Tournament: Best Marius ship

Vote for who you ship Marius de Romanus with the most!

If you blanket-statement hate him then this tournament isn't made for you, so please don't negatively interact with it. This is purely for fandom fun and my own curiosity.

Also I scoured AO3 to find enough ships for the tournament and was vaguely surprised by some of the results I got lmao. Y'all freaks

Thinking about Armand's relationship with food and sustenance.

Much of his trauma relates to hunger--watching monks slowly starve in the monastery knowing that would be his fate one day, then being starved by his captors as a human AND as a vampire. Finally he inflicts this suffering on weaker vampires.

The first thing Marius does is feed him. Marius later becomes a literal source of nourishment by feeding Armand his blood, which he compares to honey. Armand often describes the lavish, abundant food at the palazzo. It's easy to see how he would grow to associate food and love.

That's especially interesting in light of his treatment of Daniel. When they first meet, he pulls his go-to coven master move (lock up+starve). A major turning point in the relationship happens when Armand orders everything on the menu for Daniel at the Copley. An abundance of food reflects emotion. It's how Armand expresses care.

On the night of the first blood exchange, Armand declares his love by feeding and feeding from Daniel. (Feeding is also an act of ownership: "you are mine, beautiful boy.")

apologies if this has already been discussed

but in all the fantastic metas I’ve seen discussing the halves of faces for Louis, Lestat, and Armand in the s1/s2 promo posters, many have pointed out that we have no promo poster for Daniel despite him being an important character (it’s not his time yet in the story)

but he DOES have a very interesting image on the cover of his so called “brutally honest” memoir of a man (is it him or someone else??idk) whose “brain half” is covered with that weird grainy image you used to get on vhs tapes when they malfunctioned in the player or had their content erased

[and sometimes if you paused in the right place or played the tape slowly you could see some of those lost images]

and there’s a face of someone hidden in the black part by the dude’s shoulder who is looking directly at us

and that vhs malfunction thing continues on the back to Daniel’s author image who we know has memory loss around the original interview (lost of theories as to why)

so Daniel’s memoir has the same half face as the promo posters but is it him in that picture or someone else? who is the face in the background? curiouser and curiouser said alice.

[also is the roman weiss thing a nod to Marius?? idk.]

Goddamn Aliens 3

Marius/Daniel, Armand/Daniel - 2,528 words - Mature

After spending the night comforting Armand during the fallout of his fight with Marius, Daniel talks to Marius and tells him that he and Armand will be leaving for New York when things settle.

This is another attempt to fill in some of the gaps in PLROA where we know Daniel is there but he is not really on the page. I guess because most of this stuff is not happening in Lestat's presence. But I like to imagine how it happened, hence this series!

This is Part 3. Part 1 is Daniel learning about the aliens, and Part 2 is the aftermath of the fight Armand and Marius have that Lestat tells us about but we don't see on the page.

Short Excerpt:

He looked up when Daniel entered. He wore an elegant red robe. His blond hair hung around his shoulders and his blue eyes were sharp. Vampires did not get circles beneath their eyes but there was a weariness in his expression anyway.

“Hey,” Daniel said.

“I see you still have all your limbs. I assume everyone is so lucky.” Marius’ voice was light but his expression remained hard.

“Armand is fine,” Daniel answered.

“I figured as much. I was referring to anyone who may have been unfortunate enough to cross his path.”

Daniel sighed. He sat down in the easy chair opposite Marius. Like the chairs in Armand’s room, these were made of soft velvet and oak.

“He was kind of on a warpath last night,” Daniel conceded. Marius raised an eyebrow. Either surprised Daniel agreed or perhaps in question. “But calling him a child—“

“I said he had childlike qualities,” Marius argued, but then he sighed, too. “I suppose I could have chosen my words more carefully.”

Daniel snorted. “You think? You’d never say anything like that to Lestat or to me, and both of us can be…”

“Immature?” Marius offered.

“Reckless,” Daniel corrected.
