today is my five year anniversary with my wife :) lil post about our dayyyy~

in the interest of saving money pLUS we are both homebodies lol we decided not to do anything Huge and instead grab brunch at our favorite spot and do some splurge shopping in our neighborhood!

we had finally resolved health insurance issues and picked up my medicine at the pharmacy and the price went from $140+ to $5!!!!!! we went bananas lmao. then we stopped at the record store~

and bought UGLY SEASON by perfume genius on vinyl!!! it's so freaking good, the acoustics are nuts and it's such an experience listening to it this way.....

then we went to my fav bookstore and i picked up kelly link's latest short fiction collection and the new black horror anthology edited by jordan peele

(my wife did not want any books this time, they go thorugh reading phases and i'm an All Year Reader) i am SO excited for both of these

THEN, we went to the pet store and bought our dog some new kong balls and a new antler lol because we can't have a nice day without also treating the dog we are so obsessed with her

THEN what i'm most excited abt was we needed more olive oil and we went to the middle east bakery's grocery side and found some from west bank in palestine

and we ended our shopping spree with a stop at the dispensary for some more weed!

when we got home, we had coffee, played some games, and then.... took a long ass nap LMAOOO my wife is still asleep but i'm up and listening to Ugly Season again ✨

it was a really fun day. at brunch, we were able to round up our bill to support the shelter we adopted salem from, which was really nice.

i love my wife that is all. thank u for reading

can we talk about how most all artists have developed their creative voice through the pandemic and the other horrible, life-changing things we've gone through? it's bittersweet, but so beautiful at the same time, to see my favs expressing themselves in such unique ways.

billie went from being purple to golden, harry is writing such sweet, coffee-shop-y, 90s soft disco/indie music, rosalia wrote a freaking collage instead of an album, mitski is getting louder in some strange way...

here's my opinion of harry's house:

music for a sushi restaurant: felt very 90s video game energy. i woke up and the first thing i did was listen to this, and i want to set it as my alarm. i would wake up with a smile on my face, ready to complete my little tasks of the day.

late night talking: i really just wanted to get up and dance. the harmonies are amazing. just. wow.

grapejuice: right off the bat, i'm horny. it's a hot song. H de horny, de harry, de "here i am: comeme todo el grapejuice". i want to have sex to it. the counting? my insides are twirly. but it's also weirdly romantic? like, we know, harry. you've had sex and it feels great.

as it was: disco crying. it feels like sobbing in the floor of a narrow bathroom at a party hosted by someone who hasn't acknowledged you all night. you can try to fool us with the jumping, fun music video but we know the truth. it's sad.

daylight: the lyrics. he's on the roof and they are on an airplane???? he's trying to reach them. i'm crying. also at 1:05 when the drums come in???? it feels so helpless. he's trying so hard. + the ending? devastating.

little freak: you're walking out of the bathroom at a party after crying. tear-streaked, lights everywhere but on you. you're insignificant. little do you know, someone is watching you as you look down to your feet. they're forcing their twitching hands to stay still, and if they don't concentrate hard enough, their body might just intuitively reach to you.

matilda: sobbing in big sister. literally, crying in the library in front of the books i study for everybody but myself. "you don't have to be sorry for doing it on your own". also that 7th on the outro?? goosebumps. i am a new person after listening to matilda.

cinema: okay i was definitely spiraling and this is the best. i can't wait to get the vinyl and listen to this at 2am. "do you think i'm cool too, or am i too into you?". that's it. the adlibs on the last 45 seconds. i'm alone this evening at home, and i'm definitely going to scream the adlibs. pray for the neighbours.

daydreaming: okay harry we get it. you're good at sex. you're a romantic guy.

keep driving: summer. listening to this song after failing my drivers test. driving in a convertible with a bandana on your hair, eyes closed and arms in the sky, laughing with your whole chest. did he just say side-boob? as he should.

satellite: bo burnham spiraling vibes. it's so bittersweet. you know when you're hanging out with a friend and someone they know comes up and starts talking to them? and you're standing on the side, waiting to be interesting enough to resume whatever you were doing? like a satellite.

boyfriends: i genuinely don't give a shit about harry's sexuality, but i hope he finds peace. now, onto the commentary. men are trash. it's vulnerability, it's trying over and over again. what's worse: it's asking him to try. it's him dismissing you. it's confusion. this one broke me.

love of my life: again - the harmonies??? hyperventilating rn, and im not even joking. a love letter. AAAAAH THE PIANO THINGY. I'M SHAKING. THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL.

week one hundred and twenty seven

okay.

i've been playing so much stardew (and reading ao3)!

did my weekly grocery shopping on monday and also picked up a vinyl for my sister that i had ordered and managed to get myself a puberty 2 vinyl as well while browsing the store hihi.

on thursday i had a presentation together with my classmates d, e and o. d's so pretty and smart *dies*. she had dyed her hair (or well, retouched it) and it looked so nice. i think i MIGHT (!) be developing a crush. i don't know. TRUST ME I DON'T KNOW EITHER HOW I CAN MOVE BETWEEN PEOPLE SO QUICK!!!!!!!! only thing is that she's very short which had always for me been like... a thing i don't really like. LIKE I KNOW IT'S NOT GOOD TO BE VISUAL LIKE THAT but... it's okay to have a few visual preferences... right? or am i problematic?

i have however always thought she was pretty during the online lectures back in the fall too. literally after my first day i remember thinking about how pretty i thought she was and how i'd like to be her friend... or something along those lines...

right... presentation. we had about influences in k-pop and i had about queer influences but i was so nervous TT d like... nodded and hummed and agreed and stuff throughout the thing which in a way helped but you know, i was still stumbling over all words and repeating information and only looking at the floor and my hand was super shakey... like to the point where o mentioned it when she was trying to comfort me afterwards TT she was like "oh no, you did well, one could tell your hand was shaking but other than that it was really good!"

on the brighter side, i received a lot of questions afterwards, which i now realize could just be because i explained it poorly, so that was nice. however i once again got nervous and like... couldn't perfectly explain things so d jumped in for me and answered and gave shorter and more concise answers. i'd like to think she did it because she noticed how uncomfortable i was. i was impressed how much she knew about the subject but i guess it makes sense since her part of the presentation was about black influences in k-pop and you know, black and queer culture have a lot of history together and queer history includes mainly people of color. it was still impressive though.

i talked briefly with her and s after class and i walked home feeling like i might have some friends soon. so that's exciting!

on friday i went shopping with m. it was a lot of fun but i spent so much money... we went to some stores then had food then more stores then a sweet treat then beer. i'll list a quick haul: halfaxa vinyl, maroon nail polish, foundation, eyeliner and a hair repair oil thingy.

we also... kind of planned a trip to dublin for funsies... to see twenty one pilots next year... we might fuck around and go... we have over a year to save up for it so you know... it's fineeeeeee. i'm so glad we both love ireland.

yesterday was my sister's birthday. i gave her an orville peck vinyl and a shirt with pedro pascal on it. her two fav things, country and pedro. i was nervous she wouldn't like the shirt but she ended up wearing it for when her (our?) friends came over, a, j and l. we had white people taco night and then played mario kart and mario party. it was a lot of fun!

our shower drain is clogged so today's laundry day so i can wash the bathroom rug that ended up being... quite nasty after the shower that made us realize the drain was clogged. i had to do my laundry soon anyways so it's fine.

i used to really like doing laundry but now it feels like such a hassle. i booked the same machine twice today so i had more time to wash everything since i think i wanna wash the rug seperately from my clothes and then i obviously have to do seperate color and white washes. so much work.

Describe your dream house - I want something that's very rustic, bright and classy. Maybe a French-Country kind of thing with a splash of boho. I've always pictured myself having a house that looked kind of ranch style on the exterior. Inside, lots of beiges, creams, tans, white brick, etc. Some wicker furniture pieces and light fixtures. Big kitchen with an island and also white cabinets that have little windows on them, open concept, big windows so everything is bright when the sun comes in. Barn doors for the pantry. Light coloured vinyl or hardwood floors. Big wooden beams on the ceilings. I also want a big back yard so I can have a fire pit and a patio. My idea of my "dream house" is very specific, and I have an overwhelming amount of inspiration pictures on my Pinterest lmao. - On another note, if I'm allowed to go crazy... say if I won the lottery and was allowed to have outrageous things in my house I'd want a spiral staircase, a bookcase that's secretly a door that leads to a beautiful reading nook or little library. I'd also want a Koi pond built into the floor. I love Koi ponds and I've always thought if I got really rich and I was going to do something weird and outrageous, that's what would happen.

What's your top 5 songs at the moment and why? - Maroon by Taylor Swift because Taylor put something in that song that I cannot explain. The chorus and bridge make me feral. - Anti Hero by Taylor Swift. a) Relatable. b) a good beat. c) I'm a monster on the hill - About You by The 1975 specifically for that one verse. Also it feels dreamy. - All Too Well (10 Min Version) by Taylor Swift for obvious reasons. Also this is my all-time favourite song to exist in the universe. It'll always be on the list. - Another Love by Tom Odell for that bridge (I also didn't want to write Taylor Swift again because it makes me feel annoying)

What's your favourite memory from school? - Any memory during Halloween or Christmas time when we got to colour pictures and do crafts :')

Whats your least favourite memory from school? - There's a lot tbh. Probably when my math teacher accused me of cheating on a test in the sixth grade in front of the whole class. It was so embarrassing and untrue. (The reason behind it was that I was new to middle school and put the test in my locker because I didn't finish it, thinking 'oh I'll finish at school tomorrow' instead of handing it to the teacher. Obviously not well thought out, but he was way too extra about it lmao)

Whats your relationship with your parents like? - Strong and healthy

Describe one of your favourite people - One of my favourite people is a friend of mine. I met her at work a couple years ago. She's very personable and friendly. When we first met, she was new at work, and she crossed the whole store the second she saw me and introduced herself which I thought was just so friendly. We have very long coffee dates and she shops at thrift stores but somehow finds the best and cutest clothes.

Talk about your favourite tv show as a kid - OMG. I think my all-time fav show as a kid was Little Bear. Obviously it was about a bear who was little and he had all these little animal friends, and they'd do fun things and go on small adventures, mostly in their imaginations I think. I loved that show so much and some of my fondest memories of being a kid was when I was watching Little Bear.

Talk about a band you loved as a teenager - The 1975!! I went through this phase in the tenth/eleventh grade where I was obsessed with them!! It faded a bit and now I still listen to their music, but not as avidly as I did then. I remember I loved them so much I would write stories based off of their songs lol

Talk about your favourite historical period - I'm always really inspired by the Victorian Era. I think I just find it very fascinating and it reminds me of the fantasy genre a little bit lol. The furniture was so detailed and unique, and I just love the history that's there. Obviously, I know it wasn't sunshine and roses to live back then, but I've always loved it for some reason.

Share a recipe you love - Chicken Tortilla Soup is my favourite!! (Doesn't really matter which one - they're all the same on google)

How many children do you want and why? - About 2-3. I don't really have a good reason why. I can see myself with that many.

What's your favourite season and why? - Autumn <3 I love autumn because I feel like that's when the year comes alive, ironically. That's when my favourite fall drinks come out, favourite clothes (like the sweaters), the trees are so pretty, corn mazes, pumpkins, apple crisp and apple pie and other baked goods, the weather is generally really nice; crisp mornings but warm afternoons. I also love that Halloween and Christmas are coming up because those two are my favourite holidays. Taylor Swift albums usually come out in the fall and it's also Red Album season. On a more real note, I also just start to feel a little bit better. I find summer makes me a little nostalgic and sad, so when fall rolls around, my spirits lift.

Write a review for the last book you read - AMAZING. 10/10!!!! PLEASE READ!!!! I read The Stolen Heir by Holly Black and I loved it! I saw some people give solid critiques to a few things, but I disagreed a bit. I thought the main character, Suren, captured my attention right away and I fell in love with her. I feel like I might need a little more time with Oak to fall in love with him, but Holly made me fall in love with Suren within two pages which I think is such a testament to who she is as a writer. It was also such an incredible journey throughout the book, and the ENDING. I can't wait for The Prisoner's Throne <3

Describe an essay/story you wrote in school - I remember writing an essay in grade ten where I just trauma dumped on my teacher. Got an A though.

Whats some life advice everyone should know - This isn't really life "advice" but just a general tip which is that everyone should stop engaging in hustle culture because it's a disease.

If you got $500,000 what would you buy - A car, another cat, and maybe an apartment.

i listened to the songs you recommended and totally love them, especially the cilla black songs. i haven't listened before but i love her voice. and i only knew a few marianne songs beforehand, like as tears go by, which i love. there’s still so much music to discover!

which record did you last buy? i think the last one i bought was a byrds album bc it was pretty cheap. but i love physical media and apart from records i’m in love with a little 60s camera i have, it comes everywhere with me :-)

you said you’re into films – what’s your favourite atm? are there any you like watching around the holiday period? i don’t have a favourite but i like wes anderson’s early films, the cinematography and colour palettes are beautiful :D any recommendations especially for 60s-70s films?

and to answer the other questions, i do play a couple of instruments! i drum and play bass. piano always seemed very difficult to me, seems like there’s a lot of concentration involved. it’s like magic, i don’t understand it

the record i bought was help by the beatles! it's a dutch vinyl housed in a german jacket but at least it sounds amazing. working on my mission to get all beatles studio albums but they're literally the most expensive (in my local shops at least) so it's taking some time. do you have any goals like this in collecting, like completing certain artists or choosing certain pressings?

favorite film... i've been meaning to make a list of all my favs for forever but i just can't get around to it bc there are so many to remember 😭 well let's say the hours & times atm, it's in no way perfect but i still love it and admire everyone behind it

as for the holiday films, i guess i'll leave classics like home alone out, but right now i have a bunch of older christmas films in my watchlist (miracle on the 34th street, remember the night, etc), i suppose they're classics too in the us/uk but i've never seen them! only watched white christmas so far and was very surprised at how gay it was lmao. are there any christmas films you like?

it's hard to recommed films bc i'm always tempted to recommend directors instead of certain titles, but:

(gay) drama: midnight cowboy (1969) and the boys in the band (1970)

comedies: the apartment (1960) and paper moon (1973)

musicals: funny girl (1968) and my fair lady (1964)

horror: the innocents (1961) and what ever happened to baby jane (1962)

i get what you mean about the beatles albums! atm i'm very into help since i've been listening to it on vinyl lmao. and i like the way it has this early sound but the themes of some songs aren't quite as straightforward as i wanna be your man for example - i'm mostly referring to you've got to hide your love away, but i see the same theme in it's only love. adore both of george's songs on it too. my absolute favs though must be the white album and mmt! rubber soul is very close to them too

i always felt a bit weird about choosing a favorite beatle bc it feels like choosing your favorite child 😭 but i gotta admit i mostly lean towards john and george, esp john. what about you?

I finally have MY turntable ! (And even if it isn't as good as my father's, I have a better sound installation, nothing too fancy but still~ Also, wow, it's automatic! What's that sorcery?!? The first time the plater stopped on its own I felt f e a r )

Prequelle... Now I think I can say it is my fav Ghost record. And I'm so lucky to have this red edition! I bought it early 2019 when I was still living in southern France (near Marseille). It was in a random shop (*tousse* Charlemagne *tousse*). It's been there for mooonths... Just... I'm so happy I could grab it!✨

Oh and I don't remember exactly what was the meaning behind it but the funny thing is the knight figuring on the vinyl's cover isn't at the same place than on my delux CD's. (Vinyl: at the right, at the entrance of that demonic monster/hell's mouth. CD: at the left, under the reaper/death, next to the cart full of corpses -fun fact: the historical "cart" is "charette" in French, while the modern "cart", used during house move and other handlings, is now called "diable" in French... "devil". So here we have the devil carrying corpses to hell's mouth. Yes I'm going to far but it's... entertaining ok?!-)

Anyway~ Fanfic tomorrow! And I may doodle stuff and post them during the week~

I have never felt so insulted or humiliated by someone today I went into the valdosta ga store to exchange some items that were sent to my cousin he is living with us by his aunt in another state everything was too small all I asked was to exchange for different items or sizes she paid with her children’s place card no big deal didn’t want a return I had 2 receipts because things were sent at 2 different times one packaged arrived this morning she proceeds to tell me this is complicated just going to return it I said no because it was on her card then I can’t get what he needs she said i’m just going to give you the cash I said ok whatever I just need different sizes of course it wouldn’t go through and she went to the back and got the manager she comes out and says no you can not get a return again told her I do not want a return I just need to exchange for different items she then picks up one of the items smells it and tells me in front of several other customers well these smell I said what excuse me they just came in the mail she looks at me with a face of disgust and not believing me and said they did I told her you know what forget it i’ll just mail them back and she can get a refund she tries to stop me by saying it’s ok we’ll get this figured out I again said no I am done i’m not giving your store any of my business she proceeds to tell me well i’m sorry if I offended you very unprofessional I can’t even imagine saying that to a family member let alone a customer I use to be a manager in a shoe store I can not even imagine to tell someone oh these stink btw everything had the tags I had both receipts and they were brand new awful customer service and now I have to pay out of pocket to ship these back never shopping with children’s place again btw asked a few other to smell the clothes outside of children’s place and they said they smelled like new clothes See Other related products: Beagle gorgeous, Christmas and shirt
