Hey guuuuuys

As a heads up, I'm going to be converting this blog to be mostly my main/pokemon blog. I've been thinking about it for a while tbh and when it comes down to it, I've been feeling a huge disconnect from selfshipping as a whole for a while. It was nice and a great way for me to cope before I was able to get mental health care, but it's definitely more of a hobby now more than anything. Don't get me wrong, I still love my funky little gals and guys and it's fun to think about them in different scenarios! I'm still going to always lose my shit over Piers! But honestly? All of my "inserts" have basically come into their own, if that makes sense. They are not me. They may share a name with me sometimes but that's definitely an OC, that and I'm too lazy to rename the various Mandas and Jeannes across franchises cause that shit is a lot of work. And besides, literally everyone who has made a character has put some of themself into it and I know that I'm not wrong--

Now, what does this mean for me/the blog?

I'm still gonna post how I feel like posting. Things are going to be a lot less selfship focused. If anything, I'm leaning more on the side of oc x canon and oc x oc cause that's where I'm finding more enjoyment. No more fancy carrd with f/os and all that happy stuff, it's just going to be an about. No long ass dni honestly who the hell even takes the time to read them anymore (I mean, I do, but not the point I'm trying to make here). Granted my dni was never long in the first place but kgjwjdjejejjfayhs still. I'm still deciding if I'm going to go through the blogs I follow and trim things up. If I unfollow you, by no means is it anything against you and there are no hard feelings on my end. And if you'd like to unfollow me due to my focus shift, I encourage that.

Honestly over all, I haven't had a lot of energy to be publicly online in a while, anyway. It's what happens when you work full time, go to school part time, and have some mental disorders and a chronic illness that's been fucking you over since you were 2. The burnout is real lmao. I'd rather enjoy myself when I'm on tumblr than be all bleh, ya know?

I mean this when I say I did enjoy my time when I was selfship focused, but I think that part of my life is... Not quite behind me, but not a major part of my future anymore. In some aspects, it made my mental health worse, if I'm being honest, and I should have never let it get to that point. Granted that was before I was able to get diagnosed and start my mental health journey, but still. Should have stopped as soon as I felt myself not doing okay. I'm not going to dumb down or sugar coat myself anymore (granted I haven't been for a while but eh is what it is). I'm probably going to be leaving most servers I've been a part of and clean up my discord as well.

I'll still post self ship stuff here occasionally cause I mean, c'mon it's my blog I can do whatever the hell I want with it forever.

But I do think it's time to finally start finishing up this chapter. I'll forever and always be Amanda Pierswife though, you can pry this url from my cold, dead hands <3

i will currently only be taking two slots. no it's not a lot, but this is my very first time taking commissions, and i'll be taking these on top of art commissions so i don't want to overwhelm myself. i hope you understand!! 🫶

read below if you're interested in buying from me! thank you in advance if you are. i really appreciate it.

so these will be writing commissions, of course, as this is my main writing blog. the price is $1.00 for every hundred words. so 100 words is $1.00, 200 is $2.00, so on and so forth...i will round the word count up or down depending on the tens place. so, for example, if the work is 583 words, i would round it up to 600, or if it was 729 words, i would round it down to 700. anything under 5 goes down, 5 and above goes up.

i currently only take c$shapp and v3nmo (i've heard that tumblr doesn't like those words, so they're censored), i apologize if that's an inconvenience.

it would not be possible to estimate word count prior to writing, so the price will be calculated after i write it, but i can try to make it on the shorter or longer side if you would prefer that.

if you would like more than one piece done, like say multiple parts or chapters, those will have to be made as separate commissions, as i am a slow writer and it would be easier for everyone involved if i did one thing for one person at a time.

i am willing to do pretty much everything i allow for requests, so please go over my request rules [found on my carrd!] before contacting me. there is also a little more info regarding these commissions there on a new tab i added, so i would recommend reading it (but it's not required if you read this whole post)! anything not found listed under will do/won't do is up for discussion.

you can also commission me for non-DBD things if you would like to! i am familiar with a variety of things, and even if i'm not familiar, i enjoy getting to know new characters. i will write for self inserts, OCs, canon characters, as well as ships involving all of those (even canon x canon or OC x OC!) from any type of media and genre as well.

This blog is purely aesthetics for my original writing set in the XIV universe and occasionally some RP related stuff. It also reblogs content created by others in the community.

I go by Elu most of the time in online spaces. I am in my late-thirties, happily married to this ⋆˙⟡♡ rad dude ♡⟡⋆˙ and the proud co-owner of a menagerie of cats. This blog collects inspo material for my original writing about my OCs on the Crystal DC, plus where I post screenshots I take of them, and very occasionally I might post some original writing too (but not very often tbh c': )

I try to stay pretty relaxed in online spaces, but due to past experiences on the web, I like to maintain my privacy. I am WCIF friendly for pretty much all of my mods I use except for the ones I cobble together myself (e.g. Oli's tattoos which are obviously not available because they're my frankenstein creation and I am not a modder c': )

I am open to some forms of RP and more information about the kind of RP i participate in is available in the info section of my carrd linked above.

However, two things worth mentioning: 1. I don't do any RP here on my tumblr. 2. I only RP in-game at events and venues for the purpose of connecting and meeting new people (especially those who might like to RP with me outside of the game.) I don't participate in in-game RP regularly because I'm unable to commit to long term in-game plots of any kind due to my timezone. As I'm located outside of North America, I am only available to RP on weekends in-game.

My focus is long form RP and in depth plots centered around adventure, intrigue, combat and morally grey situations and outcomes, plus they include a healthy dose of lorebending! So, it is not often appropriate for a teen or general rated setting such as within the game itself, and due to the long form stye and a focus on continuity, it is rarely accommodating to walk up styles of RP outside of the sort of pre-established scenarios that events and venues provide.

The majority of my RP is conducted via gdocs both for the convenience it provides me in my weird timezone, and as I am rarely interested in pro-longed casual and slice of life style RP. I am open to engaging in Discord RP via chat. I would prefer server-based RP for group related plots, but I am not currently aware of any discord servers dedicated to long form styles of RP. If you have a RP focused discord server where people actually do the roleplaying part and not just a hub for sharing advertisements for events and carrds, please feel free to drop me a link to it! I am always happy to use discord for the purposes of plotting and general conversation! I don't hand my handle out publicly, but if you would like to connect via Discord, please just shoot me a message or ask to chat about that!

I ship my OCs with my husband's OCs so they're unavailable for romance-style RP.

I prefer not to interact with minors.

I do tend to curate my online spaces very closely. If things someone posts cause me anxiety I am likely to block that person. It's not meant to be an offense, but I value my mental health and time away from work-related stress. Tumblr, writing and casual RP are relaxing hobbies for me and I don't want them to turn stressful. So, if you have been blocked by me, for whatever reason, please don't try and circumvent it.

My tumblr also does this weird thing lately where it puts the "follow" button back on blogs I am already following and when I click it I actually unfollow that blog. It is really frustrating and I do try to remember to double check, but sometimes I press the button like a monkey so if we were moots and you can still see this post, it means you're not blocked and that probably is what happened, please just shoot me a message/ask and I will rectify that! (many apologies in advance if it's happened too!)

I really don't enjoy interacting with 'diskhorse' of any sort here, be it fandom, political, cultural, or any sort of subject that is causing heated debate amongst people. There may be times I make an exception to this and something related to human rights may be posted to this blog, but it will be very rare. Please don't assume my lack of engagement with these subjects means I am uninformed about them, or my lack of comment about X means I support Y. It simply causes me a lot of anxiety to engage with those discussions in an online setting and if I have made an exception it is because I have decided the issue being discussed is an issue I can contribute something of value to besides my personal opinion and deserves reach beyond my personal circles.

Lastly, if you're a bigot of any sort, we just can't be friends. I don't want to list the whole sordid table of bigotry here, but regardless of my dislike for online political discussions I very firmly believe in personal freedoms, personal autonomy and personal respect. I don't want to associate with people whose values are focused on impeding other peoples rights to those three things. I think that's just about everything that needs to be here for now!

― MOST ACTIVE MUSE(S)? Judas throughout my 11ish years of RPing on and off this site. Cillian right now is a close second, followed by Ronan. At this point, I'm gonna give those two their own separate blogs once I find the time and energy to do so, and they may be more XIV-focused with other verses added in. Carmine is also a semi-active muse in my brain that unfortunately I'd have to debate about bringing him back since his fandom is dead in the RPC. Being part of some really niche fighting game isn't helpful for his case, I think.

― RP PET PEEVES? One-sided engagement - if I am throwing ideas at you and you're constantly give me the textbook equivalent of a nod, then I'll take it as a sign to spend my time elsewhere.

Getting ideas lifted off my muses or lore, which is super noticeable if someone's interacted with me and shortly after they start having similar ideas of their own. Inspiration is one thing, but it can just be incredibly frustrating when you have it happen to you in ways that you can't tell if it's them getting inspired or them having no creativity and using you as a stepping stone.

People not reading my rules or the information I have up, which isn't to say they need to memorize EVERYTHING. But essential things, I will notice. The first litmus test of following my blog is if you unironically refer to my character as Cillian OOC. I would probably just hardblock at that point, as it shows you didn't read my carrd enough to make a distinction.

― EXPERIENCE / HOW MANY YEARS? I have dabbled a bit in RPing on DeviantART from 2011-2012, but on Tumblr, I started in 2012-2013 with a different muse in a completely different fandom and in a different era of RPing. Judas was my second ever major blog that I made. Occasionally I look back at his very first blog, so what I'm building here is a recreation of those times. If you know you know.

― FLUFF, ANGST, OR SMUT? I have a big preference for angst, but can definitely do fluff. Can't write smut for a few reasons, but also it's just hard to write it.

― PLOTS OR MEMES? I prefer some plotting but can absolutely just wing it too! I definitely prefer memes for interaction, since there's little pressure to keep it going into a thread if we want and it serves as points of engagement imo.

― LONG OR SHORT REPLIES? I'm definitely on the shorter end of replies, from one-liners to a few paragraphs. I can't really do long threads for a consistent amount of time like I used to (hell I would argue I could never do them even back then).

― TIME TO WRITE? In the evening my time (PST). I'm otherwise busy with work, irl stuff or gaming. gotta get my daily frontlines kills

― ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE(S)? I used to think I had almost nothing in common with Judas but. We absolutely are more alike than meets the eye. Deep down, we're both petty and do things for Spite and Attention lmfao. A lot of the aesthetic I enjoy is also shoved onto him. Cillian shares my aesthetic for outfits and my love for collecting plushies, but nothing really more beyond that. Ronan has my love for extremely bland, white people food. Hilariously enough, I see the most of myself in Carmine despite him technically being a canon muse. Both of us have no idea what the hell is going on at all times, and all we know is that we're bored and pissed off and need to blow off steam. Also the color red. And blood.

sure, we definitely do! editing is a lot of fun to first get into, so let's get started.

this got pretty long, so i'll put it under a cut!

Tips On Starting An Edit Blog + Improving Your Editing

tips for starting an edit blog -

you should start out thinking about what you want to offer. you don't have to offer every kind of edit from the start - you can start out with only a couple and then build up (or not!).

one of the first things you should do is create example edits. this'll show people your skills and encourage them to request. post a couple of these before you do a promo, and keep a few in a queue to post later.

one of the first example edits should be your layout! but you also should think about that.

do you want to use reply icons? do you want to have a dni image you add to posts? do you want no header? it's all up to you! you don't even have to make your own layout if you don't want to.

you should also work on your main post before you go onto the next steps! some people use carrd or rentry for all their information, but i'd suggest keeping it to your pinned post at the start.

what to include in this - what edits you can do, what fandoms you edit for, whether your requests are open or closed, your whitelist + blacklist, and your dni + rules.

promo's are highly encouraged in this community! a lot of editors are happy to boost smaller blogs and it's the best way to gain your first few followers.

some blogs don't allow promo's, but many do, so don't worry about tagging a bunch of editors! always specify in the post that people can message you to have their @ removed. It's just politeness, i guess? also, say please and thank you, and include a bit about yourself and what you do on your blog.

other than that, a lot of running an edit blog is complete luck! sometimes tumblr will show your blog to a lot of people, sometimes it won't.

your best bet for keeping up getting requests etc, is to post regularly, even when you don't have requests. self indulgent edits, gifts, etc, are a great way to remind your followers that they follow you and can request, and can also bring more people to your blog.

otherwise, just have fun with it! you don't have to be a perfect editor from the start, nobody is (we still cringe thinking about our early edits), so don't worry about that for now. just have fun making and posting edits and requests and notes will come your way.

tips for improving your edits -

follow tutorials! we have tutorials of course, but there are others around too!

ask your favourite editors for advice! a lot of nice editors are happy to give you a bit of advice if you shoot them an ask. ask them how they do specific things, or even how they feel about their own edits.

practice! i know, this is kind of obvious, but it really is just trial and error. you get better at editing the more you do it.

experiment! try to recreate cool edits you see, try new styles, try not to get too comfortable. it's easy to stagnate at editing, and though that can fine, it's a lot more fun if you try new things every now and again!

otherwise, honestly? it really does just come with practice and effort. you can follow all the tips and tutorials in the world and you still might not be happy with your edits. but that is okay. it's a common feeling across the community, and we all understand.

.... for the past couple days since New Years hit us in the face I've seen my mutuals just... moving blogs and all that to start fresh aside from ships, relationships and the like and honestly, that kind of motivated me to do such since I'm... frankly unhappy with how this blog is looking recently, but I'm also in quite a big dilemma since I hate making choices and I wanted to be more open with you guys for a moment. Again, I've been thinking deeply on whether making this post or not but I think it will be worth it in the end (or I just wasted some of my time typing, who knows.)

On one hand it'd make me feel better and refreshed to move from here, starting with a theme, carrd and all that fancy stuff; especially with a better organization of my tags from the beginning since I feel my tags are... all over the place as of currently in comparison to my other blogs; as well as I'd have a way better sense of making my verses since I just... well, kind of hoarded lots of them with some that I barely dont use (if not straight up abandoned behind one starter call and/or headcanon post since I made them specific to one 'dead' fandom or whatnot). And also that I, somehow, get some quite mean/meaningful intended anons here for things that I did or not so hopefully moving places would make them disappear or even just appease them.

But on the other hand... this blog of mine has so much memories!! This is my oldest blog (November 2017!!) on this website, old peeps that were mutuals with me that still lurks in my followers list because the good times!! I had with them in the past!! before my hiatus are just!!!! And like, recently a few old mutuals of mine have been coming back to this site on a way or another with their older tumblr blog, or even just!! Keeping them there!! For the memories!! I put so much hard work on this blog and my writing over the years, especially with Cat (@/faultfindingfirebot) being such an old mutual of mine and developing our characters together!! All the memories with that ship is just!! Lurking here!! Everything is here!! With a simple mouse scroll through their blog tag!!

I know that moving blogs doesn't necessarily mean having to delete this blog, but still!! All the memories (even the cringe ones) are here and I just!! Don't want to lose this treasure y'know? I started on tumblr with this blog and I hoped to die on this hill still here! Maybe I'm just unnecessarily being emotional over this clusterfuck of a messy blog, but still! There's development from both me and the way I write my character with so much joy and not carrying much about fancyness! But apparently fancyness has become a major point in every rpc, to the point of really making me feel legitimately scared and/or hesitant to approach because some writers really despise mobile writers somehow... and it doesn't do wonders to my anxiety honestly.

So... Again, it might sound stupid of me to be emotional over this blog instead of quickly moving on like normal people should but as I mentioned repeatedly before... The memories that lures around this blog are one of the most important things that I could've asked for and this is why I'm opening up to you guys because I want to establish more communication with my mutuals publicly since I always sucked at keeping a stable conversation with each and everyone.

I reckon it might sound straight up weird for me to feel attached and just not do it like a normal person would and move blogs already without letting one's mind out but... I really, really cant help it at all. And I just couldn't stop it from happening too, even though I tried my best to avoid it. But scrolling back on this blog sometimes to see all the good and bad things me and High Tide has gotten through is just... developmentally nostalgic in a way, and sometimes I like to relive the old times no matter how cringe it seemed with both new and old time mutuals.

TL;DR: Should I just stop whining around and move on to try new experiences or stay here where I always belonged?

Thank you so much! I've seriously considered selling prints of my posters, as a lot of people were very interested in my Dawn of the Dead design, but!!!! I'm not the one who took the original photographs of mcr that I'm editing, and I'd feel very wrong making a profit off of posters including images that Do Not Belong To Me, even if the photos were taken upwards of 15 years ago. What I'm considering is making some sort of carrd or link on my tumblr to download HQ versions of all of my poster designs, so you can print out and display them at home without me directly selling them and making a profit off of them. Maybe I'll display a ko-fi link or something on my tumblr if someone really wanted to tip me for posting my silly little poorly-made posters, but that's def not necessary (of course). Thank you so much for your (and everyone else's) interest, it really does mean a lot to me that people genuinely think my shit looks good!!! I never expected people would actually like it. I'm currently practicing making tour/gig posters for bands, maybe someday I'll be able to make a real one.

FFXIVwrite 2022 Recap

(To start, here's a link to the 2022 masterpost, just in case I haven't spammed the link enough elsewhere.)

During the last two writing challenges, I was working the night shift at an exceptionally shady hotel, which made it difficult to carve out time to participate. I got a chunk done for 2020, but for 2021, I think I only managed two. This year, I have a much more normal human schedule and I had high hopes of leveraging that to write a lot more.

I did alright, I think. I got 24 of them done, though a few of them didn't quite make it in before the deadline. That's... yeah, that's pretty good, I think. I had hopes of getting one done every day, but while my new schedule is better, it's not perfect. I usually only had a window to write within a narrow time frame somewhere in the hour or two before the daily deadline, which sent some of them squeaking in perilously close to the deadline, and some of them well after it. A lot of the writing felt rushed, and I felt like I kind of ended up going back to the same few wells a lot, and if I'm being honest, those wells were, uh, well frequented in 2020 already.

But.

Hey.

Altogether, I did more of the prompts in 2022 than I did in 2020 and 2021 combined. That's kinda neat.

It's always kind of interesting to see what gets traction and what doesn't, and to see where that overlaps with the things that I wrote that I actually liked. So, what did I like? Well, I had fun with the freebie prompts this year, using each one as an excuse to delve into this blog's titular dumb hat. If you haven't seen those and you're curious, you can find them at Heirloom, Perspective, Memory, and Dumb Hat. I also really liked Row.

Honestly though, while I set out to write more this September, the main thing I wanted to accomplish was just to make this little blog feel a bit like home again. I've never been one of the great (or even good, or even mediocre) tumblrers, but once upon a time, I was kind of active. I know everyone says that the writing challenge is about building a daily writing habit, but (for better or worse!) it really helped me rebuild more of a daily tumblr habit. Well, I mean, outside of reblogging bird comics almost every day. I was weirdly consistent about that, somehow.

I'm not sure how well I'll maintain the presence, but hey, let's pretend I do. So, what's next?

I dunno. I should probably redo that LFRP /masterpost like I keep saying. I should really touch up the carrd, too. That thing's really out of date, and one of the (late, unsubmitted) prompts I did was a rewrite of the little thing I had on there anyway. Which probably means I need to either take or cajole @luck-and-larceny into taking some new screenshots. I've got a handful of asks from right before the challenge started, and a prompt/meme/whatever-thing or two I was tagged in during the challenge, so I should probably get those done, too.

Or, hey, I could just keep reblogging the rude bird art. There's always that, right?

ooc updates!

long(ish) post, beware!

hello everyone! i have this bad habit of starting something and then immediately abandoning it, so i am doing my best to not do that here KSFJGSFKJG! jokes aside, today is finally the day i'm doing "spring cleaning" (can you do that on an account that's barely open?), so read on for a couple of important updates! some of this stuff is eventually going to be moved onto my page fully, but for now i just need to get it out of my head and on the dash.

1. i...belatedly realized i had a brain fart when i set up the account and forgot to open my askbox. asks are on now! (anons will not be accepted.)

2. i'm going to be finishing up the tumblr page tonight: adding bios, rules, etcetera. i have a rules doc as of right now (which i'll be adding to the page for easier reading), and eventually i'd like to make a full doc/dossier for each character, but it's just not viable with my schedule at the moment.

3. after i finish up the page, i'll create a pinned post (for easier legibility on mobile that can't see desktop themes) and a starter call! i'm always open to dms from mutuals—i'm a bit crap at plotting because i tend to run on how the characters and writing styles vibe together, but i'm always open to it! you'll just have to bear with me.

4. speaking of a starter call, i'm also going to be double-checking my moots rules/carrds and such, as well as filling out any interest trackers. been swamped with work, so i just want to make sure i haven't missed anything.

5. i'm still very new to indie rp here on tumblr, and therefore i don't understand some terms yet (if anyone wants to explain mains and exclusives to me i would love you forever). but if i ever interact with a character that's exclusive or anything, just shoot me a message and let me know! i likely didn't even realize.

6. (this will be added to the page later!) just wanted to touch on how i'm handling show versus book canon. first of all, i love the show, and it is indeed what inspired me to start the account, so that's where a lot of my inspo is coming from right now. i treat the show as almost like an au from the books—because i think it is: they did an amazing job respecting the source material, but i'm well aware it's not 100% accurate. plus, it's been a bit since i read the books—honestly, i'm due for a reread lmao. so, my main verse for kaz, jesper, and wylan will be shadow and bone (tv). i am completely open to writing in the six of crows/grishaverse novel canon, and if you would prefer to write there, that's awesome—let me know! just know that (as of right now) the show is my default. [ nesha is going to be a bit different, so i'll play him more on a case by case basis. ]

Notes: I'd prefer no ocs unless I feel comfortable around you even then it's a maybe. I'm likely open to Rick and Morty cross overs and other similar shows. I have a ton of aus after all that likely can fit in with those.

I'm on mobile a lot due to my laptop breaking and I have chronic health issues so my energy varies I may not be able to reply daily due to it.

Also as a warning I really enjoy dark fictional content and enjoy exploring it safely in roleplay. Pure fluff tends to not be my thing unless it's building up to something awful or I'm in a rare fluff mood.

The only other thing I ask is just read my carrd info I guess. Eventually I'll make one for rp but for now my main one is ok until I add a section for rp.
