the bar celeste liked to drag you to was usually civil

it's was mostly older men who came to gamble and drink

totally something you would expect from celeste

because of the more mature audience, you never really witnessed any fights in this particular bar

in fact, it was the one bar in this town that actually provided stress relief

so one day, when you heard yelling, it was very confusing

turns out, a frat had come in thinking this was the kind of bar for the younger audiences who tend to get more rowdy

they had gotten to loud while drinking, and an employee had to ask them to quiet down

you were in the middle of a game of poker with celeste and a few other adults when the first punch was thrown

all heads turned toward the frat boys, who were now arguing with each other

the poor employees stood by not knowing what to do, no one ever fought in this bar

you looked over to celeste to see her sighing and tapping her fingers on the table impatiently

you wanted to get rid of this disruption for her so you could keep playing

so you stood up, walked calmly over to one of the boys, and rested your hand on his shoulder

"hey, guys, let's settle down, yeah? i think you all should leave now."

this only set them off even more

they were all clearly drunk off their asses, so you weren't surprised that when one of them swung at you, he lost his balance

"come on guys, is this really how you want this night to go?"

you had to pretend to be annoyed, of course, but a smirk was tugging at the corner of your lips

after the humiliation the guy suffered from missing his shot at you, you thought he would walk away, but he wasn't done

this time he charged at you with his whole body, which was a dumb idea considering how easy it was for you to just take him by the shoulders and slam him onto the ground

apparently he was too drunk to get up, so his buddies started coming at his defense

one by one, you gave them all the same bloody treatment, and when it was all over, simply walked back over to your empty seat and sat back down

"let's get back to it, guys."

she hid it with her fan, but celeste was clearly blushing

as much as she likes to keep a poker face, watching you take down those lame frat guys made her feel something she couldn't hide

when she was finally able to calm herself down, she put the tip of her finger under your chin, looking down at you with flirty eyes and a sly smile

"thank you for dealing with that mess, dear. it was incredibly irritating."

you know how rowdy ibuki can get, it was bound to ruffle a few feathers

one time at a bar, she got a little too rambunctious and ended up knocking someone over, spilling food and alcohol all over his expensive jacket

he reached for her collar, screaming profanities at her, but before he could even lay a finger on her you were already between them

"bad idea, man," you pressed your hand to his chest

"that bitch just ruined my fucking jacket! you know how long it took me to save up for this thing?"

"you didn't even give her a chance to apologize!"you yelled back, but it was no use, he was drunk and angry

he called out some name, and a bigger guy appeared seemingly out of nowhere

after that, a few other guys noticed the ruckus and came to watch

with a sigh, you shove the guy away from ibuki, who at this point was starting to fear you getting hurt

"Uh, haha, let's just go, s/o..." She laughed awkwardly, but this guy was not done with you

you barely turned around in time to see him throw a punch

fortunately it just grazed your cheek

you retaliate by grabbing his arm and twisting it until he begged you to let go

a smile appeared on your face when he ran to hide behind his bigger friend

but now, he was yelling at his companion to go after you

"aw, geez, this is gonna get annoying..."

you vaguely hear ibuki shouting at you, but this time it sounds more like encouragement

you swear you heard her say "beat his ass!"

before you knew it the big guy was charging you

all you had to do was simply dodge, though, he might have been big but he seemed really stupid

instead of running into you, he ran into some other dude behind you, who then joined the fight

you felt someone behind you grab your collar

soon enough, that guy was on the ground with your elbow digging into his chest

by the time you were done, glass had been shattered, tables were broken, everything was wet with soggy food and drinks, even a little bit of blood

ibuki grabbed you by the arm and dragged you out of the bar just as you started hearing police sirens

once in the safe comfort of your own home is when she started yelling again

"s/o that was so cool! i mean i was totally scared but you really showed them didn't you?? but don't ever do that again it was sooo scary" she heaved, dramatically waving her hands around in the air

to shut her up, you pulled her into a hug

she took a whiff of you. you smelled like alcohol and sweat, but it didn't matter to her

"you're a goof," she giggled, pressing a kiss to your cheek

you had finally convinced mikan to leave her comfort zone and take a trip to the bar with you

a couple drinks seemed to loosen her up, and she was actually enjoying herself by the end of the night

but, all good things have to come to an end

you heard the table next to you getting heated all night, but you thought it was just friendly squabble

but then, one of those "friends" tried to slap the other, but while he was winding his arm back he smacked mikan in the head

she squealed, covering her head with her hands and sinking down in her seat

the second you saw her fearful eyes looking up at you, you were it of your seat

you jumped over the booth, grabbing a fistful of his shirt

"who the fuck are you? get off me!" He yelled, raising his fist

mikan was fully sobbing at this point, begging the man not to hurt you

you watched her stand up and grab his arm, but he shook her off so hard she fell back on the ground

this was your last straw

before he could see it coming, you threw a punch to his jaw, leaving a stinging sensation in your knuckles

with a grunt, you shoved him to the ground and turned around to find one of his friends tugging at your pant leg

of course his buddies had to come to his rescue

you delivered a swift kick to his gut, and he was out of commission

the rest of his friends tried to get their way to you, but couldn't even lay a hand on you before you took them down

after you finished off the last one, you picked mikan up off the ground

she was hysterical now, and didn't even recognize that it was you holding her

you carried her in your arms all the way home, where she finally began to settle down

"i'm so sorry, i shouldn't have been so persistent about going with me, it's not your scene" you apologized to her after laying her on the couch

she opened her eyes, sniffling

"please don't ever do that again" she cried, clutching onto your shirt

Idk if it's the most but I do love Fuyuhiko and Himiko's "everyone I love died" character arcs. I'd say Kyoko or Hajime have the MOST development tho. Kyoko got a whole fucking spin-off and Hajime just has... so much going on. It's kind of ironic because I feel like in the opposite direction Izuru gets like... no development.

Junko ig? We don't really see the characters in much outside of their uniforms and their swimsuits that one time.

Like just pure natural strength? Gonta. Out of the buff characters, I think he could take Sakura and Nekomaru. The issue is he wouldn't want to fight. Sakura might take the upper hand since she actually has martial arts training.

Question: What motivated you to even begin doing all this, all the Hope Universe?

(人◕ω◕) Interesting question. Well I suppose it really boils down to three things really. @wesst1 story "Everyday life with ultimate girls" which you can find here. @pyropsychiccollector story "Danganronpa: Another IF" which you can find here

And the fact that generally speaking, Makoto is not only the most unpopular main character but also he is the only one that actually inspires me. Right. So Why did I bring up Wesst1 and pyro? Well because both of them helped me get into exploring Makoto with others. See, I used to be a bog standard Naegiri & Naekusaba fan. Didn't really think much of shipping the egg with others. But reading Danganronpa: Another IF by @pyropsychiccollector really sold me on NaeCeles around Chapter 3 and Naezono throughout the story From there I became obsessed with other types of shipping and pyro will tell you I quickly reached out to him and well here we are XP But in the early days we were also talking about NaeChisa when there were like 1-3 images out there on the entire internet. And yeah...I quickly fell down the rabbit hole. NaeHina, Naekawa, NaeJunko, Naezono and after reading @wesst1 story, my mind blew wide open. The way he set it up by having Makoto interact with OTHER Girls from GD and V3....Yeah man that shit was revolutionary. Suddenly I had a reference point to expand beyond my initial Class 78 girls with the egg. From here on, I just wanted to explore shipping Makoto with others. Sonia, Akane, Mikan, Ibuki (@pyropsychiccollector she's still an agent of chaos), Miu, Kaede, Angie, Tenko, etc And well funnily enough I started getting into Koikatsu around this time. Same program I use for all my 3D stuff. See, on a site called Pixiv there was this guy called Demco. He made all the main series characters sans Ruruka and Seiko. But there was a rub. He was SUPER paranoid? Controlling? XDDD @notpistol knows what I'm talking about. He basically had this rule where you couldn't share his danganronpa characters at all or he'll private everything and you wouldn't get access to future updates of a character as he improved the designs. Several times though they would get leaked and he eventually went nuclear and just stopped making cards and took down all his links. Around this time I had to quite literally look at pictures he would still post and figure out the new changes and looks and replicate it myself (with limited success). So Demco became this new....goal or rival to beat XDDD I would tell @pyropsychiccollector about Demco's madness but brilliance and my desire to succeed him.

So I practiced and developed my skills. Not long after I began making my own characters Demco never made like Miaya and the Student Council~ Those were my first ever characters I made that nobody did. @notpistol also started making the spin-off/LN/Manga characters like Sayaka's idol group or Yui and Hiroko! So between the two of us and I forgot to add but there was a lad who made Seiko and Ruruka and did a GOD tier job with the early designs. Also, someone made Danganronpa Another cards but they....weren't that good XDDD. But yeah between me and @notpistol we basically started making every danganronpa character that had an image. I think though what made me really make the Hope universe was....okay. I finally became a solid creator. I could replicate/improve upon Demco's cards and I made new characters. But there wasn't a grand plan or anything. I was just using them for shipping stuff and my goal at the time was to show Makoto x <Insert Girl> art and family stuff.

A NaeAngie family picture or Makoto with Tsumugi and their child or NaeCeles Family or Naekawa wedding. Stuff like that. My earliest Koikatsu work was in fact Makoto x Chisa and soon after Makoto x Celeste and Makoto x Junko. You seen the kids and stuff. However once I saw DRA1 and SDRA2 I decided.....I can make all of this work. XDDDD I became unapologetically greedy and decided to make a huge harem and @wesst1 already showed me it can be done! So I decided to incorporate fangan stuff but I didn't have an overall plan or story or anything. it was more or less "Hey I'm a huge Makoto harem shipper, here's this big family" But as I decided to add more characters and what not, I began figuring out who goes where. And creating the initial groundwork for classes. It wasn't until the brilliant @putaindeplagieur contacted me and made this kickass Excel spreadsheet listing all the classes, who teaches the classes and yeah we worked together for months and I pitched him the idea of opening up multiple schools and we (Mostly him) organized that shit! XDDDDD Which led to the Hope Universe we have. I wanted a corner of the internet where we get some wholesome fluff and family stuff with the egg. No deaths, no murder porn, none of that stuff. And I needed it because life fucking sucks here in America especially as a minority so it became this outlet for me. In my single-minded devotion to this project, I created something special with the help of @putaindeplagieur, @pyropsychiccollector and @notpistol Eventually though as of late last year I wanted to add some story to all of this. Me and @pyropsychiccollector have been spitballing idea's for skits and stuff and yeah. Laughing Man Saga for the family 15 years post Class 78 Graduation and I'm hard at work for the Kamukura/Tragedy story while they're at Hope's Peak.

Bit of a long read and stuff but yeah...I started this all not just to make makoto shippers happy and stuff but because It's therapeutic for me and maybe a few others. I know @makoto-naegi-stud-and-friends has also been making some Naegi centered stuff! I guess also another big part of WHY I made the hope universe is to give characters a better life. Junko is doing much better, Kanade, Ruruka, Seiko, Natsumi, Kotoko, Tsumugi, etc. I just wanted to take all these characters and put them in a better world (not a perfect one) free from all that despair and stuff. Real life is already fuckin miserable here with constant mass shootings, the far right losing their minds over LGBTQIA stuff and corporations turning America into Neo-Feudalism slowly over time. What do I gain from seeing so much darkness in DRA1/SDRA2? And yeah I also wanted to have characters from these fangans get a chance to be happy and stuff since projects either get canceled or we run into the initial dilemma of so much dark and depressing shit.

Dunno. For me at least, I need fluff since I'm always exposed to so much despair in real life. XDDD And I hope you all enjoy the stuff I do~

Celeste finds Ibuki annoying, but she also can't help but find her fascinating.

Their relationship would be the equivalent of the meme: "Somebody is going to die..." "...of fun!"

Ibuki is very supportive of Celeste.

Celeste may find Ibuki to be an annoyance, but she slowly starts to realize that she's an annoyance she can't seem to live without.

Ibuki enjoys betting games with Celeste, even though she is terrible at it.

So a friend and I started with a small premise that I hadn't seen covered in any fanfics, and it quickly exploded into this big AU. And I just feel the need to share it. The premise was "What if Ryota didn't escape and get Chisa's help after Nagito got shot". And it ended up becoming a Civil War AU.

See it starts with the premise of Junko subjecting Chiaki to the brainwashing procedure, who then in turn helps put Nagito through it (the memory of her restraining his wounded body haunts them both after rehabilitation). And they along with Mikan go back to Class 77 to make sure everyone thinks things are okay, while Junko reconditions Ryota.

Except...there's a snag. Peko's injuries from her fight with Mukuro, combined with Nagito seemingly no longer being concerned with the Ultimate Soldier, makes Peko and Fuyuhiko think "Something screwy is going on here". And it leads to a schism when Chiaki tries swaying the class to go along with her (into a trap).

On one side are Fyuyhiko, Peko, and Chisa, who are joined by the suspicious Imposter, Hiyoko, and Gundham. Who also manage to sway Ibuki and (just barely Kazuichi). Meanwhile Chiaki manages to win over Sonia, Nekomaru, Akane, and Teruteru through their faith in her. And with a bit of pressure from Mikan they convince Mahiru to go along with them. Exploiting the suspicion that Fuyuhiko was responsible for Sato's murder.

So the AU is heading towards a Tragedy with half of Class 77 brainwashed, and the others trying to capture and save them. With a lot more high emotions this time, especially in regards to Imposter with Ryota and Mikan, as well as the four Twilight Syndrome girls (Hiyoko and Mahiru most of all)...But then we went even more off the rails with the idea that Chiaki thinks to herself "Wouldn't it be so despairing if after all of this, the mastermind was killed by their own thralls before she got to see the fruits of her work?"

Which leads to Chiaki conspiring a coup de tat of Ultimate Despair, and convincing Izuru to side with her. Making incapacitating Mukuro and killing Junko trivial. With Chiaki deciding that actually it'd be far more fun to make Junko's class like the rest of them than go through all that Killing Game silliness. Leading to them going after members of Class 78 to make into more Ultimate Despairs.

Mukuro manages to escape and forms a VERY uneasy alliance with Team Chisa. Peko and Fuyuhiko making it clear that they consider her responsible for what's happened to their classmates, and that they won't hesitate to slaughter her if she gives them one reason.

In the end on Team Chiaki's side we have Chiaki herself, Nagito, Mikan, Ryota, Sonia, Mahiru, Nekomaru, Akane, and Teruteru from Class 77. And Makoto, Kyoko, Sakura, Aoi, Taka, Chihiro, Leon, and Toko joining them from Class 78. Meanwhile on Team Chisa we have Chisa herself, Fuyuhiko, Peko, Imposter, Hiyoko, Gundham, Ibuki, and Kazuichi. And Mukuro, Byakuya, Sayaka, Mondo, Celeste, Hifumi, and Yasuhiro joining them from Class 78. With Syo as Team Chisa's double agent within Team Chiaki. With Izuru kind of low-key supporting the Despairs if he feels in the mood for it.

Just imagine all the character interactions that could go on. Fuyuhiko having to deal with the ramifications of his murdering Sato outside of the Neo World Program. Imposter working alongside the real Byakuya. A whole lot of angst about people close to them being on the opposing side (Imposter vs Ryota and Mikan, Hiyoko vs Mahiru, Gundham vs Sonia, Mukuro and Sayaka vs Makoto, Mondo vs Taka and Chihiro).

And the shipping! Plenty of Ikuzono potential here, with Sayaka being Mukuro's biggest advocate after everyone else feels betrayed by her. Aoi and Sakura being Despair girlfriends. A very twisted dysfunctional Komanami where Chiaki hurts Nagito and he sometimes hurts her back. Which leads to a whole lot of angst after deprogramming, with both struggling to look each other in the eye. And also...Despair Makoto x Servant/Despair Komaegi!

Is this the same person who started the Vampire Chiaki AU? Because if so, I think I'm getting a sense of your narrative tastes, lol! I love how intricate this is.

The first thing that jumped out to me here was the idea of Despair Mahiru and Non-Despair Hiyoko, mainly because I'm so curious as to whether their friendship could survive that.

Like, if the dust settles and Mahiru eventually isn't despair anymore, Hiyoko's trust was still violated by someone she really cared about, and that's a pretty big deal for her.

Also, Toxic Despair Komanami sounds like it could be very fun. They both like to play games, after all! They would be ruinous. I think I prefer shipping both of them with Non-Despair Makoto than Despair Makoto, but that's because I like to whump the luckster, lol.
