Charles thinks looking at Lewis shouldn't affect him this much anymore. They've been on the grid together for years, they've talked a million times, they've even gone for a run together a couple of times when Lewis was in Monaco, and yet.

And yet. It's Lewis Hamilton. He is beautiful, and he's nice, and he's always kind to Charles, and when he says "Well done Charles, you drove magnificently, you got this, kid," in his ear as they hug after the race, Charles feels his cheeks heat up and hopes everyone ascribes it to the exertion of the race.

He goes up to the podium, waves at the crowd. It's not a win, but a podium is a podium. He'll do better. Then, Lewis comes out, waving. Charles smiles as he watches him pass, at ease in his skin and beaming like he'd just won. Charles has no doubt he will win again. His body itches to race Lewis properly again.

Lewis climbs on the podium and Charles didn't even notice he hasn't looked away until Lewis' eyes meet his.

Charles has noticed the gap in Lewis' smile a long time ago. He thinks it's adorable. He thinks he wants to lick it with his tongue.

Lewis winks at him and Charles drops his gaze. When he gets the champagne, he goes straight for Lewis, who giggles and gives as hard as he gets.

I think some things are inevitable, Charles thinks and raises his head up to the sky. It's a lovely day.

There will be more lovely days. He knows it in every cell of his body. There will be more days like this.

Honestly growing up is realizing that normal people don’t have to set timers to remember they’re cooking ramen… which notoriously only takes 3 minutes to cook… and maybe I do have adhd

#Trying to explain to my sister in law that I sometimes accidentally set a microwave time to 1 minute when I mean for it to be 20 seconds #and I go ‘oh it’s fine I will just stop it at 20 seconds’ #but then in those 20 seconds /I then forget I’m cooking something/ #bc my attention is drawn away #and next thing I know I’ve got a cookie that’s literally on fire in the center #and the way this is such a common thing for me #(not necessary w a cookie lol. But the cookie one has happened enough that I’ve legit set off multiple fire alarms w it) #Or yeah the fact that I p much /have/ to set a timer for pasta bc I will 100% forget I’m making pasta if I don’t #Or the literal HELLSCAPE that is laundry bc there’s so fucking many steps to it and it’s soooooo easy to forget it in the washing machine #I was just proofreading these Fucking tags and I forgot the word ‘forget’ in the one abt pasta #I laid out all my evidence that I’ve secretly squirreled away for 10 years to my sister in law #and she just went O.O yeah I don’t think you’re hallucinating it; this isn’t normal #and it was v validating #I just don’t want to seem like I’m saying it for clout or what the fuck ever but I’ve struggled with this my whole life #but on the other hand it’s no longer as big of a deal now that I’m not in school… school was bad.. nowadays more than ever im noticing myself picking up habits and words from people around me for e.g. i keep saying "whatever" in the same voice and pronunciation as my professor (my love), i keep saying "man".... all the time.... like a girl i know does, i can't say "ummmm" without thinking of you and our interviews, i keep noticing myself sitting like my dad or my grandma, i keep twirling my hair like my mom

i think theres such an inane kind of love in that. in taking habits and words from people you love and/or are surrounded with,, i only mentioned examples of people still in my life (save from my grandma) but even with people no longer in our lives, and i think thats how people live on forever

but the example with "man" makes me think like.... everyone lives in everyone. humans are social creatures, yes, but its not until things like this are made apparent that i think about how deeply deeply imbedded we are in each other's lives, not even mentioning familial or ethnic(?) traditions and culture

yeah.

i sound like my dad when im serious or giving a lecture and i sound like my mom so much sometimes bff always laughs at me. i use the sayings my grandparents used to tell me in the same tone of voice. there are so many pieces of so many people that have come and gone through my life and it's the most wholesome thing ever. i love that for you.
