I know we all have our own opinions on P.A. Works throwing this line into the ending of the final episode:

BUT!! The English dub is now out.

In the English dub, Miri says this phrase a little differently. She says that Kazuki “went out drinking with the ladies.”

This sounds a lot less like a pathetically belated attempt at no homo and a lot more like saying the ladies are his friend group, which would make sense, seeing how Kazuki immediately made friends with the daycare moms back when Miri was little.

It’s a small change, and honestly could just have been a logistical (mouth flap) choice, but it blends in with their prologue far better than the original phrase in Japanese had done. It’s even more open-ended to the nature of his and Rei’s relationship than the original, which I think is a smart choice, given how many potentially queer categories they can fall under when no label is given.

The English dub for this show has been a delight from start to finish, really, so this was the perfect way to end the series, imo. I’m gonna miss them. 🥲

Anyway, Kazuki is such a maniac at the height of that attack in the mansion. It's hilarious. He was just like, "YEAH, YEAH. SPEED IT! RAM THAT GUY! GONNA SWERVE UNTIL MY HEAD SPINS! GONNA DRIVE THIS CAR SO WILD EVEN IF IT KILLS ME!" At the same time, it gives me the impression that he's going all out knowing that could have been his last day and he doesn't want to die with regrets and now I'm sad.
