🌄 This is one of my favourite views in the Lake District: Thirlmere (Reservoir) from Comb Crags on the steep western slopes of the Helvellyn mountain range. 🌄

🥾 Keen to experience this vista? Try my Helvellyn walk from Thirlmere, an amazing 7-mile circular trail that avoids the busier Striding Edge and Swirral Edge paths. Start at Swirls Car Park, ascend south-east to Browncove Crags, proceed to Lower Man, and reach the Helvellyn summit. 🥾

👣 From there, the route heads towards Nethermost Pike, skirts above High Crags, and descends through Birk Side and Comb Crags—where I stand in this photo. Wander through beautiful woodlands and circle back north on a forestry track to your starting point. Intrigued to explore this trail? 👣

Foi esta segunda-feira o último concerto dos Aerosmith em solo nacional, integrado na digressão final da banda chamada Aero-Vederci Baby. Aquele que prometia ser “um dos maiores espectáculos do rock alguma vez visto” deixou um pouco a desejar mas também, quando se criam expectativas destas, difícil é depois de as cumprir.

A histórica banda de Boston resolveu colocar um ponto final na carreira (embora saibamos que isto de dizer adeus em definitivo, na música, nem sempre é assim). Para isso preparou então uma extensa digressão que passou agora pelo nosso país, num MEO Arena repleto de fãs entusiastas que não quiserem perder esta despedida por nada. O espectáculo começou quase pontualmente e com uma bela retrospectiva com muitas imagens a passarem no ecrã gigante. Imagens de 45 anos de concertos, discos e história.

Steven Tyler, Joe Perry e companhia subiram então ao palco e começaram o espalhafato com “Let the Music Do the Talking” e depois “Nine Lives”. Sempre a abrir e com muita guitarrada a acompanhar os movimentos loucos mas já característicos de Tyler. O vocalista dos Aerosmith, actualmente com 69 anos, já não corre pelo palco como o faz ainda, por exemplo, Axl Rose mas é incansável, principalmente quando rodopia agarrado ao seu microfone cheio de fitas. É ele de facto o grande líder do grupo. O palco com uma grande passadeira que inrrompe pela plateia serve para iluminar e destacar Tyler. Passou a maior parte do concerto no final da tal passadeira, para estar bem perto do público, esticando vezes sem conta o seu microfone para os fãs cantarem ainda mais.

Foi só chegada à quarta canção que o MEO Arena teve o seu primeiro momento de êxtase. “Livin’ On The Edge” de Get a Grip foi cantada em uníssono numa bela recordação dos nineties. Também “Eat The Rich” e “Cryin’, do mesmo disco tiveram igual recepção, comparável com outras excelentes canções da banda como “Love In An Elevator” do álbum Pump, “Sweet Emotion” de Toys In The Attic, “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” da banda sonora de Armageddon e “Dude (Looks Like a Lady)” de Permanent Vacation. Pelo meio houve as habituais versões, muito bem recebidas também, de “Stop Messin’ Around” e “Oh Well” dos Fleetwood Mac e principalmente “Come Together” dos Beatles.

Chegado o encore foi tempo de se colocar o piano na passadeira para Tyler liderar com a canção “Dream On”. Seguiu-se uma última cover, desta feita de James Brown, com “Mother Popcorn” e para arrematar a icónica “Walk This Way”, que dispensa apresentações.

Em resumo, pode dizer-se que os Aerosmith, de espalhafato em espalhafato lá chegaram ao espalhafato final naquele que foi um grande concerto mas que esteve, ainda assim, um pouco longe de ser um dos maiores espectáculos de rock alguma vez vistos.

🌳 After savouring the views from the peak, commence a scenic descent passing through Birk Side, Comb Crags, and a verdant woodland before returning to your starting point. 🌲

🥾 The Browncove Crags and Helvellyn walk in the Lake District

🧗 As we descend, Harrop Tarn can be seen on the far side of Thirlmere. The tarn is situated within a corrie (a bowl-shaped valley) above the south-west side of the reservoir. It is a classic example of a glacial tarn formed as a result of glacial erosion during the last ice age.
