Oooo is Spiderrose’s costume a Día de Muertos one? (It’s like Miguel bc his costume is also from Día de Muertos)

It's a combination of the sugar skull from Día de Muertos (the head/mask), those flowey traditional Mexican skirts (I believe they are called huipils, but that might just be the blouse, it is the back of the jacket), and South African Zulu clothing (the beaded necklace and belt/skirt along with the colors come from here).

So yes! A part of the costume does come from Día de Muertos! I'm probably gonna remake the costume at some point (along with maybe the name, I just put it there for a title). It was honestly really cool seeing the similarities between African and Mexican clothes! Some of the African skirts I saw while looking up Zulu clothes looked very similar to Mexican skirts I was seeing!

I didn't know Miguel's costume was also based on Día de Muertos until after I made Yinu's design. I was trying to look up Margo's ethnicity/race and found a fun fact about Miguel's suit having Día de Muertos inspiration. Now taking a closer look at it, I really do like the spider skull he's got going on!

My initial reasoning for doing so was because of Yinu's experience with the death of their father and how that holiday probably became even more important to Yinu than it was before. Which makes an even stronger connection if you want to think Papa was a spider person as well.

Yinu is basically trying to carrying on his memory through their spider work. Everytime he puts that mask on, he is following in his father's footsteps and trying to be the person his father wanted him to be.
