#but why haven't we gotten long-form lore yet?
Text
So Kieran DOES get pissed if you send out Ogerpon against him, also holy fuck was that fight close, anyway big BIG spoilers from this point on
...
The setup of assembling a party for a quick expedition into Area Zero is pretty cool, and the Underdepths are sick af. Having Kieran and Briar recklessly push Terapagos to unleash its full power was an interesting spin to put on things, and it was cool how the final round went from you and Carmine to just you to you and Kieran.
That being said...I kinda think I hyped it up in my head a little too much, because I was expecting a little more? Maybe there's some additional lore I just haven't come across yet, but we still know nothing at all about Terapagos, which I can't help but feel is unsatisfying. Plus, I uh...thought Terapagos would be bigger? The form that was first revealed is about the same size as its cute and marketable form, and I was expecting its final form to be WAY bigger. I dunno man. I've got to sit on this one a bit.
As for Kieran's arc, taken as a whole, it's definitely a solid foundation, but I think it needed more room to breathe. He says "I looked up to you for so long", but my guy, we knew each other for like. One day before you snapped. I guess I feel pretty neutral on him overall? Erring on the side of positive.
The base game really set a high bar for story and characters. I think that, while that story started out personal and then naturally tied into something larger scale, and they were sort of going for something similar here, following the main story and calling the DLC "The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero" made me go in thinking larger scale, and the personal stories fell a bit flat as a result.
And this was all followed up by going back to Uva Academy for an additional scene with the Team Star Bosses, reminding me why I enjoy them so much. Just can't escape the comparison...
I did a few other miscellaneous things before stopping for the night. Miraidon's free flight is SUPER cool; I've gotten a few Legendary treats from Snacksworth (terrible name, and what's with his FACE); and I finally saved up enough BP to upgrade 1 biome, in this case Polar. (For some reason half the Fire starters are there??) Still looking for Cyndaquil and Torchic, though...

Ninjago S16 Finale Thoughts [SPOILERS]
There is so much [SPOILERS] going and if I don't [SPOILERS] I'm gonna [SPOILERS] lose my [SPOILERS] mind.
Turn away now, ye who have yet to witness this epic conclusion. (this is going to be very long)
I was those little runts in Australia who had to stay awake til 2am trying to watch the whole thing with bad wifi, so I had the benefit of coming back later with more coherent thoughts.
And I thought... as cheesy as the ending was, despite being underwhelmed by it, I thought the ending was great. I've always told myself that even if we don't get a tear-jerking ending where someone dies, the bare minimum creators can do is wrap up a show with a nice little bow and say "Yes, they went through hardships but they made it out! Hooray!!!"
Ninjago fell into the latter category.
It's also noteworthy to keep in mind that this show is, and always was, aimed at children, and yeah most of us probably don't fit that definition anymore, rip.
For the most part, I thought they handled the show pretty well. Part 1 was significantly funnier than Part 2, as should be expected. There were great callbacks that both tied the season back to the earlier established lore (I mean, the Great Devourer being influenced by the Overlord to bite Garmadon all to find the perfect body that can successfully rip the very power of Creation into shreds? I won't say I haven't theorised that for YEARS but 👀 it's nice to have it confirmed) and just gave us content that we were dying for. As a Kailor fan, episodes 25-26 blessed me. Pixane was delicious. Lloyd and Garmadon fighting together was fan-fucking-tastic. Even minor details like "Wait, I thought combining the Golden Weapons together would be bad because they would explode" was enough for me.
New concepts were great as well! I loved the Dragon Forms, my heart was literally bursting trying to gobble up all that is brightly-coloured and dragon-themed. And *sighs happily* definitely reminiscent of the final battle in Avengers: Endgame. They weren't fucking lying when they made that poster, huh
All in all, if I went back to tell my 11yo self what I had just seen, she would laugh then scream then cry with disbelief. Because the show has gone above and beyond anything I had expected, and deep down, 11yo me was satisfied what she'd gotten.
But like any good piece of media, and because I'm just Old, there were things that obviously turned me off, or found a little unbelievable.
The death fake-outs -- there were. so many. You can never have enough angst but too many fake deaths just make you desensitised, and the deaths themselves don't feel that emotionally impactful anymore. I mean, sure, we had the purest Pixane moments in the show from when Zane was out of commission again (the fact that I have to say 'again' says it all) but like... Zane's just used as a cheap bargaining tool for sadness, so uh. Yeah.
Oni Lloyd -- I have never been so sad in all my life until that happened. Everything leading up to Oni Lloyd I thought was Great -- it ties back to S11 where Lloyd looks into that reverse-Mirror of Erised and fears he'll become Lord Garmadon. Having to embrace that darkness is Never an easy thing and seeing what had happened to others around him will effectively build that fear. Which would make it all the more worthwhile if Oni Lloyd could have held his own for a little longer in the episode. It felt... disappointing, honestly. They hyped up Oni Lloyd but it didn't even last for a minute. I would have accepted Lloyd looking at his reflection, getting terrified but also being so overcome with rage because the Overlord was a bastard for ever touching his family, roar angri oni sound effects. (Also damn, when Lloyd screams after he transforms?? Chilling, and I mean that positively). I just think it was so underutilised; where the Dragon Forms succeeded, Oni Lloyd falls flat
Why is Lloyd being a dick? -- It is a genuine question. I get it -- Lloyd doesn't trust Garmadon because Garmadon is so intent on conquering the world and switches allegiances super quickly and barely spares a moment to check in on Lloyd, but...hadn't Lloyd made peace with him years ago? All the way back in S5, even. They separated on good, if not heartbreaking terms. Lloyd wasn't like this in S8, but it's almost like. the show was trying to give him the arc that Movie-Lloyd had -- he acts like Garmadon is a deadbeat dad (okay he was chilling with Vinny because he wanted to Find Himself but-), doesn't give a shit about him (he was Learning Empathy-) and cares for nothing except Destruction™ (he was bit by an evil snake.) My point is, Lloyd made with peace Garmadon; there's literally no reason for him to hate him that much
The Utter Lack Of Consequences -- now this is really where the whole "Ninjago is made for kids" point really kicks in. I will say this, in bold and italics and capital letters: NINJAGO IS MADE FOR KIDS, BUT IT DOESN'T MEAN AUDIENCES NEED TO BE KIDS TO ENJOY THE SHOW. Hope you got that -- in other words, I, an old person, found the ending to be cheesy as fuck, and kind of abrupt. I thought someone was going to die. I thought that the Ninja were going to lose their memories (Cole's "What did I do?" to Vangelis, Kai's "Now what was I doing?" re. Aspheera, etc; would've been an interesting twist). I thought the Oni and Dragon Forms were a permanent, lasting change. I thought the Ninja were literally going to become the Golden Ultra Dragon. I thought that actions having consequences would be something this season would be heavily focusing on. Part 1 made that clear, but I guess the power of friendship and love can really overpower death itself. Literally no one gets hurt. I find that Highly Unbelievable, especially since the finale is on par with Endgame! But it's a kid's show, the target audience are kids, and Ninjago has always been playing the safe game; while kids grow up to be like me, there's always an influx of new watchers who are just small, impressionable children. I'm not mad at them for it, but it still feels pretty abrupt. Like, everything is Cool Now, Everyone Is Getting Along. Mkay. But we get Garmadon monologuing about generational trauma and growth, so there's that
Ayo where is the Elemental Alliance? -- I swear they were here, where did they go? I miss my boys Griffin and Shade :'(
Oh, and just because I'm spiteful-
Get Lloyrumi away from me -- I'm sorry, but Harumi has proved herself time and again that she is a manipulative, cunning little backstabber. I was getting real uncomfortable when it seemed like the show was pushing us towards a Lloyrumi ending -- and yet, even after everything, Lloyd was giving her the time of day when he was flat-out ignoring his own father who had Clearly gone through Villain Rehab?? I can allow a siblinghood to form, just barely, but an actual relationship is too much. That being said, the plot-twist redemption was... kind of expected, but not in the way I thought it would unfold. I was expecting it to be some cheesy 'love conquers all' kind of thing, but- yeah, I don't know. It was an Oh shit moment, so..
Alright, now that's All of my grievances towards the ending. It's not much, they're just things that bug me on a weirdly technical level, but if I were to ignore them, the finale is still a 10/10. Maybe a 9.85/10 for the abrupt ending, but other than that I loved it to BITS. I adore it. I love what they have given us, and in my book? It did the bare minimum -- it gave a satisfactory ending to a storyline eleven years in the making.
I can't believe it myself.
I know most of you might find my nitpicking a little too much, but this is just what I felt. I was never a Day One fan, but I've been in this fandom for nearly half my life, so it's a huge part of me. Despite its hiccups and strange moments, I am thankful for all that Ninjago has done. I probably wouldn't be a third of the person I am today if it weren't for this silly little show about silly little ninja men. I have no idea where the new series will go, but it won't have to struggle to find its footing, I hope. We might get something by the end of the year, but no high hopes yet; I just wish it'll carry on the legacy of this show and burst with its own light, colour and fun.
So, thank you for reading. And remember...

Please tell us about your demaverse hc's??? We're going to get news on our host's mom's condition today, and we need something to keep him distracted from the bad news that's probably going to come of it... (Plus, there are lots of twenty one pilots fictives who I think would love to hear about it -James of the Storyboard Collective
I hope things get well for you guys and your hosts mom! I had some health stuff affect a family member not to long ago and we're still in the midst of dealing with the changes its brought. Just know your strong and will overcome what life throws at you. And thank you for letting me ramble about my little Dema/TOP fixation, I don't have anyone outside the internet to talk to about my love of this band lol. This is gunna be a tad long, and I still didn't put all the headcanons and AUs I have.
Its hard putting all my thoughts/headcanons/AUs or whatever you want to call them into words, so apologies in advance for any incoherent ramblings! Im also typing this out between breaks at work so that's also why it took so long to respond. I'm sure they aren't 100% original as a lot of my worldbuilding of this story comes from theories and AUs I've read and just took bits and pieces from so if you see something here that looks familiar to someone elses just know I don't claim these as completely original thoughts.
-I'll start with my favorite AU headcanon, which is that I think the world of Trench came to be via some sort of apocalyptic tradegy that befell the world. Possibly wiped out a massive chunk of the human population, led to the development of a walled off city(Dema), and is used as an excuse by the bishops(who I believe possibly manifested from this horrible tragedy) to enact an authoritarian type control over the city to prevent anyone from leaving. It explains why its not common for escapes to happen because everyone is conditioned to believe the world outside of Dema is uninhabitable.
I like to think the first Banditos were possibly a group of people who didn't fall for the lie that Dema was a safe haven and chose to stay in the wilderness of Trench where they chose to take in those who successfully escaped from Dema. Over time the majority of people who make up the Banditos are Dema escapees who made their goal be to saving everyone from the city.
Its also ties in the gas masks we see from Lane Boy. Whatever cause the end to happen, probably required gas masks. Possibly a nuclear war of sorts.
-On the topic of the Bishops. I don't know whether they are canonically human or semi human or what have you, but I headcanon them as non-human. Maybe some form of demon, idk, I haven't gotten that specific, all I know as I can't see them as human. I know in terms of themes they're supposed to be manifestations of mental illness, mostly depression and anxiety, but in terms of lore, I expanded on that concept and made it a part of their characters rather than just a metaphor. They feed off of misery/suffering, so things like vialism is a perfect way for them to feed. Its why their so adamant on keeping everyone in the city. Its easier to manipulate a certain amount of people in a small confined space. I have more about this using The Outside music video but it take up this entire ask if I went into more detail here.
- I see Blurryface as both a part of the bishops and their own separate being. The best comparison is that of the Holy Trinity in Christianity. God makes up The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit, yet all figures can be viewed as separate entities. All the circles of the Blurryface album(i.e, Blurry's face) are the representations of the Bishops. I know a lot of people now equate Blurry with Nico due to the song Stressed Out being Nicos song and the song that formally introduced us to Blurry, but I got so used to seeing Blurry as separate from the bishops that I can't possibly view Nico and Blurry as 100% the same. A lot of my Blurry headcanons go out the window if Nico and Blurry are just one being. It also completely negates the other bishops from the picture too. I just think Nico is more responsible for the creation of Blurryface rather than IS Blurryface. Plus the Holy Trinity comparison goes well with TOPs tendency to use Christian themes in their music.
I got a few more if you or anyone is interested, Im still at work so Ill have to do it on a day I have off.

Short-Form lore for Xayah and Rakan’s out
Rakan:
As mercurial as he is charming, Rakan is an infamous vastayan troublemaker and the greatest battle-dancer in Lhotlan tribal history. To the humans of the Ionian highlands, his name has long been synonymous with wild festivals, uncontrollable parties, and anarchic music. Few would suspect this energetic, traveling showman is also partner to the rebel Xayah, and is dedicated to her cause.
“I got freedom. I got a lady. I got a cause I'd die for.”
Xayah:
Deadly and precise, Xayah is a vastayan revolutionary waging a personal war to save her people. She uses her speed, guile, and razor-sharp feather blades to cut down anyone who stands in her way. Xayah fights alongside her partner and lover, Rakan, to protect their dwindling tribe, and restore their race to her vision of its former glory

I'm screaming,,please talk more about aftoncest!! When you mentioned fnaf and shipping, I thought you were talking about Gregory and glamrock freddy
AHAH, i have seen gregory and glamrock freddy around (which looks very 👀👀👀 might i add), but I haven't gotten onto security breach quite yet.
Yes, it's true, the ship i was vagueposting about was aftoncest! I figured it was time i got back into fnaf (the last time i was "into" the series was... oof, 2016 probably?) so i looked up a lore guide. I knew afton was the child killer at this point due to osmosis and occasionally hearing something, but I wasn't aware he had kids! (I remembered the crying child from fnaf 4- and very very vaguely knew about the girl from sister location). I saw Michael's sprite and was like "oh hey, he seems like the oldest- Michael, huh, wonder how he fits i-" and then it went "the Mike Schmidt who's the protagonist of fnaf1" and I was like he's THAT MIKE????
I was curious to see if he had any voice lines so i looked it up, found a video on the SL cutscene(?), played it, and immediately heard,
"father."
...
And yup, that did it for me, I was 100% sold. I already figured Michael and William probably had a twisted relationship (i mean it's the fucking purple guy and his son akdhajdhaj *wheeze* how could they not) but then I read more of the lore and wow. WOOOW. These two uh- they have... well they have a relationship-
It's really interesting to me! I mean, from what I remember of michael in fnaf 4, the kid was kind of a bully (RIP crying child lmao)- even if I'm sure he didn't actually mean to ever hurt Evan. It makes me wonder, what kind of a parent Afton was to his children- was he so absent that this behaviour went unchecked for so long? Did Michael just think that it was okay- that teasing and bullying was a natural part of showing affection (just think about those implications for a second oh no-). Maybe Michael took the brunt of all his father's bs, and that's why he lashed out at Evan, in the form of pranks and teasing (even if it crossed the line)- maybe on some level he hated how free Evan got to be, he still got to be a crying child, blissfully ignorant, whereas Michael was more grown up, was less illusioned to the reality of what went on inside their house- not to project or anything, but as the eldest lemme tell ya, we absolutely get the brunt of any issues with our parents. Maybe Michael wants his father's love and attention, but also sees the truth behind who is father is (even without the child murdering ajdgsjdhsjdhsj)- which makes their relationship delightfully complicated.
Michael becoming an adult makes it even more interesting. Michael still clearly respected William enough to do what he said without question seeing as, well, not just anyone will do you a favour and go put your dead daughter/their sister "back together", endangering and dying themself in the process. It makes me wonder about how close they must have grown. How the absense of Michael's mother, Elizabeth and Evan must have affected their relationship, how it might have twisted from already unhealthy to codependent. Michael suddenly overlooking all his father's flaws and mistreatment out of guilt and desperation to keep him around. William growing obsessively attached to the only person he has left. I feel like William is attached to Michael, too- he's the only person he trusts, and, well, when someone is willing to do almost anything for you, you're going to feel fondness for them (as twisted as it may be). I like to think of it as a really fucked up lowkey servent and master dynamic- Michael is William's favourite little tool, whom he can use and abuse but is strong enough not to break under it (until he does- but its fine, because he can always pick up the pieces.)
(He's good at that. Breaking things and putting them back together.)
Just hnghfnfhfnfhdhd these two! Ah! They're basically the protagonist and antagonist of the series, and you know i love me some hero/villain ships sometimes. Its so delicious, you get to add a whole extra topping of manipulation and inseparability and obsession and all kinds of spice to the mix with this ship! The familial ties making it so that they'll always be connected to one another, the attachment, the history! *mwah*, brilliant, 10/10.

Things I've realized
1.I officially learned the setting of Weapons Drawn. From what we can tell, it definitely takes place before the modern day from the overall aesthetic. In the final background, if you look at everything on the desk, you can see everything is from the 1970's (thank you Google for helping me figure out what decade the camera came from)
2.Theory:Narrator is somehow related to [Redacted] and his family due to having a lot of parallels to the darkness being able to complete cut out electricity (during the murder time in wd and when the elevator glitches in tmp2) and obviously connected to murder.
3.[Redacted] would realistically not be able to get any police evidence in the tmp2 intro sequence without having some form of connections with the police force and considering you can't get in as a police member with an MFA in writing (presumably), he's probably getting the evidence from a police friend or potentially a family member
4.Why does the quips EAT the points? This could be interpreted as pets getting a treats or worse
5.There's probably a lore reason why we have the 8 colors for the players (9 if you include the audience) and we haven't figured it out yet(and it drives me insane)
6.We all need to know whether or not [Redacted] has gotten those French tipped nails or not.(also I guarantee they're pointy shaped if he did)
^
Yay! More stuff to discuss!
I've seen a couple people theorize that the games take place during different time periods. It's super cool, but I feel like no one has been able to make a concrete timeline yet.
OOOOOoooo, more members of the murderous family tree~? I LOVE this idea! Looks like this family has been killing groups for a long time!
Hmmm, interesting idea~. [REDACTED] definitely has some friends in high places, whether they're in the police or some other authority.
Good question. I never stopped to question Quip biology before. Points could be treats for the little guys.
Well, you don't want to use the same color twice in the same batch. You want to use all the colors! If there was a duplicate color while one was missing, it would drive me mad!
He probably does his nails in all sorts of styles. He's so pretty~
