1986 BMW R80G/S París-Dakar

BMW creó la motocicleta dual-sport cuando lanzó la R80G/S en 1980.

El concepto comenzó con un ingeniero de BMW que modificó una R75/5 para competir en la brutal Prueba Internacional de los Seis Días, una carrera de motocicletas todoterreno. Eso condujo al R80G/S, que rápidamente tuvo éxito en el rally París-Dakar, ganando en 1981, '83 y '84.

La R80G/S Paris-Dakar se fabricó solo durante un año y se pensaba que se fabricarían alrededor de 200. Muchas otras se convirtieron a lo largo de los años, pero esta moto es un ejemplo totalmente original que se vende en los EE.UU.

Además del carenado delantero, el guardabarros trasero y el tanque exclusivos, la moto tiene dos carburadores Bing que alimentan el legendario motor bicilíndrico horizontal de 797,5 cc tipo 247 de BMW y un basculante monopalanca de un solo lado que utiliza un solo amortiguador trasero y el eje de transmisión como parte del suspensión trasera.

Mostrando solo 5,593 millas, la moto está actualmente en subasta.

1945 M-80 | USSR 

At the Gorky Motorcycle Plant (GMZ) the first race motorcycle of its own design was the M-80, produced in 1946.

One can speculate whether the motorcycle engine design was entirely created at the GMZ or the creator of the M-80, Naum Gudkin, used some of the existing engines M-75, the development of which was conducted at the same time. Perhaps the second version is more likely, since the centralization of the motorcycle industry in the USSR allowed parts and entire designs to be transferred from one plant to another.

The M-80 has the same chassis as the M-72, which is only slightly modified and lightened. The engine also retained much in common with the M-72 engine, the only difference being that the cylinders and overhead valve heads are the same design as the German BMW R75.

Motorcycle is equipped with 746 ccm OHV engine with a compression ratio of 9.5 and 40 horsepower at 6000 rpm. Mass of the motorcycle is 192 kg. Maximum speed is 170 kmph.

Only 5 copies of M-80 were produced. At the end of '40s all these models participated in different races, as evidenced by the few surviving photos. Two motorcycles were given to the "Labor reserves" sport society. In the summer of 1947 Honored Master of Sports of the USSR Eugene Gringaut set on the M-80 an absolute all-USSR speed record - 172 kmph.
