We watched TNG on television when I was a kid (as it was airing the first time!). One of my earliest memories (I was 4) is of Will Riker getting sucked into the big black Armus pool and how freaky that was. I remember the face coming up from the bottom.

And they saved him! he was okay. (Tasha's death did not compute in my very small mind). Will being okay in the end was part of "Star Trek means we're all okay" which is my earliest opinion.

Often this still carries over.

🌀 If the Holodeck was real, what's the first thing you would use it for?

adventure fantasy RPGs. I'd love to be able to play something like Dragon Age. It would be incredible.

I would also use it to test out fic lines and positions and make sure they make sense. I have no sense of inner eye, so that would be helpful. Where do her hands go...

I don't have any strong preferences about ships in some series. My levels of shipping are:

Ships I find cute on screen. (USS Enterprise-G)

Ships I would read fic. I would probably write fic for an exchange or a challenge. (USS Enterprise-D)

Ships I would write fic for, because I want the fic to bring myself joy and those are much more intense. (USS Voyager) I will land my starship on this planet.

Ships that are platonic for me and I adore them. (USS Protostar)

Ships where I want to read everything that has ever been written about them. I have saved all the artwork. I want to commission more artwork. (USS DIscovery) I will travel through the mycelial network for this ship. This ship is my home.

TOS - no ships. Never really had any. TOS is not foundational for me though, I don't think I've seen the whole thing and probably never will. It's so much men talking.

AOS - I have a soft spot for Spock/Uhura. I really liked Uhura.

TNG - I shipped Deanna/Will so much as a child. They're in my very first fanfic. I liked Beverly/Jean-Luc (historical) later, but not until I was an adult. Deanna/Will I shipped as a very tiny human. I have witten fic for both of these. I also ship Beverly/Deanna, and Beverly/Deanna/Will in a very lighthearted way.

DS9 - Jadzia Dax/Lenara Kahn is gorgeous and tragic and I adore them. Kira/Dax in a very lighthearted way. They're fun. I shipped Jadzia Dax/Worf when the show first came out and probably would if I did a rewatch, but it's a very mild ship (I wouldn't read fic). I am very invested in Jadzia Dax.

VOY - Kathryn Janeway/B'Elanna Torres is fun. I've read some fic. I love how intellectual they would be together. I wrote and read much Janeway/Chakotay (historical) about ten years ago, but I'm not as into him now. (Robert Beltran makes it hard for me). Still love Janeway. I also like Seven/B'Elanna.

ENT - I enjoyed Trip/T'Pol when the show was on. I don't think I've seen all of it. I love T'Pol.

SNW - I have a passing interest in Una/La'An and Una/Pike. I've read some fic but haven't written any. I want nice things for Batel/Pike in canon. (he needs to be a better partner to her though). I ship Amanda/Sarek here simply based on how convince I am that Amanda loves him.

PIC - Seven/Raffi are wonderful and I adore them. I love their connection and their dear faces. Agnes/Borg Queen are fun and dark. Laris/Zhaban are fun. I wanted to ship Beverly/Jean-Luc again but they didn't give me much. Shipper brain was not engaged. Deanna/Will were so angsty. Will & Beverly might be my strongest legacy ship in this show. I wish Beverly & Deanna got to talk.

PRODIGY - dammit here I almost ship Janeway/Chakotay again. I ship Janeway/happiness here so much and if finding him will make her happy, okay fine. Gwyndala/Dal are cute and I want them to have nice things. Haven't wanted to read any fic though.

Crossover Trek - Beverly Crusher/Kathryn Janeway has held a special place in my shipper heart for 13 years. I love them so much. I love that they're still going and they show up in exchanges. They would be such a good couple.

Philippa Georgiou/Afsaneh Paris was such a fun thing.

Most trek crossover femslash is fun and I would try it in an exchange.

DSC - Philippa Georgiou (captain)/Katrina Cornwell. They'd be cute. They must have met. Katrina Cornwell/Gabriel Lorca (prime), Katrina sold me on that one. Katrina Cornwell/Philippa Georgiou (emperor), they have a handful of scenes and they would totally work.

Michael Burnham/Cleveland Booker are very cute on screen and I hope they get a nice ending. (I think they will). Hugh Culber/Paul Stamets are adorable and charming. Adira Tal/Gray Tal are so sweet. Saru/T'Rina are the regency couple of Star Trek and they're very cute. They're so happy in season 5, I love it. I think Joann Owosekun/Keyla Detmer are really fun, I hope they get a nod this season. I love how much the actors do with a look. Michael & Tilly are one of my favorite friendships ever and I adore them. Michael Burnham & Philippa Georgiou (emperor) variety is so complex and intense and I love how they evolve and grow together.

Michael Burnham/Laira Rillak are my top tier, own my soul, ship. I will read every fic that is ever published of them and reblog the gifs on repeat forever and memorize every nuance of every conversation they've ever had. They are the shiniest thing in my fannish heart at the moment, and I have watched their scenes together so many times.

For years I was this obsessed with Beverly/Kathryn, but they didn't have scenes together so I couldn't rewatch them.

Micahel/Laira have scenes together! They talk to each other! I have a whole arc that I can watch on repeat!! I have different episodes to watch for different feelings I need for fic!!

They're so niche and I wish I had more people to talk about them with because I love them so much and...it is a very lonely ship. People do write fic and read it and it's tiny and lovely. I am so grateful for all the interactions I ever have about this ship.

I often feel very out of step in my fannish Star Trek spaces because they are not a ship shared by many. I feel seen when someone acknowledges how much I love them.

💖 What made you start writing?

I have been writing prolifically since I learned the alphabet but I think I first started writing fanfic as a teen because I had a lot of big queer feelings that I could safely hide on the internet and I wanted to be a werewolf rock star. which is still true

Technically the first fanfic I can remember writing was on a birthday card to a friend when I was seven and we were Darth Vader's kids avenging Luke Skywalker. Still here in Star Wars fandom decades later 🖖

❌ What’s a trope you will never write?

I'm all never-say-never because I like writing things spitefully. But I think I'll probably stay a stick in the mud about arranged marriages.

Second Star to the Right

I grew up fascinated with the cosmos, thus my major obsession with sci-fi shows and movies (especially Star Trek). It all started when I got my first telescope when I was a kid. It was a small, red refactor telescope (don't remember the lens size but it was pretty small). It didn't have much power, but it was very fun to use. I didn't know what to focus on when I was using it, so I mostly looked at the mountains in the distance, some bright stars at night but still didn't quite know how to search for things in the sky.

It wasn't until I got my 2" reflector telescope that I could start to see some better objects in the sky. That is when I first saw the Orion Nebula through a telescope for the first time. I didn't know what I was looking at at first, since it was so blurry and very dim through the telescope. But I knew I was looking at Orion in the sky and roughly in the location of where the nebula should have been, so I knew it was it. It was so fascinating to see..and ever since, I have been fascinated with the night sky, becoming an amateur astronomer from that point on. I pulled out this telescope every chance I got to look at things with my friends and family and any astronomical event that came my way.

I went onto college, where they had a student campus observatory. This observatory had an Astronomy Club (which I later became president of, and Angie, the vice-president) that would operate this facility, which included a 20" dobsonian/reflector telescope, multiple 13"/14" reflectors for portable use and in a dome with CCD imaging and a Takahashi refractor telescope in a dome with CCD imaging. I was able to see so many things in the sky with these telescopes and I cherish the time I had there to make use of these instruments to see my dreams come true of seeing the vast galaxy around us up close. I was able to learn how to use the CCD imaging telescopes to take so many pictures through the Astronomy Lab that the university offered, and I took many pictures to caputure these objects in the sky.

Although I don't have a telescope anymore, I have astronomy mode on my Pixel phones (started with the Google Pixel2 XL, and now currently Google Pixel 5) and have much enjoyed its capabilities to take many pictures around me to capture beautiful shots of the night sky!

Here's to hoping I can get a telescope again in the future and take even better shots of all of these!

i watched a smattering of TOS episodes growing up (i'm pretty sure Trouble With Tribbles was first) because it was my mom's favorite show when she was a kid. i also remember watching the 2009 movie in the drive-in theater but i guess neither left a big impact on me because it took a good few years for me to watch more.

✨ Has Star Trek had a personal impact on you?

yeah! i really only started being a fan in 2021 so it's not a formative media/fan experience like it is for a lot of people but it helped me through a pretty tough time and helped me accept & embrace being autistic (which... i think is a pretty common autistic Star Trek fan experience). it also inspired me to come back to tumblr & fandom spaces and meet some cool people like you <3

Far Beyond the Stars is memorable moment after memorable moment and Benny Russell's speech and breakdown is one of the best moments of any TV show i've seen but the quote at the end, "You are the dreamer and the dream." just forever left a mark on me. i've been obsessed with stories and storytelling for my whole life and something about that quote really gets at the contradictory nature of stories and characters as created objects reflecting the storyteller and independent creations that you as the storyteller discover.

whatre ur thoughts on the Velma show if you’ve watched it. (I saw ur user and I thought the new show was really bad and I am sad) u seem like you’re user is for old scooby doo

I haven’t actually watched the new Velma show (and i don’t really plan to, i have so much going on i don’t have time for normal television anyway),

I’ve only heard that it’s supposed to be really bad and that they make Fred a misogynist. (as someone who didn’t like fred as a kid, that still makes me sad cause he’s kind of just vibing. c’mon. like, man cries over his van. i cried when it blew up in that one movie and all that was left was the antenna ball. “this was her favorite antenna ball” *cue eight year old me sobbing at five thirty in the morning*)

but, scooby doo was my favorite thing EVER ages 6-8, and velma was actually my favorite character. (young autistic lesbian projecting.)

When I was just about to turn seven I found the movie Scooby Doo: Where’s my mummy at the library so my scooby and egypt obsessions ran in tandem for a while. I ended up getting a ton of the 70s scoobs on DVD.

i’d also go to the library for the newer movies and things like Scooby Doo and the Ghoul School, (which i miss dearly), a pup named scooby doo (which is wonderful and i still watch it), and 13 ghosts of scooby doo in all its low budget glory, with Flim Flam, Vincent Price, 80s Daphne, Scrappy, and shaggy in a red shirt for some reason.

i don’t think i should’ve been allowed to watch scooby doo and the phantasaur (which is so godly and amazing and i fucking miss it and has a guy velma!!! named WINDSOR!!! trans masc internal battle)and the live action ones as many times as i did. those were literally my favorites out of the dvds i owned and i vividly remember my dad asking me what the hell i was watching when i had phantasaur on. it’s also funny to see how oblivious I was to the raunchy humor in the live action ones, since my favorite was the one where they switch bodies, like the “i’ve got a chicks body” “i can look at myself naked” one.

But yeah, i love scooby doo and i love ranting on tumblr when i should be asleep, so, in short, my username is for old scooby doo, not the Velma show. Electric blue is also a reference to my favorite David Bowie song Sound and Vision, off of one of his Berlin albums, Low. Electric Blue rhymed with Scooby doo, so i paired them cause i love them.

AT HOME,AKA SANDRINGHAM. Did you Kids know that Sandringham 🇬🇧and Balmoral Castle 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿are the only two private residence that her Majesty the Queen owns? You do now😁😁

I am beyond ecstatic to know that this little tradition will continue with a new place, a new place for us anyways 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂 unless maybe some of you have been there that I’m not aware, but I have never been to Sandringham!We have not been here before Jim, 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂 all of us together, we are off on a new adventure now Spock 🖖!! Live long and prosper 🖖!

OK kids let’s start with a few facts before we get into the fun just so we get oriented and know where we are.Sandringham House is a country house in the parish of Sandringham, Norfolk. England, privately owned by her Majesty the Queen. Cromer is a coastal town and civil parish on the north coast of the English county of Norfolk. If you live in the UK you know these things already and I’m just sharing for everybody knows where were at. If you live in the UK or have travelled there or maybe  you have learned that the Cromer seafood is beloved worldwide! The crab 🦀 being the king, pardon me, Your Majesty. I don’t know if this show is available in the UK , but if you kids have ever watched The Deadliest Catch, on the discovery channel, I don’t even know if that show is still on, but it shows crabbing in the north of Alaska. That is not a job for wimpy people better than tough tough tough job being a crab fisherman! OK now back to Cromer.  The town is notable as a traditional tourist resort and for the Cromer 🦀 crab, which forms the major source of income for local fishermen. The motto Gem of the Norfolk Coast is highlighted on the town’s road signs. OK now let’s have some fun! The lesson is done now it’s time for recess Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂.

Oh what a job! Shifting everything from Balmoral Castle Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 to Sandringham! We bid a fond adieu to Balmoral Castle for this summer. What marvellous memories we made this summer. Next summer we will get up to it again when we kids! And now we are at Sandringham! Do you know kids this audio software it’s still does not understand Balmoral castle and some basic words that I have said probably hundreds of times I have to stop and do it manually this is definitely not a learning kind of software that adapts to words that you use frequently it’s quite annoying. OK that’s my little rant now I’ll stop and get back to our story! 📖 📚🤣🤣😂😂. Everything had to be packed clothes jewels oh can you imagine what what a project that is wow?  I’m so glad there are faithful loyal team I’m sure it went smoothly with Angela Kelly at the helm I am sure things went beyond smoothly! It takes a small army, plus security to move things back-and-forth. Her Majesty, The Queen reportedly hand-picked a team of royal aides to join the couple including Vice-Admiral Tony Johnstone-Burt, master of the household; Sir Edward Young, the Queen’s private secretary, and Paul Whybrew and William Henderson, her pages who are meticulously planning and coordinating the private family visits. So needless to say things are well in hand. Oh home at last summer sentimentalities to be home at last! Oh from the chill of Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 to the warmer south 🇬🇧 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 the leaves are turning color. 🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁The most beautiful time of year the leaves are reds, the yellows and the oranges are leading up to Thanksgiving which they don’t celebrate in the UK but we do and then leading to the holiday season of Christmas,the Holy season of Christmas. Can you tell kids that I love doing this?💜💜💜💜💜💜😊😊😊😊😊💜💜💜💜💜. 

Everything is sorted now, they are settled in, they had just taking a decompressing breaths to be back at home. Oh how marvelous. And knowing boys will be boys,no disrespect intended, Himself has a plan! Being so near Cromer, Himself just cannot resist the 🦀 crab. He tells Sydney, Sydney have Robert pop down to Cromer and pick up some crabs 🦀 🦀 🦀 for tea☕️! Herself  loves a crab 🦀 🥪 sandwich aka 🦀 sarnie😁😁😁.Sydney replies,  I’ll phone our source in the Town and get it all organised sir! It is almost like they’re smuggling something in or some sort of subterfuge going on they are planning some Sting Sting operation ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha i’m so sorry I can’t stop laughing ha ha🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂! Himself is chuffed that he will have a lovely surprise for his wife, knowing how much she loves 🦀. Very satisfied with his idea and looking forward to tea. OK I’m just going to add a little information here for those of you that aren’t aware an informal supper or dinner the evening meal is called tea in the UK unless it’s more formal or something like that but usually if it’s time for tea means it’s time for dinner supper evening meal whatever you call it. OK back to our adventure! Himself it’s so very pleased that he had the idea and says Aaaah, refreshments  🥃 🍺 🍸 🥃  🍻  🥂  🍾 and crab 🦀 sandwiches 🥪, Sydney, EPIC😁😁😁😁!!! I’ll inform the chef to remember to cut them in little 💎diamonds Sir! How sweet is that?, cutting them into a diamond shape for Her Majesty! Oh that warms the cockles of my heart ❤️ it really does ☺️☺️😊😊. Himself tells Sydney,  we will eat in the drawing room the fire 🔥 is so comfortable. It is October, in a few days after all and it is getting mighty chilly especially at night. Dear loyal Sydney,his reply, indubitably Sir, indubitably. I believe Sydney is very pleased that Himself had the idea to surprise Her Majesty with crab 🦀 and Sydney is probably feeling very very chuffed that he had a hand in having a surprise tea for her. We watched so much TNG when I was little. My parents were trekkies and TNG came out when I was 4. The first thing I remember is Skin of Evil, but I also have some really early memories of being kind of betrayed when Beverly left and thrilled when she came back. I remember Manage a Troi being really funny to me as a kid.

☄️ Your headcanon/s about a favourite character.

Eventually, Michael Burnham is going to be the admiral in charge of the whole of Starfleet, because she's just that incredible. Vance is already quietly planing his retirement when she's ready.

✨ Has Star Trek had a personal impact on you?

A huge one. I had a really quiet childhood (we were homeschooled until I was 11) and Star Trek was great for seeing how people interacted with each other, what professional adult relationships were like, how to be friends when you were an adult (much of this comes from TNG).

I also made so many friends through the fringes of Star Trek fandom, and had some really beautiful experiences at Star Trek cons, taking about Star Trek, plotting about characters...it's the media that's had the most influence on me in my entire life. Sometimes it's so culturally part of me it feels like the church I grew up or something. The sacred texts...
