Charles thinks looking at Lewis shouldn't affect him this much anymore. They've been on the grid together for years, they've talked a million times, they've even gone for a run together a couple of times when Lewis was in Monaco, and yet.

And yet. It's Lewis Hamilton. He is beautiful, and he's nice, and he's always kind to Charles, and when he says "Well done Charles, you drove magnificently, you got this, kid," in his ear as they hug after the race, Charles feels his cheeks heat up and hopes everyone ascribes it to the exertion of the race.

He goes up to the podium, waves at the crowd. It's not a win, but a podium is a podium. He'll do better. Then, Lewis comes out, waving. Charles smiles as he watches him pass, at ease in his skin and beaming like he'd just won. Charles has no doubt he will win again. His body itches to race Lewis properly again.

Lewis climbs on the podium and Charles didn't even notice he hasn't looked away until Lewis' eyes meet his.

Charles has noticed the gap in Lewis' smile a long time ago. He thinks it's adorable. He thinks he wants to lick it with his tongue.

Lewis winks at him and Charles drops his gaze. When he gets the champagne, he goes straight for Lewis, who giggles and gives as hard as he gets.

I think some things are inevitable, Charles thinks and raises his head up to the sky. It's a lovely day.

There will be more lovely days. He knows it in every cell of his body. There will be more days like this.

this has been on my mind a while and i blame the c2 server completely 🙈 also, this.

"I will marry him," Charles had said to his brother, "I will marry him for your sake, and for Arthur's, but don't expect me to be joyful about it."

Charles thinks on these words as he gets ready for bed. He thinks about the way Lorenzo's face fell, and about how tightly he had hugged Charles.

He takes off his clothes until he is left in an undershirt. He thinks about removing that too, but he still does not believe that Señor Sainz - Carlos, they agreed on using their given names, but it's difficult, and it breeds familiarity, and Charles is afraid of what that might mean - that Carlos will not try something. Men who hold all the power always do. They arw used to taking, and Charles does not want to be put in the position where he has to give - himself - unwillingly.

His breath trembles as he approaches the bed. Señ - Carlos is in it already, in his own undershirt. Charles barely meets his eyes as he climbs in. Looking into them in the church during the ceremomy has already been too much. His gaze is very intense amd Charles does not know how to feel about the emotions he thinks he may find there.

He lays down under the covers, heart racing, and pulls the covers closer. His back is turned to Carlos and he cannot close his eyes. He does not dare.

He feels the bed move behind him and his heart skips a beat. Carlos' breath tickles his cheek as he moves closer, almost close enough to touch, but does not.

"Do not worry," Carlos says, and his voice is too close and too low and too intimate in their bed. "I will not come closer. We have an agreement." He chuckles. "Some other day... well. Good night."

Carlos' breath is warm on his skin, even through Charles' shirt. His cheeks heat up, reddening as he says "Good night" back, barely stopping his voice from trembling.

He keeps looking straight ahead. Carlos' body feels close enough to touch, if only he were to move a bit further back. There is a feeling of anticipation in the air, and Charles realises he trusts Carlos to keep his word. Trusts him not to touch unless Charles invites him to.

What a peculiar thought, he thinks.

Charles cannot help the smile that appears on his face. He falls asleep still smiling, confident in being safe for the first time in a long, long while.

my opinion is that it should have died a long time ago and that everything they do is just abusing the corpse of a frankensteined thing that should have been left and buried a long time ago.

now, i am not that much up to date. i have stopped engaging with mcu after endgame, with the exception of watching the forst season of loki and wakanda forever and i think the eternals, which is good if its taken out of the wider context. my opinion is that the mcu is empty and soulless and a perfect indoctrination into individualist capitalism, warmongering patriarchy and the greedy capital-driven urge of mega corporations and billionaires to replace any sort of humanity with artificially, computer made caricatures of something that once moght have been called art.

i remember that article that tom hiddleston wrote as a response to i believe scorcese sometime way back in 2012, defending superhero movies. i am too lazy to find any refetences so whoever reads this can do their own research and correct me if im wrong anywhere, but i do believe he gave sir christopher reeve as an example. he wrote about the thruths that superheroes explore, how there is not one, but many. how it is the mundanity and the pure humanity that gets amplified and therefore explored and understood through the characters of superheroes, and it all brings us closer to the human experience. that article has stuck with me through all the years ive spent watching these movies and believing in the message - we are all superheroes in our own way. we all make choices, no matter on how much of a micro scale, to do the right thing. to protect, to shield, to fight against injustice. art is, after all, inherently political.

there is none of that in the mcu. ive seen it being chipped away piece by piece over the years, seen the ethical and moral dilemmas we all face in day to day life brought on the big screen to make us understand that there is always a choice, no matter how tough that choice may be, and that every single one of us is capable of both the biggest heroism and the most depraved atrocities, because we are, in essence only human; i have seen all that be replaced with american capitalist war and conquering propaganda, girlboss empty feminism and whatever the fuck those shit "christians" are now pandering and paddling as "family values".

the only god disney worships is obscene amount of money. the only value they respect is how little they can pay and how much they can exploit to get highest monetary value for their shitty cgi-ed recycled propaganda movies. they have turned every character into a twisted version of themselves, assigned value to only those characters who help them propagate their imperialistic capitalist world order, and are fine to spit out dozens of same content (because by now, it is content, devoid of any artistic ideation) and stomp on all that superheroes used to stand for and all that they used to teach us. they also do it in a most insidious way, giving token "other" characters, be it by their race or faith or sexual orientation or gender, while counting on the systematic lowering of critical thinking skills in people to ensure people are dazzled by the shallow representation and never look further away from the rainbow cgi and explosions to understand that mcu has become just another cog in the us imperialist war machine.

i lied. i looked up tom hiddleston's article because i think a shakespearean actor classically trained who quotes tolstoy for fun might have written a better punchline than i could write, in my despondent, disappointed and despairing state of seeing something i've loved with my whole heart be ruined ny human grief. i was right.

except. except i believe in real life superheroes. in the people protesting against the genocide in gaza. in the people on the ground risking their lives to tell us in the west, about sudan and palestine and uyghur muslims and armenia and congo, in a bid that we might turn our heads and watch the actual real life crises caused by the very imperialists who use these superhero movies to try and save their status quo of opression. i believe in a man who chose self-immolation over being party to the atrocity that is the us military. i believe in my friends in germany who go out every weekend and fight against the rising nazi regime. i believe in every person that has spoken out against the atrocities in the world, every person that has donated and educated and debated and wrote to the representatives and protested. and they still do it, and will continue to do it. these people are the real superheroes to me, and guess what? they are just humans. and those people comitting atrocities right now? they are just humans too.

this is what the superhero comics and movies that i used to watch taught me. that humans are those who have the capacity for the biggest heroism and most despicable atrocities both. we just have to choose. and that is not something that anyone will be able to learn from the mcu anymore.

You know, I thought of just blocking you but like, I kinda am agressively anti-American, and here's why: I'm fucking sick of America. Sick of the US imperialism, sick of the opportunistic warmongering, sick of the US constantly sticking its greedy fucking fingers everywhere and bringing only death and destruction on nations, cultures, and most importantly peoples all over the world. I'm sick of the war profiteering, I'm sick of the globalising monopoly the US has on everything, I'm sick of the "humanitarian missions" that are just colonialism and genocide rebranded. I'm sick of the "democracy" that is lauded as something to aspire to when the country is actively hostile to its own citizens at best and ruinous for any other country it invades in the name of "holy crusade to bring democracy" which we've known since at least the '00s if not even before is a code for "lets rob, displace, dispossess and kill people and land to get more [insert whatever resource we need to make a profit]". I'm sick of the way US "culture" has permeated every centimetre of the public sphere, how it's unavoidable and how it seeks to devaluate and invalidate and even eradicate any and every other culture and tradition completely.

“Look at me!” Charles yells, his voice shaking. Sebastian doesn’t want to, but he raises his eyes nonetheless, because he’s been a coward his whole life but he cannot refuse Charles. He owes him that much, and more. He owes him something he can never repay.

“You were there with them on the night when my life fell apart,” Charles says, and Sebsatian can hear his father’s steel in his voice. His eyes are full of tears when he delivers the final accusation, the one that’s been haunting Sebastian for a decade. “You were there when Jules died.”

He could not have chosen a more painful lie than that truth. Sebastian wants to console Charles, who is now shaking. He wants to defend himself. He wants to lie.

But Sebastian doesn’t lie to Charles. That was the promise. Sebastian doesn't lie to Charles. Not anymore.

“Yes,” he says quietly, his shame palpable. "I was."

He sees the clicking of the camera but can't stop laughing because he's - he's as happy as he gets these days. A podium, and Pierre with him on the plane, and nowhere to be for at least twelve more hours.

Pierre's eyes sparkle. "I do," he says, and there's an undertone there that makes Charles flush and does nothing for the half-hysterical giggles he can't stop producing. "This time. Next time maybe you will."

Charles shuffles in his seat, thankful his sweatpants are very comfortable and not tight at all.

"Sure," he says, smiling too wide. "You know it."

When Pierre winks at him and licks his lips, Charles sends him a kiss and devolves into giggling again.
