House Prasad traces its origins back to 17th century Early Modern Period India. Founded by House Leader and Patriarch Brayan Prasad, the Prasad family became a household name in the business of wine making. Upon meeting Damon Brando and striking a business deal in the early 1920′s, Brayan relocated to New Brando where he eventually found himself a mate in Reina Prasad (nee Krishna) and had two children: a daughter, Kaia, & a son, Zayan.

The Families of New Brando House Sferrazza | Tourism (est. 14th century - present day)

House Sferrazza traces its origins back to 14th century Renaissance Florentine Republic (Modern Italy). Founded by House Leader and Matriarch Gaetana Sferrazza, the House Madam made a name for herself by becoming a patroness of the arts. It wasn’t until she found her way to New Brando where she met David Schulz, who would then introduce her to the man she would call her mate, Ari Schulz, an artist who was running a quaint Bed and Breakfast. They would later have a young daughter, Monica.

The Families of New Brando House Viccari | Cuisine (est. 14th century - present day)

House Viccari traces its origins back to 14th century Renaissance Florentine Republic (Modern Italy). Founded by House Leader and Matriarch Isabella Viccari, her life has been left in a shroud of mystery. From the assassination of her first husband, to disappearing for nearly five centuries, and even the suspicious vanishing of her second husband after a divorce. There are only two things we know for certain about Madam Viccari: One, she takes her restaurant, The Crimson Lion, and all other business affairs with extreme seriousness, and Two, she will do anything and everything for the sake of her twins: Maddalena and Dario.

The Families of New Brando House Montolvo | ??? (est. 3rd century BC - present day)

House Montolvo traces its origins back to late 3rd century BC Ancient Greece. Founded by House Leader and Patriarch Silas Montolvo and his younger brother Marcus Montolvo, this House is currently the largest in New Brando so far. After a bitter divorce from his first wife Serafina Myrina, Silas relocated his family of 3 (Helene, Ajax, & Kassandra) to New Brando from Greece. It wasn’t long until he found a new mate in the human woman, Hiraya Marasigan (aka Camellia Pineda). 

Through reconciliation, House Montolvo also holds his first wife’s new family: husband Vittorio Adamson and twin sons Hector & Jason.

RQOTD: What is a random fact or piece of information about your story that you have been wanting to share but haven’t had a reason to share it?

hello anon thank you so much for the question!

here are some various random facts about the montolvo's universe:

Vampires, witches, and humans aren't the only beings within the Montolvo universe. The three are the most relevant to the Montolvo's story however so we won't be seeing many others. Without spoiling who (because I do want to get to their stories eventually), there is 1 werewolf hybrid who has already been introduced in the story. There is 1 mermaid who will be showing up within one of The Families of New Brando stories.

The Council members in particular have a lot of lore that probably won't ever be brought up naturally in the story. Orville, for example, was a pirate and he has a husband named Aldan, who works as an ambassador for New Brando. Orville is very private and protective of his family however, so they don't live in New Brando. Felix is from Australia and is the youngest of all the Council members, and he was also best friends with Marcus before they had a falling out.

THE MONTOLVO’S S1 TO S2 RELATIONSHIP CHART

I recognize this might be a little hard to follow at first, so I broke it down so you could see all the individual relationships as they stand right now in the story right before we get into Season 2. 

I made a color key to tell you what each color means. An important note though when it comes to the arrows: If it isn’t pointing in both directions, it means the feelings are one-sided (as we know it, that is).

As we already know, the three main friend groups are highlighted which are:

THE WORLD OF THE MONTOLVO’S | VAMPIRES (pt. 1)

Today’s first lore post about vampires will briefly cover the basics of how vampires are in the world of the Montolvo family.

THE FIRST VAMPIRE?

It’s currently unknown who was the first vampire to exist in the entire world. Each country has their own origin story and belief that’s followed. And even then, there’s a difference between the origin stories that humans believe versus the ones that actual vampires believe in. For example, the Montolvo family believes that the Amazons were the first born vampires, while the humans of Ancient Greece believed that the Amazons were a separate being. 

NOTABLE FEATURES?

All vampires are equipped with a pair of fangs and red eyes. There aren’t any exceptions to this for the most part (hybrids will be discussed in a future post). When a vampire is feeding, various dark scars appear around the eyes and the red shade turns almost black. 

BASIC ABILITIES?

All vampires share the same basic set of abilities: 

Enhanced Senses: All senses are extremely enhanced in comparison to a human’s, but the senses that are most sensitive are sight and sound. There are limits to this, however. Their extreme hearing works within a range of 50 feet, while vision is extended to a range of 80 feet. 

Extreme Strength: Strength varies depending on the age of vampire, but will always be 5x stronger than the average human. Newborn adult vampires match in the strength of adult vampires that are centuries old, but the older vampire will have more control over their strength in comparison to the newly turned.

Extreme Speed: See above. 

Extreme Healing: When wounded, vampires are able to heal at an impressive rate, provided that they weren’t wounded by something they’re weak to. They can also extend the ability to healing a human wound through their saliva, example: if a vampire feeds from a human and licks the bite wound, it will heal faster than if left alone.

Immortality: Vampires are immune to natural causes of death, and will only die should they be killed. 

Turning: All vampires are capable of turning a non-vampire through the use of a bite and injecting their venom into them. 

BASIC WEAKNESSES?

All vampires share the same basic set of weaknesses:

The Sun: The Sun is deadly to vampires, especially newborns who haven’t yet gotten used to their new selves. This can be counteracted, however, through the use of magical brands that allow vampires to walk during the day without any issue. These brands are strictly regulated and common in New Brando, and is usually seen on the back of the forearm. 

Garlic: Garlic isn’t deadly, but mostly just used as a deterrent. Garlic to vampires can be best described as like a non-lethal food allergy. They won’t die, but it gets annoying to deal with. 

Blessed Silver: Blessed Silver is the most common material used by vampire hunters. While regular silver also does the job, it takes longer and more hits with it to kill a vampire in comparison to Blessed Silver. 

Decapitation: Decapitation is the sure fire way of destroying a vampire within one blow. The Sun and Blessed Silver is deadly but it takes a while for it to kill the vampire. 

SPECIAL ABILITIES?

Every vampire has their own unique ability that isn’t common to the majority. It is extremely rare for a coven to have two of the same ability born to two different vampires. These abilities range and stem from a personal trait of the user, especially if they were a human-turned-vampire.

A few examples: 

Ajax Montolvo: Stealth. Ajax is able to completely hide his presence from others, vampires included. He doesn’t necessarily turn invisible, but he basically makes his target blind to his presence until he chooses to let them see him again. He can also make other people hidden if he activates the ability while holding them. 

Serafina Myrinna: Tracking. Serafina, Silas’ ex-wife and the mother of his three children, is an expert tracker. If she’s come into contact with her target once, she’s able to keep hold on their scent even if they’re on a different continent. This requires a great deal of focus, however. She can only track one target at a time. 

Marcus Montolvo: Lie Detection. Marcus is able to instantly tell if he’s being lied to or not. The ability acts as another sense to him and is almost always active. There are limitations that can be easily exploited if someone is aware of his ability, example: lies with some truth in them. With great focus, he’s also able to manipulate the chances of a lie being seen or not. 

VAMPIRES IN NEW BRANDO

New Brando was built to be a secret safe haven for vampires, and part of that comes with a strict set of rules that every vampire must follow while in the city-state. 

Each coven must be registered with the Council, and must undergo an approval process by Damon Brando himself. Its rare for Damon to turn away a coven for any reason, but it has happened before. 

Each individual vampire must be registered with the Council, and must have The Sun protection brand mentioned above. There is, again, an approval process for the brand that is tested by Damon Brando. 

If a vampire wants to turn a non-vampire, the Council must be notified first before the turning can happen. 

As mentioned in the New Brando lore post, it is forbidden for vampires to hunt humans for food. Animals are fair game so long as its done deep in the forests and mountains on the outskirts of New Brando. This rule is taken extremely serious, and punishment involves being removed from the city-state and, in worst cases, death of the coven.

THE WORLD OF THE MONTOLVO’S | NEW BRANDO

In today’s lore post of The Montolvo’s, I’m going to be talking about where exactly this story is taking a place: a city-state called New Brando.

WHERE IS NEW BRANDO LOCATED?

New Brando is located in what would be real-life Florida, and even more specifically the most southern part of it. In this story, I don’t strictly stick with pre-made Sim locations and geography. New Brando is an independent city-state on the continent of Northern America. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the east, and a neighboring city-state by the name of Brefast. 

WHEN WAS NEW BRANDO FOUNDED? 

New Brando’s origins date back to 1867. Originally beginning as just a regular city, it was founded by Damon Brando, a decorated lawyer graduate who just so happened to be a creature of the night himself. With the assistance of his growing coven, New Brando soon turned into a powerful city-state within decades. 

New Brando was founded as a secret safe haven for vampires. Damon Brando knew that he was the best person to create and rule over such a city, and thus he implemented a strong society that still stands to this day in 2020. 

WHAT IS IT LIKE IN NEW BRANDO? 

New Brando has a population of roughly 8,461,023, with about 48% of that population being vampires. Vampires still remain in secrecy in New Brando, despite its intention of being a safe haven. To the general public, they’re still just urban legends, but only a select few percentage of humans know the truth. 

The vampire-human relationship within New Brando, thanks to the strict policies that have been in place since the beginning, is surprisingly peaceful. It is absolutely forbidden for any vampire to hunt humans within New Brando. Damon Brando established this rule as it was imperative that vampires and their existence continue to remain safe from any potential threats. Instead, there are a multitude of Blood Banks available within the area. The humans who work at these Banks are part of the percentage that know about their true purpose. 

The vampire-vampire relationship within New Brando is, surprisingly, distant. Many vampire covens, such as the Montolvo coven, stick to themselves. It isn’t impossible for vampires of different covens to interact with each other, but due to just the general feelings of only being with trusted individuals, it isn’t as likely for such relationships to form easily. 

Culture-wise, New Brando has a lot of Mediterranean influence. While there are plenty of shared cultures within the city-state, majority of the architecture, historical sites, and restaurants are all Mediterranean. 

WHAT ARE THE AREAS IN NEW BRANDO? 

There are 4 major areas in New Brando: Old Brando Village, Fort Brando, Brando Hills, and New Brando City. 

Old Brando Village is a quiet village on the outskirts of the city itself. It is surrounded by the mountains and is nestled in the forest near Lake Damia. Old Brando Village was the initial starting point of New Brando, and after Damon expanded into where the capital city is today, the village was kept and upheld for those who preferred a more quiet lifestyle. 

Notable people who live in Old Brando Village are the Montolvo Coven and Camellia Pineda. 

Fort Brando is a large, stone fortress that resides hidden in the forested coast of New Brando. Locals and tourists alike journey to visit this fortress that had been created in the event of any wartime. Those who have visited will say that there’s no way to get inside of the fortress, which was done on purpose. Fort Brando has been used as the secret vampire council headquarters, and it is the current home of Damon Brando himself, who has not been seen by human eyes in a century. 

Brando Hills is similar to Old Brando Village where it is a quiet, countryside landscape on the outskirts, but it is inhabited by the rich vampire covens that have the money to pay for the elaborate mansions of the area. 

Last, New Brando City, or just simply called New Brando is the actual city that most people refer to. Majority of the population here is human. The city is most known for its elaborate nightlife, beautiful port side ocean views, and diverse marketplaces.

I have a question, Ajax, Kassandra and Helene were born as vampires or were they born as normal babies and later turned?

They were born as vampires! 

I’ve been meaning to delve more into my vampire lore to explain it, but vampires can procreate with each other/other supernatural beings just fine. Biological vampires (like the Montolvo kids and Serafina for example) have some differences from turned vampires (like Silas and Marcus) that’ll be further explained in an actual post. 

Usually tho when they refer to “newborns”, they’re referring to newly turned vampires who were originally human.

THE WORLD OF THE MONTOLVOS | VAMPIRES & HUMANS

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these! Today’s lore post will be covering the relationship between vampires and humans! 

As we all know, humans have always been the primary source of food for vampires. They still remain so to this day, but it’s become more popular within the last few centuries to move towards other alternatives instead of human blood. There are multiple societies around the world that even ban hunting humans within their boundaries, with New Brando being the largest and most successful with enforcing their laws. 

VAMPIRE EFFECTS ON HUMANS

Vampires have multiple effects on humans, which include but aren’t limited to: 

High Attraction: All vampires tend to attract attention to themselves simply because their looks are deemed to be more “attractive” than the regular human’s. The way this attraction works (if its romantic or platonic) depends on the person, but it basically just draws them in towards the vampire. 

Heightened Emotions: One of the reasons why there’s such a strict ban on hunting humans is because of the effect they feel when they’re being fed from. When a vampire feeds, whatever emotion the blood source is feeling is heightened to extreme ends. If they’re terrified, their fear becomes so strong that just that feeling alone can kill them, not even the physical act of getting their blood taken. It’s been deemed so cruel towards humans that that’s why it’s one of the reasons for the bans. 

On the other side of the spectrum though, it’s been a popular act to do while with a consenting blood source. If they’re happy while being fed from, that happiness just becomes so refreshing and ecstatic for them. 

Pregnancy/Child Birth: A vampire-human pregnancy is incredibly dangerous and complicated. For starters, a vampire can not get pregnant by a human, but a human can get pregnant by a vampire. But even if a human is able to get pregnant, the pregnancy is very violent and usually results in the human dying during or before child birth. It is extremely rare for a human to survive their pregnancy and child birth. 

VAMPIRE-HUMAN RELATIONSHIPS IN NEW BRANDO 

New Brando has seen an increase in vampire-human romantic relationships within the last half century, mostly in young people. A lot of the new vampire families that you see around New Brando originally consisted of a vampire-human couple that was turned so they can begin their family safely. 

It is always preferred, especially by the Council, to go this route given the dangers and complications of trying to start a family while they’re still a human.
