this is gonna be a really unwelcome take but.
...chapa has a really good mom. im sorry to say it.
her mom is genuinely caring and wants to help her daughter but it comes off as danger because of chapa's inherit personality and reaction towards this type of affection
Tumblr media
YOU GOTTA HEAR ME OUT FOR THIS ONE [and like really hear me out. this is a long one. sorry 😭]
lets just take it from the way she treats Bose and Sage. Chapa is known for being the angry and violent character and yet she's able to switch on this sort of almost motherly compassion when either of those two are distraught in some form. It's fully reasonable to determine that these are behaviors she's learned in her own home, based on the way her whole family paused their world to comfort Sage when she lost her imaginary friend. chapa's mom behaves the same as the other parents with the exception of being a little more stern which is normal when you're child frequently acts out and literally gets arrested for fun. there really isnt anything about their relationship to imply that the household is dysfunctional in anyway, in fact it implies the opposite but i'll come back to that later.
the two points that come first to mind in proving chapa is living in a dysfunctional household are (A). Chapa attempted to hide the fact that she has parents and (B). Her mom has canonically stated that Sage is her favorite child but hear me out these arent points that can be used to say that her mom is in anyway cruel or uncaring. her mother is literally normal
Point (A). proves that her parents genuinely care about her. Like, I want you to really think about what happened in that scene. Yes, she did go on this crazy facade of lying about her parental status, but thats because its nickelodeon and everything is exaggerated. Later in the episode she admits to lying about having parents due to not wanting her friends to make fun of her parents for being dorks. Honestly, if her parents were dysfunctional in some way they literally would've just said that. It couldn't have been censored due to it being a kids show based on characters like Bose and his dad, Jasper and his mom, and even Andre from victorious and his grandma. Chapa's parents, upon learning that there was a family night at school, dropped everything to attend [like, think about it. it was late at night. they were probably at home enjoying jeopardy when they noticed theyre daughter had just. vanished.] Also true that they went through her stuff to learn about the parent night, but this is proven to be a normal thing [although that does suck we can all agree that it sucks thats normalized] as the rest of the parents admit to doing it as well. I know what you're thinking. "Oh but Acid, she was clearly uncomfortable upon her parents arrival and was super uncomfortable when they went in to hug her" Yeah. That's cause that's Chapa De Silva. When has she ever been ok with affection of any form that wasn't from the core three or Sage.
Point (B) [and the one that gets me the most riled up] is literally. Normal. It's normal for parents to have favorites. Like yeah, it sucks. But it's normal. We have to take it into consideration the fact that Alejandra did absolutely everything in her power not to admit to Sage being her favorite. It had to be pried out of her with a truth ray, and even then how could she have known that her other daughter was in the room listening to her mother admit to preferring her younger sibling? But look at it from Alejandra's perspective. Imagine having two daughters, one of which is this absolute sweet heart, who is kind, caring, has a big heart and an even bigger imagination. And then your other daughter who has anger issues, violent ideas, outbursts, and frequently gets in trouble. Admit it, you'd likely prefer Sage as well.
"Oh but Acid what about their argument at the beginning of season three?" ...bro the one about the fact that chapa was getting arrested for shits and giggles? dude if i was a parent id also keep my child on a tighter leash if she got arrested twenty times in a row [exaggerated number i realize. but still.]
we need to appreciate that though all this, her parents have been caring and supportive of their daughter improving and getting better. canonically they had her in anger management, and were extremely open to the idea of family therapy when ray made a joke about it. and its been working! its noticeable that chapa has changed based on how differently she responds to violence in season one verses in season three. theyve been working as a family. and its been working.
i think the reason this makes me so mad is because we use chapa's parental status to justify the way she acts but like. theres nothing wrong with saying chapa has a problem and just needed help. like her personality doesnt have to be justified by saying she was abused. theres literally nothing wrong with being born that way and just needing some help. thats why this makes me so angry.
yall want her to be john bender so badly. bffr. [if yall dont know who john bender is get off my blog rn im being dead serious]
"oh acid why do you care so much why does it matter?"

Hey hey hey! Here are this week's newlywed questions! So excited!
Note: Once again, this week’s round focuses on photos! Dialogue is entirely optional, though for some of these, it’d be fun to know the story behind the pictures ;) Tumblr mobile only allows 10 picture uploads (there are 10 questions), so collages are highly encouraged! Otherwise, the non-beta version of Tumblr desktop will allow more than ten.
Have fun!

Hi Bree! These questions were so fun to answer, I loved it! 🤩 Thank you for sending these to me! 💖
P.S. : Ignore my mediocre editing skills, I tried my best! 😬
So lezz go!
FOR MEERA
Favorite childhood photo of Ethan
Meera : Ooh! Starting with a bang!
Ethan : No, Meera. Bree said favourite not embarrassing.
Meera : What if the embarrassing one is my favourite?
Ethan (with a snug face) : Fine then, I have ammunitions too.
Meera : You do?
Ethan (nods)
Meera (thinks for a moment) : Fine, so can we call it truce that no embarrassing pictures this round? (extends hand)
Ethan (shakes hand) : Sure Dr. Ramsey-Bose.
Tumblr media
Meera : After the infamous CPR pic, this has to be my favourite. Look at this kid. Isn't he adorable? 🥺 You were always a dog person, no doubt we are soulmates.
Ethan : That's Tito. He was the pet to an elderly couple that lived accross the street from us. He was a very good boy.
What’s your phone wallpaper image?
Tumblr media
Meera : This picture from our wedding is one of my favourite.
Ethan : Mine too.
Contact name and photo for Ethan
Tumblr media
Meera : He didn't allow the 🥵 emoji so I bargained it for the 🔥 one.
Ethan : I neither understand the purpose nor importance of this.
Meera : Try being a millenial to understand babe.
Top three photo results when you Google Ethan
Meera (chuckles) : Remember the first time you did this for the pictagram profile.
Ethan : I said this that day, I'll say it again, the internet is a scary place.
Tumblr media
Ethan : Officially off the market? What even is that?
Meera (not being able to stop laughing) : You look so cute when flustered.
Ethan rolls eyes
Meera : Okay this is the article from when you announced on national television that you are not single. And the rest two are your recent achievements.
Ethan : Yes but how is something from four years back still the top result?
Meera : You did break almost a million hearts that day.
Ethan (a huge grin on his face) : Damn. Bad luck, I am stuck with you.
First picture of or with him that you uploaded to social media
Meera : Oh my my I have to scroll waayyy back for that.
Ethan (looks at Meera's screen as she scrolls) : Howcome there are more pictures of me on your profile than yours?
Meera : Because you are hotter and more famous and that gives me much more likes and followers.
Ethan (shakes head) : Kids these days.
Tumblr media
Meera : So, a little backstory. Dr. Ramsey kissed me infront of the entire hospital on the day of the Gala. But then didn't want to make our relationship public. I agreed because everyone was not in a right mindspace with the hospital closing and losing jobs.
Ethan : We were also figuring things out since we no longer would be working in the same place.
Meera : Then the hospital got saved and everything went back to normal. But he still didn't want to make it public. Next he wanted to take me for a getaway before the hospital opened after the remodeling. So I told him that I had to make it public now.
Ethan : As far as I remember, you ordered.
Meera : Yes I did. You tell me Bree what was I gonna tell my roommates? That I am going away for a romantic getaway with my BOSS? So I had to make it public a week before we left with this post. And all my friends and acquaintances literally roasted us alive in the comments. (facepalms)
Ethan : In my defense, how was I suppose to know that every single person knew?
Meera : You weren't quite subtle about it babe.
Ethan : But at the end it all paid off. (kisses Meera)
FOR ETHAN
Favorite childhood photo of your spouse

Ethan : I'll delete the picture and the heart if you try to bring me to put one of those faces.
Meera : Okay, okay, I hear you. Better be happy with what you have!

Meera : Am I even famous enough to be Google searched?
Ethan : Ofcourse you are, darling!
Tumblr media

Ethan : That's not true see this one is about you heading the DT.
Meera : And the other ones are about our wedding and honeymoon respectively.
Ethan : Don't worry you will recieve all the recognition and love within a few years, I promise. (kisses her forehead)
Meera : With a husband and mentor like this, ofcourse I will.
First picture you ever took of or with your spouse
Meera : Shit! Why can't I remember this?
Ethan silently pulls out the picture.
Tumblr media
Meera : Oh yes this was in Miami, with Ines!
Ethan : Absolutely correct.
Meera : Now I remember. I was too afraid to ask you for a photo so Ines made you click one of us. And look at you know, my designated photographer for life!

Here we go!
For Both
What’s the most embarrassing childhood story you know about your spouse?

Describe your spouse in high school using memes or/and gifs only.
How old was your spouse when they had their first kiss? Who was it with?
If you two were the same age and had met in college, how would you have met? Would you have liked each other? Dated? Eventually married?
Which of your spouse's friends is the most attractive?
Who was your spouse's hero when they were growing up?
Can you name all your spouse’s exes before you?
Tumblr media
Bree, thank you so much for these! I loved answering them (and got a little carried away, hehe😅)! But seriously, thank you and love you❤️!
1. What’s the most embarrassing childhood story you know about your spouse?
Pooja: (Evil Laughter)
Ethan: Anything except that Teddy Bear tale.
Pooja: Anything?
Ethan: Why does that scare me?
Pooja: Because I do have some good stories to share about you (winks)
Ethan: My God.
Pooja: This story is around the time when he was 10 or 11. This man was quite an aspiring chef when he was young, I must say. So, it was the first time he was going to make pancakes and he was super enthusiastic about it. He was like, "you just put the batter, flip them and tada!"
Ethan: That's not true.
Pooja: Keep convincing yourself, sweetheart (giggles)
The preparation was going really nice, he had the batter made perfectly, all ready to pour. And then he switched on the stove, placed the pan and poured the batter in it. In the goddamn cold pan.
Ethan: Ugh.
Pooja: And then when he realized that the pancake was taking much longer than it should to get prepared, he put it on high flame and went to drink water. Safe to say, by the time he returned, the poor pancake was all black. 27 years after, he still cannot make them (chuckles)
Ethan: At least I try.
Pooja: (still chuckling) Definitely, I give you a point for that.
Ethan: Pooja's story is more about her trying to be a mini detective when she was 7.
Pooja: Oh no!
Ethan: Oh yes. It was her mother's art exhibition, and she, like the perfect kid she was, she walked all around the place with her mom. One lady, was very curiously gazing at one of her mom's paintings and then started taking pictures of them. Little Poo thought that she was going to carry out a heist and steal all the art pieces, so she took out her faux phone, went close to the lady, and said as loudly as she could, "Hello 911? One lady is trying to steal my mommy's art."
Pooja: She was being suspicious, I couldn't help it.
Ethan: Mini detective (chuckles)
2. What did they want to be when they were younger?
Pooja: Ethan actually wanted to be a chef until he pancake burnt up to ashes. After that, he wanted to be a detective.
Ethan: She wanted to be a private investigator too, later it was forensic investigator.
3. What was your spouse's favorite band in high school?
Pooja: Ethan's favorite was Snow Patrol, and I am glad to be married to a man with superior music taste.
Ethan: Pooja was not much of a band person. She was and still is, an old classic Bollywood music lover. But if I had to choose, Silk Road & Sanam, both Indian bands.
4. Describe your spouse in high school using memes or/and gifs only.
Pooja: Ah, yes, love this question.
Ethan: I will never understand this craze over gifs or memes or whatever they are called.
Pooja: Well, it's quite easy to guess, because I don't think there is much difference between this Ethan & that Ethan.
Tumblr media
Ethan: Pooja has two very clearly distinguishable moods, one when she is hyper productive,
Tumblr media
And the other when she is super lazy.
Tumblr media
Pooja: I- You just described my entire life with those two.
Ethan: I just know you well, Rookie.
5. How old was your spouse when they had their first kiss? Who was it with?
Pooja: He was almost 15 when he kissed his Highschool sweetheart, Eva. He wanted to make his first kiss a special occasion, with a date and all, but it just happened and I don't think he regrets it.
Ethan: She wasn't my high school sweetheart, we just liked each other. And I do wish that my first kiss was you.
Pooja: Aww, stop (blushing)
Ethan: (After giving Poo a cheek kiss) Pooja's first kiss was actually an accident.
Pooja: And here I was relaxed thinking you won't bring it up after the embarrassing story question.
Ethan: (Whole-hearted chuckle) But technically it was your first kiss, accidental or not.
Pooja: (Totally embarrassed) Whatever.
Ethan: This was when she was 14. There was guy in her class who liked her, and wanted to date her. One day, Pooja slipped on a puddle of water, and he, trying to help, held her hand. The next moment, he was on the top of her, lips touching.
Pooja: (in a pleading tone) Please, Pleease, Stop. It's too embarrassing!
6. If you two were the same age and had met in college, how would you have met? Would you have liked each other? Dated? Eventually married?
Pooja: Oh, most definitely! Honestly, I feel like us falling in love is inevitable.
Ethan: I do not believe in soulmate stuff, but it's unimaginable for me to not fall in love with you.
Pooja: (lays her head on his shoulder as he gives her a kiss on the forehead) I think we would have met as opponents at a debate competition. We would be the only two yelling till the end of the competition, trying to prove the other wrong, until the judges got fed up and asked us to stop. Even after the competition, we would still meet in the corridors and tell the other how wrong they were.
Ethan: After sometime, we would become friends over shared interests, and after getting to know her, I would naturally start to fall for her.
Pooja: Me too! I would be totally like, "No matter how much he yells and how wrong he was, he is still cute. And not a totally bad guy." We would gradually become best friends.
Ethan: I would be the one to comfort her when she discovers her crush is in relationship with someone else.
Pooja: And you would realize that you are in love with me (gives him an elbow nudge)
Ethan: (softly smiling) Maybe I would. And I would imagine you falling in love with me not much later.
Pooja: And then we would be sitting alone, talking about random stuff. Suddenly we look at each other's eyes, and before we realize it, we are kissing.
Ethan: We would start dating afterwards, all through med school and residency. I would definitely want to marry her, have a future with her. I like to imagine that I would be lucky enough and she would agree to be mine.
Pooja: No matter which universe, I would always agree to marry you. Every time.
(They share a soft kiss, heart full of love for each other)
7. Which of your spouse's friends is the most attractive?
Ethan: All her friends are quite attractive, even if she the only one who catches my eye.
Pooja: I am assuming that you mean all my current friends and not ex-friends. Or Landry.
(Ethan's face scrunches up in disgust and Pooja's question is answered)
Pooja: For me, it's Tobias.
Ethan: (Rolls his eyes) Him out of everyone else? You could have said Mark.
Pooja: Mark is attractive, for sure, but he has become more of my brother over time. Also, if he got to know it, he would never let me live it down (chuckles)
Ethan: But still, Tobias...
Pooja: You are jealous, aren't you? (Winks)
Ethan: (Quickly straightens his face) No, Of course not. I don't get jealous Rookie, don't forget.
Pooja: Sure thing, E, sure thing.
8. Who was your spouse's hero when they were growing up?
Ethan: Pooja and I have similar opinions on this. We don't have a hero or an idol. Yes, there are quite a few people who have inspired us, but we both don't have any hero. For Pooja, it was her parents, especially her mother. Later on, it was Kadambini Bose, the first woman from India to practice medicine and (gives a striking smile, bubbling with happiness) of course, me.
Pooja: (Mimicking him) Of course, me.
Ethan: (in a teasing tone) Is it not true?
(Pooja just rolls her eyes)
Pooja: For Ethan, it was his father and Naveen.
Ethan: You too, Rookie.
Pooja: (With genuine curiosity) Me?
Ethan: You have inspired me to appreciate the little things in life and to love myself. You have played a big role in making me the man I am today.
Pooja: (Sniffles) Did you come here with an aim to make me cry, Dr Ramsey?
Ethan: (Smiling at her) It's the truth and you should know it.
9. Can you name all your spouse’s exes before you?
Ethan: This is probably the easiest question for me to answer. She has had three relationships in total. A lot of crushes, but very few actual relationships. One was during her middle school, I guess his name was Shresht. The second one was with her best friend, Ayaan and lasted all through med school. The last one, is Me.
Pooja: The ones I know are Eva and Rosalie in high school, Renia in med school and Harper during his residency and after. Ethan has a number of casual and serious relationships and honestly, I am not surprised. Everyone wants to be with a man like him (Winks)
Ethan: You are the only one who can have me.
Pooja: (Places a hand over her heart) I am honoured, Dr Ramsey. And lucky, so damn lucky.
Ethan: I am lucky one here, love. (Gives her a forehead kiss)

Meet the Parents: Three
A/N: FINALLY finished with this. My midterm paper was taking over my life. I have a few more prompts to do before I start working on spooky stuff for Wednesday! I hope you all enjoy. Also, the face claim for CoCo’s dad has changed.
Word Count: 4488

The journey through post-secondary education has its ups and downs. As much as an institution can be a site for cultivating and molding the minds of tomorrow’s leaders, it also serves as an arena for young people to navigate life’s challenges and triumphs. From making friends, leaving with enemies, passing classes with flying colors and falling flat for the second time, college provides an opportunity for growth.
For you and Chadwick, not only had both of you grown as individuals but also as two souls forever bonded by the Howard University experience and the quiet beginnings of a long friendship.
Sadly, all great experiences must end. The freshmen that hit it off in 1996 by accident were now semi-adults preparing for their last hoorah before real life started.
Chadwick sat at the foot of your bed, engrossed in the basketball game on the television, while you flipped through your photo album and reminisced.
“Oh my goodness, look at Tanisha,” you laughed. “I don’t know who told her that dressing as a cigar was a good Halloween costume, but I’m glad they did. This shit is hilarious.”
“It was probably the girl standing beside her dressed as the most low budget Lola Bunny that I’ve ever seen.”
“Shut the hell up Mr. Too Cool to Dress Up for a Halloween Party. I was cute that night.”
“I didn’t say you weren’t cute. I said your hand drawn jersey and dingy bunny ears looked low budget.”
Using the fact that his attention was elsewhere as an advantage, you flung a throw pillow at the back of his head. “I really can’t stand you. Go home.”
“I want you to act just like that during graduation this weekend. Don’t let me see one tear or I’m clownin’ you at the celebration dinner,” he answered as he leaned back to lay on the bed. “Speaking of the celebration, your folks eating with mine or are we doing two separate things?”
You thought for a moment, using the fringe on your pillowcase to distract you from the brown eyes peering up at you. You’d passed the Mr. and Mrs. Boseman test with flying colors, and your family was all but ready to marry you off tomorrow after only a few meetings with Chadwick. Separately, you both got along with each other’s families. But, you weren’t sure how situations would play out once the Greene and Boseman clans united.
“You think they’ll like each other? Our families?”
“Why wouldn’t they? My parents like you and your parents love me. We’re extensions of those that raise us right? It should work itself out.”
“And if it doesn’t?”
“Then we’ll go get carry out together and eat it back at my place. It’s no big deal.”
“Everything is no big deal to you, Aaron.” Chadwick smirked and shrugged his shoulders. His nonchalant attitude about things not involving his work either infuriated or calmed your nerves. Today, it soothed your worries and helped you to make a concrete decision.
“Okay, let’s do it.”
Chadwick’s eyes shot from the television to your face to get confirmation of what exactly you were planning to do. “What’d you just say?”
“I said let’s do it!”
“Right here? Right now? I mean it’s kind of soon, and I was hoping it’d happen way different than this, but if you want, sure. Let’s do it!”
“Great! I’ll call my mom and dad and tell them we’re combining our parties! Should we match outfits? No, that’s too much. Red velvet or pound cake?” Your rambling became a background murmur in Chadwick’s ear once he realized how close he’d come to make an ass of himself.
After thanking God for saving him from an awkward mishap, he watched and listened to you plan the final get together before the inevitable separation occurred. You were taking a job offer to intern with the Hornets in Charlotte and Chadwick had long made the decision to pursue directing and writing in New York. For much of the Spring semester, the conversation about continuing the friendship long distance had been avoided. Neither of you were ready to think about life without the other.
Still, time can not slow down or be replaced. The days of the week began to blend together between parties, senior week activities, and graduation practice. Separate familial activities kept you and Chadwick away from each other Friday afternoon, leaving little room for serious conversation during a wild off-campus graduation party.
While you and Chadwick prepared for the grand entrance with fellow members of the Howard University Class of 2000, your separate groups of parents prepared for a meeting orchestrated by God himself.
“Where is Chadwick,” Carolyn asked, craning her neck around to look over the upper quandrangle housing the commencement ceremony. “First he wasn’t home this morning, and now I don’t see him here. The ceremony starts in ten minutes.”
“Then it makes sense why you wouldn’t see him out here then, right? The graduates aren’t just hanging around.”
Shifting her attention to her husband, Carolyn’s mouth opened to speak but closed as a family of three shuffled past her to take the last open seats in the area.
“Gerald, where is Tasha? The ceremony starts in eight minutes and she is nowhere to be found. She wasn’t at her apartment and she has yet to page me back. I will return that car to the lot the moment we get back home if she isn’t here.”
“Baby, the graduates don’t wait in the open before the ceremony,” Gerald answered. “C’mon, now. You’ve been through this before.”
Elaine’s mouth opened and closed, realizing that what her husband was saying was true.
“Don’t you hate when they’re right?”
Elaine whipped her head around to acknowledge the stranger, breaking into a small smile at the comment. “They never let you live it down. I guess that’s what happens when you’re wrong nine times out of ten.”
The women shared a laugh for a brief moment, helping each other to let go of some of the tension pent up from nervous energy.
“What’s your baby’s name?”
“Tasha Greene. She’s graduating from the School of Business.”
“So you’re the woman my son says I need to meet,” Carolyn laughed. “Now that I’m looking at you, I definitely see the resemblance.”
“I’m sorry, am I missing something,” Elaine asked with confusion taking prominence on her soft features.
“My son, Chadwick, talks about your daughter all the time. The beautiful ‘Miss CoCo’ is the topic of every conversation. Even when she doesn’t fit.”
The light bulb connecting names with stories illuminated Elaine’s mind, “Oh...my God! Chadwick is your son? Sweet little Aaron that ate my burnt meatloaf to be nice when everyone else criticized it? Girl, I owe you a thank you for checking in on my baby the way you do!”
“Owe me? I owe you! Lord knows my boy will eat you out of house and home if you let him. That week in Atlanta must’ve cost you a fortune.”
“Oh, girl, I’ve been raising two athlete daughters while married to a Marine. Trust me, he fit right in.
“So you know the struggle of keeping food in the house. I raised three boys and almost lived at the grocery store.” When the short bout of laughter subsided, Carolyn gave Elaine a small smile. “May I ask you a question? Mother to mother?”
“Absolutely. Unless it’s about Tasha’s manners. She takes after her father.”
Carolyn laughed and shook her head, “She’s been nothing but mannerable around me. My question is about our kids. Be honest with me, is Tasha...interested in my son at all? He thinks the world of her and I don’t want him to be hurt if she doesn’t feel the same way.”
“She is interested, but she’s afraid. If you ask her, he’s not looking to be in a relationship. I think she’s ignoring the signs to protect her heart. Again, she takes after her Daddy.”
“You know I can hear you right, Kitty,” Gerald interjected. “I’m sitting right here.”
The beginning of ‘Pomp and Circumstance’ sounded around the outdoor area, alerting the guests to the arrival of the honorees. Sharing a knowing look, the two women put their conversation on hold to prepare for the arrival of their graduates.
                                             ------------
“Tasha Nicole Green, Magna Cum Laude. Chadwick Aaron Bose-,” last names and accomplishments were drowned out by the combined applause of both families despite the request to wait until all names were called.
“Look at our babies,” Elaine smiled through misty eyes. “They’re growing so fast.”
“Mhmmm. Growin’ and drinkin’ before they have to walk across the stage. I bet all the money in my husband’s wallet that Chadwick doesn’t think I can tell.”
“They never think we know anything. Tasha is wobbling in those shoes like a baby deer and it ain’t because I didn’t teach her how to wear a pair of heels. I’ll let her slide for now, though. It’s a big day and she’s grown.”
In the center of the action, you caught wind of the overwhelming hooping and hollering from the stands, tapping Chadwick on the bicep to pull him away from the moment and direct is attention to the section you were looking at.
“Looks like our mamas found each other without our help,” you laughed, pointing to their spot in the audience and earning a wave from the pair.
“I guess so. Saves us a lot of trouble. What you think they talkin’ about?”
“Probably how cute I look in these shoes. You can’t even tell I’m still a lit-tle bit drunk.”
“CoCo, everyone can tell you’re a little bit drunk. You haven’t walked in a straight line since we’ve been here,” Chadwick scoffed, stepping to the side to let you into the row to take your seat.
“Ah, shut up, hater.” A wobbly step before reaching your chair caught you by surprise and sent Chadwick into a fit of hushed giggles. He was right. You were still noticeably intoxicated despite your best attempts to eat and hydrate your body into sobriety. Turning to your best friend, you pulled your sunglasses down to reveal a horrified expression. “Oh my God, my mama is gonna kill me!”
“Relax. I’ve been drunk in front of my mama too many times to count, and she’s never noticed. Just follow my lead.”
“Last time I followed your lead I drunk four cups of hunch punch to chase the two beers you gave to me.”
“But, did you have a good time?”
You thought for a moment, the memories of the night prior making you smile. “Yeah.”
“Okay, then. Follow my lead. We’re all good.”
                                           -----------
Sitting in your apartment free from the stuffy graduation robe that held you hostage in the late spring sun, you were beginning to realize that things were not “all good.” For the one-hundredth time since your mother and Mrs. Boseman had teamed up to lecture you and Chadwick on the dangers of excessive drinking, you cut your eyes at the man sitting beside you.
“And I know you think we don’t know, but you two aren’t good at hiding anything. We know a lot more than you think we do,” Carolyn ranted with Elaine adding a “mhmm” behind her.
“Right now, you don’t understand, but you will when you’re parenting your own kids and have to deal with them acting a fool in public.”
“Their dad can handle that. I’m gonna be a cool mom,” you mumbled.
“Chadwick, are you ready to handle that since this one will be a cool mom,” Elaine questioned.
“Me!? What do her bad kids have to do with mine?”
“Woah, Woah! My kids will not be bad! Let’s not forget that I’m the one that keeps us out of trouble.”
Carolyn and Elaine watched their offspring argue about potential parenting styles with broad smiles and a twinkle in their eye. Mothers have a way of seeing beyond the current moment, and though neither of you were privy to the knowledge they possessed, their shared intuition confirmed what they already knew.
In the kitchen, Leroy and Gerald were dealing with headaches of their own as they listened to Kevin and Tiana argue over nothing in particular. Tired of the bickering, and the rumbling in their stomach from the thought of eating after the draining ceremony, both men were prepared to put an end to the commotion around them.
“Alright, alright.”
“Hey!”
Talking ceased at their separate outbursts as both men looked at each other with surprised expressions.
“You go first, brother. I wasn’t tryin’ to interrupt you,” Gerald insisted.
“No, no. You go on ahead. This is technically your house.”
Gerald nodded before turning to the group across the apartment. “Now look, we done sat here and listened to y’all lecture these two grown ass people about drinking, and I’m tired of it. I’m ready to eat and I’m ready to eat right now, Kitty.”
“So they’re supposed to be able to do what they wanna do? Is that what you’re saying,” Carolyn asked with Elaine offering her nonverbal support with a glare at her husband.”
“Let the kids have fun. That’s what college is about. We ain’t ate since breakfast. Let it go!”
You and Chadwick shared quiet snickers at the notion that the chastisers were now being chastised. In a way, Mr. Boseman reminded you a lot of your best friend. His stance, laid-back yet oozing authority, made you think of the times he had “put his foot down” in situations where you unnecessarily argumentative. Chadwick’s mind simultaneously took in your mother’s demeanor and smiled at the near-identical posture. Elaine’s knuckles pressed into her sides with all of her weight on one leg took him back to moments when you *thought* you were scolding him for not listening while you spoke to him of leaving his shoes in the middle of the floor.
An intense battle of glares made the air thick between the parenting duos on each side of the argument until the mother’s relented with exasperated scoffs.
“Fine, Leroy! Just let the boy do whatever, I don’t care. We got a reservation to makes anyway.”
Turning on her heels, Elaine took a look at her husband and shook her head, “You spoil her, you know that? I expect you to pay the bill since she can be a drunk in public.”
“Now, Kitty-”
“I don’t wanna hear it. I have your checkbook anyway. It’ll get paid.”
Leaving Gerald stunned and Leroy in a silent fit of laughter, Elaine followed Carolyn out of the door and to the car. Gerald found the presence of mind to figuratively pick his jaw up from the ground before turning to address you and Chadwick.
“Y’all owe me.”
“You owe both of us. It doesn’t stop here. We’ll have to hear it long after y’all are out and getting drunk. Again! C’mon and get in this car before your mama blows the roof off of it.”
                                                ---------
“To the graduates,” Kevin exclaimed as he thrust his red plastic cup into the air to begin his toast. “May your careers be fruitful so you can take me to Cancun on your dime.”
“Kevin!”
“Sorry, mama,” Kevin apologized before shooting a wink your way. “We’ll talk, T.”
A careful tug to his jeans by Carolyn brought Kevin down from his standing position on the picnic table bench and back to his seat.
When your parents told you they had something special planned after your graduation dinner, you weren’t sure what to expect. Your mother hated everything about the outdoors other than her beloved sunflowers in the backyard, so desert at a nearby park was the last thing you thought you would be doing. What you assumed to be a quiet after party with close friends and family turned into a carefully planned scavenger hunt to reveal one of your graduation gifts: a used, all black Jeep Grand Cherokee with heated seats and 10 disk CD changer. Your excitement could barely be contained, though you wondered how the car would factor into the news that you still needed to share.
“Alright, Mr. Cool, it’s your turn to make a toast,” Gerald laughed, directing his comment to Chadwick who was lazily leaning against your shoulder and using his spoon to pick the pecans out of your ice cream like he always did. He knew you hated them and would take the time to make sure they “didn’t go to waste.”
Smoothing out his t-shirt, Chadwick took a moment to stand and raise his cup into the air.
“Uh, I guess I’ll start with a toast to my parents, both biological and adopted. Thanks, mama and daddy for helping me get through this with all the prayers and encouragement.”
“And money. Don’t forget all the money you cost us,” Leroy added.
“Yeah, and money.” The table shared a healthy laugh at Mr. Boseman’s interjection before Chadwick could continue. “Mrs. Elaine and Mr. Gerald, thanks for looking out for me when you could. I really appreciate it and promise to at least send a Christmas card every year, Maybe even stop by if I’m ever in the area.”
“You can’t just DeeBo my parents, Aaron.”
“Oh, hush, Tasha,” your mother answered as she waved off your comment. “Stop by anytime, Chadwick. There’ll always be some biscuits for you if Gerald doesn’t get to ‘em first.”
Your mother had been smitten with Chadwick from the night she met him, so it didn’t surprise you that she had no issue with inviting him over despite being notoriously reluctant to have guest outside of family and a select few friends inside the home.
Chadwick mirrored the way you stuck your tongue out like a child before turning his full attention to you. “Last, but not least, I wanna say thank you to my best friend in the world, even when she’s trying to tell me what to do. Without you staying up all times to help me finish projects or just making sure I had food to eat when I couldn’t always afford it, you’ve been a big part of my journey, and I wouldn’t trade you for anything. Except for some Braves tickets.”
After lightly shoving his side, you let Chadwick pull you into a hug once he took his seat. The heat of the late Spring sun paled in comparison to heat rushing to your cheeks. Your bronze skin prevented the scarlet hues below the surface from peeking through, but not enough to your feelings from the adults around the table. Parents and siblings shared knowing looks across the table, aware of the bubbling feelings between friends.
“Alright, alright, enough hugs, you two,” Gerald announce. “Pumpkin, it’s your turn.”
The group watched you stand and nervously run your sweaty palms down the sides of your summer dress. Chadwick paid special attention to the way your legs seemed to run for miles and thicken in the right places. He needed to remember all of his favorite parts of you to hold him when both of you split up to chase individual dreams. Charlotte, North Carolina was miles away from Harlem, and he wasn’t sure when he’d have the chance to see you again.  Kevin clearing his throat and shooting him a playful glare brought Chadwick back to reality.
“I promise not to be long winded like Reverend C. Boseman over here,” you joked, earning an eye roll from Chadwick. “Thank you, Mommy and Daddy, for everything you’ve done to help me to this point. I love you guys so much. Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Boseman, for being my parents away from home and liking me more than Chadwick.”
“Ma, tell her that’s not true!”
“Hush, boy. Don’t be rude. Continue, CoCo.”
Again, Chadwick rolled his eyes, earning a light giggle from you. “Aaron, even though you get on my last nerve, thank you for always being there when I needed you. I can’t wait to tear up the city with you in a few weeks.”
Chadwick’s eyes widened at your revelation, matching the bewildered expression on your parent’s faces.
“Is Chadwick moving to Charlotte?”
“He sure as hell better not be,” Leroy mumbled as he took a sip from his cup. “His ass is going to Harlem.”
“Leroy!”
“Leroy, hell!”
“Tasha, what are you talking about? Explain yourself.”
Taking a deep breath, you turned your attention to your mother, “I am...no longer taking the internship in Charlotte. I decided to take a paid entry-level position in New Jersey with the Nets. I’ll be 20 minutes away from Manhattan and closer to you.” Your explanation ended with a smile at Chadwick that he gladly returned.
You were two weeks away from packing your car in preparation for a new life in Charlotte. The lease was set to be signed in three days, and your parents had already reached out to family and friends in the area to provided you with a safety net for when they couldn’t be around. The plan was in motion, and up until a week before graduation, you were excited about the new journey. But, when the opportunity came knocking for an immediate opening with an organization in desperate need of new ideas and an entry-level assistant complete with an above average salary and a relocation package, you answered the call. The idea of being closer to the man you were secretly in love with was an added bonus.
Chadwick could no longer contain his excitement as he bolted up from his seat to wrap his arms around you and lift you from the ground.
“Oh my, God, Co! Are you being a jackass or really telling the truth?”
“I’m telling the truth,” you answered while giggling at the way he playfully tickled your sides. “I was gonna tell you this morning, but I figured I’d let everyone know at the same time. I hope you’re not mad mama and daddy.”
Elaine and Gerald stared at each other, occasionally looking across the table at Carolyn and Leroy who were just as confused.
“Well, I ain’t mad,” Tiana exclaimed to break the tension. “Can I come stay with you for Spring Break, T?”
“No!”
“Yes.”
Tiana looked between you and Chadwick for a concrete answer to her question. “Are y’all gonna do me like Mom and Dad? I’ll just stay home if it’s gonna turn into all that.”
“You can’t tell her she can stay at my place, Aaron. Let her stay at yours if you want her to come so bad!”
“Stay at home. Tiana. That nigga is broke already and he ain’t even moved yet,” Kevin answered.
Chadwick opened his mouth to respond before being cut off by your mother.
“Tasha, while I’m excited for you, I’m a little worried. Where will you live? You don’t have any family that far north. How will you adjust on such short notice? Do you even know exactly where you’ll work?”
“We just want you to be safe, Pumpkin.”
“I understand, Daddy, but I have it all figured out! The team has found me housing that I think you guys will approve of, and they’ve committed to five months of relocation. I’ve spoken to my direct supervisor and they’re excited to have me on board. As far as family, I have Chadwick and Kevin. They’re like family, right?”
Silence hung in the air as your parents attempted to process the new information. Reaching over the table, Carolyn gave Elaine’s hand a squeeze.
“We’ll make sure she’s alright. You don’t have to worry.”
“If it’s one thing I taught my boys, it’s how to stick together. They’ll take care of her.”
With reassurance from newfound friends, Elaine and Gerald turned to you with a smile.
“Well, alright! My Pumpkin is moving to the city. I don’t know how we’ll get a damn car that far North, but we’ll figure it out!”
The brief moment of commotion at the table allowed Chadwick to pull you away from the table inconspicuously to walk toward the nearby fountain.
Chadwick stole glances at you along the way, sporting a goofy smile that you didn’t notice until you turned to speak to him.
“What are you smiling about, Ashy?”
“You specifically told me the North was way too cold for you. Six months later, you’re moving to New Jersey. You were gonna miss me too much, huh?”
“What,” you exclaimed, feigning confusion. “I moved to work with my favorite team!”
“You hate the Nets. You called Scott Burrell a fucking bum the other day.”
“I did not!” Chadwick quirked his eyebrow at your blatant lie, waiting for you to come clean. Dropping the act, you let out a short laugh and looked away. “Okay, so, yeah, I would miss you a little bit. A lot, actually. But, this was also a better opportunity! Who knows the places I’ll end up with this type of experience?”
“You’ll go wherever you want, Champ. I’m happy for you.” Chadwick used his fist to nudge your shoulder before taking a seat beside you on the edge of the fountain. Extending his arm, he pointed toward the picnic table to direct your attention to the conversation between both sets of parents. “What you think they’re over there talking about?”
“Knowing my mama, she’s talking your mama’s head off about me and you being together again and all the trouble we might get into.”
“She’d be correct, then.” A sly smile slid across Chadwick’s face, worrying you with what was going on in his overactive mind.
“Oh, no. No. Whatever you’re thinking, the answer is no.”
“C’mon! Give me a second to explain!”
While Chadwick attempted to pull you into one of his plans for a fun outing in New York, conversations of the future transpired between the Boseman and Greene families. In a way, Chadwick was right. They were discussing your futures together, but in a wildly different context.
“So, who do you think will be the one to own up to their feelings first,” Carolyn asked. “My money is on my son.”
“Really? I’m betting on Tasha. I’m surprised she’s gone this long with her feelings hidden. She usually wears her heart on her sleeve.”
“Whoever says it first, just know it’s tradition for the bride’s father to pay for the wedding.”
“Don’t remind me,” Gerald groaned. “Just make sure y’all tell us about every movie Chadwick writes or stars in so we can add to this wedding fund. If they’re both wealthy, we won’t have much to worry about.”
The table erupted in laughter before all four heads turned to look over at the spirited banter between old friends and budding lovers.
Raising his glass, Leroy proposed the last toast of the evening.
“To family. We’re happy to have y’all on board.”
Elaine and Gerald followed suit with raised cups and proud smiles. “To family.”

From fringes to core of #KRPKAB episode 286
There is a lot I have been saying or wanting to say regarding everything that happened since Dev came to Bose house. Episode 286 was the one that inspired me to write a full-fledged meta in the first place. Since I would have to practically write a book if I covered Dev’s entire visit, I’m going to break apart this episode and branch out to past and future episodes where I see fit. It won’t cover everything I want to say, but it will take care of plenty.
Tumblr media
Scene 1: Devakshi confrontation
The episode started with a volatile confrontation between Dev and Sonakshi, which was fairly true to their current characters. The conversation started with Sona’s noteworthy observation that, even though Dev is against Sona speaking ill about his mother, he knew all her words were about Ishwari. We have seen since the beginning of the leap that a part of Dev always knew that the reason Sona left the house was Ishwari, and that Sona was greatly suffering in that home. He has outwardly mentioned it to his mom in an earlier leap episode that Sona’s other option from leaving him was to suffer in Dixit house. However, both still manage to call bluff or sideline each other’s open confessions. Neither Dev nor Sonakshi see any chance of reconciliation or have any hopes that the other will understand their problem. Experience taught Sona that she should not expect Dev to be an understanding significant other, no matter how good he could be as a father or son. Sona leaving with such finality 7 years ago taught Dev that there was no chance she was going to take him back. It’s very easy to see why Sona left the house but more difficult to see why Dev never tried to get her back. Dev was so used to Sona’s unconditional love and understanding, and he took it for granted. This was the first time in Dev’s life that someone hadn’t put the obligation of everyone on him but rather made him her everything. She was a woman who Dev admired for her strength to achieve everything and face all difficulties. That’s why when the moment came that she realized she had tried way too hard and couldn’t take it anymore, Dev couldn’t understand why his wife had reached her maximum. (P.S @moredottedlines, I refrained so hard from inserting my stupid credit card reference here). On the eve of the break up, Dev begged her to forgive and forget, thinking it was the easiest thing to do. What is stuck in his mind is her response that she said she never could, that she threw her mangalsutra in the fire and said we are over. There was such finality in this moment that really attributes to why Dev didn’t go back for her and still blames her for giving up even now.  I’m not saying that he couldn’t have tried. I just see what could have prevented him. We saw a flashback of the night after Sona left where Dev blamed both Ishwari and Sona for the demise of their relationship, and we were left wondering why Sona came into the picture then. The current leap episodes have given some more clarity to that. Fast-forwarding 7 years, we see that Dev is preventing Sona from speaking ill about Ishwari despite agreeing that both women, along with him, were to blame on different levels. Dev’s intention in telling Sona not to speak like that about his mother was not because he doesn’t know it, but because he feels others don’t have a right to say these things about his family. As we saw before with giving Vicky a job, Dev had a hard time accepting this new person into the rest of this blood related family. He loved her immensely, but couldn’t understand in what way her importance should extend to the family. The difference between then and now is Dev actually no longer has such an obligation to Sona, even if he was capable of involving her.
We also saw within this same conversation that Dev sacrificed his own reputation to save Saurabh and Ronita’s marriage, and that he couldn’t believe this wasn’t the same “obvious solution” that Sona had come to. This incident was proof that Dev doesn’t just channel his selflessness towards Ishwari or Dixits but for any loved one- even if it’s Saurabh. This got me thinking that Dev Dixit had the potential to excel in every role had their families been something better. He had no problem or bias in upholding individual relationships or loving Sona, but wasn’t able to maintain the very difficult ties that bound his separate relationships together. Now we see that, while Dev’s main concern is saving Saurabh, Sona’s concern was Dev should have told the truth. Sonakshi was always a strong (headstrong even), independent woman, but only started making a true showcase of this identity when being warm to unappreciative people killed her from within. She was someone who was used to excelling at whatever she tried and would do anything to achieve what she wants- whether it was being a perfect daughter, perfect nutritionist or perfect bahu. It’s important here that Dev pointed out that she’s putting a HUGE emphasis on Dev telling the “truth” without caring about the consequences on her brother. Dev has always been someone who would easily do this for his family, and old Sona would have accepted this too and understood it almost as well as Asha does. But this Sona has been disappointed and lied to so many times that the idea of anyone hiding anything angers her to the core. It doesn’t matter to her if Dev’s intentions were good or if Saurabh’s heart will be broken. She is tired of looking at good intention rather than good outcome. She is tired of seeing relationships being built on lies. It’s not just the pain of the past but also the seven years in between that have made her like this. As Dev likes to put it, she’s the obodro version of Dev Dixit. To Dev, that means someone who is curt, rude, hasty and doesn’t enjoy herself. To me, an obodro Dev is someone who has remaining bitterness from a plethora of struggles but still has the cleanest heart. The fact that Dev keeps using this term in a negative connotation is also an indicator to how he felt about himself before Sona entered his life. We know that Sona has brought Dev’s inner kindness and childishness to the surface. He’s aware that his personality changed for the better with Sona’s presence but can’t imagine why his absence in her life has reversed the process for her. Part of that could be because Sona is the one who said they are over.  It’s hard to sympathize with someone when you think they made a completely conscious decision to take you out of their life. As I said earlier, Dev has started to understand in the last 7 years why Sona was so unhappy with the Dixit family. However, he fails to see why that means she couldn’t work it out with him. He wanted Sona to fight for their marriage, and she wanted him to fight for her. Dev is thinking, “I couldn’t change my family, but you let something like that break us.” Sona is thinking, “You couldn’t change your family and that was a huge thing that broke us.” Both of them have to pass an entirely new journey to learn why neither of those things is as easy as it seems. All these things are what lead Sona to the point of wanting honesty from Dev now even if at the expense of Saurabh’s marriage. This emphasis on brutal honestly is something Sona has passed on to Soha too. Soha has repeated many time that she never lies, and that might actually be one reason why Sona trusts her to be in some right state of mind at any given time.
Tumblr media
Scene 2: Jatin and Sona phone conversation
The idea of being like obodro Dev makes Sona so worked up that she has to call Jatin for confirmation and consolation. It’s not just that Sona would hate to be like Dev but the idea that Dev claims to pity her for it. Dev’s sympathy is exactly what she has been running from for the past 7 years. She has worked years to completely free herself from any need, desire or dependency on Dev Dixit, especially after his challenge that she failed as a wife and more. Coming to the call itself- let me just say this “Ami tomake” entry is far more endearing than “iss duniya main do tarah ke log”! The fact that they can even say that without it being romantic is a true testament to their friendship. In this conversation, we see how both these men have preconceptions about Sona that lead to contrasting, but very one sided, opinions about her. Jatin was there during Sona hardships and is well aware that these are the circumstances that have changed her. Throughout this conversation we notice that Jatin’s entire focus is on how Sona has positively changed through her hardships while Dev’s focus in the prior conversation was the burden of a hard shell and cold heart. Deep down, both men know there was once a completely different Sona that has changed for better AND worse. It’s that, while Dev misses the Sona he fell in love with, Jatin knows what created the Sona that’s changed. Dev told Sona what is true but in a negative connotation that she doesn’t want to hear. Jatin is telling Sona what is ALSO true but only exactly what she wants to hear. Neither showed her the other side of the coin. I agree that Jatin overall understands both Dev and Sona better than they (want to) understand each other. But this conversation, along with many of his other scenes indicate that Jatin’s approach to making Sona see her right path won’t be to make her realize the bad in her but to make her see the good in Dev. Dev unknowingly used this approach by proving himself as a good father. However, he won’t be outwardly doing it until he’s motivated to justify himself. The same goes for Sona.
Tumblr media
Scene 3: Asha and Dev Conversation on Sona, robbery and more.
Dev himself spelled out in this scene what I’ve already said a thousand times. Neither Dev nor Sona are in this family for each other. They have no hopes of sorting their own problems and reconciling. They are doing what they are doing only for Soha. They fight because situations bring them against each other. They fight because no matter how hard they try, they can’t ignore each other’s presence. But for both of them, the idea of staying in this resentment, idea of not forgiving but definitely putting on a façade of forgetting is far easier than the possibility that they will have to suffer from the same disaster again. I see this as a situation of did the chicken before the egg or vice versa? On one hand, they don’t really sort their problems peacefully because they see no purpose or desire. On the other hand you have to wonder how they will ever find the desire to reconcile if they don’t talk things through? The answer is that their daily situations will make this happen. We’re already seeing in Bose house that a large amount of focus is being placed on Dev’s interactions with the other members of the house besides Sona. On the other hand, the conversations between Dev and Sona are remaining fairly unprogressive and immature. While this is a method that takes a lot of patience, it also makes sense that things get sorted in some form or another with the family before Dev and Sona even express desire to figure themselves out. Through Asha, we see the mother that Dev needed to be a better person but never had. While Ishwari picked favorites, Asha remains a mother Switzerland. Asha understands both Sona and Dev and reprimands whoever is needed, wherever it’s needed. While Ishwari wanted Dev to be dependent on her, Asha demands they learn to sort their problems like adults (even if she gives them child-like punishment). Unlike Ishwari and Bijoy, Asha is willing to accept the other half of Devakshi for Soha’s sake if not anything else. My favorite thing about Asha right now is her intolerance for the immaturity. CVs scripting this into the episode show the scenes were written to shape family dynamics more than Devakshi ones. We are supposed to hate how Devakshi handle each other, because it’s forcing Bose family to interact with Dev more than they expected to.
Tumblr media
Scene 4: Bijoy taunts Dev on the robbery
The exact balance to Asha in Bose house is Bijoy. Bijoy irritates Dev repeatedly throughout Dev’s time here, 99% of the time without Dev initiating it. At one point, he made a taunt to Ishwari and Golu for their mere presence and treats Golu rudely later at Saurabh’s haldi for his association with the Dixits. Despite very stark differences between Bijoy and Ishwari, Bijoy is serving a similar taste of medicine to Dev that Sona had to suffer with Ishwari. Dev is never able to satisfy or appease Bijoy the way Sona could never satisfy Ishwari. Bijoy provokes Dev not just if he has done something at that time but for whom he is to Sona. Ishwari did the same to Sona. Sona didn’t say anything to Ishwari, because she thought she could win the whole family over if she tried hard enough. She felt an obligation to succeed at any cost- not just because she was married to Dev but also because Sonakshi Bose Dixit never fails -even if it’s at the expense of her self-respect. Dev, on the other hand, does not hold back when it comes to Bijoy. That’s not because he’s a worse person than Sona but because he knows no level of “trying hard enough” is going to win Bijoy at this point in their relationship. There is nothing advantageous here about losing self-respect, especially after you’ve already been tolerating it for several days. He claims that he just needs to survive these few days with Bijoy for Soha’s sake. This dynamic was another one, just like Dev and Sona’s that was slathered in immaturity and making no positive progress. However, the drunken confrontation between the two men in the later episode changed that. It was such a scene that seemed anticlimactic, as both men decided reconciliation was hopeless and that it’s best to fake it. However, just the fact that Bijoy was able to discuss the true roots of his hatred was a huge step forward from his behavior and a big eye opener to Dev for his. The tears in Dev’s eyes during Bijoy’s confession showed not only Dev’s inner guilt for what he had done to the Bose family but a newfound empathy with Bijoy’s pain. There is a clear regret in Dev’s face that comes, not from hurting Sona, but from making a father ache like this for his daughter. Unfortunately, and realistically, this moment isn’t enough to make all well between Bijoy and Dev. Dev outwardly expresses what we suspected from his behavior all along; he doesn’t think Bijoy can move on. Bijoy in no time agrees, and Dev is left saying, if for no other reason, forgive and forget because it’s been 7 years. If Dev had any intention of making amends with Sona, he would not use “time” as a reason to move forward. But he doesn’t, and neither does she.
Tumblr media
Scene 5: Ishwari’s Nightmare
Ishwari says at the end of the nightmare, “Aakhir jis baat ka darr tha, wohi hua na Dev?” Even in her subconscious, Ishwari indirectly blames Sona for the fact that Soha wanted to move to a separate house. Ishwari still feels Dev will prioritize Sona. Sona thinks Dev will prioritize Ishwari. In reality, Dev is trying to prioritize no one but Soha. @archanasean brought up a good point once that, does this nightmare indicate that Ishwari won’t even spare Soha from her insecurities? That’s the trigger that made me realize that even in this nightmare, the actual blame is indirectly being placed on Sona still. We already know that Ishwari is super determined to undo everything Sona has made Soha. As a grandmother with a history of raising dependent children, she doesn’t see the appeal in a child who has full-fledged independence. For any vice she finds in Soha, it’s going to somehow go to Sona. Which is why I’m hoping for a future event in which Ish can’t even deny Sona’s upbringing did some good.

Scene 6: Golu and Sona discussing Devakshi and their friends
Golu has been taught everything is Sona’s fault. Soha has been taught everything is Dev’s. Bijoy and Ishwari’s bias for their children was emphasized through Golu and Soha. Both parents wear blinders when it comes to their children. The main difference between Bijoy and Ishwari is that Bijoy has other sensible family members to help him find the balance and stop him when he is going too far. Plus, Bijoy has insecurity but not possessiveness. He fears Dev’s involvement in Sona and Soha’s life and fails to have a global perspective because of this reverence of his daughter and lack of knowledge on who Dev really is. We know of Bijoy’s bias towards Sona since day one, which was once jokingly reflected as Sona vs. Saurabh. His inability to understand Dev comes from never living with him and having several misunderstandings to worsen the situation. Ishwari, who was was unable to trust Sona despite living with her and being her patient, can’t say the same. Ishwari has both insecurity and possessiveness. The part Ishwari won’t admit is that she thinks Dev’s priorities will again change from his family to Sona. She feels she’s worthless if she’s not everything Dev needs. Without a husband, without a job, without any sort of independence, she is nothing if she’s not Dev ki maa. Yet it’s also true that part of Ishwari’s paranoia is from genuine concern that Sona will re-enter Dev’s life and leave him to shatter all over again. This is why she consistently brings up Elena as the sister who didn’t give up on them and is so taken aback and excited to see Dev even slightly happy again. Sona’s story about the person she was forced to be friends with was a great parallel to Devakshi. It showed that, deep down, Soha understood that fixing relationships is a long and gradual process and can’t be forced. She brought up how her teacher forcing her to fix her friendship with that girl ended up breaking them in less than 24 hours. Soha understands that forcing into geographic proximity doesn’t fix everything. In fact, the close space might make it worse. Soha’s stubbornness (may I say inherited from her parents) was never supposed to work. It was supposed to be a stupid decision that Devakshi impulsively listened to as the “single mother” and the “new parent” so that all these other relationship dynamics discussed earlier take place. Too bad this friendship story didn’t hit Soha earlier in the excitement of having her new father! I’m glad Devakshi stopped catering to such zidd and Soha herself is starting to show immense maturity again.

Scene 7: Ishwari vs. Sona
There is a genuine side of Ishwari that is against Sona coming back from fear that she will leave and make Dev become something he isn’t. This is the aspect of Ishwari that is relatable to any parent. We see the same happen with Ronita’s mom, who I find to be something in between Ishwari and Bijoy. Similar to Bijoy, Ronita’s mom is insecure about how her daughter will be treated in the new family. Similar to Ishwari, her insecurity is not just based on a general worry of her daughter living with strangers but also on one specific threat to power: Sonakshi. There is a genuine side of Ishwari then there is the side that makes her tell Sona in this scene that Dev still “worships her”. It’s not even true, but who cares as long as Sonakshi thinks mama is in charge (and maybe she’s still trying to convince herself it’s true?). This was a good parallel to show that insecurity can occur without deep pasts and unique bonds – those are just components that made Dev and Ishwari’s situation go to an extreme. Ishwari never came out of her extremity, and Dev, despite knowing it existed, couldn’t figure out how to permanently fix it. Dev couldn’t explain his complex mother-son relationship to Sona when she was begging for it, and he said it was too difficult to explain so quickly. That is understandable. Problem is he barely even tried to give it in small doses later on, and she was never able to understand because of this. That’s why up to the end of their marriage, Sona claimed balancing wife and mom isn’t that hard if you try, and Dev kept insisting that’s not the case. It’s not just Sona couldn’t understand him but that he never gave her the full opportunity to do so. This is one of several situations where one thinks he/she had the much easier solution over the other. No doubt, different situations are more in favor of Dev or in favor of Sona. It’s part of their journey to make almost every part of their life consistently easier for both.

Scene 8: The mess before Asha the savior
What Dev said about Ishwari offering to let them stay in separate homes is not only important but brilliantly timed with Ishwari’s nightmare about Dev and Sona living seperately with Soha. We know Ishwari was not suggesting this from the heart, and Dev in saying this now is him holding on to the fact that Ishwari asked despite knowing he might say yes. I’ve said in the past too that Ish has a way of saying the most accurate things with the worst intentions. This was one of those moments. She had a fair point that moving away could have helped Devakshi’s marriage. However, she’s also raised Dev with ideals and family mentality to NEVER do that. I don’t see this scene as Dev thought changing houses would have fixed all their problems. I see it that Dev thought their relationship could have been saved by some circumstance- any circumstance- had both sides of the family been respectively supportive. Dev was right saying that marriage was between two families and that the parents actually broke down their kids’ moral through their behavior rather than building it. Of course Ishwari is no Asha, and her offer to let them live apart is nothing compared to the issues she created in the first place. But it means more than anything to Dev that Ishwari offered something even resembling a saving grace while Bijoy encouraged Sona to not give Dev another chance. Dev isn’t denying that they had many problems with difficult solutions. He’s focusing in on the question of...but who gave them a second chance? Who encouraged them to work it out when they needed it the most? Bijoy has given Dev several chances- but as a FIL, but those were chances to fix his and Bijoy’s relationship. Right now, he’s only thinking of who was throwing him a life vest when his most important bond was in jeopardy. What Dev fails to understand is that Sona had reached a breaking point in their relationship where no one, not even her father, could have convinced her to try further (rightfully so).
Dev and Sona were being big babies in this fight. Sona pulling her “my house and single mom” card again, Dev pulling his powerful man card all had to come to a quick halt. This fight brought out a lot about Devakshi but also their perception of their parents. Sona, despite having no idea what Bijoy actually said to Dev, jumped on Dev from the bit she heard. This was just like she did the first time he yelled at Bijoy for Ishwari and Golu. Once again, Sona’s resentment and jumping to conclusions comes from a place of the past. Dev is guilty of the same. They can be peaceful in the moment for Soha, for Saurabh’s wedding, for society – but until they realize where they or their own parents are wrong, this pattern will persist.

Kuch Rang Pyar Ke - Episode 280-284 (27th March - 31st March, 2017)
This week's episodes started off with Dev's dynamic entry into the Bose house. As we could clearly see, Bijoy was not pleased with Dev and Sonakshi's new staying arrangements. But what Bijoy had to say did not bother Dev at all. He had clearly mentioned that he's there just for Soha, so he didn't really care as to what the others thought of his decision. Soha's face lit up when she came to know that her Dad is going to be staying with her, which shows that Soha wants this staying arrangement to work out as much as her parents want it to.
Dev asking Jatin to leave the room was very expected of him. No matter how platonic Sonakshi and Jatin's relationship is, even the mere idea of another man in Sonakshi's life gives Dev an unsettling feeling. But Jatin's response to Dev was true. Dev was not a family member to the Boses anymore; he was there only for Soha. At that point, Jatin was more family than Dev was. After Jatin told Dev that he's not going anywhere, Dev had to reassure himself that he's here for Soha, and not to win over Sonakshi.
Sonakshi promised her father that nothing will happen between her and Dev. This is another point which makes me feel like Sonakshi will be the one to initiate the reconciliation. She's very unnecessarily reassuring everyone around her that there's nothing brewing between her and Dev. While I know that both, Dev and Sonakshi have an excruciatingly long way to go before a reconciliation can even be thought about by either of them, these small hints are making me incline towards Sonakshi taking the step towards wanting to get back together with Dev. Dev has mentioned several times that his focus is only on Soha, and no one else. That shows that he's pretty much given up hope on him and Sonakshi being together again. Also, I love how Sonakshi seemed disappointed when Dev said that he's there just for Soha and doesn't care about anyone else, and when Dev calls Asha his favorite Bose girl. Sonakshi says she's unaffected by Dev, yet we can see her feeling slightly upset every time he prioritizes anyone over her.
Ishwari is someone who has stayed true to her character from the very first episode. She was insecure about losing Dev to a girl back then, and is still insecure about losing Dev to Sonakshi now. Well, I thought it was only Sonakshi, but now Ishwari seems to be having a problem with the amount of importance and attention Soha is getting from Dev. I cannot believe Ishwari wanted to take food for Dev to the Bose house the very first day itself, saying that he's only used to eating food made by her. Is she forgetting how that in the past seven years, Dev wouldn't even come home for days, or that he's pretty much indifferent to how food tastes anymore? And the fact that Golu had to explain to Ishwari about how she should let Dev spend time with Soha alone baffled me. Little Golu is only six years old, and he spelt it out for Ishwari about how  it is important for both, Soha and Dev, to spend quality time with each other.
While i find it very irrational that Sonakshi and Dev are giving in to all of Soha's demands, part of me also believes that this is just for the time-being. By accepting all of Soha's demands, Dev is just trying to make up for lost time. By giving Soha everything she wants, Dev thinks that he'll be able to compensate for all the moments he's missed with her. Part of me even feels like he doesn't want her to have any problem in her childhood. He knows the value of being a child, and wants Soha to experience everything he did not. I feel like Sonakshi is giving in to everything Soha wants because Dev is giving in to it. Sonakshi is softening up to Dev, so she doesn't want him to feel like he can miss out on anything with Soha. It's definitely bad parenting, but it won't last for long.
Dev and Soha talking in the room was a scene which showed how in such little time, they had bonded with each other so well. We could see how much of a good change they brought about in each other. I loved how Soha told her father that he was way better than she had ever imagined him to be. Dev was ready to relive his childhood with Soha. When Sonakshi and Dev started dating each other, a part of me believed that their relationship was an emphasis on how Dev will be reliving his childhood with Sonakshi. For a while, we did see how he'd become a child around her, but this time it was different. This time, Dev was going to be a child again with his daughter.
What I loved most about Dev and Soha's conversation was how he explained Bijoy's anger towards him to Soha. No blame games, no jokes, just straight talk, which is what was needed. "Maine aapki Mamma ko saat saal pehle bahot pareshaan kiya tha, hurt kiya tha. Isi liye aapke Dadu mujhse itna rude hain." He's accepted that he is to be blamed for the separation too. He's accepted the fact that there's no going back to the way things were. At this point, Dev just plays the bad boy that's expected of him by Bijoy. He's not interested in justifying his behavior in any way to anyone. Dev's only focus and priority is Soha.
Sonakshi is all smiles every time Dev is alone with Soha. She can see how much Soha enjoys being with her Dad. The fact that she tells the guests, "Soha apne Papa ke saath hogi" and looks so happy to see him walk Soha down the stairs makes me immensely happy.
"Main nahi hoti, tho aap log kahaan hote?"  True that, Soha. They would be two very lonely people without you. Dev, Soha and Sonakshi looked like a happy family, all cuddled up on one bed. When Dev started telling his story, it was hard to say who the six year old was, Soha or Sonakshi. Sonakshi was making the exact same expressions as Soha was while listening to Dev's story. Even when Dev praised Sonakshi's parenting skills by telling the sangeet guests that she raised their daughter to be independent. Small things like this between Dev and Sonakshi make my heart flutter with joy.
No matter what Dev says or behaves like, he's always going to be the softie he always was. When he looks over at Sonakshi after seeing that Soha's fallen asleep, or when he changes the AC temperature to 26 because that's what Sonakshi wanted, or even how he goes and sleeps on the couch because Sonakshi was hesitant to sleep with him on the same bed. All these things make Dev the nicest person out there, they make him the Dev that Sonakshi had fallen in love with.
I loved how there was no fuss made over the fact that Bijoy had non-veg food made at home. To be honest, every Indian house should have dal and rice. It wasn't a big deal to Dev, and I'm glad the writers didn't get Ishwari involved in all this, and kept it as a comic relief in the episode. It kind of annoyed me at first that Sonakshi was laughing when Bijoy asked Dev to go out and eat, but then when Dev didn't care about it, who am I to say anything.
I agree that Ishwari shoudn't have come to the Bose house without informing Dev, but Bijoy shouldn't have insulted her for that. Not just her, Bijoy even insulted Golu, which was very unnecessary. Ishwari wasn't there to make conversation with the Boses, she was there to see Soha and Dev. While Ishwari was sitting there quietly, she didn't deserve to be insulted by Bijoy. Dev was angry at Bijoy's comment, and he had all the right to be. But Dev had no right to implicate a slap like gesture towards Bijoy. He apologized to Bijoy for his mom coming uninvited to their house, but for a second, it definitely looked like he was ready to physically show his anger. I really wish this wasn't shown because a 'slap' is a very sensitive issue in this show, and it shouldn't be shown if there's no need for it.
I can't believe the fact that Ishwari didn't want Elena to go for her brother's wedding. Ishwari has repeatedly blamed Sonakshi for keeping Soha away from the Dixits, and here we have Ishwari who is keeping Elena away from her family. It amuses me as to how Ishwari can be so inconsiderate.
I really want Elena to be a part of Sonakshi's life now. I loved the conversations between Elena and Sonakshi ever since Sonakshi started developing feelings for Dev. Elena has seen everything that Sonakshi went through pre-leap. Elena needs to know of her sister's troubled times in the past seven years. I'm really hoping we get to see Sonakshi-Elena scenes, just like we did in the initial days of the series. Who knows, their conversations may lead to the truth coming out.
Asha and Dev's conversation showed that he's very comfortable in her presence. They both apologized for whatever happened earlier that day. I wish Dev didn't said 'Mr. Bose' after saying 'Baba.' I feel, Dev still considers them family, but will never accept it to anyone. When Dev asks Asha, "How do you tolerate him?" I don't think he meant anything bad by it. It was a legit question that we all had, how does Asha tolerate Bijoy? But here's the thing, Dev knows that Bijoy is the way he is because he's protective of Sonakshi, so I think it was a heat-of-the-moment comment that Dev made. As soon as he said it, he realized he shouldn't have, and apologized to Asha. Asha, being the calm person she is, did not have any reaction to it. I feel like she brushed it aside, not finding it important enough to forgive him, or even acknowledge the fact that he said it.
The conversation between Asha and Sonakshi seemed so real. It seemed so real because my mom has had that exact same conversation with my sister and me. The way we see our fathers, that's not how our mothers see them. My mom has repeatedly told my sister and me that our dad is a great husband to her, but he wasn't like this the initial days of their marriage. Well, what my mom was trying to tell us was that no one becomes a great husband or wife the second they get married. It's a process of constant trust, support, compromises and love that makes you a good husband or wife. That's what Asha told Sonakshi. Sonakshi is no one to judge whether Bijoy is a good husband, and Asha is no one to judge Dev as a husband.
"Tum mere Baba pe ungli kaise utha sakte ho? Tum toh ek achche husband bann hi nahi paaye" Sonakshi's anger towards Dev was understandable because she was looking at this situation from her perception. According to her, Dev failed at his duties of being a good husband. She wanted him to be like how her Baba is to her Maa. But Asha explained to Sonakshi that everyone's perception towards people is different. Sonakshi can comment on how good of a Baba Bijoy is, but she cannot comment on how good of a husband he is to Asha.
That's the thing about Asha, she doesn't believe in blame games, she doesn't believe in saying that she's always right and the other is wrong, she doesn't believe in playing the 'bechari' part. She told Sonakshi that it wasn't just her who had to make adjustments to her new lifestyle after marriage, Bijoy also adjusted to Asha's likes and dislikes. "Mere mein bhi khaamiyaan rahi hongi aur tere Baba ne bhi kayi sare adjustments kiye honge…kyunki humare liye iss rishtey se badhkar kuch bhi nahi tha. Hum dono ne iss rishtey ko nibhane ki koshish ki aur nibhaya bhi." She told Sonakshi that what Dev said to Asha shouldn't impact what Sonakshi thinks of him. Dev's there just for Soha, and Asha even told Sonakshi what a great father Dev is.
Giving up on a relationship is the easiest thing to do, but maintaining a relationship is one of the hardest things to do. My mother has said this to my sister and me several times; understanding, trust, and patience between a husband and wife is very important to keep the relationship going. Dev knows how to manage relationships, but give him more than one relationship at a time, and he doesn't know what to do. Right now, the only relationship that matters to him is the one he has with his daughter. Everyone and everything else is irrelevant to him. Sonakshi needs to understand that she needs to manage her relationship with Dev as Soha's father, and not as her ex-husband.
Dev's open confession of love was the highlight of the week. I found my cold-hearted self smiling and actually blushing. When Dev and Sonakshi were dating, she would always tell him how cheesy his talks were. But this speech was exactly like how Sonakshi would've liked it; cheesy enough to make her feel something. "Apni poori life mein maine sirf ek hi ladki se pyar kiya aur itna kiya ki shayad ye poori zindagi kam pad jaye lekin mera pyar kam nahi hoga. Woh mere liye kya hai, shaayad main lafzon mein bayaan bhi nahi kar sakta kyunki main usey mehsoos kar sakta hoon."We all know he meant it for Sonakshi. The way he walked towards her and the way they both were looking into each other's eyes was beautiful.
Finally, Jatin's role is being put to good use. After Asha, he's the most sensible one on the show. "Ab mujhe pataa chalaa ke tujhe iss aadmi se itni mohabbat kyun ho gayi thi…Ekdum gussewala, paagal, super obodhro hai, lekin iska dil ekdum saaf hai. His heart is in the right place, Sona." Yup, Jatin is going to be the one to make Sonakshi (and hopefully Dev) a lot of things about their relationship.
I think the Bose house was first chosen to stay in because the writers wanted to show us that no matter what happened, Dev will not feel like an outsider in Sonakshi's house. Bijoy may not welcome him with a garland, but he has accepted Sonakshi's decision to let Dev stay at the Bose house. This will not be the same in the Dixit house. Sonakshi will still feel uncomfortable there, and she will still feel like an outsider. The question here is, will Dev be firm with his family and tell them to accept that fact that Sonakshi is going to be staying in their house, no matter what.
Something that we got to see this week was a subtle bond between Dev and Saurabh, especially when Saurabh calls Dev 'Jiju.' It was kind of weird, because Saurabh had never called him Jiju before. Hopefully this growing bond is of some importance in the future.
My favorite part about the dhoti tying scene was how Sonakshi brought up their dating days by mentioning the gajra Dev bought and tied for her. Before Sonakshi mentioned the gajra, Dev was in a mood to annoy Sonakshi. But as soon as she did, Dev calmed down and pretty much surrendered to Sonakshi. In that moment, I think Dev realized that Sonakshi is also hanging on to the lovable memories from their past.
The fact that there's always a comical background music playing whenever we see Dev and Bijoy interacting with each other shows that Bijoy will soon soften up on Dev. Bijoy even calls Dev 'Jamai Raja' a few times on the sangeet day. The real and major problem will arise when Sonakshi comes to the Dixit house and interacts with Ishwari. I'm sure we will see Bijoy being fully supportive of Dev and Sonakshi's decisions in the near future.
And finally, here’s a tweet that made me really think about what Dev would do if he had a son instead of a daughter!

Chapter One: Bella
“No one knew what was coming their way.”
Isabella looked at her computer with such disappointment, that’s, the best you could come up with, really? Isabella, or Bella, was a great writer but for some reason she was struggling to write this paper - she was writing so many different papers and this one was literally the worst. “Oh my gosh!! WHY IS THIS EVEN AN ASSIGNMENT,” Bella screamed to no one, “it’s literally the worst topic ever.”
Bella looked at the one line typed on her MacBook Pro and sighed. If she didn’t love writing so much she would have stopped writing papers for other people a long time ago; she didn’t do it for the money she did it because she loved writing. No one knew that she was writing for other people not even her best friends Monica and Heaven and that’s how she wanted to keep it.
Bella got up from her desk and looked around her room. Her room screamed, I was fourteen when I chose all of this, and she hated every bit of it. Her stomach turned every time she looked at her puke green walls, her room had such potential but for now it was horrible. Who would’ve thought three laters Isabella would start to hate everything about her room - well, not everything, she loved her desk, her computer, and her beautiful southern-style canopy bed. She looked around her room until her eyes locked with her laptop screen. “Shit. I have to finish this,” and she sat down and started spewing out some lines determined to get the paper finished. An hour later she was finally finished and was ready to enjoy her weekend.
Bella lived in one of those mc-mansions everyone wished they had. For someone who lived like a celebrity, she was very humble. Her house laid on a huge plot of land, three stories high and the backyard looked like it was straight out of a magazine. Bella walked down her grand stairs and went to the kitchen where her dad, Tennessee, was playing with their Australian Cattle dog, Bo. “Sweetheart, I thought you were out with ya girlfriends! It’s not good to be cooped up in that room of yours.” Tennessee’s voice boomed through the room; he had the best Texan accent and reminded everyone of Mr. Incredible. Bella got attacked by Bo who apparently didn’t know she was home either, “who’s a good boy, yes Bo it’s you it’s you.” Bo was a dog model/actor and had the best and cutest smile. “C’mere Bo,” Tennessee called out, and Bo obediently ran to his master. Bella started towards the fridge and finally responded to her dad, “yeah it’s definitely not good to be cooped up in that mucus-green stained room of mine. I thought I was going crazy up there, Daddy!” Tennessee laughed at his daughters response, whenever he mentions her room she hints to a renovation. Bella made a face at her father, part serious but mostly joking. Bella loved her dad and he loved her even more. Not that parents actually say it but Bella was Tennessee’s favorite and it showed. Bella has four other siblings, two older and two younger and she was the middle child. Bella sat at the island and ate a fruit cup and her dad continued to play with Bo. I guess I should text the girls and see what’s up with them, she thought.
Bella loved her friends. She had a great group of people in her life, but her best friends were everything to her. Monica, Heaven, and Bella did everything together and it’s all thanks to their families. Tennessee and Haiden, Bella’s mom, went to college with Heaven and Monica’s parents. They all went to Alabama, the guys all played football and the ladies were in the same sorority, the parent’s relationship are the ultimate #couplesgoal. Bella pulled up her group chat with Heaven and Monica and started to type. “Lemme see what these bitches are up to,” she thought aloud. “Bella!” She looked at her dad, she had completely forgotten that he was in the room. Her face turned red, “sorry Daddy!” He laughed and retreated to his den.
Bella: hey y’all *kissy-face emoji*
Bella thought about those papers she had written. Bleh, I hate doing this but at the same time I don’t. Bella’s phone vibrated and made a *ding* noise, her girls had hit her up.
Monica: hey betchhhh we’re coming to pick ya up be there in 10
Bella smiled, she was ready to see her girls. She threw out her fruit cup and ran upstairs to gussy up before she hit the town. She knew 10 minutes really meant 30 minutes with Monica because that girl was never on-time. Bella brushed her teeth, put some eyeliner on and curled her lashes and then put on her favorite lip gloss. Bella was naturally beautiful, the girl could wear a potato sack and she would still look good. Since it was the end of April it was still a little chilly in Lubbock. Bella threw on a pair of ripped jeans, a plain white crew neck top, and her chestnut Uggs. Bella normally had curly hair but she recently had it done; her locks were slick, long, and dark. She looked at herself and smiled, then quickly frowned. She forgot her most cherished possession, her grandfathers cross. She ran to her vanity and placed the necklace on its rightful place.
*BEEP BEEP BEEP*
Bella grabbed her gigantic Louis Vuitton purse, ran down the stairs and called out to her dad, “bye, Daddy, love you see you later!” “Wait, wait,” Tennessee’s deep voice echoed from his den, “now wait a minute here,” his hand reaching for his wallet. “Take that and have some fun baby girl.”Her dad always gave her some money whenever she left the house, she really didn’t have to work a day in her life, things were always good for her, well some things but that was another story.
Bella came outside and screamed. “OH MY GODDDD!!” Monica and Heaven were in a white Jeep Wrangler with the roof and doors off; Heaven finally got her new car. The three girls screamed in excitement. Heaven had been waiting for this car for months, her parents didn’t seem like they were going to buy it for her. The girls had been driving Monica’s older sister’s, Brittany, old Prius, needless to say they were happy to be out of that deathtrap. Tennessee and Bo came outside to see what all of the excitement was about, and let out a big, happy yee-haw when he saw the Jeep. “’Ol Jethro got ya that Jeep! Well look at that y’all are riding in style.”Bella jumped into the car and Tennessee walked over to the drivers side. He threw a couple of coins on the floor of the Jeep and gave Heaven $50 for gas. “Y’all behave now and have fun!” The girls started to loop around the Abraham’s massive driveway and waived goodbye to Tennessee and Bo. SZA’s ‘Normal Girl’ blasted from the Jeep’s Bose speakers and the girls sang like they were SZA.
When these girls linked up, it was the best vibes. The old saying, two’s company three’s a crowd didn’t apply to them. They weren’t only best friends they were sisters. The bond their parents have carried through Bella, Heaven and Monica. Over the music Monica set their agenda, she always had a plan and it was always good. “Okay ladies,” Monica’s best attempt to sound like Beyonce, “now lets get in formaaation. Nails first because these things right here,” she put up her hand to show her still acceptable manicure, “are not hittin’.” They all laughed, to know Monica is to know how much she loves her hands and nails - she swears she could be a hand model one day. Monica continued, “and then I figured either food or dessert, or both,” a huge smile came across all of their faces, they loved dessert. “Oh! and I invited Toby and some of the guys.” Heaven whooped out in excitement, “LIT!” Migos’ ‘Bad and Boujee’ came on and the three sang in unison.
After their nails the girls went to their favorite hibachi restaurant where they met up with Toby, Kingston, Raider, Jimmy, and Logan. Toby and Monica were the type of couple that didn’t label themselves (yawn), Raider was Monica’s twin brother, and the other guys were just some of the other guys. Raider gave Bella and Heaven a hug and him and Monica did their weird twin greeting they always did. Toby and Monica shared a little peck, they weren’t into PDA (unless they’re drunk) and the group appreciated it. The stood outside while they waited to be seated, and boyyy were they ready to eat.

I Hate You Like I Love You

Scene 1. Sona vs. Khatri
Scene 1. Sona vs. Khatri
Why does Sona take Jatin’s help? Who does Sona have to help Ishwari? To answer the first question, Sona had walked out of the Dixit house in search of the man who was standing outside. She suddenly ran into Jatin, who asked her what was going on and why she looked so panic-stricken. This is how Jatin very fluidly became involved in this before Sona knew how serious it even was. Jatin is her best friend and the one person she can count on to have complete faith in her and her desire to help the Dixit family. This was something not even Saurabh was on board with as he was considering his sister’s safety over her concern. Sona cannot take on such an important situation alone, not only due the complexity of the situation, but the danger. Now coming to why Sona helped Ishwari. Sona has a remaining emotional connection with the family that she can’t escape. Love and hate are easy emotions to surface, but indifference is much more difficult. You only feel for the people who have affected you in any way- whether it’s a positive or negative emotion. Becoming unaffected is usually next to impossible, and leaving someone’s life doesn’t mean leaving their heart and mind. Moreover, the desire for acceptance and the motivation to protect her loved ones has always been a huge part of Sona’s personality. If that wasn’t and inherent part of her, she may have given up on the Dixit family long before she did. Sona knew what Ishwari was like before she even married Dev but thought she would be accepted if she tried hard enough. It wasn’t until infertility and countless impossible challenges (which often resulted in temporary solutions) that Sona was able to realize she could never genuinely satisfy Ishwari. However, by that time, her emotional connection with the family had already strengthened. More than hating them, she is disappointed in them. Her problem with Ishwari even today isn’t the woman herself but the fact that Dev was unable to balance the two, and Ishwari did nothing to help the situation. Sona got married to the man, but stayed married to the family. Once she got married, she was never able to treat them as two different entities. That’s why even in today’s scene, Sona emphasized to Khatri that he couldn’t hurt “MY FAMILY”. Not just Ishwari. Not just the father of her child. Her family. Relationships are complicated, and have to be treated as such. Pure hate and pure love are both very rare feelings. There are very similar motivations between why Dev took on the blame for the robbery and Sona is taking on the tensions of this mystery that have nothing to do with Sona indirectly paying Dev back. You can’t understand one and not the other.
Just to recap, here is what I’ve gotten from Khatri’s mysterious case so far...
Dev knows his mom used to carry a blunt knife around as protection from some man- a knife what wasn’t actually dangerous (meaning she meant no physical harm), but was enough to scare someone. This holds a bit contradictory to Khatri implying she devastated an entire home in the street that she WORKED on (not lived). We also learned that Khatri’s referred incident happened 20 years ago, much later than the flashbacks of 8-year-old Dev that we have gotten to see. It’s possible that age 8 is turning point of Dixits’ lives for the worse and 20 years ago something happened for the better. Which, according to Khatri is related to Dev’s rise to financial power happening in some corrupt fashion. Up to now, we have seen Dev pride his success on his hard work and more importantly, his mother. There is no contest that Ishwari was a strong mother, but he made Dev her dependency after making him her strength. Ishwari credits Dev on all his sacrifices for the family, but never fails to remind him he’s never freed. It will be interesting to see if and how all or any of those conceptions fall apart. This may partially be why Sona’s initial reaction to Khatri’s news was so paradoxical. Sona gave a defiant “she would never do that” but also looked extremely terrified. On one hand, she can’t accept that all the things she believed about the Dixit house- their hard work, their success, their morals would be a lie. On the other hand, she knows to what extent Ishwari can go as a mother. Add in Khatri’s relentless efforts towards Ishwari’s destruction and his question of how someone can rise to so much power, and you have a recipe for subconscious suspicion and fear.

Bose Family
We see that the two Bose couples had very similar actions and reactions throughout this episode-from coming to the same hotel, ordering the same food at the same time, to mild flirting and being sorely disappointed by their experience overall. While Bose family scenes lent to some comic and romantic relief in the midst of Devakshi’s angst, they also depicted the marriage situation that Devakshi could only dream of. Asha/Bijoy are their own kind of couple goals, and they are indirectly influencing Saurabh and Ronita. Behind Bijoy’s anger is a desire to provide his loved ones with the best life. Behind Bijoy is a balanced woman who knows how to calm him down and make him see reason. Saurabh had the same level of anxiety and anger today due to desperation to give Ronita the best. Ronita on the other hand, was level headed and calmed him down with the most sincere coaxing and compliments. Bijoy and Asha is a couple that taught us so much, including that love isn't everything in a marriage, but neither is compromise. Asha tolerates Bijoy’s anger in exchange for his love. Bijoy despite presenting his anger never fails to shower her with love. This was the dynamic we saw between Asha/Bijoy and Saurabh/Ronita today. Devakshi failed in many ways, but due to lack of balance than lack of love. They repeatedly forgave and forgot for the sake of their love, but the compromise part of their relationship ended when the circumstances made it a near impossibility. As opposed to Sonita, they faced a mother who only tolerated a short honeymoon when her selfish reasons were at play. Here two parents who would give up even their dinner plate for their son’s perfect experience. Ishwari called Devakshi repeatedly in Shimla to make sure the trip was more functional than leisurely. Bose parents were honestly mistaken in following the couple to their honeymoon. These very literal differences symbolize how even Devakshi’s attempts at rekindling their doomed love were hindered by external efforts. The most poignant contrast of all was seeing Ronita and Asha say the same thing to their hubbies after their hubbies did the same thing at the same time. Sonita are getting a mentor and mirror that Devakshi never had. Ronita got a mom in law that exemplified all the dreams Sona had for her and Ishwari.

“Tum Papa se itna pyaar karte ho?”
We saw Dev come home feeling extremely dejected about the possibility of Sona and Jatin being together. We saw Elena try to be his source of solace as someone who has insight into both the Sona and Dev side of matters. However, Dev was only able to walk around the rim of his actual problems by saying "Chupate woh hain jhino ne kuch galat kiya ho" and implying Soha and Jatin together was distastefully wrong. However, the person Dev needed the most , as always, was his best friend- his Sona. No amount of Elena’s coaxing, patience and understanding could get him to open like Sona used to. But Sona was the one person he couldn’t talk to at the time. This is why Dev’s first meeting with daughter after so long was so well timed. He found the exact temporary solace in Soha that he was looking for, especially when she indirectly assured him of how much she loves him. Her positive outlook on the chicken pox situation was the exact kind of positivity and love Dev needed in that instant, and we saw that radiating on his face. His smile was a tell tale of his happiness, his choked voice was a sign of surprise, and the tears in his eyes were his gratitude that someone will always be there to love him unconditionally. BUT Sona’s presence broke him out of that reverie in no time. When Sona came in, his happiness became less genuine and became more about him holding to together for Soha. By the time Soha, left, this entire euphoric feeling had vanished. The fact that not even Soha could keep him at peace was solid proof that Dev couldn’t even PRETEND his problem was Sona leaving a sick Soha alone to see Jatin. The excuse of “I’m here for Soha, I care for Soha” was completely vanquished. Once again, Dev attempted the flimsy old tale of my house and rules, but couldn’t help but add that breaking promises had become a habit of their relationship. While seeming to “break” his deal with Sona, Dev was referring to past promises of staying together forever, of never loving another again. Up to this point, Sona thought it was Dev in one of his moods. She focused on the “house rules” and “deals” that were separating her from her daughter, because her mind was still in the zone of the last few days. Until they walked into the other room, Sona had no idea that the problem was no longer one parent to another- it was one ex against the other. It was about the shadow of love for each other, not love for their child.
Tumblr media
D: “Tumhari asliyat kaho gi ya yeh bhi jhoot hai?”
Dev establishes the surety in his accusation upon entering the room. He’s spent days pondering on who Jatin really is for Sona, making excuses regarding his “house rules” the blanket the jealousy that was brewing. This wasn’t jealousy because he thought he had a chance with Sona. This wasn’t jealousy from realizing he still loved her. This was confusing limbo between having some shadow of love from 7 years ago and unknowingly falling in love with this Sona all over again. It was a jealousy that Sona seemed to be easily moving on when he couldn’t. Dev was at a point where he wasn’t sure if he was right but he wasn’t sure if he was wrong either. He was desperate for an answer to the question gnawing at his brain, so he followed Sona and found her with Jatin. When Dev walked into the room today, he thought he had all the proof he needed. He had seen Sona and Jatin together before and had seen them meeting in the car, but this time, he had overheard multiple phone conversations that sounded like a secret between her and Jatin. This time, she went to meet him in the middle of the night after such a conversation and didn’t even see Khatri until after Dev had left.
D: Enough of your tumi tumi
We have always seen the “tumi” exchange happen in anger, but I was still not expecting it in a tension scene of such caliber. It was endearing to see this exchange, and it sort of lent into the fact that this conversation was going to open up some feelings and discussions of the old days.
D: I hate it. I hate you.”
Notice that Dev said this as soon as he struck the first implication that Sona and Jatin are together. At this point he had given no excuse or reason for his stalking them or why it bothered him. This I HATE IT was not in reference to how Sona was as a mother or any other old tale but an open confession that he hates to see Jatin and Sona as a couple. Hate is a very strong word, and the accusations he was striking for the past few days hadn’t reach anywhere near that. He told her she should stay with Sona, he was suspicious that she was with Jatin but believed it when she called him a best friend. Yes, he was jealous, Yes he was wary about Jatin’s rights in Sona’s life. But it wasn’t until this photo capture that the possibility of them together hit him as a genuine reality. Today it was about his pain not Soha’s. That’s why today, he didn’t fake judge Sona as a mom (fake because he’s in reality always admired her for it) but as her husband. It was as if for a moment, he had forgotten that there was a 7 year lapse in their relationship. It was as if Dev Ki Deewangi was back with ten times more force, a force created by years of agony and hidden emotions. The last time Dev or Sona talked about hating each other was at summer camp, when Dev had very recently found out he had a daughter. Discovering Soha had reopened some old wounds and created some large, fresh ones. This “I hate you” was also said in reference to big, new wounds and reopening of the old. The summer camp “I hate you’s” were said seconds after they remembered each and every intimate moment they had spent together. Even this "I hate you” was seconds after Dev’s indirect reminder of all the promises they had made and didn’t keep. Back then and now, something significant shifted in Devakshi’s relationship. Which is why I couldn't help but title this piece- I hate you like I love you.
D: “Sirf main nahi, puri duniya janegi”
Dev has no real intention of telling the world Sona is with Jatin. If he did, he would have been able to tell Elena  yesterday, when she was coaxing him. He would have been able to tell Soha that Sona was with Jatin uncle. Dev had no plans to tell the world, but felt the burden of the world with just him knowing. He wanted to cry, to show his frustration, to show his heartbreak. But the only person that he could unload on was the person who he had made, as he said today, “the most important person in his life.” That was the only person who could know and would get what he was saying even when he wasn’t sure how to say it.
D: Iss baat ki hairani hain ke tum tumhari che saal ki choti bimar bachchi-
S: Shut up! Maine aisa kuch nahin kiya jis pe much sharminda hone chahiye
D: Of course, independent strong ladki ho, kuch bhi kar sakti ho
S: Tum mere character pe ungli...
I love that Sona didn’t even wait for the classic “bimar bachchi” excuse to work again, nor did she bother to justify her motherhood in any form or fashion. At this point, both subconsciously knew that this had nothing to do with Soha anymore. Sona stating that she didn’t do anything to be ashamed of caters to the fact that she was actually out trying to save the Dixit family. In Dev’s mind, this is translating to “so what if I am seeing Jatin? There is nothing wrong in it. There is nothing between me and you.” This is confirmed by the fact that he pulled his independent girl card again. Dev had fallen in love with the strong and independent Sona, so him using it so often in anger now seems ironic. It’s almost as if he’s pointing out that the strength that was so fluid and natural is being made an actual showcase in the form of “obodroism”. Him using this term today was a special indicator that his real hairani was not Sona leaving Soha but Sona and Jatin being a couple. Because a strong, independent ladki wouldn’t be a poor mother. However, she would, as Dev is implying, have the strength to power up and move on. While I was typing this, I started to think - but being strong and independent has nothing to do with being able to move on from a romantic relationship either. Yes, it may help, but it doesn’t make it a definite thing. So why does Dev associate that? That’s when Sona’s following line about “ilzaam and character pe ungli” hit me. Sona was wondering the same thing I was. She was shocked to think that Dev considered her someone who could EASILY get over her memories, her feelings and her deep-rooted love. Dev has many times mentioned that Sona left him, almost as if he thought she could have and should have fought through impossible odds in which he and his family failed her. Today, he showed her that he considered both leaving him and moving much easier for Sona than they actually were. As I said before, Dev knows there is nothing between him and Sona but was in full “husband” mode today. The idea of another man taking his place, the idea that his love would be nothing more than a distant memory is ironically making him assert his old haq on her even more. It’s almost as if he’s forgotten that they have broken up and is behaving according to that.
D: Aasoo aa rahe hain? Kis ke liye ? Jatin? You? Sympathy for me?
S: I’m telling you, munh band rakho
There was a palpable sarcasm in each word of his sentence. The reason I loved this line so much is because, people often ask if someone is crying and paining sarcastically, but the fact that they even notice or care to mention is a sign of love masked in anger. I was surprised to see Dev even put himself on the list of reasons for Sona to cry, even if out of sympathy. Given his surety that Sona had moved on, even this comment seemed to be soaked in sarcasm. It was because of this tone that Sona took extra offense and told him once again, to shut up. It’s interesting that she stopped right there, because she could have tried to clear his misunderstanding on her own. But she had learned that it was futile with all the “proof” Dev thought he had and the unchangeable assumptions that he was making based on them.
D: Main kitna pagal hoon na? Yehi karti ho na? Hum bhi toh pehle dost hi thi. Yehi tumhari chaal thi.
Dev reaches that staple point of every large revelation- the one where you tell yourself you should have known all along, and shame on you. This is the classic move in the book where you soften the blow of feeling cheated by claiming that there was nothing surprising about the cheater. Dev was quickly able to draw a parallel between their friendship turned love story to this new supposed couple. He is confirming to himself that his subtle suspicion on the “best friend” title being a dupe was proven right. So why is he saying “Yehi tumhari chal thi”? This “thi” is very significant, because it signifies that “leaving” is Sona’s habit more than her plan, and that history is going to repeat itself.
D: Itna dard diya ke mujhe dard mehsoos hi nahi hota
S: Agar tum ko dard nahin hota toh ye sab drama kyun kiya
D: Tum jaan na chahti ho? (I was tired of your daily lies and your facade of being a responsible adult) Tum jaan na chahti ho? Main jaan na chahta tha ke jis ladki sey maine itna pyaar kiya woh kaha jaa rahi hain, kya kar rahi hain?...Lekin woh ladki thi hi nahin. Yeh sab to jhoot tha
Second half of the first line is about as real as Dev the Casanova. Dev first convinced himself that he doesn’t need Sonakshi, then convinced himself he needs no one but himself. He went from that to saying he needs nothing but Soha and is trying to tell himself now that he does’t need Sona. In each and every one of those scenarios, a part of him has always needed Sona. He just didn’t know it, and the idea of accepting it and potentially facing more difficulties scares him. Sona normally went along with this facade and did it herself too. But today, she wasn’t able to resist making him admit that farq padta hain. It’s as if for the first time, the denial of feelings, the misunderstandings and these harsh accusations were hurting more than just facing the fact. Dev’s response to this was very interesting to me, because he partitioned his lies from his truth without realizing it. DO YOU WANT TO KNOW? I was tired of your lies, I was tired of you pretending to be a responsible adult (in reference to motherhood)...DO YOU WANT TO KNOW? I wanted to know what the girl I once loved so much was doing, where she was going. Dev wasn’t tired of lies, he was scared of the truth. He doesn’t think Sona has transformed into someone who would be a bad mom. He thinks she has transformed from the love of his life to the woman who could easily do without him. Yes, her exterior has transformed into something he can hardly recognize. But he isn’t able to, or doesn’t want to, grasp that the woman he once loved immensely is still under everything being seen at face value.
D: Ek baar tum Dev Dixit ko tod chuki ho, ab nahin tod sakti. Ab mujhe batana padega, even though main sab janta hoon...kya lagta hain tumara?
S: Dost tha, dost hain, dost rahega aur tum kuch nahin jaante ho
D: Jhoot bol rahi ho. Agar maine apni aankhon se nahin dekhta to yakin kar leta
S: Main sach bol rahi hoon.
Dev within the same sentence admitted that he had completely shattered without her and tried convincing himself and Sona that she couldn’t affect him any longer. It was as if he started prepping for his next challenge: hear the truth from her mouth and let it sink in once and for all. He was so sure of the truth that he couldn’t imagine the revelation being any different. Sona replying that Jatin was, is and always will be a dost established for Dev that Jatin was a big part of her life, is still important and will continue to be her friend (and just her friend) no matter what Dev thinks. The irony of Dev saying he would have believed her if he didn’t witness it is that he only witnessed it because he didn’t believe her. He tried his hardest to trust Sona, but the sketchy phone conversations, rightfully, did him over. It was this that made him witness the thing he now claims to “seal the deal”. But when Sona looked him in the eyes and defiantly said she is telling the truth, even Dev Dixit was take aback for a second.
D: I’m sure main akela nahin hoga jo inh aankhon main dekh kar din ko bhi raat maan le. Tum to jaanti ho tumhari aankhon kitni khoobsurat hain…lagta ki duniya rukh gayi sab kuch ther gaya.
This is a super poetic line in which Dev momentarily loses the divide between his compliments and his accusations. Dev tried to express how Sona trapped Jatin by expressing the thing he happily fell for to begin with. Because only UNAFFECTED men can tell you exactly why someone would fall in love with you. This line is so beautifully complex, because it implies that Sona can enchant a person but confuse them as well. Eyes that can make you mistake night for day imply both euphoria and trickery.
D: Tum ne mera dil thota hain Sonakshi Bose. Sahi kehte hain-insaan surat badal sakta hain lekin apni fitrat nahi. Tumhari fidrat main jhoot hain.
In case anyone still had any questions on if Dev hates or loves Sona, if he is being resentful or speaking from a place of real agony, he gave you your answer. Yes, Dev thinks Sona and Jatin together. No, he didn't mean the things about her character. If he did, he wouldn’t admit after everything he said that, in the present tense, she has broken his heart. With tears in his eyes, he cycles back to the same place that he had indirectly started this conversation: the promises she had made and didn’t keep. There is an implication of deceit in his “sahi kehte hain” line, and telling her that he expected this from her makes him feel like he’s holding it together when he’s actually at his weakest. It makes it easier to transform his pain into anger, because anger can be released in a way pain can’t.
S: Maine socha tha iss se zyada Dev Dixit mujhe insult nahi kar sakta, hurt nahi kar sakta. Lekin aaj tum ne cruelty ki had paar kar di.
Compared to the other times Dev and Sona fought, this fights bore open very raw and real feelings to a great extent. This was a fight that, though accompanied by some empty words, was also paired with some real pain rather than habitual hatred. This time, Sona was doing some more important for the Dixit family than she had potentially ever done and was being accused of something very opposite. Moreover, to see Dev’s hatred turn from annoyance and taunts to a real feeling of deceit shocked her. That’s why Dev Dixit has never stooped this low in her eyes. After this sentence, we see Dev ask Sona one last time what the truth is. In a desperation to clear both of their hatred, pain, misunderstanding, she almost tells him. However, she remembers how Dev might react knowing the truth and how Khatri my react to Dev and finds the strength to keep mum. Naturally Sona’s silence makes Dev assume he’s right once and for all. It was a truth that but deep enough for him to not want to stay a second longer. Sona grabbed his arm to stop him only to get the question...with what right? Dev’s “husband right” illusion had officially been shattered, even though remnants of deceit were still there. He then asked..”kyun”. Dev asking Sona why he should stay is proof that Soha never was the reason for everything he does. If she was, then the question of why he should stick around would never come up. Part of him wanted to know why Sona needed him after having Jatin.
Tumblr media
Papa sad the?
This was another “coffee shop” moment. Yesterday, the waiter innocently told Sona that Dev hadn’t come to the coffee shop in years, implying that this place was as meaningful to him as “Devakshi’s place” as it was to her. Dev used to even come after the initial break up, but this time the end was too final and painful. In this scene, the kids innocently made Sona realize that just like coffee shops, this habit of theirs was the same. Sona asks them “Papa sad the?” almost as if she’s taken aback that a man who could have so much hate for her, who told her everything she was to him was a deceit, had the same sadness. This was the point when Sona agreed that this Khatri situation did form to look really bad in Dev’s eyes but “khabhi khabhi, kuch jhoot rishto se bade hotey hain”. This was a line that worked both ways. Though Sona meant that she sacrificed her cordiality with Dev for the sake of the Dixit family, it also applies to the fact that Dev forgot his past and present relationship with her to believe the lie he thought he had the perfect proof for.

Kuch Rang Pyar Ke - Episode 275-279 (20th March - 24th March, 2017)
This week had some of the best episodes of the show. I might not agree with everything that was shown, but it all laid out a strategy for what's going to happen next.
Dev leaving a note for Sonakshi asking her to take a painkiller and to rest was a great scene to start off the week with. It gave me hope that for the rest of the week, Dev and Sonakshi are going to be cordial with each other, and that's exactly what happened. The conversation they had when when they were stranded in the forest is what helped them both realize that they're both hurting from the separation, and that they both feel saddened in their own ways.
When Soha called Dev 'Papa,' I felt like I was happier than Dev was. When Sonakshi and Dev separated, Dev was left with no one. But that day, none of it mattered to him anymore. Sonakshi being genuinely happy about Soha calling Dev 'Papa' was heartwarming to watch. Of course, the highlight of the scene was the family picture. It felt so nice to see them forgetting all their problems, even if it was for a few seconds.
Dev's gesture of taking Soha and Golu to the orphanage was very sweet, something that made us believe that the old Dev still exists. The most important aspect of this scene was the way Sonakshi kept looking at Dev the entire time they were there. We can slowly see Sonakshi's facade falling off, and that she’s showing her true feelings towards Dev. The entire time they were at the orphanage, Sonakshi could only look at Dev, the Dev she had fallen in love with.
After watching that scene, it got me thinking about how this changes the game on who would first want a reconciliation. Until now, I was sure that Dev would be the first one to want a reconciliation, even though he would claim that he was just doing it for Soha. But after the orphanage scene, I feel like Sonakshi would be the one who would want to get back together with Dev. I feel like Sonakshi will tell Dev that she's ready to forget everything that he's done to her and her family, put everything in the past and start afresh with him and Soha as a happy family. We know that Dev wants nothing more than to be a happy family with Sonakshi and Soha, but not yet. For Dev, it doesn't change the fact that Sonakshi didn't trust his love enough. Sonakshi saying those things would not solve any of Dev's problems, as he knows Ishwari still hasn't changed. This time, he would not impulsively ask Sonakshi to be with him without being more than a hundred percent sure that Ishwari has accepted his relationship with Sonakshi with all her heart.
When Soha tells her parents that she wants to live with the both of them, it comes as a shock to Dev and Sonakshi. But to be honest, it's a very normal thing for kids who come from a divorced family to ask for. Even though Sonakshi explained to Soha that she and Dev will not be able to live together, Soha is still a child. Things like this will not be understood so easily by her at this age. Dev was concerned too about Soha's wish, so he voiced out Soha's concern to her by explaining to her, "Suhana, main shayad aapka acha Papa ho sakta hoon, aapki Dadi ka acha beta bann sakta hoon, Golu ka acha chacha bann sakta hoon lekin aapki mummy ke liye kabhi ek acha husband nahi ho sakta." I loved the fact that Dev handled that part of the conversation with a lot more maturity that I expected him to. So did Sonakshi. No blame games, no fighting, just calmly explaining.
What Dev and Sonakshi are not understanding is that Soha's demand is very normal. Seeing her parents together, it was a very obvious thing for Soha to ask for. For Dev, this whole parenting thing is new. He doesn't even want the idea of Soha being disappointed to enter his mind. Them giving in to Soha's demand is going to be interesting to watch, but something good will come out of it, I know it :)
Dev telling Ishwari that Sonakshi is a part of his life, but only as Soha's mom, made me very happy. Dev has finally acknowledged the fact that Sonakshi is Soha's mom, and there's nothing anyone can do or say to change that. To win over Soha, Sonakshi had to be won over first. And that's what we saw when Soha decided to call Dev 'Papa.' We saw her thinking about all the times Dev was with her mom, and how he helped her.  Not only Dev, but Sonakshi too had finally accepted the fact that Soha is also Dev's daughter. There was no more 'meri beti' from either side, and that is such a progress. It was a treat to hear Sonakshi say, "Soha Dev ki beti hai aur usey jaan ne ka poora haq hai" to when Bijoy asked her not to inform Dev about their move to Kolkata.
Ishwari took me by surprise in the scene where she's talking to Dev about Sonakshi's presence in his life. With her arms folded, she had some new found confidence in her suspicion. She asks Dev, "Pata nahi kab peecha chodegi woh tumhara, kab teri zindage se hamesha ke liye..." to which Dev stopped her and said, "Sochke bol, Maa. Kya bol rahi hai tu?" Dev was firm with Ishwari in that scene and asked her to also acknowledge the fact that where ever Soha is going to be there, Sonakshi is going to be there too, but only as Soha's mom. Dev does not let his mom influence him anymore, and this conversation is proof of that. Ishwari saying that had Soha been brought up in her house, she wouldn't have been throwing a tantrum like this had me laughing to myself. Is it just me, or does anyone else feel like Soha's being unreasonable just like her Dadi? Isn't Soha throwing a tantrum just like how her Dadi would in order to get Dev to listen to her? Now now, what does Ishwari have to say to this.   Ishwari's most ignorant and idiotic comment till date was, "Dev aur Suhana ke beech mein Sonakshi kahan se aa gayi?" Does Ishwari not know how babies are born? For her to even think that and actually say it out loud to Mami is proof that redemption is extremely far from her.
Asha made me very happy this week. The first time was when she asked Sonakshi if she started to love and trust Dev again. Asha was never against Dev. She always used to explain his perspective to Sonakshi. Even this time, Asha explained to her daughter that no matter what Sonakshi thinks about Dev, Soha is there as a joining force between them. The second time was when she told Bijoy, "Bachon ko agar meetha khilathe rahe to unhe mirchi khane ki aadat kabhi nahin padegi." That is so true. As parents, you cannot give in to anything and everything your (six year old) child asks for. Soha is just throwing a tantrum (like her Dadi and Dadu) and will get over it. I agreed with Asha when she told Sonakshi to let Soha go to Kolkata, as she will realize that she cannot stay without her parents, and will come back in a few days. Asha was the only sensible one to support Dev and Sonakshi in their decision of them staying together. Asha knows that something good will come out of this decision of theirs, she definitely is the coolest!
My most favorite moments from all the episodes of the week was when Dev tells Golu, "Purani aadat hain meri. Iss ghar mein rehne wale aksar mujhse naraz ho jaate hain, aur main aise hi bahar baith kar unka wait karta hoon, unka mood theek hone ka." That was the cutest scene of the entire week. I wish I had a reason to explain why I liked it so much, but it just brought back so many good memories to me of when Dev and Sonakshi used to date.
Dev and Sonakshi talking about Jatin was a scene which showed me how Dev and Sonakshi are not only cordial with each other now, but informal enough to tease each other a little bit. Of course, the highlight of that scene was when they both sat on the pavement, helpless about what to do. Dev saying, "Maine aaj itna helpless mehsoos nahi kiya, jitna aaj kar rahaa hoon. Shaayad uss din bhi nahi, jis din tum…" showed such a promise for their further interactions. They were finally talking as Dev and Sonakshi, and not just as Soha's parents.
Bijoy never disapproved of Dev until he saw tears in his daughter's eyes because of Dev. Bijoy didn't interfere in Sonakshi's choice until Dev broke up with her the first time. Bijoy not trusting the entire Dixit family is completely acceptable. Dev would've been the same, if not worse, to the guy who broke Soha's heart. My only problem with Bijoy is the fact that he's very interfering in Sonakshi's decisions, and that confuses her as to whether she's doing the right thing. This week, Bijoy did nothing but diss Dev, and think that a six year old's idea of moving to a different city is genius. Well, Kolkata isn't a secret place, and Dev can easily get there. It's not going to be rocket science for Dev to figure out how to get to Kolkata to meet his daughter. We know Bijoy is coming from a protective side, but he's becoming illogical by doing so. He literally started packing his bags the second Soha said she wants to move to Kolkata. If Bijoy tries one more time to keep Sonakshi and Dev apart from each other, as Asha said, Soha will blame her Dadu for keeping her parents away from each other. And what I don't understand is how Bijoy was ready to skip his own son's wedding ceremony in order to keep Dev away from Soha. I agree with the tweets that say just like how Ishwari is blind towards her daughter's needs, Bijoy is the same to Saurabh.
Sonakshi and Dev arguing about their new living situation was a fun scene to watch. First of all, thank you to Sonakshi for questioning Dev about what's wrong if she's a feminist. I don't want to get into the details of feminism, but i'm sure Dev will learn the meaning of it soon. Both Dev and Sonakshi not wanting to stay in the others' house was very understandable. If I were Sonakshi, there is no way i'd want to go back to that 'madhouse.' She was miserable there (except for when she was alone with Dev) and as she said, she was saying that with experience. Dev not wanting to go to the Bose house is understandable too. The Boses think he kicked them out of their house, so obviously they weren't going to welcome him into their home. So this temporary solution they came up with, as of now, is going to be very interesting to watch.
Before entering the Bose house for his week long stay, I loved the flashbacks and the memories that Dev was thinking about, "Ek baar phir, zindagi ne mujhe isi darwaze ke saamne laakar khada kar diya hain. Kitni ajeeb baat hain, aur aisa lagta hai ke jaise iss ghar se, ek nahi, kahi rishte jude hain. Boss, dost, boyfriend, pagal aashiq, aur ab pati. Lekin ye rishta, sabse khaas hain. Aaj se pehle, main kitna kuch tha. Lekin aaj ke baad, main sirf Suhana ka Papa hoon." I loved how he thought about all the different kinds of relationships he shared with Sonakshi. This was one of the best scenes of the week.
Dev and Sonakshi went against their whole family and told them that they made their decision of living together solely for Soha, and that it has nothing to do with anyone or anything else. It made me happy to realize that they are making this decision together. Dev and Sonakshi have realized that the other will always have a place in Soha's heart. Dev telling Soha that it was him and her mom who decided to stay together for Soha was something that I was waiting to watch. I wanted to see Dev tell Soha that he and Sonakshi are in this together, and only for Soha. And Dev thanking Asha for her support was heartwarming to watch. Dev always used to tell Sonakshi how understanding and supporting her mom is.
Is it just me, or does anyone else think that Dev staying in the Bose house isn't going to be that bad? I mean, of course, it's not going to be all rainbows and sunshine. But it's not going to be like Dev will be miserable there. I really wish something good comes out of his stay there. I really want Asha to explain to Dev all that Sonakshi had to go through after their separation. I would love to see that conversation between the two of them, a nice, mature conversation that makes Dev understand how Sonakshi was treated in the Dixit house. I hope the Boses also get to know that Dev had nothing to do with the evacuation and prenup papers, but I think it's too soon for that. To say that i'm looking forward to the next few episodes is an understatement!

Kuch Rang Pyar Ke - Episode 255 (20th Feb, 2017)
The past couple of episodes have been a rollercoaster ride: ups and downs, twists and turns, and giving us butterflies in the stomach. But it’s been so worth it, because we are almost at the fall, which is Dev finally finding out about Suhana.
The previous episode (254) ended with Dev calling Elena and asking her to come meet her family. Elena, at first, wasn’t sure if she was hearing it right, but when Dev gave her the assurance that no one (Dixits) will stop her from coming, she was excited to see her family after 7 years. I didn’t quite understand when she said, “Maine saat saal pehle aap sab ko promise kiya tha ki main uss family se koi rishta nahi rakhungi.” Did she make that promise to Dev too? I don’t think so, because I don’t think it would’ve made a difference to him if Elena had or hadn’t kept in touch with her family.
A few episodes into the leap, we saw Dev tell Elena that her sister, Sonakshi is in Delhi, and that she can meet her if she wants to. At that point, I felt like Dev truly didn’t care whether Elena met her sister or no, since he had no motive behind informing her that Sonakshi was in town. But in last week’s episode, when Dev made that phone call, I knew it was for his own selfish reasons. I knew it was because he wanted clarity on how Suhana is related to the Bose family. I was really hoping I was wrong, but Dev proved me right by asking Elena to do him that favor. I’m pretty much (always) on #TeamDev, so even now, I’ll take his side by saying that right now, he’s just really confused and perplexed. For him to think about anything or anyone other than Suhana is out of the question. He’s not in the state of mind to consider anyone’s thoughts at this point. So according to him, there’s nothing selfish in what he asked Elena to do.
We all know Ishwari is selfish, insecure, and has a bundle of (self inflicted) problems. Everyone complains how her character hasn’t changed yet. Well, she’s not going to change so easily. She still thinks Sonakshi is the reason why Dev is so messed up today. But here’s my opinion, she shouldn’t change so easily. She has put Dev and Sonakshi through a lot, and she needs to understand what she’s done. She’s not going to understand that overnight, she’s not going to understand it in a week or a month either. It’s going to be a process, and to be honest, I’m eagerly looking forward to seeing that process. Ishwari is the crux of all the problems that we are seeing right now, and only Dev and Sonakshi can solve them. Yes, Soha will be a helping hand in all of it, but i feel like Dev and Sonakshi together are the only two people who can make her understand what she’s done wrong. For that to happen, we have to see Dev and Sonakshi, if not get together, at least understand each other’s present (post-leap) situations.
The one thing that I feel will happen, and at the same time feel won’t happen, is Soha thinking her father is “spineless and rude.” I feel like Soha will change her impression of Golu’s Bigcha and her friend, once she finds out that he’s her father. She’s going to think that the person she thought was her “Superman” is the same person her mom told her was “spineless and rude.” If they don’t show Soha thinking like this, I’ll be happy because that would mean she’s capable of judging people by herself. But if she does think this, then I’d love to see Sonakshi explain to her daughter that just because he wasn’t the best husband, doesn’t mean Dev will not be a wonderful father. As Jatin said, Dev can only handle one relation at a time, and he’ll handle the father-daughter relation beautifully.
I’m really looking forward to seeing how the story unfolds . Here’s a list of scenes I’d love to watch in the upcoming episodes:
1. When Dev comes to know that Soha is his and Sonakshi’s daughter, we all know he’s going to be super angry that he wasn’t told about this for the past 6 years. But I’d really like to see him act like the grown up he is, and make the mature decision to let bygones be bygones and start afresh with Soha. We know that this isn’t going to do anything positive to his relationship with Sonakshi immediately, but when she sees Dev with Soha, her feelings for him will rekindle, and she’ll start to notice that too.
2. I want Sonakshi to be the sensible person she is, and drop the stern and boss-like act that she’s got going on. She should’ve told Dev about their daughter, but she didn’t, and she should move on from that and let Soha meet her father. (There was a segment released yesterday where we saw Sonakshi with a baby, standing outside the Dixit house. Well, she clearly wanted to tell Dev about their daughter, but I want to know who asks Sonakshi to leave. It can’t be Radha Rani or Vicky, because they still think Sonakshi can’t have a child. Was it Dev? Or Mamaji? I feel it was Ishwari, because she hates Sonakshi so much that she would’ve thought it was someone else’s child. Or maybe she herself decides that it’s not worth it and leaves. I’m thinking too much about this!)
3. I don’t want Ishwari to know about Soha anytime soon. I want Dev to enjoy his daughter’s (and wife’s) company all to himself for as long as he can. He never wanted to tell his family about Sonakshi when they were dating because he wanted to keep her all for himself, not share her with anyone. I think he should do the same with Soha now. Make up as much as he can for all the lost time. I know it’s not possible now, he’s a grown up, and not dating someone to hide it from his family, but we all know how crazy his family is. So I really want him to get the most of his little (and big) Miss.Bose, before Ishwari starts being her crazy self.
4. Once Ishwari comes to know about Soha, I want Dev to bring up the fact that it was her who kept not only him, but also Ishwari herself away from her granddaughter. The prenup papers clearly mentioned that the Dixits will not be held responsible for Dev and Sonakshi’s child in the case of a divorce. Bijoy should witness the conversation between Dev and Ishwari about the prenup papers, Sonakshi, and Soha post leap, just like he did when the papers were first brought up in the show. And I really want the writers to tell us whether Dev and Sonakshi are divorced or not, because they never really spoke about that as yet.
On a side note, I’m really digging Dev’s new look with the stubble, but the dude’s got to cut his hair and start dressing like he used to. But he should keep the stubble, because it’s really suiting him. Sonakshi’s looking really nice too, but enough with the same outfit in different colors!! And I feel like Soha has only one dress, so please give the little cutie some more clothes!
This show never fails to surprise me, and I’m waiting to be more and more surprised every week. Cannot wait to see how the story progresses.

Kuch Rang Pyar Ke - Episode 232 (18th Jan, 2017)
It’s been three episodes since the leap, and every single one of them has kept me at the edge of my seat. Okay, okay, I know, it’s a tv show, and not even a suspense one. But what can I do? Every episode is getting us closer and closer to Dev meeting Sonakshi and Suhana, and I can’t take it any longer. But now that Sonakshi and Suhana are in Delhi, we are getting closer to that moment.
Today’s episode starts with the scene where Sonakshi and Suhana leaving for Delhi, and Bijoy being against it. He tells her that he doesn’t trust the people of Delhi anymore (well, the Dixits in particular) and how she should be careful there. But towards the end of the scene, he’s nodding his head to Sonakshi telling him that she will inform them about details on their move to Delhi. What’s his logic behind that?
Sonakshi and Suhana’s car ride in Delhi was an interesting one. No matter how much Sonakshi tries to hide it, she’s really nervous about being in Delhi. After watching today’s episode, I feel like Sonakshi telling Suhana in Monday’s episode, ““Ho sakta hai ke Delhi mein tum unse bhi milo,” was Sonakshi preparing herself that she might run into Dev in Delhi. Even her daughter could sense it, and that’s why asked her, “Aap kisi ka wait kar rahe ho?”
The scene when she enters the Delhi Bose house was a beautiful one. Sonakshi telling her daughter about the memories she had in that house was bringing back good memories for us too, since that house didn’t have a happy ending pre-leap. Did anyone else notice how she never associated with any memories of Dev from her house? They show the scene of Asha’s birthday, and Dev was there too, but we never got a glimpse of him. She’s had some great times with Dev in that house- Dev coming to her house several times before they even starting dating, Dev sending the puchka wala to her house, and most recently, Dev and Sonakshi’s friendly argument when Bijoy kicks them out of the house.
And of course, the best part of the scene was when Suhana calls Sonakshi a “khargosh.” Oh my God, just let the three of them be a happy family already!!
So today we came to know that Dev doesn’t even stay at the Dixit house anymore, which honestly, I did not expect. I feel like him staying at the Dixit house, and still being indifferent towards everyone in the family would be more convincing in making us feel like the old Dev exists. When he reaches the house, he was pretty blah about everything and everyone, except for Golu. And the best part is that he’s unapologetic about being blah. He’ll still keep his family in his life, it’s just that now, he sees through their insecurities and B.S.
I was waiting for the first conversation between Dev and Ishu post the leap, and it’s not what I expected. I thought Dev would be really lukewarm towards Ishu, and she would feel more sad every time he behaved that way, but nope, nothing of that sort happened. I liked what I saw in today’s episode waaay more than what I was expecting. He’s still the same to her, ensuring that no matter where he goes, he’s going to come back to her. Ishu talking about Sonakshi came out of nowhere. And as soon as Dev hears Sonakshi’s name, you can see how he looks all around, but cannot see eye to eye with his mom, because he knows that even hearing Sonakshi’s name still affects him.
Finally, the writers addressed my questions about Elena and Sonakshi’s post leap relationship. So, it’s obvious that Elena didn’t bother to even contact her family, and she feels bad about it. She tells Dev, “Please Dev Bhai, this is unfair. Aapko pata hain main hamesha aap logo ke saath khadi rahi hoon, aur aap aisa bol rahe hain?” I don’t understand why she couldn’t at least talk to her family every now and then, but maybe there’s an explanation for that too. When he tells Elena that Sonakshi is in Delhi, you can see Elena’s face light up. But Dev is very pokerface when he mentioned that Sonakshi was in Delhi.
The whole “Bose sisters ko kabhi meri samajh aayegi hi nahi, kabhi mujhe sahi maanenge hi nahi. But it’s okay, mujhe aadat ho gyai hain.” taunt has so much meaning behind it. Dev was clearly trying to say that Sonakshi never gave him a chance to explain why he did what he did. Even in the last episode pre-leap, Dev is telling her, “Sonakshi, I’m telling you, woh sab galti se hua, please usse bhool jaao,” and she’s not even ready to listen to him, and just tries to oppose everything he says. Dev saying that to Elena also means that he’s trying so hard to prove that Sonakshi means nothing to him, so it’s okay to taunt her.
Dev and Sonakshi’s face off at the function is a scene I cannot wait to watch tomorrow. I’m so excited for it. Also, thank you writers, for not prolonging and unnecessarily dramatizing their much awaited meet. Dev walking in with a flask shows us that Dev really hasn’t changed much. After staying away from Sonakshi, Dev still cannot talk to her when he’s in his senses, just like he couldn’t when Sonakshi and Rithvik went on their date and on their engagement day.
Everyone’s been talking about Dev taking Sonakshi’s award from her. What’s that about? Does he physically take the award from her? I guess we’ll know tomorrow.
Ooo, a very random opinion, but Shaheer Sheikh should really keep his stubble for Dev’s character. It’s suiting him a lot.

Kuch Rang Pyar Ke (16th Jan, 2017)
Before saying anything, let me just say that after watching today’s episode, I didn’t find myself hysterically crying like I was pretty much after all of last week’s episodes. Today was the first episode post the eagerly awaited 7 year leap, and let me say, it wasn’t as disappointing as I thought it would be. Of course, I have my complaints, but overall, I was pretty happy with what was shown.
To start off, let me just say that I’m so glad that the writers removed my biggest worry of them giving us a Kuch Kuch Hota Hai storyline. If I wanted to see a little girl reuniting her father with the love of his life, I’d just re-watch my favorite movie. I mean, I know that somewhere along the show, she is going to try to get them back together, but I think that they’re just not going to make it as obvious.
The episode starts off by showing us Sonakshi’s new life. She lives with her daughter, Suhana, and Bijoy and Asha in a gorgeous house in Kolkata. She’s not really the same old Sonakshi that we were craving to see. She’s definitely back to being fierce, bold, and most importantly, independent, (I never felt like she was dependent on Dev when they were married, but we definitely got to see less of it then,) but I feel like she’s not giving out the same positive, happy vibes she used to. She’s too bitter with what went down with her and the Dixits’. The very harsh businesswoman side of her that we got to see today seemed very forced, like something she’s doing just to keep her mind diverted from Dev. Her daughter, Suhana, is pretty much a mini version of her, which was nice to see. Bijoy and Sonakshi are still very bitter about everything that went down 7 years back. Asha is still very supportive and lets Sonakshi make her own decisions.
I loved the fact that Sonakshi was open with Suhani, and mentioned (almost) everything that the little Bose-Dixit needed to know before going to Delhi.  I really wish Sonakshi didn't call her marriage to Dev “a bad decision.” I thought it was very unfair on her part to think so because she’s forgetting all the good times they shared, even the last few moments in Shimla, because that’s when Suhana was conceived. I wish she hadn’t called him “spineless and rude” either. Again, maybe I’m just being biased to Dev. Actually, here, I think I’m being biased to their relationship. What I didn’t like about the conversation between Sonakshi and Suhana was the fact that Sonakshi showed Suhana how she didn’t want anything to do with Dev, but was still okay with Suhana meeting him. Even after she called him spineless and rude, what made Sonakshi think that he wouldn’t be the same with Suhana. That didn’t sit too well with me. And the biggest question I had after watching today’s episode was that if there wasn’t a work crisis for Sonakshi to solve in Delhi, would she have never told Suhana about Dev? At least, that’s what it seemed like to me, because she said to her daughter “Ho sakta hai ke Delhi mein tum unse bhi milo,” which to me meant that she wanted Suhana to know about her father incase they run into him.
When Sonakshi and Dev were dating, she once said to him, “Aapka dil bahot acha hai, aur aisa dil sabke paas nahi hota.” But Sonakshi got very lucky, because her daughter has a dil just like her fathers’. When Sonakshi tells Suhani that after she and Dev separated, she had Suhani, and the first thing Suhani tells her mother is, “Lekin Papa ko tho kuch nahi mila.” I feel like that was an indication to tell us that Suhana has a good heart, just like her fathers’ (and mothers’.) But my most favorite part of the episode was how Suhana liked to be addressed as Miss. Bose. If not for Sonakshi, it definitely brought back good memories for the viewers, and I really felt like that’s a part of Dev in her.
We just got a glimpse of Dev in today’s episode, and I’m happy about that, because I don't think I’m ready to see the “new” Dev yet. I don’t think I’d accept him that easily in his casanova avatar. It’s going to take a while for me to digest the fact that the old Dev isn’t going to be back anytime soon.
I’m super excited to see Dev’s interaction with Ishu post the leap. That’s a scene that I’m eagerly waiting for. Today, we saw Ishu say, “Yeh saat saal maine saat janmo ki tarah bitaye.” So we know that it’s pretty much since that day that Dev changed and isn’t a devotee of his mom anymore.
The rest of the episode was just filling us up on the lives of Radha Rani and Vicky-Elena-Gillu (Gullu?). The reason why Dev and Gillu/Gullu bond with each other is because, I feel, that Dev thinks he’s the only one who won’t remind of him Sonakshi’s tragic exit from his life, as Gillu/Gullu wasn’t there at that time. He remind Dev of a time when Dev and Sonakshi had no relation with each other.
Again, this may be irrelevant, but for some reason, I think that Sonakshi cut off ties with Elena too, because had they been talking, I’m pretty sure the latter would at least know of Suhana’s existence, which they didn’t talk about in today’s episode.
Overall, it was a good start to the week, and more importantly, to the new season of the series. I’m looking forward to see how the story plays off from hereon.

Kuch Rang Pyar Ke - Episode 235 and 236 (23rd Jan and 24th Jan, 2017)
Since the show started, I’ve (pretty much always) been on Team Dev. I always felt that he’s sensible and knows what he’s doing. I hate saying this, but today, Dev was downright rude, ill-mannered, and most importantly, not the Dev we all love.
I get that he’s hurting and really just wants to be with Sonakshi, and that’s why he relates everything Shruthi says to what Sonakshi used to say to him. We know they both wish they could forget everything that happened pre-leap and just be happy with each other, but we’ve got time for that to happen. Right now, they’re both just trying to prove to each other who is better at hating the other. But that’s no excuse for Dev’s behavior with Shruthi. I was actually shocked seeing that, because I would’ve never thought Dev could become like this. Yeah, he’s a “casanova” now, but come on, none of us are going to buy this act of his. His whole idea of ‘love’ being fictitious is kind of funny, since he told Sonakshi on his birthday that he’s began to love ‘love.’ This act has got to end soon, because I don’t think I can see Dev being this forced playboy, it’s really unconvincing.
I really liked the contrast they showed between Sonakshi and Elena in terms of their parenting skills. Sonakshi, no matter how busy, always takes time out for Soha, making sure she gets everything she wants. She even treats Soha like a big girl, rather than babying her all the time. Elena, on the other hand, isn’t a bad parent, it’s just that her first priority is her work, and then Golu. The scene in which Dev is telling Golu a bedtime story over the phone goes to show that Dev will be the nicest and most caring father. I liked how the writers also addressed the single mom issue. But Sonakshi doesn’t have to act like she’s the only single mother out there.
Sonakshi’s behavior was very immature in today’s episode. She somehow wanted to get back at Dev for, I think, the whole award snatching scene, so she decided to insult him through Shruthi. That was a very juvenile thing to do. To bring up personal issues like calling Dev ‘Mama’s boy’ and ‘spineless’ in front of someone who, Sonakshi knows, isn’t important, was very childish and, to be honest, not something our old Dr. Bose would do. Sonakshi, too, has got to stop acting like a cold-hearted, stern person. This exterior of her is not fooling anyone, not even Dev.
The one thing I noticed during Shruthi’s rant on Dev to Sonakshi was that Sonakshi didn’t like the fact that Shruthi was insulting him. You know how only you are allowed to make fun of and trouble your loved ones? Sonakshi feels the same way for Dev. Shruthi says, “Dev duniya ka sabse bada badtameez aadmi hai,” to which Sonakshi says, “Enough, ye sab bolne ki koi zarurat nahi hai.” Even Shruthi, after that, felt like Sonakshi was taking Dev’s side, and then Sonakshi, to make herself feel better, insulted him through Shruthi.
The only word that affected Dev was ‘aubodhro.’ I feel like had Shruthi not said that word, his reaction wouldn’t be so extreme and unnecessary.  When Sonakshi opened the door, I could definitely see Dev forgetting why he was even there. Seeing Sonakshi made him feel better, even if it was just for a few seconds. During their face-off, Dev, for the most part, didn’t say anything because he didn’t find the need to. He only questioned her reaction of calling the security by asking her, “tum do saal ki choti bachi ho kya?” True that, Dev! She is acting like a do saal ki bachi. Well, we all know that Dev isn’t behaving like a grown up either.
I looooove how Dev gave it back to Sonakshi by using her own new “Bada ya chota faisla, main banane mein paanch minute se zyada waqt nahi lagati” mantra against her. When the cops come to arrest him, he says, “Paanch minute mein liye gaye faisle aksar galat hote hain. Aur jo faisle galat hote hain na, tho unn mein aur zyada waqt barbaad hota hain.”  And that’s what happened. Not even ‘paanch minute’ later, Sonakshi was calling up the cop, asking him to let Dev go. Dev knows her too well. I feel like he was also referring to the fact how she just decided to leave him, without giving her decision a thought, or without even giving Dev a chance to explain.
I know Bijoy Bose is a great father who is understanding towards everything that Sonakshi has been through. Stood by her everytime, even when he wasn’t too happy with her decisions. In fact, he always wanted Sonakshi to marry someone who can love, support, and understand her as much as he did. Sonakshi did marry someone like that. Dev loved, supported and understood Sonakshi; it’s just that Bijoy didn’t get a chance to see that. But ever since the first episode post-leap, Bijoy Bose has been getting on my last nerve. He needs to take a chill pill. I understand that he’s going to be concerned as a father, but please, Sonakshi has her own daughter now, and honestly, wants Dev to see her new attitude. That’s why, Sonakshi purposely interferes in issues related to Dev, like dedicating the award to him, returning the trophy, insulting him through Shruthi, getting him kicked out of the hotel, and then herself asking to let him go.
Dev’s indifference towards Ishu is such a weird thing to watch. The viewers aren’t used to the fact that Dev does not take his mom’s blessings everyday, doesn’t meet her as soon as he comes home, and doesn’t even eat the food she cooked for him. But regardless of all this, Dev still knows when his mom’s feeling down, that’s why he calls her back and ensures that he’s fine, and tells her that these things don’t affect him anymore. And not to mention, the best part of the episode: Golu asking Dev why he looks sad. I really want to see Dev in a scene alone, maybe a soliloquy, which will tell us what he actually feels.
Suchi-rambles, in her blog, said, “I have admired Sona’s independent, self-sufficient modern young woman avatar of earlier. But this new Sona disturbs me. Her attitude reeks of extreme insolence, arrogance & scant respect for anyone. Whether it’s her employee, the hotel staff, the security guards, the police, the school principal or Dev, she talks to people with disdain. Politeness is seriously missing in her speech. Treating people like crap doesn’t make you a successful person, Sona. Nor do these traits make you a feminist. They only show how you have let your true self degrade.” So true, I agree.
I read in this article which said relationships sometime become so bitter, that you end up reliving and remembering only those moments, rather than the good ones that you spent. Both Dev and Sonakshi only keep remembering the last few days they sent together, which clearly don’t count as good memories. Don’t they ever think about the good times they had when they were dating? Or even before that, when they liked each other?
To be honest, I’d rather watch Dev and Sonakshi brooding for each other, like they did during their break-up, because this facade of their’s isn’t convincing. I really hope the writers just speed this up, and take us back to Ishu-Dev-Sonakshi drama, because that would at least be more real.
