Solidarity to the Canadian women’s soccer team who may be losing right now but are playing under immense pressure from the ongoing compensation negotiations with Canadian Soccer Association in their fight for equal pay and representation as compared to our (lower ranked and less successful) men’s team. To the point where players were forced to choose between prize money allocations for this current tournament going to their own pay, or straight to funding training camps.
Devastating to watch this game knowing that it will only fuel the flames against their cause. Already seeing tweets (from men) about the women’s team not deserving the equity they are fighting for due to this performance. May I remind those people that the men’s team also did not advance from group stage, and in fact lost all three games. Also, the men’s team received far more promotion and support from Canada Soccer for their 2022 World Cup appearance than the women’s team did for their 2020 gold medal Olympics performance.
Women’s soccer is huge, just look at the sold out stadiums in Australia right now. The CANWNT have an impressive legacy. They deserve to be compensated and promoted equally, regardless of result in this tournament.
So heartbroken for this team. They deserve so much more. Canada Soccer has the money to sue the players but not support them. It’s so disappointing. I stand behind all the players and hope they are given everything they deserve and more!
Does anyone know any Cloe Lacasse fan fiction, can be of any subject matter, (ie. smut, mental health, fluff, angst, etc.).
Also if anyone would be willing to write one I'd be really thankful.

The simple answer is to not suck. Canada Soccer has acknowledged that the only thing that kept them afloat during the main lockdowns from Covid-19 was residual income from the 2015 Women's World Cup. It's to find the funding to not only fund their women's team but PAY them, they have worked for the past year if not longer without proper payment and that is just absurd. I want them to maybe take just a peak over at what their colleagues managing their women's hockey program are doing and provided the same to them, and what those women got was from their own work negotiating and gaining the right to their likeness. And you know what maybe Canada Soccer shouldn't be the only association held responsible, Canada Soccer's sponsors could be making a larger statement, much like how Tim Hortons did for the Hockey program when the men were going to absolute shit, they said you know what until you can get that sorted give the money to the team that has earned it the women and its worked out so far. Canada women's hockey has performed phenomenally this past year and I a hundred percent expect that to continue, having that extra funding and a contract that protects retroactively 28 players, a contract that provided health savings accounts, and childcare assistance showed their athletes that they have support and that's something Canada Soccer isn't providing. Trust me I understand that the economy is hard right now but I promise you if Canada wanted to find the funding for their women's team they would.
