some valjia thoughts because she’s on my mind again:

she will defend kalec against anyone who disputes his right to be the blue dragon aspect, and won’t tolerate anyone talking down to him. very much the vibe of “watch your tongue” and “do not speak down to your aspect”.

she and her broodsister kirygosa have a complicated relationship, and by dragonflight, they haven’t spoken in many years. still, when kalec says he wishes to track kiry down and invite her to the dragon isles, valjia instead just gently rests a hand on his arm and insists on going herself. kiry ends up staying with the new life she’s built for herself, but she and val manage to reconcile and share a moment of happiness together in what has been a lifetime of pain and loss.

many people are intimidated by valjia, not only because she’s a dragon but because she has a fairly cold exterior. she’s inherently mistrustful of outsiders, although deep down is a very sentimental and kind person - time and pain has just shaped her into someone aloof and standoffish. those close to her know better, though.

she and kalec aren’t attached at the hip or inseperable by any means, although where one is you will usually find the other. as his consort, valjia often sits in on important meetings and is privy to everything he is, and he trusts her with the blue flight almost more than he trusts them with himself. as kalec becomes more grounded and sure of himself in his role as aspect, valjia can’t help but feel proud of him and how far he’s come, and will often indulge herself in a small smile of pride when he turns to catch her eye.

valjia struggles to restrain herself when malygos’ essence, his true essence, appears before them. it’s probably the first time in a long time that she’s felt herself laid bare before anyone. val and her father were incredibly close before things fell apart, and she still feels his loss like a freshly-weeping wound even all these years later. afterward his essence has been healed, she flees to the highest peak of the azure span to sit in the flurries of snow and wind and let herself breathe in the frosted air. when she finally returns back down to the archive, kalec is waiting for her with a steaming cup of tea and a kiss on the shoulder.

change, wardrobe, arms, and formal for valjia!

oc asks: character design edition

change: has your oc ever drastically changed their appearance? significant haircuts, big tattoos, complete wardrobe swap, etc? why? how do they feel about the change?

valjia's appearance has been fairly consistent over the years. at some point during her time in dalaran she gets some magic-infused tattoos along her forearms, but that was more out of personal preference than anything.

wardrobe: how big is your character's wardrobe? do they wear things threadbare, or can they afford new clothes often? are they any good at mending and repairing their own clothing?

she has a decent wardrobe, out of both necessity and because she likes the variety. most of her clothes are magically infused, so that they don't get torn to shreds whenever she shifts into her full-blood dragon form.

arms: does your oc have any weapons? what weapons do they carry, and how do they wear them when they're not fighting?

val doesn't really need a weapon, but she does occasionally carry a staff - she picks up the habit when she's in dalaran, because she finds it makes a lot of the mortals more comfortable with her presence. she can cast just fine without it though, and can easily summon the staff away if it's in the way.

formal: what's your oc's formal look? do they like dressing up? do they have different looks for different occasions?

she's always fairly dressed up in all honesty and enjoys putting in the effort. she favours dresses, and will almost always go with something form fitting in white or blue, with some skin showing. in colder climates she'll wear a large fur coat not because she needs to (she doesn't especially feel the cold, being a frost mage), but because she likes the softness. she'll also often wear her hair loose rather than in the braided style she favours for combat situations.
