After years of people acting like Daemon “never loved” Rhaenyra or was using her for the throne, it’s so funny to see those arguments completely obliterated in just two episodes.

In episode 1, we see that he genuinely cares for her:

he brings her gifts with meaning and sincerity, things that have value that both of them appreciate and can treasure

she is the only one he speaks Valyrian too (he doesn’t do it with Viserys or Mysaria despite them knowing it!). One of the actors said it’s like their own secret love language a

nd that couldn’t be more accurate

look at their banter during the throne room: the way he teases her and the way she snipes back at him but instead of getting angry, he smiles. she makes him smile.

with her, he puts aside his claws and shows a very rare tenderness. that scene of him carefully putting that necklace on her? he wouldn’t be caught dead doing that to anyone else.

the look in his eyes when he goes to comfort her during her mom’s funeral? if he was really only looking to use Rhaenyra for the throne this would have been the perfect chance to drive a wedge between her and her father and draw her over to his side. but he doesn’t. why? because he cares for her and sees how alone she is in that moment

In episode 2, we see that Daemon is truly and utterly whipped:

the moment Rhaenyra arrives on her dragon he goes from smug douche mode to “oh fuck the wife is here and i need to behave now mode.” He literally clutches at that egg like a boy caught putting his hand in the cookie jar and Mysaria gives him the biggest wtf look lmao

there’s this tiny smile on his face when she lands and all of Otto’s side is in shock. he’s fucking proud of her for that glorious entrance. he’s glad to see her even if it means things are now much more complicated

Hell, you could even argue he engineered this whole scenario and trolled the fuck out of everyone, just so he could see two people that he cares about most. His brother. And Rhaenyra. He chose the one thing that he knew she’d be pissed about him taking: her brother’s egg. This is what happens when Daemon is bored, lonely, and separated from the people he cares about most for too long.

For all the people who claim Rhaenyra was the unsuspecting victim to Daemon’s desire for the throne and just manipulated and used, Rhaenyra destroys those claims with just a few sentences. “I’m right here, uncle. The object of your ire, the reason you were disinherited. If you wish to be restored as an heir, you need to kill me. So do it. And be done with all this bother.”

She straight up challenges him and tells him to kill her. Why? Because she knows that there’s no way in seven hells that he would ever come close to doing it. She sees right through him and calls his bluff. She knows he cares too much. And he knows that she knows. Hence, the slightly amused, slightly proud, and very much exasperated “you know I would never do that” look on his face.

So it’s established that he would never hurt her even if she gave him the chance. Then it’s also established that he would never lie to her either. He does his whole elaborate prank about getting another wife and having a child to everyone, but under her stare, he can’t bring himself to lie. That shows more than just care and affection. That shows that he respects her too much to lie. He can play everyone else for a fool and have his little game, but not Rhaenyra.

“You already have a wife.” “Not of my own choosing.” The look he gives her afterwards when she tells him to kill him and he just stares at her in silence. He’s clearly not thinking “this girl really ruined my plans smh.” You can practically see the wheels turning in his head. This mf is involuntarily thinking “I’m going to make this girl my wife one day.”

TLDR: Daemon is whipped for Rhaenyra and I will hear no objections

The fact that Alicent’s stans deluded themselves into thinking that she’s the reason Rhaenyra wasn’t beset by assassins in episode 9 and did something because she raised her voice to someone but the moment her father talked to Lord Westerling she remained in silence, it was his refusal that saved Rhaenyra, not Alicent.

And sending terms for Rhaenyra to deliver her toddler sons to live under Aegon II’s sadistic will as hostages is hardly defending Rhaenyra or doing any good to her, that’s fucking miserable, it’s insane how y’all believe that those terms were good, it’s awful on the show and on the book.

I get it now Alicent spent 10 years harassing and tormenting Rhaenyra and her underage children, openly saying she wanted her father there to take her side even tho she knew her wishes meant exile or even death to Rhaenyra because she was trying to influence the inevitable and protect Rhaenyra, true love 😍

Delusion--sometimes they are fun, harmless birds caressing us into safety, other times it's a steel band slowly starving us of or own intellect.

What really irks me are the damn terms being mischaracterized as harmless stipulations as if the greens (Alicent & Otto) are far more likely to be uncharitable to Rhaenyra's children than the reverse.

[Regardless of truebornness or illegitimacy, bc w/their regard for those not-illegitimate kids when they did live at the keep, they already showed they don't care all that much for how young and vulnerable and worthy of protection a child is; Daemon is more or less under rhaenyra's thumb and no I do not care about the choking scene bc no it is NOT even consistent with DaemonxRhaenyra--if they wanted to establish Daemon was abusive towards her, they should have shown scenes of him intimidating her or something in episodes 7-8! so I do not even think of this scene as HotD "canon" and you cannot convince me otherwise! just as I do not think Criston is Dornish in the show no matter what Alicent said or what he looked like--esp since if he was Dornish, it's far more likely he'd still look pale bc the northernest Dornish--the "stony" Dornish as Daeron I later calls them--are paler people who look your "typical" Westerosi..the Martells' looks are not ubiquitous in Dorne! Write better, and then I'll perhaps respect your storytelling.]

And while there are some sweet and rational rhaenicent shippers out there, the ship simply never made sense in the way that it was written in the show. Their development as close friends was never shown, and for how different they are, it needed to be shown! Especially with:

how Alicent really didn't seem to understand Rhaenyra as a person for her to act as she does in the Sept episode and attempting to reinforce "girls don't involve themselves with the politics of men" despite Rhaenyra being the freaking heir // while this is happening, Alicent visiting the king, with there being no sign of even hesitance , guilt, or desire to tell Rhaenyra about it--similar to how Criston should have known Rhaenyra would never leave with him and abandon her family or "duty" or the prospect of becoming the first queen of Westeros after years of everyone's doubt (2)

how she uses her queenly-stepmotherly authority over her (3)

how she continues this in her approach to her in that "queenly" way, accusing Rhaenyra PLUS the implication of her disapproving of her actions despite having to have known how Rhaenyra has felt Viserys has shunted her for most of her life....(4)

From the beginning, alicent has been too much of a ruler-follower to appeal to rhaenyra AND she has thought that for rhaenyra to be happy or at least content with her life, she must also conform to the obedient social rules of feminine conduct--ignoring any presence of inner conflict Rhaenyra has had or pondering over it.

“Daemon and Rhaenyra not being engaged was the unusual Targaryen thing.”

When two Targaryens are actually seen close together, and they have a bond, and they like each other, it is very likely that, immediately, they would be betrothed. For instance, we have the case for Daemon’s parents who were supposed to be married off, but Queen Alysanne stopped ber husband and said, “No. Don’t you see that Alyssa is actually, like, a shadow to Baelon and they actually really do love each other? They have to be married,” which, of course, end up happening because they’re totally in love. But why is it that Daemon, who brings Rhaenyra gifts, goes on dragon rides with Rhaenyra around the city almost every single day, reads her poetry, is really close to her, and they’re basically attached by the hip, never gets betrothed to Rhaenyra despite the fact that there are no available Targaryen matches for Daemon?

It is because the adults sucks at matchmaking.

Hey, thanks so much for the fic suggestion the thing is I kinda tried to focus on non incest ships in the fics I recommend. NOT that I judge anyone who reads it because fanfiction is a judgement free zone it’s just that it the hotd fandom in particular people have become way to comfortable condoning incest because Daemon and Rhaenyra aren’t frowned upon enough by the general public so I didn’t want to contribute to that in any way

I think only one fic from the ones I recommended had a AegonxHeleana shipping at the center of it although I like to think that doesn’t really count because in that fanfiction Sansa was reborn as Helaena so they aren’t really siblings. I also included some Rhaenicent fics because it’s only pseudo-incest and they’re the same age so I don’t really categorize it as incest.

I think I'll have to change Seihai's background a bit. Fortunately, the story doesn't need info about her childhood for now.

To sum things up, Seihai's lived in the mountains as an abandoned egg for a long time after fenghuangs extinguishing the rest of her race, with no Phoenix's fire at the time to hatch the egg, it was thanks to Pangu's presence that she was somehow able to slowly begin the hatching process.

At the same time, HH said in TO that the dragon brothers lived in fenghuang lands for a while, so when they finally arrive it's Valkyon's fire presence that improves the process greatly and the egg hatches.

But as time goes by, Seihai grows more attached to Lance than Valkyon, thus explaining her loyalty to the villains side, until Lance kills Valkyon and Seihai does a last sacrifice to prevent Lance's invasion and victory.

But in the end they're distant relatives and coming to think of it, his route will be somewhat weird because people will consider incest lmao (I'm thinking about writing two Lance options: Seihai as route, and Erika as route, just because.)

Then I remember House of the Dragon and how people swoon over DaemonxRhaenyra and all other targaryen shippings, and my worries disappear lmao
