what was Andrei like the moment he realized you were the love of his life and the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life building a family with?

hmm let’s see 🥰

i don’t think it was like a lightening bolt to the head kind of moment

it was a slow burn realization to a degree

he knew quickly that he really liked you and said that he loved you just about three months into dating

he knows from that point really that he doesn’t want to live without you, but that kind of scares him a little bit so he doesn’t say anything to you

he’s more affectionate and protective once he knows for sure that you’re it for him. his hand is always on your back or holding your hand, glaring at anyone that thinks to look at you

andrei’s the one that starts bringing up getting married about a year and a half into dating, making sure that you’re both on the same page

when he sees how great you are with his teammates’ kids, that’s more of a gut punch realization that he wants kids with you and as many as possible

andrei, with his brotherly relationship with geno, has always wanted at least two kids, but he didn’t think he wanted them when he was that young, since he was so focused on hockey

and you’re only 21 and 20 when you meet, so it’s definitely too soon for kids, but he’s absolutely thinking about it by the time he’s 23-24

geno confesses after you’re married that andrei had told him that you were the girl he was going to marry when you had only been dating four months

by the time he proposes, he’s had the ring locked and ready to go for 6 months and he almost proposes half a dozen times while he’s waiting for the right moment

mostly he’s just the biggest mush with you, affectionate and tender, treating you like the most precious thing in the world

for your headcanon night: slow mornings with andrei now that he’s in recovery/rehab from knee surgery

oh you know me, i am a sucker for soft, slow mornings. and i think that we are all missing our russian prince drei.

it might have been a little selfish of you to say but you loved waking up next to Andrei every morning

of course, you hated what lead him here. hated that he had to sit out for the rest of the season and watch his team fight for the dream without him.

but every single time you woke up and saw his hair splayed out on the pillow, his long eyelashes against his cheeks, the silver of his necklace a sharp contrast to his warm morning-sun-kissed skin...

yeah, it was selfish. but damn, you couldn't deny that you missed this.

every morning started this way. but each morning was different after you woke up.

sometimes you just watch him sleep, wanting him to get as much rest as he needed after giving his all for the past six months.

sometimes you woke him up with gentle kisses around his face, watching his eyes flutter open and he smiles and kisses you back.

(sometimes those mornings get a little more steamy, making up for lost time - so to speak. but sometimes it just stays like that - lazy kisses, encased in each other's arms.)

sometimes you sneak out of bed and prepare breakfast for the two of you. you always plan it on being breakfast in bed, but sometimes Andrei wakes up while you're in the process and pulls you back into the sheets while the coffee is brewing.

but on those days when Andrei doesn't wake, you go all out, pulling out all the stops. you carry it in on a tray and place it on your bedside table before gently nudging him awake.

and you sneak back under the covers, pressed together as you share the food you've prepared, going full cheesy and feeding each other, laughing.

and you might have added a little bit of champagne into the glasses of orange juice because, why the hell not?

but whatever way the morning starts, you're happy. because you get to spend all day with your best friend. what could be more perfect than that?

Thanks for requesting this one - I hope I've done the topic we discussed justice! So here are my thoughts on Svech supporting a partner with autism:

I feel like Andrei Svechnikov is the kind of guy who would need to research/learn about something in his own time. So if his SO told him that they thought they had autism/that they were going to the doctor to see if they would be diagnosed with autism, then he would absolutely be supportive...and then do his own research in his own time.

Not because he wasn't actually supportive, but because he wants to make sure he understands. Maybe it's the language barrier or maybe it's because he's never openly met anyone with autism, but he seems like the kind of partner to like to be prepared.

An autism diagnosis can be a really big deal, for both the person and their closest friends and family, and the first thing he finds out is that it's okay to be overwhelmed. Maybe he already know that his SO has been struggling for a while, so he's had a little time to prepare, but even if not, at least he would find out that it's okay to be a little confused himself too.

He also would find out that it's okay for him to be concerned for what it would mean for them as a couple - this could be a big change, and he would absolutely want to communicate with his SO about everything. Because they're a team, right? A unit, just the two of them, so communication is key.

Svech would also find out that listening is one of the biggest things he can do. That part isn't a problem - he already prides himself on being a strong listener, and he knows that, no matter what, that isn't going to change.

He would also find out all sort of things like the importance of supporting unmasking of autistic traits (if his SO has been hiding any, maybe he feels a little hurt at first, but quickly realises it was just their way of coping so he accepts this just as everything else), finding the right supportive resources and even support groups, and maybe even he takes charge in telling people if his SO asks him to.

Svech would absolutely be the most supportive partner he could, constantly educating himself and making sure that his SO knows that he loves them just as they are because that's exactly what he does - they deserve love, even if sometimes they think that they don't, and he's going to show them that every day.

🧠 Pick a character, and I'll tell you my favorite headcanon for them. idk about favorite but here are some thoughts below the cause they kinda long submit an emoji ask!

viv doesn't want to change her last name when they get married because she feels like it'll undermine the success she's made for herself and doesn't want the weight of his name to influence her own career trajectory

besides, the extra spotlight being his wife is something she already begrudgingly accepts and it just feels like his name is gonna add a whole extra layer

andrei understands but he is obviously disappointed bc he's always dreamt of her being vivian svechnikov

like it doesn't matter as long as he knows she's his but there's just something extra special about her accepting him like that

he goes as far as to show her exactly what seeing her wearing his name does to him

how the thought of her being his, in that way, drives him a little extra mad for her

and while it's tempting, she smiles and politely declines

but then at the rehearsal dinner the night before, when the officiant is having them sign the marriage license, she instructs them to sign the document as they want their legal signatures to look

andrei admires her, how beautiful she looks, unable to help the grin on his face when she finishes signing, pushing the license over to him to sign

his jaw drops when he goes to write his own name and sees that she signed, "vivian adams-svechnikov"

the pen clatters on the table and he's kissing her with an enormous grin on his face

gets scolded after for getting a pen mark on the tablecloth but he couldn't be bothered

if you wear a jersey around him, he’s basically an erection attached to a man - like he is instantly hard seeing you in the canes’ colors with his name across your back

you want to write more royalty au drei?? well, i have so many questions!!! what was the conversation with pyotr like when andrei tells him he loves the painter? what was going through sweet russian prince andrei’s head when he made the ring for the love of his life out of the twine from the canvases? what does their royal wedding celebration look like??

i love all these questions! and oh my goodness, i have so many ideas. i do have another wip of this au but who the hell knows when that will be out, so let's focus on these headcanons!

the thing in my head about Prince Andrei is that for the people that know him, like really actually know him, he's not fooling anyone

like sure - he has his father the king, the country, every one in court, and every single eligible maiden in the land convinced that he's still single and maybe a little picky because he hasn't "officially" announced his decision

but to the people that know him, they know the truth.

his mom slightly knows. she knows her son is in love but she's still not 100% sure who has captured his attention.

his brother figures it out within a few minutes of meeting you and seeing how Drei acts around you (that's basically the premise of the wip).

and Pyotr, the man who would lay down his life for Drei if need be? i believe he knew way before even Andrei realized it.

so when Drei tries to casually bring up the idea of "what might happen if I decide to marry someone who wasn't a princess?" after a fencing/sparring session with him, Pyotr automatically knows who's on Drei's mind.

and he says it. straight up. "like a painter?"

it catches Andrei off-guard but he comes to realize that it was stupid to think Pyotr didn't know. after all, he was a part of... whatever this tryst/relationship was.

and in response to Drei's question, Pyotr tells him plainly that "you're the prince. we all live to serve you. you can do whatever you want to do." (which is technically true but Andrei hates to think like that).

but maybe it's enough of a push for him to go forward with it, with this still somewhat crazy idea of proposing.

he knows that he can't give you the Svechnikov ruby. but he wants to give you something. and the idea of the ring comes to him one late night in your studio.

he sees you fidgeting with the fraying edges of one of your canvases, tugging at the strings. and realizes that it's perfect.

so he starts collecting. thankfully it's pretty easy. the canvases you paint are cut and framed somewhere else in the castle.

and if he happened to show up in the workshop, curious about the process and wanting to lend a hand, who's going to turn away the crown prince?

and no one notices when he shoves the trimmed edges into the pockets of the apron he's given.

the scraps are collected and Andrei spends many a night by candlelight pulling apart the threads, choosing a variety of colors and braiding the twine together.

and the emotions running through his head? it's a mess. he's excited about being with you. he's terrified that you'll never be able to officially be together. he's determined to make it so you will be. all of this continues to swirl around in his head until the night he finally gets down on one knee.

and as for the wedding... i'm still unsure about that. i'll brainstorm a little more. maybe it will be the third fic of this royalty au.

First time all star how? This boy has deserved to be there for ages, but he’s shining now and I’m so glad he’s getting the recognition he’s owed.

I can see him being both excited and nervous – he doesn’t know the ropes after all, doesn’t know the ins and outs. However, he does have enough teammates that have been to the All Star Weekend before so I feel he’d definitely ask them about their experiences and what to expect, with fond chirping in return.

I get the vibes that Andrei would get a little overwhelmed at first, with the sheer ginormity of it all, but I also feel like he’d settle in quite quickly, once he sees a friendly face or two that he knows. And even if he doesn’t know anyone particularly well, he’s definitely the kind of player who would just get on well with a lot of people, so he’d be laughing and joking in no time.

Other than that? Andrei is absolutely there to have fun. Not taking things too seriously, putting in effort but not busting his ass, just taking in the weekend as it’s meant to be.

Meeting all the fans would be a highlight I think. So would the social drinking with the other players in the evening but shh. At least a mild hangover on the second day for sure, but he’s far from the worst and definitely not the only one.

Andrei will definitely have the time of his life at the All Star Weekend, and the fact that it’s in Florida is only a bonus.

I can’t wait to see his happy face in all the PR stuff!
