Okay, I need this 2007 equestrian estate in Colts Neck, New Jersey. It’s about an hour from where I live, now, and it has 7bd. 8.5ba. $24.9M.
Look at the elegant entrance to the living room.
The decor is a little stuffy, but I like the coffered ceiling and the fireplace.
I like the family room better- nice wood ceiling and rosy walls. Plus, it opens to a conservatory.
Pass thru an alcove filled w/liquor bottles, to the barroom.
The conservatory is that beautiful tower that can be seen outside.
Huge formal dining room with a cool ceiling.
Look at the size of the kitchen. I like that windowed cabinet above the island and table.

WIP WEDNESDAY
I'm gonna be alternating Wednesdays with Roseverse and LitMoR, so since last week was a Roseverse preview, here's a preview of the next chapter of YCDHN! Featuring the origins of a joke I have been dying to make for SO LONG.

Plans never survived first contact with the enemy, and that was equally true of victories. People who spent too long celebrating a win rarely lived to see a second one.
The Mighty Nein (ten plus an additional four) gathered in the dining hall of Kindunos Keep, where months ago nearly all of them had murdered an entire tribe worth of people who thought they were stronger than they were. Reminders of small victories were necessary as they prepared to face the biggest one yet- the one for all the marbles.
Lucien was the one who stood up to take point and leadership. This nightmare had been started at the time of his birth- for the purpose of this leg of the journey, they were all going to look to him now and no one complained about it. Not even Molly looked at him skeptically.
A far cry from where they began, but the world was moving on. “They work fast when they want to,” he explained, looking to Beau, hunched over her hand like if she dug her nails into the eye on the back of it, she would tear it from her flesh. “It starts with dreams and then one by one, they’ll start bringin’ you more gifts.” He looked to Tyffial, Otis, and Zoran with their amulets, to Molly with his- eyes downcast and on the table, the reality of being a thrall still too close to the surface for him. “And once you’ve got nine eyes, you’re theirs. There won’t be anything we can do ‘til they’re dead.”
They didn’t have time to get another amulet made. Those things didn’t come cheap and Waccoh had used up every bit of good will and resources she had to make the ones for the other Tombtakers. There was no scenario where they could buy time for a second and wait this out. If they didn’t leave tomorrow, there was going to be Hell to pay for Beau and for all of them.
“The Somnovem are still being fueled by the Chained Oblivion,” he went on. “And all of them are right pissed at us for bein’ a thorn in their drawers.” He folded his arms behind his back. “Always nice when the apocalypse has a personal touch, hm?”
A small, restrained laugh. It had been a long time since Lucien had to give a speech like this. Nice to know that he could still maneuver around the appropriate beats to keep the mood from souring into hopelessness. Yes, things were dire, but they were going to meet it head-on. Violently.
He went on, pacing. “I know it looks like we have plenty of numbers on our side, but it’s not just nine ancient, batty-as-shit wizards and the god they’re siphoning power off of. It’s the thousands upon thousands of people trapped in Cognouza as well.”
“You lot handle the Somnovem,” Tyffial shrugged. “The Tombtakers will handle whatever else there is.” She smiled at Essek with too many teeth. “That includes you.”
“Why I have no qualms about aiding you in the fight, I think calling me a Tombtaker is… inaccurate, to say the least,” Essek drawled.
Otis leaned over to stage whisper at him. “Nah, we already voted. Can’t back out now. You’re with us forever. Heh.”
While Essek had a crisis over that, Lucien flashed Tyffial a tight smile that she returned, the pair exchanging a heated series of silent messages with only the sharpness of their eyes. ”I don’t recall giving you control over the Tombtakers.” ”Oh really? Shouldn’t have fucked off and gotten yourself domesticated then.”
“That will not be enough to stand against an entire city,” Caleb spoke up. “We are going to need more allies.”

“Hey, Yussa! It’s Jester. We’re just wondering if you’d come with us to Aeor? We’re gonna fight an evil city in the Astral Sea.” A beat. “Please?”
”Aeor is hostile to wizards and I regret that I would prefer not to accompany you there. I could perhaps do some investigating, however.”
“Okay, so I told everyone that and they all freaked out and Beau says you should really, really not do that, like, at all.”
”Ah. Well. I will speak to some of my acquaintance and see about gathering any useful tools you might need, then.”

Beau crossed a line through Yussa’s name in her journal to join several other names that were considered dud leads. Couldn’t get the group in Vasselheim because somebody needed to be on stand-by if they failed; couldn’t recruit anyone from the Cobalt Soul because they were neck-deep in Assembly troubles…
Jester slapped her hands on the table. “What about Shakaste? We could have four clerics.”

“Shakaste, this is Cree of the Mighty Nein. We could use your help with a problem in Aeor, if you would be amenable.”
“Hey, baby, I would love to, but I’m a bit tied up in business out in the Swavain Islands right now. You understand?”

“I hate that guy, anyway,” Zoran muttered, watching Beau strike Shakaste’s name from the ledger.
“What about Cali and Reani?” Yasha offered.

Seconds after receiving Jester’s Sending, a tree in the backyard of Kindunos Keep spat out an overly excitable aasimar druid and her nervous sorceress girlfriend, who looked as if she still couldn’t quite get a handle on tree travel. “Oh my gosh, this used to be the Jagentoth’s place, Cali! I can’t believe I wasn’t there to see them get wrecked.”
Caduceus, who had been waiting for them, grinned as he gestured to the bushes that had sprung up where the Jagentoths had been buried. “You didn’t miss the tea at least.”
The two girls tackled him for a hug.

“This might be a long shot, but what about Keg? Think the Gentleman would give her up, Jes’?”

In a fight club in Nicodranas, Beau stood next to Yasha, waiting patiently for Keg to finish the brawl that had interrupted their conversation. She stepped out of the ring, victorious, her opponent flat on his back and groaning.
“Yeah, what the hell?” She grinned. “I miss knockin’ heads with you assholes.”

“Ooh. What about the crew of the Nein Heroez, Fjord?”
“I… don’t know if they’re going to jump at getting involved in this sort of danger willingly, Jester.”
Veth piped up, tapping her chin. “Twiggy might.”

On the deck of the Nein Heroez, Caleb and Veth laid out the plan to a wide-eyed Twiggy.
“I’m in!” She said, without even pausing to think about it.

“How many is that?”
“Eighteen. Anyone else?”
Eighteen seemed like so many to drag through the tundra, even with it being Molly’s favored terrain and therefore impossible for them to get lost. It seemed like too few to face the horrors of Cognouza and what was waiting for them there.
It also just didn’t feel like the right number, in general.
“I have an idea,” Cree spoke up during a lull between names being offered and dismissed in the same breaths.

What’s Up, Buttercup?
Everyone still recovering from the holidays or is that just me? I’m really enjoying these quiet days of January. My goal for this month is to organize. I mean really organize. I want my pantry to be HGTV worthy (we all know that won’t happen) with perfectly aligned and labeled containers. Honestly I’ll be happy if each shelf just has a purpose. We’ve been shoving stuff in there so haphazardly that you might grab confectioner’s sugar or Play-Doh. I’ve got a bunch of the grandgirl’s art supplies and games on a bottom shelf, but they wander. I need to tackle the master closet as well. It got a little out of hand over the holidays, and by holidays I mean Halloween through Christmas. It needs some straightening. It’s such a great space - there’s no excuse for letting it get messy. I’m also organizing the card catalog storage in my craft room. That’s just fun. It didn’t take long to fill the top two drawers with blocks of clay. It’s like spotting a rainbow every time I open them. I’m filling the rest with ribbons and washi tape that I use for making cards. Polka dots and gingham in every color!
I’m loading more ribbon and some washi tape in the bottom two drawers.
Is that a cabinet full of fun or what? It’s calling to me every day, asking me to come play. I mean, this needs to be an Easter card, right?
I like this gal too. I think she’s saying something like, “I haven’t lost all my marbles, but there’s definitely a hole in the bag.”
The sooner I get everything organized and ship shape, the sooner I can play. I’ve got so many ideas for clay and for cards banging around in my head, I need to get them out!
I have another problem though. My kids are so generous, and treated me like a queen on Christmas. I received everything from fresh canvases to paint on to a cordless glue gun (!!!). Isn’t the cord always too short? Anyway, I was thrilled with everything, but they also gifted me with Etsy, Sephora, and Amazon gift cards. The Sephora card was spent Christmas night, I’ve always got a basket ready to go. I usually have a shopping list on Amazon as well. No problem. BUT, I love so many things on Etsy and I have so much to spend that I can’t decide on anything! The pressure is too much! It’s killing me. I feel like I have to be really responsible with their hard-earned money, not a penny should be wasted. I study things and decide if I can make it myself for less, or if I really even need it. I can almost always talk myself out of it. So far I have purchased some new clay cutters, a batch of jewelry findings - earrings posts, jump rings, that sort of thing. Those are all things I needed. Then I bought a cute bird house. I’m thinking ahead to spring and it’s going to find a home in the Crape Myrtle tree beside the porch. Yes, I’m still working hard at luring all manner of furred and feathered friends to our yard. It’s working too. I’m hearing more and more bird song. That’s good for my soul, so that was a mental health purchase. But I’m still swimming in Etsy money and I can’t decide if I should opt for home decor, jewelry. art, garden stuff, or what. I’m stressing out! I don’t deserve more than a $25 gift card because I’ll give myself an ulcer trying to make the right choice. I will not waste one cent of my boys’ money and the burden is too much! Next year I’m asking for socks. I know, it’s a great problem to have. I also know that I’m the only one worried about it. My kids would scoff and say, “Enjoy! Spend it!” I don’t know if it’s the Scots or the German in me that balks.
That brings me to another I-don’t-want-to-spend-it quandry. When we moved here we knew we’d purchase new living and dining room furniture. We found sofas right away, but I didn’t see a dining set that I liked (translation: a price I liked). The whole fam damily was coming to visit shortly after we arrived and I needed a place for us to eat. I poked around on Facebook Marketplace and found a cheap table with six chairs that the sellers were willing to deliver. Score! It would serve as a placeholder, we’d all fit, and I figured when we found our new set we could pass it on. Eight months later we’re still using that ugly table. Mickey loves the chairs, I don’t. Here’s a snap from the day after Christmas. I was setting the table (not finished) for a brunch. I can’t remember why I took this pic, but having it on my phone saved me from walking in now to take a photo. I’m lazy.
See what I mean? The table is really ugly - very shiny fake finish on top, but there’s room for all of us. The menfolk all say they love the chairs. I’m not a fan. The color looks awful with our floors, but a rug underneath might help. Probably not. It’s also kind of squatty in the space. On the other hand - it’s solid, has apparently lasted decades, it’s in excellent shape, and I feel like I ought to find a way to like it. Can I chalk paint the top and then sand and stain those chairs? What could I do to Nancify it?
This is what I’ve been looking at.
I just can’t bring myself to spend on it. Also, as much as I love those sets, I’m not 100% sure they’d look right in our space. I’d be more sure if they were cheaper.
If I said that we needed a new set Mickey would be in the car and ready to go test chairs. I’m the one dragging my feet. It just feels wasteful. There’s a big gap between wants and needs. I want a pretty set, but I don’t need one.
The only thing I need is peace and bird song, and I’m working on that.
I think I’d rather have a fence in front of the tree line and a porch swing. Oh geez, it’s my Etsy gift card all over again.
I’m going to go take a bubble bath and read a book. I don’t want to think about money or stuff. Why can’t everything just be five dollars? This gives me heartburn.
Sending out lots of love (it’s FREE!) tonight. I hope that your year is off to a fine start and that your heart is full of hope for 2023. I’m daring to think that it will be good to us. I tend to start every year sure that it will be the best year ever, but the last couple have been determined to prove me wrong. That’s why I’m setting my sights a bit lower, hoping that if we’re good to each other and focus on what matters - kindness, growth, love, peace - things just might turn out okay. Don’t forget to be kind to yourself. Make sure that voice in your head is a friend.
And that’s a wrap. The bath is calling and I must go.

Open House: 1617 Kings Rd, Hollywood Hills
I love the traditional homes of the Hollywood Hills - the ones that were built first and stood the test of time. This one is entering its tenth decade.
The home is very unassuming as you walk into a giant hedge...
And then you walk in to the most beautiful kitchen, with wood and marble countertops, brick oven backsplash, and those solid exposed beams.
Lighting and wallpaper are wielded delicately throughout the house, with gentle metallics providing warmth and elegance.
The family room has more of those beams, and minimal touches which don't feel cold.
The dining room is just off the family room, with warm brick floors and that incredible chandelier.
Funny how the head of the table can see the carport, but the guests at the table have a lovely view of the yard.
I'm a sucker for these solid metal switches I see more and more these days. I know they're not cheap, but they elevate an afterthought to art.

Not thrilled with the artwork (looks a little too Marshalls to me) but I'd be happy to soak in that tub any day of the week.

The laundry is off the second guest bedroom (maid's quarters?) and I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge they even staged the laundry room with the fancy detergent - no Tide Pods here.

The guest even gets an enormous walk-in shower.
Back to a large hall space that connects the living room, kitchen, family room, dining room, and staircase all in one space.
Again with the muted metallic artwork - really pops against the cadet blue walls.
I love views up the stairs because, as a resident, this is something you'll probably have to see every day. You want it to be a space that doesn't look clinical, and they really used natural light and lighting well here.
The banister was solid wood too, no corners cut.
Super high ceilings in the master bedroom, where even the largest furniture can get swallowed.
Full-wall graphic is dark and moody. Not the color I would have chosen, especially with the green bed, but interesting idea nonetheless.
Hard to see on a day like today, but you do get a view of town.
Hallway to the bathroom where your neighbors get a view of you (there are thick curtains thankfully).
The SPACE in this closet was incredible, and the built-ins looked top notch.

Back across the yard to the guest house which has been turned into a screening room!
I've seen bigger screens, but this is an inviting area instead of a dark basement, and looks purpose built.

Dream office, and I love the fish wallpaper.
Many listings say "yoga studio" and it's just a mat shovel in a corner. This is a legit space / large bedroom that's used as a yoga room.
Full giant steam shower that you and your friends can fit into.

approximately two hours have passed since zara has sat down at the dining table and gotten to work, an explosion of art supplies covering the marble surface while she paints a styrofoam ball with cheap tempura paint. the kids are asleep, parents still out, and of course she couldn't say no to her boss' request of helping out on a fourth grade science project that's due tomorrow. she didn't expect anything less from a parent who pays probably a college tuition's worth of money for their children's private education, but the seemingly simple fourth grade science project proved to be more time-consuming than she'd imagined. her frustration simmers, bordering on an impending tantrum of her own, when she notices yet another paint stain on her brand new jeans ( which she waited weeks for to finally go on sale and still had to fight off buyer's remorse after purchasing ). just as she's about to give up for the night, her almost - outburst is interrupted by the sound of the opening front door. ❛ oh —- hey. you're home late, ❜ she greets the familiar face with forced politeness. partially distracted by the task at hand, and partially attempting to not make things so damn awkward. ❛ there's leftover pasta in the fridge if you want any. ❜ @oldspoet

Design, a foreign word used in Italian with a single sense. The literal translation is a project but, with the uncritical genuflection towards the Anglo-Saxon language, in ours it has almost exclusively taken on a single specific meaning: a project aimed at the production of everyday objects. Antidesign, which I have used for some time, also has a single meaning: the production of objects "of use and of charm", as Pierre Restany suggested in the distant 80s.

Anti-design has its ambitions and the main one is to minimize the enslavement of the people who contribute to the production of the above objects. By slavery I mean that which, for reasons of survival, forces millions of unfortunate people to keep up with mass production machines, from the simple ones for making a screw to the more complex ones called five-way pantographs or robotics (the new frontier of technology, which tends to eliminate the mechanical work of the unfortunate - but also workitself tout court): have you ever met them on the assembly lines of small and large industrial production companies? The immense sadness of these poorly paid young people is standard. In short, to return to ambition, if you can reduce the screws or eliminate them altogether (we have understood each other).

"Why don't we see other Zeti?"
from dialogue, we know that there are other zeti*- but at no point during lost world or any media past it do we see any of them!!! are they dead?? 😰
this can somewhat be chalked up to a personal interpretation but one thing i feel like people don't pay attention to is the fact that we never actually go to the lost hex in any official media- every single level in lost world takes place on terrain miles above the actual surface
heres pictures from every biome to prove my point
(extra notes for these pictures- in the pinball level and lava mountain i put sonic extra high so the background would be easier to see)
(in owl lights, the trees could be the floating terrain of silent forest, but if they're the proper surface its definitely the lowest point they travel to)
they even went so far as to fully MODEL the surface, but we don't actually ever go to it
(we don't even go there in IDW!!!)
so my interpretation for why we don't see other zeti other than the deadly six is that lost world takes place exclusively inside of the six's territory, which happens to be in the sky
and on the surface, there are plenty of other zeti- less than the population of sonic's world since it's much smaller but its still a developed species
its unlikely that sonic and tails ever met any of the other zeti considering all this, but it's possible eggman did if you say the architecture in frozen factory is his doing since it appears on the surface as well
*here are the two main lines people use to determine theres other zeti
but also there are plenty of present-tense lines that allude to a developed culture, like zik's mention of clubbing or zeena talking about a manicure

my friend said that geneva doesn't have much cheap areas but I live in one of the comparatively cheap ones which is why I keep finding cool graffitied places around my house,, i live where the closest thing to poor area in this richfuck city is,, like one of the only areas where u find cheap stacked up apartments so the coolest protests and shit happen around here cause of the lower class colored immigrant population is more concentrated here... it's incredibly small and there are other very small areas like that in the city elsewhere but it still is... some of my other friends who live in massive houses by the lake live in rich areas and we talked about this before sometimes on my way to their houses we come across this area where even richer impossibly rich houses like millionaires live I have seen those massive bangalows there are like white palaces with golden furniture I kid u not this one house was all glass and white marble and inside there was a massive golden couch and a golden dining table with golden chairs and stair railings... this makes so much sense
