Just Activism Things
Some activists want/like to be seem as victims. They hold onto misleading facts that agree with their notion that everything is shit. They find every little thing to be against or for their cause. It's like they want to be seen as victims. It's insulting the way that some activists make their same race or gender to be these helpless, little flowers that bend or break at the slightest touch. Like being seen as damstrels in distress.
There's nothing wrong with realizing that the entire world isn't out to get you or people like you. There's nothing wrong with realizing that the time we are living in is actually pretty great but needs improvement. There's something wrong with scapegoating and demonizing people who disagree with you, and shoving your belief systems down other people's throats instead of talking to them like human beings.

Black Sails S4E7 (Spoilers!)
Although there was less blood and gore and a little more hope this episode, I’m still heartbroken. But first, the good stuff: *Anne is still alive - and good LORD I loved Rackham being sweet and tender with her. So hearbreaking a beautiful.  *Madi is still alive! *Eleanor Guthries grandmother, yet another proof of how awesome this show is when it comes to portrait women. There are no damstrels in distress here. *Rackham got himself a little fangirl and for some reason, even if I know Max is the “Mary Read” in the story, I couldn’t help but thinking “what if this had been Mary Read, it would’ve been so funny if they’d made her get into the pirate life like that”. *Max and Granny Guthrie just beeing badass. *The Maroon Queen and Julius keeping shit together while Silver has his breakdown.  *Woodes Rogers is suffering. *Jack Rackham giving a kick in the present day’s ass when telling the fangirl to put down gossip (translating this to present day’s “clickbaits”) and READ A BOOK. BOOKS ARE FUCKING IMPORTANT IN THIS SHOW, PEOPLE! OUR PIRATES ARE LITERALLY TELLING US TO READ MORE AND I LOVE IT! And the sad stuff: *Madi in fucking chains. Not a surprise, but I fear for her life now and I can’t help but thinking that Woodes Rogers will kill her. Please, spare us that? *Silver is loosing his shit. Not unexpected, but still fucking depressing. *Problems in the alliance between the slaves and pirates. Not unexpected either and even if it raises the worries for me, I love the fact that Julius points out that there will be different consequences for them in case of defeat, because of the colour of their skin. Something Silver, as a white person - and someone who’s not experienced slavery - could easily forget. But it’s still... sad. *Seeing Silver’s grief and how it clouds his usually clear mind. *Knowing that even if Silver AND Flint are aware of that Billy’s actions and the capture of Madi are things meant to separate their minds, that knowledge isn’t enough for them to keep it from affecting them. And the irritating stuff: *No Ben Gunn. If there was any scene with him, I missed it. Come on, I need that little cinnamon roll (who I now suspect will be marooned because of his decision to free Billy) looking all sweet and concerned. *How THE FUCK is this show supposed to tie all the ends together in just three more episodes?! HOW?! *pause for this Billy Bones fan to pull herself together and dive into madness* Now. Billy Bones. My dear, sweet, murderous, betrayed, disappointed and by hatred consumed pirate and cinnamon roll no more: I still love you and there’s a cynical part of me understanding that you, just like Flint once did, has reached a point where your dark feelings have taken control over you in a way that will make literally NOTHING GOOD FOR ANYONE IN THE LONG RUN! I just... Well, I wont say it’s bad writing because it isn’t. It really isn’t. And no, this time it’s not easy for me to defend my cinnamon roll, but I think maybe this might be the first time I have no doubts about his cause.  For a long time, I’ve been puzzled about his loyalty. I’ve had a lot of moments when I’ve been thinking “why does he keeps saving Flint’s ass if the crew’s well-being is his number one concearn”? He’s simply not behaved in a way that has made me convinced he’s the kind of group person, caring for his brothers no matter what until, ironically enough, now. I’ve thought that a lot of his weird actions throughout the show have been a sign of inner struggles when it comes to Flint, but sorry Blint shippers (I was once one of you, I don’t know what I am now tbh), my last lingering hope this was about Billy struggling with love for Flint is gone. Billy is not stupid, as both Flint and Silver have said, and no matter what shit any of them put him through, non of it made Billy snap like this. This is Billy loosing the one thing, the one safe ground and context that meant everything to him. The men he’s been trying to protect and keep together - sometimes successful and sometimes less successful, he’s done both smart and stupid moves - have abandoned him.  If Billy is the type of group person I finally believe he is, this is not a weird turn for him. If I don’t see him in the light of “possible Blint” or why not “possible Gunnbones”, and simply strip him from all romantic and/or sexual interests we’ve been speculating about, his actions make perfect sence for the character. It’s not what I wanted, but to quote our strongest and most badass pirate in the show, Anne Bonny, “it is what it is”.  Billy has, in this episode (and I must say, thank God for the lack of gore and blood, but DAMN ALL THESE DIALOGUES KEPT ME ON EDGE IN A WAY NOT EVEN CHARLES EXECUTION DID!) taken yet another step on the path to the miserable alcoholic in TI and it’s done in a brilliant way. (Yes, I keep my personal fangirl wishes in a short and tight leash here.) This is not bad or lazy writing just because Billy has taken a turn I personally didn’t want him to take and the only, literally only thing I like about him right now, is that he saved Madi from the fire - and he didn’t even do that out of compassion or care, but to use her as a tool against Silver. Now, I can defend a lot of his feelings against Silver and his (former?) brothers just as I can defend some of Flint’s and Silver’s more horrible actions, but as a Billy fan, this is a hard blow if not completely unexpected.  So, I understand Billy, just as I understand almost every character in this show on some level, but I don’t like what he’s doing one bit and yes, I’m sad to see my favourite character choosing this dark path. And he’s more of a hard piece of dried sourdough bread now - without butter. Even with tea, it’s hard to digest and wont make you feel very good. Be nice to us Billy fans now, fandom. We (at least I think I speak for more people than myself) have a rough time at the moment, trying to digest the fact that the sweet bosun with rainbow belt and puppy eyes in season 1, has taken to a very dark and depressing path and it’s painful to see my last lingering hopes for a turn to the better, crushed.    But I refuse to say it’s bad writing just because I don’t get what I want, because it’s not. This is amazing storytelling. Just amazing.
