pairing: colby brock x reader

summary: the reader feels like colby is replacing her with amber.
word count: 1,769
warnings?: feelings of replacement
note: this takes place in a world without a pandemic. if you want to request I write anything, you can do so: here. prompt list is: here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You prided yourself in being very secure in your relationship. You knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that Colby loved you. You knew that he would never do anything to jeopardize your relationship. You’ve seen a flurry of attractive, wonderful women come in and out of his life, but you never once felt like you were at risk for losing him. You’d dated each other for nearly three years now. If you could last that long with a guy in social media, you could last through anything that came your way. After all, you loved each other and that was all that mattered.
That is, until you returned from studying abroad. You’d spent the spring semester studying in Grenada to complete the last few requirements for your Spanish minor. You’d loved every second of your semester in Spain, but you really began to miss Los Angeles. There were so many things that you were missing out on back home. You and Colby previously shared an apartment, but he and Sam bought a house for all of the trap boys and you to share. You didn’t even get to see the house before the move, much less move your belongings there and make the space your own. You could only trust that Colby hadn’t been getting totally dreadful decorations for your shared room. You missed birthdays, celebrations, and huge moments in your friends lives. There was only so much FaceTime calls and text messages could do given the major timezone differences.
So, when you entered the new Trap House, a day earlier than Colby expected due to you and Sam wanting to surprise him, you expected to spend hours with your boyfriend catching up on thing you both had missed out on.
That’s not what happened.
You went up to yours and Colby’s room, pushing the door open and yelled, “Surprise!”
Colby, who was in the process of grabbing his keys, jumped. He stared at you, wide eyed, for a moment before saying, “Y/N, you’re home!”
He pulled you into a bone-crushing hug as you buried your face in his chest, giggling.
“I missed you so much,” you said, looking up at him.
“I missed you too,” Colby said, kissing the top of your head.
You pulled out of the hug, taking a moment to gaze around the around. It...didn’t look bad? In fact, it looked like he actually put in effort to decorate. “Oh, wow, the room looks great!”
Colby beamed. “Thanks! Amber helped me decorate.”
“Amber?”
Colby hummed. “Mhm. Amber Scholl.”
You knew the name. You’d seen her around at parties and other influencer events. You never spoke to her personally, but she seemed like a sweetheart. What you didn’t know was that she was friends with your boyfriend. “Well, she did a great job.”
“I’ll let her know you think so,” he said. “I’m actually about to go have lunch with her. Wanna come with?”
Your heart dropped slightly, but you shook off the feeling. “Uh, I was actually hoping we could rest for the day and talk about things we missed out on.”
Colby nodded, and for a moment you thought he understood. Then, he said, “Alright, you stay in and rest. We’ll catch up after you get over your jet lag.”
And with a chaste kiss to your lips, Colby left the house.
You spent the rest of the day unpacking, placing your belongings in the places Colby left empty for you. At some point, Sam joined you, asking where Colby had gone. When you told him, Sam was immediately apologetic, swearing he thought Colby had an open schedule for the day. You didn’t totally mind though, knowing that you and Colby had all the time in the world to spend together now that you were back.
At least, that’s what you thought.
As the days passed by, it seemed like Colby was glued to Amber’s side. Any time you wanted to be with him, he was going out to lunch with Amber, or doing a video with her, or going shopping. Since when had that man gone shopping that much? It was like he didn’t even want you in his life anymore. Not when he had Amber.
When you finally met Amber, you were prepared to hate her. You wanted to hate her. You wanted with every fiber in your being to hate her, but when she waltzed into the house with that sweet smile and cheerful demeanor, any bad thought you may have had before was washed away.
God, you wished she was a bitch.
It was after that that the panic began to set in. Was Colby actually trying to get rid of you? Why else would be not be around as much? You hardly saw him outside of breakfast and bedtime. He was a ghost that you could only get the shortest glimpses of.
One day, the boys wanted to have a small get-together with the entire friend group. Everyone gathered in the Trap House, everyone having a grand old time. Everyone except you.
You sat at the edge of the pool, dangling your feet in the water, listening to your boyfriend laugh and carry on with Amber fucking Scholl. He had barely spared a glance your way since she had arrived. It was like you didn’t exist in his life anymore.
Finally sick of your heart aching, you left the pool and retreated into the kitchen. No one else was there, so you were free to sulk for however long you wanted. But, it seemed like wherever you went, Amber was sure to follow.
You watched her as she got a glass of water, a question bubbling inside of you. A question you so desperately wanted the answer to, but a question you knew that would fully break your heart if she told you the thing you were scared to actually know. But you couldn’t help yourself. You refused to be an insecure girlfriend for a second longer.
“Hey, Amber, can I ask you something?”
No turning back now.
“Sure, what’s up?” she asked, smiling.
You blurted out your question before you could second-guess yourself. “Do you like Colby?”
She frowned, her brows furrowing together.. “Of course I like him, he’s a great friend.”
“No. I mean, like, are you interested in dating him?”
Her jaw dropped. “No, of course not! Why do you think that?”
Your lip wobbled and you felt the tears about to spill out of your eyes. “It’s just...Ever since I got back to LA, he’s always with you. It’s like I’m still in Spain and he doesn’t need me around anymore. And it sucks, cause you’re so nice and pretty and funny and an all-around good person and I could totally understand if he replaced me with you because you’re so much better than me and—”
Amber’s arms were thrown around you before you could finish. “Shh, shh, don’t say that. You’re an amazing, incredibly intelligent woman with the most stunning beauty inside and out. Colby would be a fool to let you go, and I can assure you that I’m not trying to take your place in the slightest.”
“I...I...I just feel like I’m so easily replaced,” you sobbed into her shoulder, holding her tightly.
She pet your hair, shushing you. “Don’t put yourself down like that, baby. No one could ever replace someone so special. And if they did, they’d be throwing away the most precious of gems.”
You stayed like that for what felt like hours, sobbing as she comforted you, whispering reassurances to you.
“What’s going on in here?”
Amber pulled away slightly, forcing you stand a little straighter and see that your boyfriend had entered the room.
The second he saw your puffy eyes and tear-streaked cheeks, he was by your side, pulling you out of Amber’s arms and into his own. “Are you okay?” he asked, rubbing a hand up and and down your back.
“I’m gonna go. Yell if you need me,” Amber whispered to you, patting your shoulder gently.
When she was out of the room, Colby tilted your chin up slightly so you’d look at him. “What happened, baby?”
“I...I felt like Amber was taking my place in your life.”
“What?”
“Ever since I got home, you’ve always been with her. It’s like you don’t care to spend time with me, even though we haven’t seen each other in months. I don’t know when the last time we sat down and just hung out with each other was.”
Colby looked like he was about to cry himself. “I didn’t realize I was making you feel so awful,” he said, wiping away a stray tear on your face with his thumb.
“It’s okay,” you mumbled.
“No it’s not,” he gently argued. “I’m your boyfriend. I’m supposed to be making you feel loved and appreciated, but here I’ve been, being awful.”
“That’s not true—”
“It is true, considering you’ve been in here crying about me,” Colby said. “Come on, let’s ditch the party. I need to start being a good boyfriend again.”
“No, we don’t have to leave the party because of me—”
He had already swept you up bridal-style, carrying you up to your shared room. He sat down on the couch, holding you on his lap. He peppered soft kisses all over your face until you were a giggling mess.
“I love you so, so much, baby,” he said, moving you so you were straddling him. “Please don’t ever forget how much I care about you.”
“I love you, too,” you said, placing a kiss along his jawline. “I love you more than you could ever imagine.”
“I think I can imagine, considering you were just sobbing at the thought of me not loving you anymore,” he joked, earning a snort from you. “I would never, ever throw away this relationship, just so you know. Being away from you for all those months sucked, and I had to get used to a life without you by my side everyday. But they were fucking hell, and I started to hang out with Amber to distract from that pain. But she could never take your place as number one girl in my life.”
You smiled, leaning your forehead against his. “Well, I think you have a lot of making up to do if you want to prove your point.”
“Well, then I better get started,” he grinned, pulling you back in for a kiss. “I gotta make sure I treat my girl like a goddamn princess.”

The One That Got Away - Colby Brock
Read Part 1 if you haven’t already. This is a second part to that story.
Y/n and Colby discuss what was heard the other night and decide to wait a little before trying a relationship. Later down the road, the two may have missed their shot.
Warnings: some curse words; mentions of alcohol and drinking, suggestive
Word Count: 4.2k+
--------------------------------------------------
<PART 1
“What are you doing here? You weren’t supposed to get here until next week!” Colby shouts after opening the door. He picks me up in an embrace and swings around with me in his arms.
“Surprise! I came early!” I awkwardly chuckle. He sets me down and shows his confusion all over his face when we pull away.
“What’s up? That was the fakest sounding excited voice I’ve ever heard come out of you.” He pulls me inside his apartment to the couch and we sit down. The awkwardness radiating off of me was filling the room. I don’t know how to go about this or how to start this? What do I say? ‘Hey Colby, I was coming to confess my love for you and tell you I’m ready to be with you, but instead I heard the God awful moans of the girl you were slamming yourself into.’ I can’t say that. He’s looking at you, y/n, waiting for something. Say something, damn it.
“So, I actually came in yesterday afternoon. Jake picked me up and said Tara really wanted to meet me, so I hung out with them last night and stayed over there,” I say. Way to go, y/n, you didn’t even touch on the problem at all. I mentally facepalm before Colby speaks.
“Where’d you sleep? There isn’t much room over there,” He chuckled lightly. I let a small smile show on my lips before answering him.
“I’ve slept with Jake before, but I felt weird about it since he has Tara, so I took the couch. Plus, Jake sleeps with Taco Bell packets and God knows what other food and random shit is in that bed with him. The couch was probably the safest option anyway.” I tell him as I giggle at Jake.
“Yeah, I found a chocolate chip cookie with a bite taken out in there one time.” We laugh together before it sets in that I have to bring up what I heard last night.
“Okay, but the real reason I came early was because I had to tell you something. I wanted to tell you that I was ready to be with you.” I watch as his face grows red and his smile seems off, like he’s happy to hear the news, but something’s stopping him.
“You said ‘wanted’ and ‘was’ as in past tense,” He mentions as his normally happy blue eyes appear sad.
“Yeah because when I came over here to tell you that last night, I heard that you were um… busy.” The words felt gross in my mouth and his expression faltered when I spoke them. He felt guilty from what I could see.
“Oh… Y/n, I’m sorry-” I cut him off before he can say anything else.
“You don’t have to be sorry. We weren’t together. We aren’t together. You didn’t do anything wrong. I just wish I would’ve come sooner and maybe that wouldn’t have happened. I took too long to get over Ryder. It’s my fault,” I finish, and he shakes his head.
“No, y/n, it’s not. I should’ve waited, but I wanted you so much and you weren’t here, so I felt like I had to do something else to get you off my mind, but it didn’t help. I still could only think about you.”
“Ew, gross.” We both chuckle before getting back to the serious topic of discussion. “I love you, Colby, but I don’t know if now is a good time for us,” I say as I look down, trying to force my tears to stay back.
“I hate to say it, but I agree with you, y/n. Maybe we should wait on us,” He says, and I nod, bringing my gaze back up to him. Hearing him say that broke my heart even more if that’s possible, but he’s right. I’m right. Now isn’t good for us. But there will be an us. Just not now.
“I’m going to stay at Jake’s for a few days, and then I’ll come over here like we always do, okay?” I say and he nods as I stand up to go back to Jake’s apartment.
...
“I can’t believe you are getting married tomorrow!” Katrina shouts as she finishes curling my hair and running her fingers through it. “Also, have I ever told you that I love your hair? It’s so soft.” I roll my eyes at her sarcasm.
“Yes, Kat. You have told me numerous times that you love my hair. And I can’t believe it either! Do you think Colby hates me for it?” I question, letting my true feelings on the topic show.
“He could never hate you, y/n. I know you guys went through a bit of a rough patch around Jake’s birthday two years ago, but he could never ever hate you. He loves you too much to do that,” She consoled my feelings a little.
“Yeah, but we said we’d make us work later on down the road and then I met Cameron and we hit it off and are getting married tomorrow and Kat, I don’t know. I feel like I lied to my best friend. I feel like shit for not trying harder to make an effort for us to work. What if I’m doing the wrong thing? What if Cam and I are moving too fast? What if I mess everything up by saying ‘I do’ tomorrow? Kat, what do I do?” She looks at me with wide eyes before handing me my glass of wine.
“You drink some of this and calm down. You are doing the right thing. You have let your heart decide everything and it hasn’t let you down yet, so keep going. And it’s not like Colby hasn’t been with other people in the past two years either. He was with Shea for a little bit, then Amber, and what was that other girl’s name?”
“Danielle? I hated her,” I say, rolling my eyes. My face shows nothing, but pure disgust.
“Yeah, we all did, but that is beside the point. You and Colby will be fine. You two will still be best friends for the rest of your lives. Marrying Cameron is not going to change that. All that is going to do is promise that your other best friend is going to be bound to you for life. Colby just won’t be legally bound to you like Cameron will be,” She chuckles before sipping on her own wine.
“Well there is a piece of paper buried at Colby’s house in Kansas that we both signed stating that we would be best friends forever, so if he decides to ditch me, I’ve got something on him,” I smile, remembering that day we made that pact to never leave each other and made sure to sign that paper. We made Colby’s dad look over it and sign it as well to make it official because to us if he signed it, then there was no backing out of it.
“Wait, really? You’ve never told me about that.” I nod at her and we share a small laugh before my phone begins to buzz on the bathroom counter.
“I’ll let you two love birds talk while I go get a refill,” Kat says as she holds up her glass towards me before exiting the room. I shake my head at her before answering the Facetime call from my soon-to-be husband.
“Hello, gorgeous!” Cameron shouts at me. A blush rises to my cheeks at the compliment and a smile spreads across my face.
“Hey handsome, are you having fun at Derek’s with the boys?” I ask him as I return him with a nickname as well. Based on the slight redness of his face and gleam of sweat on his forehead, I can tell he’s been drinking some.
“Yeah, we’re having a bit of fun, but I’d be having a whole lot more fun if you were here.” I roll my eyes at him.
“Well, we are going to have the most fun we’ve ever had together tomorrow,” I tell him.
“Yeah, I am looking forward to that,” He says as he winks at me. Before I can respond, I hear random yelling coming from somewhere on his end.
“What the fuck was that?” I ask, eyes wide in concern. Cam faces me after seeing what all the commotion was about.
“Steven was playing some video game and was close to winning but lost at the last second,” He informs me, and I nod understandingly.
“Oh okay, well I’ll let you get back to your fun babe. I’ll talk to you later, okay?”
“I love you, y/n y/l/n,” He says with the biggest grin on his face.
“That’s y/n Gardner to you. Well, at least that’s what it’ll be tomorrow.” His smile grew bigger when I said that.
“Yes, it will be. I love you, Mrs. Gardner. Have fun with your friends,” he spoke sweetly before blowing me a kiss and ending the call. I smiled to myself before leaving the bathroom and heading downstairs.
“Surprise!” I hear several people yell as I turn on the light when I get to the bottom of the steps. I look around to see all of my friends, holding balloons and throwing confetti in the air as they go crazy screaming. There was a congratulations sign that was hung on the wall and everyone had ring pops on their fingers.
“Sam, I thought I asked you to keep everything simple. Just a normal pizza night and you could do a little something. Not all this,” I remind him as I look around at everything.
“It wasn’t me. This was all Colby,” Sam informs me, and Colby smiles proudly.
“Yep. It was all me and you deserve it, so we aren’t having a normal pizza night. We are celebrating your last night as a free woman,” He states as I go to give him a hug. My arms wrap tight around his neck as his do around my waist. He picks me up a little as he always does and swings around too.
“You didn’t have to do all this,” I say as he sets me down and I get another good look at everything he did. I couldn’t help the tears that began to form in my eyes from the pure happiness that was stirring inside of me right now.
“Hey, don’t cry. Of course, I had to do all this. What kind of man of honor would I be if I didn’t do this?” Colby’s thumb swipes across my cheek to get rid of the lone tear that escaped.
“I can’t help the tears. You know I’ve been crying all the time and I don’t think it’ll stop until the wedding is over. I always cry when I’m really happy.”
“You can cry all you want as long as they are happy tears,” He says and I look up at him, smiling. We lean against the wall and watch all our friends as they talk and celebrate. I take the opportunity to really look at all the decorating. There was no way Colby did all this. I love the guy, but he can’t decorate for shit.
“Who did the decorating?” I ask him and he giggles.
“Yeah, I had to get Kat and Tara to help with that. Speaking of…” He trailed off and I followed his gaze to the two that were running up to us.
“Do you love it, y/n?” Tara asks, her smile beaming at me. Kat’s right next to her, waiting for my response. I pull the two into a hug.
“Of course, I love it, but I love you guys more,” I whisper, on the verge of tears again. I pull away and fan my eyes dry.
“Come on, let’s go talk to everybody,” Tara suggests as she pulls me with her.
“I’ll talk to you in a little bit!” I shout at Colby to which he smiles and waves me off.
...
After several drinks, conversations, and slices of pizza later, the night had come to a close. I had to be up in six hours and haven’t even gone to sleep yet.
“You should head on to bed. I’ve got this and if I need help, I’ll wake up Sam,” Colby tells me, but I shake my head at him.
“No, it’s fine. We can both finish cleaning all this up and then we’ll go to bed,” I say as I pick up yet another red cup that was tossed on the ground. “How many damn cups are there? This reminds me of Devyn’s 21st birthday with how many cups there are,” I say as I take the cup and a few napkins I found to the big trash bag that Colby was holding. I lose my balance a little when I come up too fast from placing it in the bag and Colby’s hands grab hold onto my arms to steady me.
“Someone had a lot to drink tonight, right?” I nod to answer his question. He lets out a laugh before picking me up and heading to his room.
“You are going to lay down and get some sleep, okay? I’m going to go get you some water and I’ll be right back,” He tells me, and I nod again. When he leaves, I pull my shoes off and get comfortable under the covers. Once he’s back, he hands me a water bottle that was cold from the fridge and heads for the door.
“Where are you going?” I ask him as I unscrew the lid from the bottle. He turns around and smiles.
“I’m going to finish cleaning up and then, I’ll come right back, I promise.” He leaves to finish cleaning and I drink as much water as I can. It doesn’t take long before he comes back in here and climbs into bed with me. We lay facing each other, but we aren’t touching one another.
“This is the last time we will ever spend the night together,” Colby mentions and my face scrunches in confusion.
“What do you mean? I don’t care what Cam says. I can still sleep over here if I want to,” I protest, but Colby’s laughter fills the room as he shakes his head.
“I’ve done a lot, but I have never slept with a married woman and I intend on keeping that up.” I slap his chest and he fake winces as if the impact caused him actual pain.
“You are so fucking annoying. Do you know that? This is the last time I’m spending the night with you because I don’t know if I could handle another.” We both laugh, but a comfortable silence falls over the both of us and my eyes soon shut. As I get comfier, I slide myself next to Colby and snuggle into his chest like I always have. I feel his arm rest comfortably around me and I feel like I am where I’m supposed to be. Right before I fall asleep, I hear Colby say something.
“I really let you get away, didn’t I?”
“What do you mean when you say that, Colbs?” I ask as I lean up to look at him. He shakes his head.
“It’s nothing. Go back to sleep.” He instructs. I push myself off of him and sit next to him cross-legged.
“What’s up? Something’s bothering you. I can tell.” He sighs, knowing I won’t give up until he tells me what’s wrong, and sits up too.
“I know you probably don’t want to hear this the night before you get married, but y/n, I have always had feelings for you. I thought we would try us out before, but we never found the time to. You met Cameron and now, you’re about to get married to him. We never even got to try what being together would be like. It seems like every time one of us is ready, the other has found someone else.”
“You are really bringing this up now?” I ask him, kind of pissed that this was happening.
“You asked what was bothering me and this is it. You can’t tell me you haven’t thought about us since you got with Cam,” He waits for my response. I literally was talking to Kat earlier today about how I thought I might be doing the wrong thing by marrying Cameron and never trying to be with Colby.
“Of course, I have but-”
“All I’m saying is that we never got to try it out and now we never will. That’s what was bothering me and keeping me up. You asked. I answered. Good night,” He says as he lays back down and turns away from me. An idea flows out my mouth before I had the chance to think about what I was saying.
“What if you kiss me?” The words spill out of my mouth and my hands come up to my lips in an effort to stop them, but it’s no use. I already said it. Colby turns back around towards me, his facial expression mixed of confusion, hope, and shock.
“Why? It wouldn’t change anything. You’d still get married tomorrow, and nothing would happen between us. If anything, it would cause more problems. You would feel guilty. We’d both be confused. It’s not worth it, y/n. The alcohol’s talking, not you,” Colby says, laying down to face the ceiling.
“But at least we could say we tried us, couldn’t we?” Why do I keep talking? I’m going to mess up everything. But for some reason, a small part of me doesn’t care. Colby props himself up on his elbows as he looks at me. I can tell he’s at war in his mind over the offer.
“Are you sure?” He asks me and thoughtlessly, I nod. He sits all the way up and pulls my body closer to his. I giggle as I slide across the sheets and am placed between his legs. His hand comes up to the side of my face, pushing some stray hairs behind my ear and he rests his hand on my cheek. His blue eyes search mine to make sure that I want to do this.
Again, I nod my head without a thought, and he begins to pull my face closer to his. His eyes lower from mine to my lips and mine flutter closed as we inch closer to each other. It isn’t long before I feel the sensation of Colby’s lips against my own. Our lips move together so nicely, it’s as if they were made to go together.
His hand travels from the side of my face to the back of my head, pulling me in closer if that’s even possible. His other hand rests on my hip, holding me close. My hands find their way around his neck and one of them runs its fingers through his hair, slightly tugging at it. A slight grunt escapes his lips and I giggle into our kiss.
Things get even more heated when his tongue swipes against my bottom lip, and since I have decided to completely throw my brain out the window, I let my lips part and allow his tongue in. Our tongues dance together, flicking against one another. The more passionate the kiss gets, the faster my heart beats, but I don’t seem to mind it.
Colby’s arms wrap around my waist as he picks me up before laying me down beside where he originally was, but now, he was on top of me. Our lips never disconnected and like them, our bodies moved together perfectly. They fit together perfectly. His hands rubbed up and down my sides, my shirt lifting a little each time they went upwards.
That’s when I decided this was enough. As much as I wanted to continue, I couldn’t. I pulled away from Colby slightly and hated the look on his face when I did. I shouldn’t have allowed this to get this far or to even happen in the first place. He knew what I meant as he fell onto the bed beside me and laid down, back towards me. I felt like shit for what I did to him, playing with his feelings unintentionally.
“I wanted to keep going, but-”
“But you love Cameron, I know,” He grumbles.
“Holy fuck, Cameron! I forgot about him. I can’t marry him, knowing what I just did. Fuck, why am I such an idiot? No, I can’t marry Cameron. Not now. If I loved him, I wouldn’t have let this happen! Shit! Colby, what do I do?” I’m freaking out. I literally screwed up everything.
“First of all, you need to calm down and breathe,” Colby tells me. He’s right. I didn’t realize it, but my breathing definitely got messed up. I did as instructed and then looked to him for more advice.
“Everything’s fine. All we did was kiss. You can still marry Cameron. Nothing has changed.” Colby takes my hands in his as he speaks. It helps keep me focused on him and calm.
“No, everything has changed because that kiss wasn’t just any kiss. It felt different than any other kiss I’ve ever had in my life. It felt right. Being in your arms felt right. My hands running through your hair felt right. Your hands on my hips holding me close felt right. Being with you feels right, Colby. Don’t you get it? I wanted to keep going. I still want to keep going with you. I want you. I love you. So, no, I can’t marry Cameron because I’m in love with you.”
“What are you saying, y/n?”
“I’m saying that I want to be with you, not Cameron.” Right as the words fall from my lips, Colby swoops me up in his arms and swings me around. I giggle in pure joy as we spin around together.
“I want to be with you too y/n,” Colby tells me as he sets me down gently.
“The only problem is that I’m supposed to be getting married to another guy in less than twelve hours,” I remind him. We both try to think about how to go about this, but nothing really sounds good.
“I’m just going to go over to Derek’s house and talk to Cameron about it. He’s always been a really understanding guy, so maybe he won’t completely hate me,” I say as I find my shoes and slip them on.
“Let me take you,” Colby offers, and I nod.
...
“How’d it go?” Colby asks me as soon as I get into the car, but I break down into tears before I can speak. He wraps me up in his embrace. “I’m guessing not good.”
“N-no, Cam, he-he’s too sweet. He said that he kind of saw this coming. He said we always looked at each other differently than we looked at whoever we were with, but that he always assumed that it was some best friend thing. He was so understanding. I didn’t deserve him in the first place. I really hope he finds him someone just as good as he is,” I say as I wipe my tears away. I pull away from Colby so that he can drive back to the house, but he never lets go of my hand.
“You know what’s going to be even harder than telling him that there won’t be a wedding?” Colby starts. I look at him quizzically before he smiles. “You have to tell Tara and Kat.”
“Fuuuuuuck,” I drag out the word. “It’s going to be so annoying canceling everything in the morning.”
“This is totally off subject. But earlier when you said being with me felt right, what did you mean?” Colby questions.
“I don’t know how to explain it, but it felt like being there with you in your arms, our lips together, us together, it all felt right, like right there was where I was supposed to be. It felt perfect. We felt perfect.”
“And what if I told you I felt that same way?” Colby suggests. He is up to something.
“What are you getting at, Colbs?”
“Why waste a wedding? You’ve already put so much money and planning into it. If being with me felt right, then be with me. I felt the exact same way about the kiss as you did, only I tried to savor it the best I could because I thought it was my only chance.” I look at him in shock.
“You want to get married? To me? Tomorrow?” I question, still shocked. He nods his head.
“Yes, y/n. I’ve always thought that I would have to live with the fact that you were the one that got away, but now I have the chance to make sure that never happens.” I can’t help but smile at him.
“There was no getting away from you anyway. You don’t think I’d break our Best Friends Forever Pact?” He chuckles at the brought-up memory.
“Well, would you like to upgrade our BFF pact to a marriage license?” I lean over the center console to give him a quick peck on the cheek.
“Hell yeah, I would.”

Amber Scholl and Colby Brock in The Purge
Tumblr media
The city was shrouded in an eerie darkness as the sirens blared, announcing the commencement of another year for The Purge. Two figures walked side by side down the desolate street, their steps echoing in the silence that hung in the air like a heavy veil. The buildings, once bustling with life, now stood as silent witnesses to the chaos that was about to unfold. The moonlight cast long shadows, accentuating their sinister presence.
One of the figure was a female, clad in leather and exuded a dangerous allure. Her eyes gleamed beneath her white mask with a mixture of excitement and anticipation.
Her companion was a male, but he kept his expression stoic behind his black mask. He moved with a confident stride, his fingers occasionally brushing against the handle of a wicked-looking blade at his side.
"Ready for some fun, Amber?" his voice was a low, gravelly whisper that seemed to dance in the darkness.
Amber's lips curled into a wicked smile as she turned her gaze towards him, her eyes sparkling with a hint of mischief. "You know how I’ve longed for tonight, Colby. The thrill of the hunt, the rush of power… it's...,” she moaned loudly, “Intoxicating."
Colby chuckled softly, his tone laced with a hint of something darker. "Oh, I'm well aware, my darling. And I must say, the way you handle that gun of yours is quite... mesmerizing."
Amber's laughter rang out, a melodic contrast to the tension that enveloped them, as she brought the gun up to her lips, "Flattery will get you everywhere, Colby," and she gave the barrel a long lick.
Colby’s eyes darkened.
But, they continued down the deserted street, their footsteps echoing like a melody. As they walked, their shoulders occasionally brushed, sending shivers down their spines. The very air seemed charged with a forbidden energy, an electric current that crackled between them.
Colby leaned in, his voice a sensual purr. "Tell me, Amber, what's the darkest desire you've been harboring? Perhaps I can make it come true tonight."
Amber turned to face him, her eyes locking onto his beneath the masks that concealed their identities. Her voice dripped with honeyed temptation. "Well, Colby, wouldn't you like to know?” and she gave him a kissy face that made him laugh, “I must admit, I'm not one to share my secrets so easily."
Colby's fingers traced a slow, deliberate path along the hilt of his blade, his gaze unwavering. "Ah, playing hard to get, are we?"
The tension between them was palpable, a magnetic force that threatened to consume them both. In the darkness of The Purge, boundaries blurred and inhibitions faded, leaving only raw desire in their wake. That was what the pair liked the most about this night, despite their desire for violence and blood. They could give in fully to what they felt with each other without actually crossing any lines.
As they moved deeper into the heart of the city, their banter grew increasingly heated, each word a dangerous flirtation that sent shockwaves through the air. Their intentions were clear – to navigate the chaos of The Purge together, to seize the night and bend it to their will.

Note
Can you do a fic of Colby being a bad boy but having to dress in this preppy uniform to go to school. And Somehow Amber is his bff eventhough they're complete opposites lmao.
Im sorry but after his video i cant get that image out of my head. Maybe she's like a stoner or something and he ditches school and hangsout with her somewhere idk.
ready to run
summary: anywhere she goes, he'll follow.
pairing: colby brock x fem!reader
word count: 470
warnings: sort of high school au, colby is a bad boy but I don't really dive into that so just know that's how you're supposed to imagine him, amber's a stoner, skipping school to smoke, amber calls colby "daddy" (only including this cause she did say it in the video lmao)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"You know you shouldn't be here," Amber said, looking over Colby as he came around the bleacher, taking a slow drag. "Aren't you s'pposed to be in History right now?"
Colby rolled his eyes, loosening his tie as he sat down on the grass next to her. "As if you have room to talk. Aren't you supposed to be in Home Ec?"
"They're teaching how to cook, and we both know that's a disaster waitin' to happen if I'm involved." Amber passed her joint to Colby. "We both remember what happened when I tried to make brownies that one time."
"You know, I still don't understand how the fuckin' oven blew up just by you lookin' at it," Colby mused, blowing out the smoke in little o's.
"Some people were just born to not have to raise a finger." She moved closer, resting her head on his shoulder. "I've got better things to do. Once I get outta this town, I'll be so rich I can just hire people to do those things for me."
"What? You gonna fine some billionaire bachelor to wife you up?"
"You sound jealous, daddy," she teased, him scoffing when she called him that nickname. She knew how much he hated it, so she always jumped at the opportunity to use it. "Nah, I'm gonna do it all on my own. Gonna build myself an empire. Gonna be so famous that they're gonna make a cartoon of me."
"Don't forget about us little people when you make it to the top, then."
He hadn't meant to sound miffed, but...He just really like Amber's company. She, and Sam, were the only people who really got him in this town. The only people who looked past the persona he put on. He could only be himself around his two friends, and he didn't know what he would do if he didn't have them both.
"Oh, don't act like you aren't comin' with me, Brock. Know all about yours and Golbach's plans for fame. We're all gonna make it. I know it."
As if he knew he was being spoken about, Sam came running around the corner to them, waving his arms like a maniac. "Guys, guys! You gotta go! Mr. Gilliam is comin' and he ain't happy!"
"Shit," Colby cursed. The vice principal, Mr. Gilliam, ruled over disciplinary action with an iron fist. If he caught them skipping class and getting high? Oh, it was came over. "Can't get another detention. My mom will kill me."
"Oh, Colby Brock, Bad Boy Extraordinaire, is a momma's boy? Cute," Amber smirked. She jumped up to her feet, and held out her hand for him to take. "Ready to run?"
Sam had reached them by the time Colby got to his feet. "With the two of you? I'll run anywhere."

“Boys? Where are you?” you asked, walking into Sam and Colby’s suite.
You had received a text from Colby a few minutes earlier, telling you to come over ASAP. So, you stopped editing the video you were working on and immediately went across the hall. The door was unlocked, and opened with a slight creak—you hated how old the hotel was, it constantly creaked and groaned and made you feel like something was going to go horribly wrong at any given moment.
The suite was an absolute mess when you walked in. A large pile of cardboard boxes lay in the center of the room, blocking off the entrance to what looked like an intricate box fort. You cautiously walked over, wondering if your friends were somehow trapped inside. But as you started to move the boxes, a hand shot out, grabbing your ankle and yanking on it.
You screamed, kicking at your attacked, and nearly bolted back to your room.
Then you heard their stupid fucking laughs.
Colby came out of the pile of boxes, a hand covering his mouth as he laughed. Sam popped out of a pile of blankets you hadn’t noticed earlier, a camera in hand. Then it made sense. Those fuckers pranked you for fucking content.
“I hate you!” you shouted. “You nearly gave me a heart attack!”
“Awe, Y/N!” Colby cooed, wrapping his arms around you. You almost would’ve believed he was actually sorry if it wasn’t for him still shaking from laughter.
“Fuck off,” you grumbled. “Hope that looked good for your video.”
“It did,” Sam laughed. “Thanks for the content.”
“Next time, text Corey when you wanna fuck with someone,” you said, going back to your suite and slamming the door behind you.
Tumblr media
The pranks continued for the next week. Apparently, Sam and Colby, along with Jake and Corey, had started a prank war and was trying to get everyone involved. You hated it, feeling constantly on edge as you went about your daily life. And, while a few of the other friends had done a few pranks sporadically, everyone could tell they were over it, too.
You’d just witnessed an elaborate prank conducted by the boys with Amber, Jake, Corey. You’d walked in after it had started, but it ended with Kevin and Reggie being covered in maple syrup, faux feathers, and more glitter than you ever wanted to see again.
Kevin sent at the glare at the boys when he saw who had pranked him and Reggie. In his best “dad” voice, he said, “Sam, Colby, I’m tired of your impractical jokes.”
“Sorry, we didn’t mean to make you mad,” Sam apologized, looking incredibly innocent.
Kevin shook his head and began to walk away. “I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed.”
“Oh, shit, don’t step on that!” Colby shouted, but it was too late—Kevin stepped on something that released a cascade of marbles, sending Kevin and Reggie flying across the lobby.
Sam and Colby erupted into laugher, earning another glare from Kevin and Reggie.
“That was awesome!” Sam said, turning off the camera he was holding.
“It was almost as funny as Y/N screaming like a banshee when we pranked her earlier.”
You scoffed. “I was actually fucking concerned for you, you bastard. Guess I’ll never be a good friend to you again.”
Colby snorted. “You sure looked concerned when you were running away like you’d seen a ghost.”
Corey’s eyebrows shot up. “You seen a ghost? Don’t tell you seen the ghost of Suite 613!”
“There’s a ghost in the hotel?” you, Sam, and Colby said at the same time.
Corey nodded.
“Cool!” Sam looked at Colby. “Brother, we need to film this!”
“Or, maybe don’t?” you suggested. “The last time y’all dumbasses need is a ghost attached to you.”
“And what makes you think it’ll attach to us?” Colby asked, an eyebrow raised.
You rolled your eyes. “Because you’re hardly paranormal investigators. You hear one bump in the night and become the boy who cried ghost. You don’t know how an EMF reader works, you never hold the dowsing rods properly, you break so many of the Ouija board rules, and you keep confusing the Queen Marys! Y’all are dumber than a box of rocks.”
Jake snorted. “Well, there’s no real proof ghosts are real anyways, so how do you know they’re doing the wrong thing?”
“Oh you want proof, brother? Go to Suite 613. I saw something there,” Corey insisted. “It was freaky as hell. I got chills, brother.”
“You got chills?” Sam asked. “That’s enough for me. Let’s go!”
Sam and Colby went running up the stairs, and you, Jake, and Corey followed them up all six flights. Jesus Christ, where did they get all of this energy?
As they reached the sixth floor, they swung open the door from the stairwell, and ran immediately into Miss Amber Scholl.
“Woah!” she said, stopping the two of them from landing flat on their faces. “What’s got you guys in such a rush?”
“We heard there’s a ghost up here,” Sam said. “Do you know where Suite 613 is?”
“Yeah, it’s just down the hallway on the left,” she said. They started to run again, but she caught them both by the arms. “But, seriously, you shouldn’t go there. I live a few doors down, and there’s some freaky things that go on in there. I bought the room a while ago to convert into a shoe and purse closet, but honestly? I wish I’d never made the purchase, and that’s saying something.”
“See?” Corey said, slightly out of breath still from running up six flights of stairs. “Told you there was a ghost.”
Colby ignored him. “Could we go in there, please? We heard it’s super haunted and wanted to make a video out of it.”
Amber thought for a moment, then pulled a key out of her vintage Louis Vuitton bag. “Fine. But don’t be surprised when you get the shit scared out of you.”
“Told you there was a ghost!” Corey repeated.
“Do you know anything about the ghost, Amber?” Sam asked.
She nodded. “Her name was Irene, and she was so beautiful. There's this gorgeous painting of her in the suite still. She had everything in the world, money, nice clothes, incredible jewelry, a doting husband.”
“So you minus the husband,” you said.
Amber laughed. “Basically. Anyways, her and her husband checked into the hotel many years ago, but only her husband checked out. It was days before the maids could get to the room to clean it. Something about being short-staffed at the time and nobody was able to get to cleaning the room for a while. Which was fine, since nobody had it booked for another month. But, when the maid finally came in to clean, there Irene was, cold and lifeless on the couch.”
“Did they ever find out what happened to her?” you asked.
“Oh, this is where it gets real dark. Irene’s husband had been cheating on her, and she found out during the trip. She threw him out and practically destroyed the room when he was gone. She was so mad, she threw this silver hairbrush at this gorgeous mirror and it shattered. The shards flew everywhere, and well...” Amber drew a line with her finger across her throat. “She never lived to see another day.”
“Holy shit,” Sam said.
“Well, good luck! You can just bring me the key back whenever you’re done.”
As Amber walked off, the rest of you made your way to Suite 613. Colby raised the key to unlock the door, but it slowly creaked open.
“Shit, I got chills brother!” Corey said, showing his arm to you.
“You always have chills.”
You all entered the room and your eyes immediately found the portrait of Irene. She was a young woman, probably not that much older than you guys, with hair done up in the classic forties victory rolls, red lipstick, and a pearl necklace and earrings. But, with the way the lights were all off, she did have a hidden, menacing tone to her. “Wow, Amber wasn’t kidding. She was beautiful.”
“Dude, look at the glass!” Jake said, pointing to the shards of glass on the floor.
“Wait, how long ago was this for them to not clean up?” you asked, but your question fell on deaf ears.
As soon as you mentioned the mess, the door slammed shut, causing all of the boys to start freaking out again. You rolled your eyes once more as they began to talk about how haunted this room was. Figures, they were just going to jump to conclusions without seeing what other possible things could have caused the door to shut.
They began to calm down again, and things went a bit more serious. Sam and Colby began making plans to come back that night at three in the morning for a seance. Corey, in typical fashion, was against it but was eventually coerced into doing it. Jake, of course, was already in, and so attention turned to you.
“Well, Y/N, are you in?”
You sighed. “Fine. But if y’all freak out just once or get chills, I’m dropkicking Corey into next week.”
“What? Why me?”
“If you weren’t the one who was haunted, those idiots wouldn’t so interested in this shit.”
“Hey!”
Tumblr media
Later, close to three in the morning as storm raged on outside, you all had gathered outside of Suite 613. Sam and Colby had just finished with the intro and you all were about to head inside.
“You guys ready?” Sam asked.
“As I’ll ever be,” Corey said.
Sam laughed, then unlocked the door. You all filed in, letting Colby take the lead since he was filming. The lights were on this time, and you wondered who had turned them on. Had Sam and Colby come by earlier or something? Maybe they needed to set something up for the seance. After all, the round table that was previously propped up against the wall was now in the center of the room with candles in the center of it. Or maybe Irene wanted you guys to communicate with her and set this all up on her own.
You shook the thought out of you head as quickly as it came, instead focusing on Corey saying, “Oh, it’s not that scary in here now.”
At that, lighting cracked in the sky and all of the lights went out.
“Shit, never mind, it’s fucking terrifying in here,” Corey corrected himself.
“Do you think the ghost did that?” Colby wondered.
“Well now I wonder that!” Corey said, starting to freak out.
You pulled your phone from your pocket and turned on the flashlight. You shined it around for a moment before seeing the breaker box. You went over there, then flipped the switch to turn the lights back on. “Chill,” you said as the lights flickered on, “the storm just knocked out the lights. No ghost to be found here.”
“That we know of,” Sam said ominously. “Brother, do you got the EMF?”
Colby nodded, and pulled it out of his jacket pocket. He passed it to Sam, who turned it on and started walking around the room. As he passed by the mirror and the portrait of Irene, it immediately began to spike. He stopped there and began asking questions.
“Irene, are you here with us?” Sam asked. “If you are, make this flash to red.”
The reader jumped from green to red as soon as he finished the question.
“Brooo, I got chills!” Corey said, showing his arm to Colby who zoomed the camera in on it.
“One day I’m gonna get chills, and that’s how y’all are gonna know this is legit,” you said, earning a laugh from Jake.
“Dude, this is why the fans hate you,” Corey joked.
“I thought they hated me because I’m a woman breathing the same air as their lord and savior Colbert Robby Brock?”
Colby blinked, turning the camera to you. “Please...never call me that again.”
“Sorry, Mr. Robby Brock.”
Sam interrupted and said, “Could we get back to the questions? Irene, do you want to talk to us? If you do, show us a sign.”
Instead of looking at the EMF, all eyes turned to the portrait of Irene. What was once a stationary portrait began to...move? Irene moved ever so slightly, seemingly coming out of the portrait as she looked directly into the camera.
“Okay, bro, I got chills now,” you said.
“Well, I guess now is as good a time as ever to start the seance,” Sam said, moving to the table where he set the EMF reader down.
Corey started to follow, looking down at his phone. “Dog, wait a second, it’s 3:01 now.”
“So?” Sam asked.
“That portrait just did that freaky thing at exactly 3:00. This room is fucking haunted!”
“Damn, we better start this seance now while things are getting freaky,” Colby said.
Colby set the camera up on a tripod as you all sat at the table. Once he was done with that, he took a seat between you and Jake. Sam went to light the candles, but as he moved the lighter near the wick, it ignited all on its own.
“Guess the spirit really wants to talk to us,” Jake joked.
“Can we just say we’re not home?” Corey asked.
“Nah, brother, we gotta do this,” Sam said. “Let’s all join hands.”
You all grabbed each other’s hands, and Sam continued, “Irene, please speak to us.”
As he said that, something began to shake your chair back and forth. “Holy shit, not like that Irene!”
Thunder rumbled in the sky. A series of lightning bolts flashed in the sky, and when the mini-fireworks ended, the flame on the candle went out. Jake began to shake, and the table began to rise. The EMF reader began going crazy, flashing from green to red to green to red nonstop.
Jake stopped shaking, an odd look in his eyes. He began to speak, but his voice was much higher, more feminine. “She’s heeeeeere!”
The table dropped back on the floor.
“Who’s dares to call me in the afterlife?!” not-Jake asked.
“Those bozos,” you said, pointing at Sam and Colby.
“Wow, great way to sell us out, Y/N,” Colby said.
“Are you the ghost of Irene?” Sam asked.
“Yes! My spirit is doomed to anguish in agony for allll eternity!” not-Jake said, moving erratically.
“Um, could we have our friend back please? We’re just gonna go, if that’s alright,” you said.
“YOU WILL BE SILENT!” not-Jake shouted.
“Oh, shit, sorry, forget I said anything.”
Corey got visibly upset. “What the hell’s your problem?”
“I WAS BETRAYED! AND SO I AM ANGRY!”
From behind Corey, a silver hairbrush flew across the room. From where, you didn’t have clue. It struck the mirror behind you, cracking it into even more pieces than before.
“Holy shit!” you said. “Please, just give us our friend back!”
“Jake’s GONE!” not-Jake said. Lightning flashed again, and when it was dark once more, Jake had disappeared from his seat.
Outside, the wind picked up and the doors to the balcony swung open. You got up quickly, shutting the doors before something freaky tried to get inside. When you turned, you locked eyes with the portrait of Irene. A sickeningly sweet smile twisted on her face and she reached out to grab you.
“You’ll never leave!” the portrait cried. “You’ll stay here with me forever!”
“Oh my god, I’m outta here,” Corey said, jumping from his seat.
He ran to the door, but when he tried to open it, the door knob fell out. He dropped it, it clattering loudly on the floor.
You were officially freaking out. You began hyperventilating, your heart racing a mile a minute in your chest. What the fuck had Sam and Colby got you guys into?
And then—
They started laughing.
The fuckers started laughing.
“What the hell are you laughing about?” you asked.
“Welcome to the prank war!” Colby said, taking the camera off the tripod to film yours and Corey’s reaction.
Meanwhile, Sam began flipping on the lights and Jake came out from a wardrobe he had been hiding in since he had “disappeared”.
“Dude what the hell?” Corey said. “That was fucking terrifying!”
You looked over at Corey, grinding your teeth together. “I know I said I was sticking to a stance of neutrality in this fucking war, but I think it’s time I toss my hat in the ring. You in, Corey?”
“After this shit show? Hell yeah,” Corey agreed. “Wanna go cook up the master plan?”
“I’d be more than happy to, Mr. Scherer.”
“Then shall we go, Miss Y/L/N?”
You linked arms with him. “We shall.”
You began to leave as Sam and Colby protested.
“Wait that wasn’t the plan!” Colby said.
You looked over your shoulder, winking. “What can I say? Welcome to the prank war, brother.”
