I'm watching feed and the dynamic between Matt and Olivia is very strange to me. Like it seems more romantic than like siblings. Maybe it's my own heteronormative toxic tendencies, but it's just the way they interact seems so strange for a sibling dynamic. The way he touches her, the way he freaked out when he walked in on her and Julian; it seemed more like a jealous boyfriend than a protective brother. Idk I'm loving the movie it's just this one part that creeps me out ya know

No, you know, I know what you mean. I noticed that dynamic too and I felt uncomfortable in a few scenes too. The way I see it, like I find most of the stuff before he dies is totally normal. Like I can’t imagine what my brothers would have done if they walked in on me with someone when I was 17 lol it wouldn’t have been good

But after, when we see him as a personification, it definitely gets creepy in a lot of ways and honestly I think that was intentional. To show how manipulative and abusive and creepy it can be, but also how charming and loving and caring it can be too. Like when she does good on a test, she credits Matt for helping her, but at the same time, if she doesn’t do what he asks, he could take that away from her in a heartbeat, you know what I mean? So I think that element was meant to be in there a bit.

I know there’s a scene with Olivia and Casey that made me really confused too and part of me wonders if Casey was meant to be a bit of a personification too, but I’m really not sure about that bit. 

I know one thing Troian really wanted to make clear was the connection between person and mental illness, between that voice in your head, so I think that’s where a lot of it comes from
