Note
When you reblogged that Captain Kirk post from advertisingpics I actually thought it meant "view this post in Firefox and do some sort of 'view properties' and you'll see something funky about the origin of that image." Grrr.
Oh wow that was a long walk. Sorry about that.

LOOK AT DEARBORN'S BIG EYES are you dangling something or is she just looking at eternity
The secret is....I’m giving her a tummy rub. SHE LOVES TUMMY RUBS.

my cats are constantly crouching over the heating vents
I wish I could even offer that to mine. My vents are all on the ceiling! They’d have to be spider-cats!

IT’S FULL OF TUNA.
They hate salmon but love tuna. I have no explanation.
hyvetyrant replied to your photo “darkersolstice: advertisingpics: Ericofon, North Electric Company,...”
Not cheap, but this guy http://www.sqnewton.com/purchase.htm retrofits Ericofons with Bluetooth to pair with a cell phone.
I have never been sadder to see the figure “$600″ on the internet. 100% worth it, I get that he’s working with original materials and I support his small business in theory, and I WANT ONE, but I will never be rich enough to spend $600 on a telephone. (Admittedly I don’t give a shit if it’s original. I’d just like a replica!)

Hey! You really good!
Tumblr media
And finally, a special thank you to all of you. Too numerous to count, let alone fit in a few posts. And, because Read More does not function on the Tumblr app, the amount of thanks I need to make would just kill everyone’s little screens. So I’m just going to focus on Tumblr folk.... which is also pretty lengthy.
While every single follower who isn't a damned bot deserves a mention, my focus is on those who I tend to see in the notes pretty often, or have contributed to this blog in a meaningful way, and again, didn’t get their own special post. Some of you may have changed your username in the past five years so if you have been a long time regular, that may be why I didn’t recognize you.
Also, apologies if Tumblr decides to be fickle and not link your username at posting: I haven’t figured out why it does that. Also, if you’ve been around a long time and have shown this blog much love yet don’t see your name on the list, I apologize for that too.
Names appear after the browser-only read more. Mobile folk, better strap in...

Because of all the sources from around the web that I feel deserve a thank you, I’ll be steadily fixing up the ‘About’ page down the line, or just make a proper reference page. We’ll see.
But for now, thank you to everyone who has followed this blog over the past five years. Despite some occasional slumps, I have no plans of ending it. Here’s to a two-month old milestones, and many more fun years to come!

astralmouseart reblogged your photo:advertisingpics: 1978 Ad for the Tandy TRS-80 - a...
It’s about $2380 in today’s money. Horrifyingly expensive for something like this.
Expensive relative to what exactly?
By comparison to the Commodore PET 2001, and Apple II, the TRS-80 Model I was the most affordable option.  Tandy was leading all the other home computer companies by a factor of about five, due to the massive distribution & maintenance infrastructure they had with Radio Shack storefronts.  Price also played a factor there.  These were the first big three of the appliance computer boom of ‘77.  Sure, the Model I was the most technically limited, but it got the job done more or less.
