really close, but unfortunately had to part ways in the end. Everybody noticed how different 87 Usagi was after his inter dimensional trip, a lingering sadness always present under a bold faced mask. As a child 03 Usagi always wondered about the ever present sadness in his grandpa's eyes. Then years later 03 Usagi joins the Battle Nexus and meets 03 Leo. At first its easy to stay in touch through dimensional portals and letters sent through them. Then the weird time shit starts happening, i.e. they notice that time moves a LOT slower in 03 Leo's dimension. Months between letters and visits turn into years for Usagi and the pain of essentially growing up separately leads them to drift apart. Leo still sends letters sometimes though he as no idea WHEN in time Usagi will receive it. Usagi cherishes each letter with all his heart. He now understood the deep sadness that lingered within his grandfather's heart was actually longing. Along all this Jotaro is born and grows and trains with Usagi's old master. And though their relationship is "complicated" they care deeply for each other as only father and son can and the loneliness 03 Usagi feels hurts a little less. He's is traveling with Usagi when Jei attacks the village and they need to transport Kintaro to the sacred temple. Then the Turtles attack, brainwashed, Usagi and Jotaro are able to snap them out of it and Usagi's heart soars as it did in his youth if only for just a moment. This Leo (2012) is different from his Leo (03) but he is also very similar as well and it hurts. It hurts to see an echoe of the man you onced loved, both young and heavy with the weight of responsibility of being leader, just as he had been. And it was bittersweet to see that same connection that had once been between them now find itself present in Jotaro and 12 Leo. He knew what the ending of this would be when the journey was over and as much as he wanted to save his son from the pain of it all he could not bare to get between them if it wasn't yet time to part. Jotaro has never met a person quite like 12 Leo, just as headstrong and passionate as well as a bit of a dork. Leo told Jotaro all about his adventures, both on earth and beyond the stars, and in turn Jotaro told Leo about his own life and adventures as a samurai in training. They could talk for hours without getting bored or just sit in silence watching the stars just enjoy the presence of each other. When they parted Jotaro felt a piece of himself leave along with Leo as well, worlds away and never to meet again. It reminded him of his father, of days where he was quiet and looked along the horizon looking for something. Something that now Jotaro will now be looking for, for the rest of his life as well. All is quiet for many years after, until Yuichi is introduced. I haven't seen Samurai Rabbit yet but its on my list of shit to do. But especially it would be Gay Longing Pt 4 with the same end result UNTIL....
Tumblr media
We get to our MM Turtles where finally FINALLY Leo and Usagi are in the same universe. But idk if I should wait until the new show comes out incase they do another Usagi crossover or say fuck it and make up my own OC and time line after I watch Samurai Rabbit? Pls feel free to suggest, add, or comment on this mess of gobbledygook as I wrote this all down half asleep and during my work lunch break 😅

This is a bit of a strange ask, but I'm still confused over Usagi's last name. Some tell me that is Miyamoto his last name and that Usagi is his first name... but then others tell me that Usagi is the family name 😂
Just wanted to ask.
hi
Gelu. You have no idea how long I've been waiting for this ask. I have been preparing for this very moment. I'm ready to answer this and I already know I'm going to fail miserably at explaining. Here goes.
Usagi Yojimbo. In the comics, "Miyamoto" is the surname / family name, we know this because his father is Magistrate Miyamoto. This makes our titular character Usagi, his first name.
Usagi Chronicles. In this animated series, we know that Yuichi is descended from Miyamoto. However, his name isn't "Miyamoto Yuichi", Yuichi is in fact his surname / family name. That means they both share the same first name, Usagi.
In Japanese fashion, the family name comes BEFORE the first / given name. Let's take George Washington for example. To do so properly, it would be "Washington George". So if we see "Miyamoto Usagi" and "Yuichi Usagi", that means their last names are in front of their first names. If you watch any Japanese shows or movies, they introduce themselves with their last name first and given name after, and people will call them by their last name. In TMNT 2003, he specifically introduces himself (and we will ignore the poor pronunciation of Japanese words including his own name) as "Usagi Miyamoto". This is so that the Western audience knows Usagi is his first name, Miyamoto last. (Also told the audience his last name was Miya-ma-to but uh. We're ignoring it, right?) This is not the proper way for him to introduce himself if he were being strictly Japanese… we say it's fine because it was for an English audience at the time, but this is the only time (that I can recall) his name being introduced in this way.
Typically in Japanese fashion, when you first meet someone or are on acquainted terms, you would only refer to them by their last name and add "-san" to the end, until you become closer and can use a different honorific or use their given name. However, all of the Usagi series have been adapted for western consumption, so they use their first names in all of this familiar media. The western version of "formal" or "polite" in a Japanese setting is taking the first name and adding "-san" to the end instead. So in 2003, Usagi calls Leo "Leonardo-san", and Leo calls him "Usagi-san" back. In 2012, the same thing. When you meet someone who is older than you in the west, you would usually say "Mr./Mrs./Mx. Lastname". That is the English equivalent of what "-san" is, loosely. I'm not sure why western media wants to flip names and add -san to it anyway, since we do use last names sometimes? Mr. Obama… Miyamoto-san. We can also chalk this up to relationships, as Leo and Usagi have been close in every iteration, perhaps they just went to the "first-name-basis" immediately. (copium)
I don't know if you've noticed, but there are a lot of Usagis! Even just 2 is too many, and I have 4! (Well, one was married in, but still.) In my case, I wanted to be able to have multiple samurai rabbits out in the world of Rise, but I couldn't have them all named "Usagi" unless that was all their last name-- which meant they all also had to be directly or indirectly related to each other. Which posed other problems, like… what about Magistrate Miyamoto?? Well.. he's still related, just differently. I know some important plot points get washed out when you move characters and their specific roles around, but that's exactly what ROTTMNT does, and excels in. So we do some problem solving, we write every idea down, and then we iron out the edges.
I am not an expert in the naming culture of Japan, though I can understand why people might be confused or spread misinformation as though they are correct. It takes just a little bit of reading and context to understand, which I hope I've been able to provide. TBH I still get confused, but that's because I am actively doing it differently by going against what it normally is.
TL;DR - Usagi is the first name in all published media, with Miyamoto and Yuichi both being family names. The proper way to introduce oneself in Japanese is [Last Name] [Given Name], which Miyamoto Usagi and Yuichi Usagi both follow this rule (and are both Japanese). In my fanon, I have too many Usagis in one time period, so Usagi is the family name and everyone can still keep their original name. Hope this helps!

i say fuck it, lets add my own version of usagi into the twins au
i really really like miyamoto usagi's crossover with 2012 and i dont want to change that. so along with the existence of yuichi usagi, i will add onto the usagi family tree with my own [version]
a counterpart in the 12 universe
a teenager as well, if you will...
while the 12 boys may meet miyamoto usagi in s5 as canon goes, they will also have already known and met "an usagi" in their own dimension
i'd say he appears after april & casey's introductions. younger than miyamoto, older than yuichi. placing him at the good age of 17
he's not a mutant, bc he's a descendant of miyamoto. he's in the 12 universe bc of the kraang, and also bc figuring out portals is a bitch. with no idea how to return home, he makes do with NYC, and stumbles upon the Hamatos as a result
but there's an important element to their meeting that i have yet to reveal :]

I was thinking about it and apart from publishing ships individually (like a one-shot for Leosagi and another for Leopril) I am also going to write all the ships together having a polyamorous relationship (it will be Leona x Usagi x April x Casey x Lotus), I am going to continue writing the ships individually, only now there will also be another parallel universe where the five, or four or three of them, ended up together.
Also, thanks to @sapphiretanto I decided to include the ship Yuinardo (2012 Leo x Yuichi), their story would be almost the same as my Usagi's, the turtles tried to contact Miyamoto-san but by accident they arrived in New Edo instead, Yuichi's group helped them and somehow they found a way to continue seeing each other between dimensions. And over time Leona and Yuichi became a couple.
For the moment I will not add Yuichi to the content of them having a polyamorous relationship but if at some point I do know that while he is in that relationship, Miyamoto (my Usagi) is not part of it, because that would be weird.
End of the announcement, tomorrow a compilation of incorrect quotes from those five together is coming, look forward to it, and if the idea bothers you, just don't read it. Have a good day/night 💖.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 3 for Switch?
An almost trope-like part of FF games is the fan craving for more and more of the that is, as well as Square Enix giving that, with just enough innovation to both stay stale and fresh, simultaneously seem unoriginal and being at the forefront. The structure changes to gameplay, change of narrative focus, new systems and change of platform focus (to handheld and mobile) are all aspects of this in the Final Fantasy Tactics series.
It's hard to scry whether we'll ever get a new Tactics game, but seeing as I really want that, I can at least speak to some of the important signs and potentials that might be in store for a Nintendo Switch release.
The Switch is an optimal platform, both for reasons noted earlier, and because it fits the current target platform for SQ (staying stale and fresh)
While FFT got kinda more famous for its PS1 release, it was at heart a new Tactics Ogre, a SNES game, seen by the return to all 2d gameplay on the GBA. The core as a 2d game (graphics don't dictate gameplay) was alright for the PS1, a machine that really didn't do 3d well.
The Switch though, is both a true 3d capable platform, and a touch screen device. This affords and requires rethinking input and perspective. Nintendo and Intelligent Systems observed the same with Code Name Steam.
The question then becomes: How does the small, tactical, chess slash miniature skirmish transition to the world of dual analog sticks, touch screens and capable 3d graphics?
None of this speak to any system that might be implemented or people who are gonna work on it and add their flavor (Yuichi Murasawa, the return of Matsuno?).
Skulls of the Shogun of course showed a more fluidly continues world, where the analog sticks mattered for controls, and the reimagining of XCOM from 2012 did a lot of what I'm talking about here, it truly feels more like a game rooted in the series own history and the preferences of western board games. Even a game like Lord of Magna: Maiden Heaven felt more like a continuation of the ideas of Nippon Ichi and their Phantom Brave or Disgaea series.
In fact, this train of thought is making me think of how fighting games haven't really been able to transition into 3d (gameplay) either, and keep their roots, as sort of overview and area-control-based gameplay becomes hard do an equivalent of in 3d.
A few different possible paths are beginning to become apparent
A traditional continuation, using something akin to modern versions of the graphics from Crystal Chronicles series. XCOM could be an inspiration source.
Taking inspiration from another already 3d capable genre, like how Code Name Steam takes the Gears of War-like direction.
Enter a more fluid, perhaps action-focused gameplay. This could even go as far as to make the series real-time like Little King's Story or Pikmin.
The quite Final Fantsy-like and yet super unorthodox: Develop a new system, perhaps looking at a different metaphor. The tactics games are clearly chess-like, and FFXII's gambit system was inspired by American Football. Perhaps there is a designer at Square Enix right now, thinking of sports and passtimes, looking for something with a tactical element in 3d space, that has yet to inspire a video game.
