Oh yes! A good one!

Do I ship it? Well, while I support those who do and share art and such, I personally do not ship Daforge.

1.) why don’t you ship it?

Mostly because I believe they have a strong healthy friendship, it’s deep and meaningful and I’m a big fan of platonic love. I personally don’t see any romantic or sexual chemistry between them but I really don’t see that from Data at all. I mostly headcanon him as Ace and his moment with Tasha I imagine as being more about experimentation, same with the episode where he dated a fellow officer.

2.) what would have made you like it?

I like sexual chemistry in my ships. If there had been some heat I’d have shipped it. If I didn’t think of Data as Ace/Aro and Geordi wanting a romantic relationship with someone. I’d have shipped it. If I didn’t think we need good and healthy friendships in media that are based off of more than just dating and love, again, I’d have shipped it. I feel we need that in fandom. It’s completely and 100% valid to have platonic ships and otp friendships.

3.) do you have anything positive to say about it?

Absolutely! Even if I don’t ship it I still enjoy the artwork and stories I’ve seen from others. It’s a very healthy relationship of mutual respect and closeness. It can be very tender and sweet and all of these are very good things. I completely understand why it’s such a popular pairing.
