"Dan.The feet...of a young ballet dancer...who ended her life when she lost her ambition. These legs...walked the streets. You remember the hooker who was killed in the E.R. by her pimp last week? Think of all the bodies these legs have wrapped around. What was the value of her life?To end up being picked apart by the likes of Dr. Graves and his bumbling students? And here, the womb of the virgin. Struck down before tasting the pleasures of life. Remember? Her skin. So soft. So warm. But so cold in death. The arms of a waitress. The lawyer's hand. Case dismissed. And look at this delicate piece. What do you think? A sculptress? A harpist? Would you believe... a murderess? But they're all equal now. Nothing but cast-off remnants of a meaningless existence. Even her. How beautiful is this face? Oh, yes.She...was special.Yes.Just...dead...tissue.But in our hands...it's the clay of life.Within this chest,Meg's heart will beat again."
I haven't stopped thinking about this part of Bride of the Reanimator since I saw it because it very much reads that Herbert understands what's typically attractive in a woman, what someone like Dan would see in a woman in an attempt to drag him back into the project, but it shows a clear disconnect between Herbert and actually EXPERIENCEING these ideals and understandings. He doesn't understand the attraction to women, but he knows how other people experience it and does everything he can to use it to his advantage. Especially if you remember how Herbert touched the body while he did this, having every opportunity to touch her, running a hand just short of her breast and clearly showing no interest in it. All his interest is on Dan.
He may not understand the attraction, but he understands Dan. And that was more than enough to get under his skin. Anyway gay Herbert rights

@ikkaku-of-heart:
A package arrived for Herbert, delivered by a rather perturbed-looking seabird who immediately flew off the moment its task was complete. Attached to the package was a letter.
Hi Herbert!
I've been working on my sewing skills and thought I'd make you something. I hope I judged the sizing right! Try to keep out of trouble, yeah? Next time I see you I'm taking your measurements so I can tailor you a nice shirt. In the meantime, try not to get too much blood on your gift.
With love, Ikkaku
Within the plain brown package lay a brand-new, stark white lab coat with the words "Dr. Herbert West" embroidered in blue across the left breast pocket. The coat also contained numerous hidden pockets within the lining perfect for test tubes, tools, and syringes to be tucked away and concealed. Inside the collar, where a tag would typically be found, was the Heart Pirate jolly roger. It was an unofficial declaration that this scientist was under the protection of one curly-haired pirate engineer.
Tumblr media
It was a rare moment when Herbert found himself simply outside. Time spent loitering was time wasted. Normally, anyway. But there has been something shifting on the island lately. Maybe it was too many new people that was setting him on edge. Foolish people who fancied themselves doctors had returned to Arkham from off-island and loved claiming how cultured and advanced the outside world was. Now they were trying desperately to bring that "culture" to Arkham.
A fool's errand.
It disgusted Herbert. Having more travelers to town meant idiotic injuries he had to care for at the hospital. It seemed he had no time for anything these days. It was either the hospital or the lab. It was only the strain of work and mental exhaustion that now had Herbert sitting in the moist, gloomy air that blanketed Joras. He knew that technically fresh air was good for a bad mood but there was usually supposed to be sunshine somewhere in the equation.
A flap of wings drew his attention. He blinked, features scrunching slightly at the sight of the delivery bird. It was most irregular for him to receive anything. He rarely ordered things and he was not keen on giving away his address.
Cautiously he took the letter, opening it. the tightness in his face and across his shoulders rapidly eased. He read the note from his friend, a surprisingly soft smile creeped onto his face. The letter was placed securely in the pocket of his shirt as he quickly opened the box.
The coat was pulled out with rapidly mounting excitement. The material was comfortable and sturdy. The many pockets would not sag or rip under the assault of Herbert's many items. Seeing his name stitched in blue filled him with an emotion he was unfamiliar with. He quickly stood up from his seat and slipped on the lab coat. Yes. this would do nicely.
This was one thing he loved about Ikkaku: her eye from practicality. He would need to thank her. Perhaps a package with some treats that were only available on Joras.

Case Studies: Little Hans - Sigmund Freud
Little Hans
Tumblr media
In the early 20th century Sigmund Freud was under pressure to provide evidence to support his theories from client cases. With Dora, Leonardo Da Vinci, and Daniel Paul Schreber, Freud explored similar themes including bisexuality moving between heterosexuality and homosexuality where both environmental challenges, hormonal changes and sexual opportunities availed themselves. And for males, Freud described an intimidation or castration complex where sexuality is affected by traumas of pride. His emphasis on these themes continued with Little Hans, The Ratman, and The Wolfman. With Little Hans, Herbert Graf, Freud was at a disadvantage because he had not yet developed the skills to be a great child Psychoanalyst, so he relied on notes from parents to record their kid's thinking and behaviour patterns. "While I myself supervised the overall plan of treatment and also intervened personally on one occasion by talking to the lad myself, the treatment itself was carried out by the little boy's father." Freud admitted that "...no one else could have persuaded the child to admit so freely to his feelings and nothing could replace the expertise with which the father was able to interpret the utterances of his 5-year-old son: the technical difficulties of carrying out the psychoanalysis of so young a patient would have been insurmountable." Herbert was the son of Max Graf, the music critic, and Olga Hönig who provided most of the material for the analysis. "His parents, who were both among my closest followers, had agreed to bring up their first child with no more constraint than proved necessary to maintain decent behaviour, and as the child developed into a cheerful, good-natured and bright little boy, they proceeded quite happily with their attempt to let him grow and express himself without intimidation."
Infantile Sexuality - Freud: http://psychreviews.org/sexuality-part-2-infantile-sexuality-sigmund-freud/
Sexual theories of children
One of the theories that Freud had to defend was his theories of how children developed sexually before puberty. In Freud's time it was more common to believe that sexuality only begins with puberty. Analysis of a Phobia in a Five-year old Boy, was published a few years after his Three Essays on the Theory of Sexuality. Freud's Oral Phase coincides with breast feeding and an early sexual organization. The review of Little Hans takes place in the period of the Phallic phase, around ages 3 - 4, when children obsess about the penis, sexual differences between men and women and early sexual theories, like that of the stork. Children can be direct with their questions, with parents in most cases misdirecting them with inaccurate answers. Freud recounts notes from Hans's parents:
Hans, aged 3 3/4: 'Daddy, have you got a widdler too?'
Father: 'Of course I have.'
Hans: 'But I've never seen it when you get undressed.'
On another occasion he watches with fascination while his mother undresses at bedtime. She asks 'Whatever are you looking at?'
Hans: 'I'm just looking to see if you've got a widdler too.'
Mummy: 'Of course I have. Didn't you know that?'
Hans: 'No, I thought because you're so big you must have a widdler like a horse's.'"
Freud then moves to the castration complex where early masturbation is punished. "At the same time [Hans's] interest in widdlers is not just theoretical: as we might surmise, it stimulates him to touch that organ as well. At the age of 3 1/2 his mother catches him with his hand on his penis. She threatens him: 'If you do that, I'll tell Dr. A. to come and he'll cut off your widdler. What will you do then when you have to widdle?'
Hans: 'I'll use my botty.'"
"He responds without any sense of guilt as yet, but acquires on this occasion the 'castration complex' that is so often to be inferred from the analysis of neurotics, even though without exception they strenuously resist any acknowledgement of it."
Hans continued noticing penises everywhere including on giraffe's, a cow's udder, and horses.
"I draw a giraffe for Hans... He says to me, 'You must draw his widdler.' I reply, 'Draw it on yourself.' At this he adds a new line to the picture of the giraffe, which at first he leaves short but then adds another line to it, remarking, 'His widdler is longer than that.' Hans and I walk past a horse which is urinating. He says, 'The horse's widdler is down below, like mine.' He watches his 3-month-old sister being bathed and says pityingly, 'Her widdler is really really tiny.' He is given a doll to play with, and undresses her. He looks at her carefully and says, 'Her widdler is only really tiny.'"
Sibling rivalry
"...brothers ought not to pursue honours or powers from the same sources but from different ones. ~ Peter Walcot paraphrasing Plutarch (Moralia 486 B & C)
Hans's father Max describes the reactions of his little Herbert with a new inclusion to the family. "Hans is very jealous of the new arrival and as soon as anyone praises her, finds her pretty, etc., he replies scornfully: 'But she hasn't got any teeth yet.' For when he saw her for the first time he was astonished that she was unable to speak and assumed that the reason she could not speak was because she did not have any teeth. In the early days after the birth he finds himself having to play second fiddle, of course, and suddenly comes down with a very sore throat. In his fever he is heard to say: 'But I don't want a little sister!' It takes about six months for him to get over his jealousy, after which he becomes as affectionate towards Hanna as he is conscious of his own superiority." Here we have the sources of jealousy being insecurity over sources of pleasurable attention and the cure coming from the older sibling being able to find their own superiority to regain security. As long as the child cannot find their own distinctive superiority there will be continued resentment based on the feeling of being replaced by the younger sibling. Conflict is reduced when different talents are developed within different siblings then the conflict can only be escalated again if parents stupidly refuse to acknowledge the value of those different talents and start picking favourites. This lesson extends outwards beyond family to the economy. A peaceful society is one where all the world's cultures are able to trade differences with each other in such a way that as many individuals in society gain a sense of security. Economic crashes and limited varieties of industries can create jealous and envious tensions in the world. These tensions can create war, revolution, and even more subtle problems like chronic unemployment and psychological problems. Freud quotes another older child in his notes in the paper as saying of his younger brother that "the stork can take him back again."

Bisexuality
"Hans's 5-year-old cousin is here on a visit. Hans, now 4, embraces him continually and during one of these tender embraces and says, 'Oh, I do love you.' This is the first instance of homosexuality that we shall encounter in Hans, but certainly not the last. Our little Hans is apparently the epitome of all the vices! We have moved to a new apartment. (Hans is 4.) A door leads from our kitchen to a narrow balcony, from which one can see into the apartment on the opposite side of the courtyard. Here Hans has discovered a little girl of 7 or 8. Now he sits on the step leading to the balcony waiting to adore her, and will sit there for hours. At 4 O'Clock in particular, when the little girl comes home from school, we cannot keep him in the room, nor stop him from taking up his observation post. On one occasion, when the little girl does not appear at the window at the usual time, Hans becomes very agitated and plagues the servants with questions: 'When is the little girl coming home? Where is she?', etc. When she finally appears he is ecstatic and cannot take his eyes off the apartment opposite. The passion with which Hans embarked on this 'love at a distance' can be explained by the fact that Hans has no little playmate, boy or girl. Frequent contact with other children is obviously a necessary part of a child's normal development."
"Shortly afterwards we leave to spend the summer in Gmunden and Hans (4 1/2) now has company. His playmates are our landlord's the next-door children, Anna (10) and two other little girls whose names I cannot recall, who are about 9 and 7. His favourite is Fritzl, whom he often embraces and assures of his love. On one occasion he is asked, 'Which of the little girls do you like best?' and answers 'Fritzl'. At the same time he is very aggressive towards the girls, swaggers and acts the man, embraces them and smothers them with kisses, which Berta for one very much enjoys. One evening, as Berta is coming out of the room he puts his arms round her neck and says in the sweetest of voices, 'You're so lovely, Berta'; however, this does not stop him from kissing the others and assuring them of his love too. He is also very fond of Mariedl, another of the landlord's daughters who plays with him; she is about 14, and one evening as he is being put to bed he says, 'I want Mariedl to sleep with me.' When he is told, 'She can't do that', he says, 'I want her to sleep with Mummy or Daddy, then.' He is told, 'She can't do that either, Mariedl must sleep downstairs with her parents'."
"On the following occasion, too, Hans said to his Mummy, 'You know, I should so like to sleep with that little girl.' The occasion gives rise to great amusement, for Hans behaves just like a grown-up in love. For some days a pretty little girl, about 8 years old, has been coming into the restaurant where we have lunch, and Hans has of course immediately fallen in love with her. He is constantly turning round on his chair to look at her out of the corner of his eye; he goes over to stand near her and flirt as soon as he has eaten, but goes bright scarlet if anyone catches him at it. If the little girl returns his glance he immediately looks in the opposite direction, covered in shame. His behaviour occasions hilarity, of course, in all the restaurant guests. Every day when we take him into the restaurant he asks, 'Do you think the little girl will be here today?' When she finally comes he goes as red as any adult in the same situation. On one occasion he comes over to me, quite blissful, and whispers in my ear: 'I know where the little girl lives. I've seen her go up the steps in such and such a place.' While he may behave aggressively towards the little girls at home, here he is altogether the platonically languishing beau. This may have something to do with the fact that the girls at home are village children, while this one is a lady of refinement. I have already mentioned that he once said he would like to sleep with her."
Freud's male homosexual theory
Freud continued his theory of male homosexuality by connecting early sexual theories of children where everyone is expected to have a penis. When the penis is then made the prime importance of sexual pleasure, associated with the loving connection of the mother, later discoveries of the vagina and clitoris lead to a disappointment. The desire for a "woman with a penis", as Freud puts it, moves to the new object which is feminine looking male. Of course Freud is in the early days of sexual orientation psychology, but some clues to biology appear in his review of Daniel Paul Schreber's book that show that stress and age related hormonal changes can also affect an adult's sexual orientation even if they were married to a woman and had regular sex with the desire to have a baby. [See: Daniel Paul Schreber: https://rumble.com/v1gu84v-case-studies-daniel-paul-schreber-freud-and-beyond.html] The complexity of sexual orientation is only starting to be unraveled. There are patterns but many people have very individual experiences with their choice of sexual objects and some of confusion has to do with ignorance of biology. At this point in time Freud sticks with his theory of the fluidity of objects and doesn't posit a homosexual drive, or instinct. Instincts for Freud are biological drives to action. "It is quite inappropriate to single out one particular homosexual drive; it is not a peculiarity of his drives that distinguishes the homosexual, but his choice of object." Here Freud pushes a desire for better sexual education of children. Freud says "Hans is homosexual, as all children may very well be, quite in accordance with the undeniable fact that he only knows of one kind of genitalia, genitalia like his own."
Freud then observes Hans's exploration of other girls where he's more bold in some cases, or remains at a distance with yearning. His desire to sleep with them connects with his desire to be in bed with his mother, and Freud even equates the term to "sleep with someone" as an adult term that comes from childhood connections of sleeping in bed with mummy.

Little Oedipus
Freud also asserts that when there is a "paucity of other objects of love" children can revert, for example, back to their mother. This hints that Freud's theory views sexuality as something that looks for convenient objects. If parents are the only ones around, then children target their desires towards them. When other children are around, then new targets are made. For example, during summer months in "Gmunden, when his father's alternating presence and absence drew his attention to the conditions that determined that longed-for intimacy with his mother. Later...when Hans could no longer count on his father's going away, the wish was intensified until its content was that his father should go away for good, should be 'dead'." Yet there was some ambivalence toward his father as Freud describes. "Hans feels an intense love for the father against whom he harbours a death-wish, and while his intelligence may lead him to query this contradiction, he is still obliged to demonstrate its reality by hitting his father and then immediately kissing the place where he had hit him." His father recounts...
"Hans, 4 1/4 years old. This morning his mummy gives Hans a bath, as she does every day, then dries him and pats him with talcum powder. As she puts talcum powder around his penis, taking care not to touch it, Hans says, 'Why don't you touch me there?"
Mummy: 'Because that's dirty.'
Hans: 'What? Dirty? Why?'
Mummy: 'Because it's not decent.'
Hans (laughing): 'It's fun, though.'"
"Being helped to do a widdle, which involves unfastening the child's trousers and taking out his penis, is obviously a pleasurable activity for Hans. When they are out on a walk it is of course mainly his father who helps Hans in this way, which provides an opportunity for his homosexual tendencies to become fixed on his father."
"Yesterday, when I took Hans for a wee he asked me for the first time to take him behind the house so that no one could see, and added, 'Last year, when I did a widdle, Berta and Olga watched me.' I take this to mean that last year he enjoyed it when the girls watched him, but doesn't any more. The pleasure of exhibitionism is now being repressed. The repression in real life of his desire to be seen - or helped - by Berta and Olga when he is doing a widdle, explains why it has turned up in his dreams...Since then I have repeatedly observed that he does not wish to be seen when doing a widdle."
"Hans (4 1/2) is again watching his little sister being bathed and starts to laugh. Asked, 'Why are you laughing?' he replies, 'I'm laughing at Hanna's widdler.' 'Why?' - 'Because her widdler's so lovely.' Obviously this is not what he means. Hanna's widdler actually struck him as funny. This is incidentally the first time he acknowledges the difference between male and female genitals, instead of denying it."

Equinophobia
As the analysis continued Hans's father noticed a phobia begin in his son. "Sexual over-excitement caused by his mother's caresses is no doubt at the root of the problem, but I am at a loss to identify the immediate cause of the disorder. The fear that a horse will bite him on the street seems connected in some way to fear of a large penis - you will recall from my earlier notes that he was aware at a very early stage of the horse's large penis and came to the conclusion that, as she is so big, his mother must have a widdler like a horse's." Freud makes some connections to a dream of Hans's where he loses his mother and is not able to nuzzle with her. This is conflated with the large widdler he assumes his mother has and his hope that "when I get bigger my widdler will grow too." Freud concludes "that he has constantly made comparisons in the course of his observations and remains deeply dissatisfied with the size of his own widdler. He is reminded of this defect by the big animals, which he dislikes for that reason. Since he is probably unable to become fully conscious of this whole train of thought, the painful feeling is transformed into anxiety, so that his present anxiety builds as much on his earlier pleasure as on his present aversion. When once a state of anxiety has been created, anxiety devours all other feelings; as repression takes its course and those once-conscious ideas to which strong feelings have become attached move more and more into the unconscious mind, all the associated emotions may be transformed into anxiety." The repression to not think about the distressing thoughts is motivated by the desire to stop the anxiety. Reminders in the world that connect back to thoughts of a small widdler, including the memory of the threat of castration by the mother, and more recently his first knowledge that girls have different genitalia, and the possibility that he could be widdler-less like them, creates a phobia over any reminder of inferiority. The horse becomes a trigger for anxiety related to inferiority.
Further questioning led to a memory of a horse collapsing while shopping with this mom. Hans imagined that the horse could both bite him or collapse. Freud interpreted the collapsed horse being the father dying so Hans could take his place, but at the same time there was an ambivalence because he also loves his father. Mixed with memories of seeing children hop up on horse driven carts and onto loading ramps, Hans fantasized a danger of the cart moving away just as he hopped onto one and send him crashing down. The horse, or the father, is the incest barrier to the mother. "Behind the original expression of anxiety, the fear that horses will collapse, and both of these, the biting horse and the falling horse, are the father who will punish him because of the wicked desires he harbours against him."
The End - The Doors: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsQtnBu3p7Y
Freud talked to Hans and laid out the characteristics of the horse compared to his father. "...I offered him a partial interpretation of his fear of horses: his father must be the horse, which he had good internal reason to fear. Certain details that aroused fear in Hans, the black around this mouth and in front of his eyes (moustache and spectacles, the prerogatives of the adult male), seemed to me to have been transferred directly from the father to the horses. With this explanation I vanquished the most powerful resistance in Hans to conscious recognition of his unconscious thoughts, since it was his own father who was taking the role of his physician. From this moment on we had conquered the summit of his condition, the material flowed abundantly, the young patient showed courage in communicating the details of his phobia and soon intervened independently in the course of the analysis."
Fecal birth
The parents finally gave in and provided a basic sexual education talk to Hans. "On 24 April my wife and I enlighten Hans up to a point by explaining that babies grow inside the mummy and then are brought into the world like a 'plop' by pushing them out, and that this causes great pain. In the afternoon we go out in the street. He is clearly much relieved, running after carts and carriages, and his residual anxiety is betrayed only by the fact that he does not dare to venture far away from the main entrance, and cannot be persuaded to go for a longer walk at all." Afterwards Hans showed an interest in being a mummy and having children. He imagined his friends being his children, including an imaginary friend Lodi. His play eventually changed his role to become the father and then eventually he bestowed the honor of grandfather and grandmother to his parents. The heavy weight of the cart being pulled by the horse in Hans's memory had further symbolic significance for Freud. "We learn that Hans used to insist on accompanying his mother to the lavatory and that he did the same thing with Berta, who represented his mother at the time, until this was discovered and forbidden. The pleasure derived from watching a beloved person perform such functions corresponds to the 'confluence of drives' / instincts of which we have already seen one example in Hans's behaviour. Hans's father finally turns his mind to the symbolism of plop, and recognizes an analogy between a heavily laden cart and a body weighed down by faecal matter, between the way a cart drives out of the gateway and the way a stool is released from the body." The birth of the baby is treated as a "plop" like when defecating. By use of imagination towards his parents Hans resolved his conflict with his father and mother. Later after puberty Hans will have to take his dream of being a parent and choose an object outside of the family now that he accepts that different people have to be chosen.
Influence through the power of suggestion
The main controversy with Freud's analysis of Hans is the use of his parents as mediators. Shockingly, Freud opens up a can of worms in his paper that goes even beyond it. He makes the excuse that children are less likely to lie than adults, but his main reservation is damaging. "The analysis of a child by his own father, who is steeped in my theoretical views and tainted with my prejudices, is altogether lacking in objective value. A child is of course suggestible to a very high degree, as regards his father, perhaps, more than any other figure; he will allow any words to be put in his mouth out of gratitude to a father who pays him so much attention." The power of suggestion can hardly be better described than that. It presages Freud's later work and object psychology. The reason why most people have voices in their minds is from the rewards and punishments, the giving and withholding of attention from parents, caregivers and powerful people. It's a form of conditioning where suggestions are imitated by children, and adults, to secure attention from others as a reward. This is a weakness that can be exploited by predators, confidence tricksters, cults and advertising. Any attachment wound or emptiness is open for exploitation. With enough repetition children and adults follow the family culture and the wider culture of the world. Even when the original influences are gone, the conditioning remains in the person, motivating actions unconsciously until these attachment needs are brought to consciousness and healthy sources of satisfaction are pursued. If you want to know why you are talking to people in your mind? It's because you want to get agreement and positive attention from them in real life. Real life requires an unreal world to think in, rehearse and strategize in order to make decisions in the actual world. There are also terrible people imitated in our minds and the mind creates stress as if they are really there. They inhibit our choices and we can become like them if we believe their behaviours are rewarding enough to imitate. This is the dark side we all have to fight with and defeat. The real ghosts are impressions in our mind. A fifth column that doesn't always have your best interest at heart.
Luke Skywalker's vision of himself as Darth Vader: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTcLiEI3Wdg
Cult psychology: https://rumble.com/v1gvih9-cult-psychology.html
Thankfully the observer awareness in meditation can heal these influences, desires for attention, and can help to remove the identification with old cultural habits. It can provide, what Freud would later call the "I" or Ego, opportunities to make choices with a sense of play and authenticity in different directions. When people are conscious of their attachment weaknesses, they are more likely to vet choices and compare them to decide which is better, creating a more independent mind. Any basic meditation pursued for a period of time will have interruptions showing the types of objects imitated in the mind. This includes just being mindful while walking and seeing triggers and memories happen in real time. Being able to breathe through them, relax them and release them will be important to create more independence. The importance of this insight is that cults can appear anywhere there is exploitation. Followers need leaders and leaders need followers. Religious or secular sources of these suggestions that leaders provide, including psychoanalysis, all can fall under cult-like appeals to authority, where a leader is always to be believed and a follower obeys. Watching our attachment wounds and deficits can protect us from predators, especially the friendly looking ones, who are watching from a distance.

what a feeling
Tumblr media
14. “I just can’t help myself when you look like that.”
--
It was supposed to have been a one-time thing, a mistake that neither of you had any intention of repeating. Dan’s New Year’s Eve party had been too loud for Herbert to focus on his work, not that he had been able to do much since there were guests. But he had stayed in the basement rather than join the party, reading textbooks and going over his notes. As you were the third roommate, you were invited to the party, but most of the guests were Dan’s friends, not yours. So you had wandered down to the basement with a bottle of tequila, inviting Herbert to join you in consuming it. He had a weak spot for you, though he would never admit it, so he had accepted your offer. A part of Herbert felt a little smug that you were choosing to be down here with him instead of at the party.
Even before the alcohol had lowered his inhibitions, he had been looking at you more than usual as the two of you sat on the stairs and talked. He was used to seeing you in staid blouses and trousers. But tonight, your skirt showed off most of your fishnet clad legs and your top was tight and showed off your midsection. Herbert couldn’t stop looking at you, whether it was your legs, the swell of your breasts or your red mouth. You didn’t look like you and yet you somehow looked more like you than usual at the same time, which aroused him in ways he could not explain.
After the two of you had polished off a good deal of the bottle, Herbert had been trying to explain how the diluted form of his reagent worked and had wound up tracing a path from your temple to your heart with his finger, not realizing where his hand had gone until it had been resting there for a while. You had been giggling as you had asked “Mr. West, you’re trying to seduce me, aren’t you?” and even as you had kissed him, sliding a hand up his thigh.
As the party guests watched the ball drop in Time’s Square and gave each other New Year’s kisses, the two of you had been screwing against the lab’s door, the noises of your sloppy, drunken sex covered by the festivities.
In the morning, the two of you woke up on the floor of the lab, having made your way down the stairs at some point. Both of you had agreed it was a mistake, an error in judgement. Nothing that had to happen again.
You hadn’t been aroused by what he wore, as Herbert seemed to have dozens of copies of the same outfit. But you had seen him really smile for the first time that night, the usually robotic West replaced by a more human model. Something about seeing him push his glasses up his nose with a smile on his lips did things to you. The way he had looked as he had explained the diluted reagent, how he seemed so delighted as opposed to the usually cold way he explained things, had made you want to kiss him long before his hand had been on your boob.
The two of you lasted less than three weeks before your vow to never do it again was broken. This time, the two of you were sober and home alone. Classes were cancelled due to the severe blizzard and Dan was stuck at Megan’s until it was safe to drive again. You had put on some lipstick to just break up the boredom and had on your most Flashdance looking outfit when Herbert invited you to his room to look over Dr. Gruber’s notes and research, which he had promised to allow you to do the next time both of you were free for an extended period.
You had marveled over the sheer amount that he had, prompting Herbert to start talking about his time with his late mentor. Some fondness had crept into his voice and he was actually smiling as he described how the two of them had worked together to develop the first form of the reagent. So, you had leaned in and kissed him, this time slowly, sensually, without any drunken giggles.
“Why did you do that?” Herbert asked, even as he pulled you onto his lap and ran his hands along your bare thighs.
“I just can’t help myself when you look like that,” you shrugged, cupping his face in your hands.
“Like what?”
“Happy. Human. Alive.”
This time, he kissed you, arms going around your waist. “Well, I find myself unable to resist my own impulses when you’re dressed in something that shows off your legs. And it seems that your red mouth arouses some rather primitive urges in me as well.” Herbert sounded as blunt as ever, even as he slid his hands under your sweatshirt, and you undid his belt.
This time, you slowly rode him, all of your clothes on the floor, a sharp contrast to how the two of you had not taken off a single thing last time. Herbert was happy to watch you, as opposed to trying the take the lead as he did with everything else that he did in life. He was fascinated by the sight of his cock going in and out of you and he wondered how it would look from other angles.
Because this wasn’t going to be just a two-time thing and the both of you knew it.

Have Churches Gone Crazy? By George L. Faull Recently I read of a church that decided to show the Muslims their willingness to learn from “their Muslim brothers”. So they joined them in observance of Ramadan in a fast for peace, fellowship, and neighborliness. Their reasoning was “Since the Bible teaches us the importance of fasting and being generous to the poor, we can participate as Christians in fidelity to the Bible, as our Muslim friends do, in fidelity to the Koran.” Oh, how about this one!! A Theology professor at a Lutheran University, Dr. Herbert Hoover, wants the churches to be more Muslim friendly. He wants us to stop praying in Jesus’ name, stop quoting Paul as an authority, confine ourselves only to the Gospels, avoid calling Jesus the Son of God in our preaching and witnessing, and stop using any kind of music in our services. He wants Muslims to feel comfortable in our “context”. Our church camps, including our local ones, are having “Labyrinth’s” installed. This is a ‘supposed’ prayer journey used by pagans, Catholics, New Agers, and Universalists. It is an old occult practice, but finding its way into the Church. One clergy person said, “God is blessing the use of our labyrinth; many are being drawn closer to Jesus, experiencing healing and gaining Spiritual clarity as they pray on its path!” It is simply a mingling of faiths. It teaches that there is no wrong way but that all paths lead to truth. It will result in an inclusion of all faiths or a universal faith and so is the basis for a great world church. Another church has Santa Claus serve communion to worshippers!!! At an alleged Christian woman’s meeting in the north, they held a celebration to the Goddess Sophia in which their communion element was the milk from women’s breasts. Believe me, the time has come to realize that there is an organized effort to destroy the Church, the Bible and the Christian faith. Many of these things now branded “Christian” are simply copied from ancient paganism, the occult, or New Age philosophy and Universalism. It is an attempt to have a world religion that combines all religions into one universal faith. Do not be deceived. The Restoration of simple New Testament Christianity is the only antidote to this Spiritual sickness.

CANCER DETECTING DYES
Biomaterials:
Biomaterials are organic or artificial materials that may be added into body tissue as a part of an implanted medical device or used as an assist in diagnoses. These are quite useful withinside the discipline of diagnostic medicine. The most important example? Detection of metastatic cancer.
DYES?
Dyes involved in oncology are mainly used to “stain” or “detect” a particular subject for better identification. Dyes are used to detect clots in the heart, veins or even tumours and cancer cells. Dyes are the basis and the reason for the advanced cancer treatments available today.
What is cancer?
When unhealthy and damaged old cells, instead of dying off and giving way to newer healthy ones, grow at an abnormally fast rate, they cause the abnormal growth of tissues, known as tumours. These tumours are when felt on skin, are called as “lumps”. Tumours can be benign or malignant, malignant meaning that the tumour is cancerous. When these tumours, infect another organ, the cancer is said to be a metastatic one.
How dyes can be used against cancer:
Metastatic cancers are lethal. Detecting them sooner decreases their lethality. Dyes are helpful in the diagnosis of metastatic tumour lymph nodes, just how thermal imaging paints everything with the right hue of temperature.
The SLNB procedure:
SLNB, short for Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy, is a surgical procedure used primarily in Breast Cancer and Melanoma diagnosis.
[Sentinel /ˈsɛntɪn(ə)l/ meaning: Guard]
This procedure is used to find out if the cancer has metastasised or not. Sentinel nodes are the first in a train of lymph nodes where the cancer drains, so Sentinel Lymph Nodes are the first lymph nodes where cancer cells might spread from a tumour. The surgeon injects the dye into the blood vessels in contact with the tumour, and then, the lymph nodes that the cancer cells from this tumour might spread to turn blue. Now, the surgeon removes the blue Sentinel Node only and sends them in for pathological testing to find out if any cancerous cells are present. This procedure is only done for patients with Breast Cancer or Melanoma, a cancer found in the cells of skin responsible for the Pigmentation of Melanin. This method is sometimes used for staging penile cancer and endometrial cancer.
Tumblr media
Let us assume the cancer is a train. The tumour is the origin station, so the sentinel lymph node will be the first station the cancer cells spread to. Now, just as the train reaches the first station, the cancer spreads to this sentinel lymph node, and we can check if it has spread by examining the sentinel lymph node. The dye is injected into the blood vessels to localise the sentinel lymph node, then schedule them for removal for testing. The pathologist checks for cancer infection in the sentinel lymph nodes and if it is positive, i.e., cancer cells of the original tumour are present, then the cancer has metastasised, and further treatment is decided. This test is very crucial in the treatment of cancer and is only possible because of the dyes.
DYES USED IN SLNB procedures:
Major dyes used in SLNB procedures are Evans Blue and Trypan Blue.
Evans blue:
Evans Blue is a bis-azo dye that has a good affinity for serum albumin (blood plasma found in the vertebrae). Because of this, it can be useful in detecting lymph nodes, the primary centres for blood plasma filtration. Since the lymph node contains this blood plasma, the Evans Blue in addition to Patent Blue, also known as Isosulfan Blue, stains the lymph node blue. Evans Blue fluoresces with excitation peaks at 470 and 540 nm and an emission peak at 680 nm. Evans Blue is also used to test the health of the Blood-brain barrier, a barrier that ensures that no plasma flows through the brain. If parts of the brain do become stained due to the dye, it means that the blood-brain barrier has been compromised. The dye was founded by an American Anatomist, Herbert McLean Evans. The dye was later marketed by The Eastman Kodak Company as Evans Blue, the name that got widely accepted globally.
Trypan blue:
Trypan blue is also an azo-based dye. In diagnostic medicine, it is a vital stain to colour the dead tissues or cells with compromised cell membranes blue. The Trypan Blue Dye cannot penetrate cell membranes, therefore only enters cells with abnormal or compromised membranes. Trypan Blue Dye is sensitive to some proteins like the *HER2 or **RAS family of genes, thus staining them blue upon contact.
*HER2: a special protein that is responsible for cancer growth and spread. Found in breast and ovarian cancer cells usually.
**RAS family of genes: responsible for the proteins in control of the cell communication pathways, cell death, and cell growth.
Chemical properties:
Trypan Blue and Evans Blue are closely related. They both have the same chemical formula, though their structures are different. Their uses, too, vary. While Evans Blue is used as lymph node tracer, Trypan Blue is used as a tracer for detecting compromised cell membranes or special cancer proteins.
Tumblr media
Evans Blue
Tumblr media
Trypan Blue
Both are non-toxic due to the small dosage administered.
Trypan Blue is slightly alkaline. This enables it to have an increased rate of staining. In the presence of another anionic dye with smaller molecules (like picric acid), trypan blue gets selective for collagen. Evan's blue also has comparable properties since they are closely related.
Downsides:
The major disadvantage of Evans blue and the Trypan blue dyes is that the spectral absorption peak lies in the visible region of the spectrum where reduced haemoglobin also has its maximum spectral absorption. To avoid interference between the dyes and haemoglobin, the patients must breathe oxygen.
Further research:
Researches are being conducted to make cancer detection as minimally invasive as possible.
Dr. Singhal, MD at Penn Medicine, took the initiative to exploit dyes for intraoperative uses. TumorGlowTM, a patented dye method, uses ICG, short for Indocyanine Green, as a dye. When the dye is pumped into the patient through an IV in high doses a day before surgery, the tumours and lymph nodes glow in green when IR rays are incident on them. This makes way for precision and clarity to remove tumours, in the minimally invasive approach, because it paints all the tumours in fluorescent green.
Dyes have been an extensive resource in the field of diagnostic medicine. More breakthroughs are likely on their way, making a diagnosis as minimally invasive as possible.

SUMMARY At University of Zurich Institute of Medicine in Switzerland, Herbert West brings his dead professor, Dr. Hans Gruber, back to life. There are horrific side-effects, however; as West explains, the dosage was too large. When accused of killing Gruber, West counters: “I gave him life!”
Tumblr media
West arrives at Miskatonic University in New England in order to further his studies as a medical student. He rents a room from fellow medical student Dan Cain and converts the building’s basement into his own personal laboratory. West demonstrates his reanimating reagent to Dan by reanimating Dan’s dead cat Rufus. Dan’s fiancée Megan Halsey, daughter of the medical school’s dean, walks in on this experiment and is horrified. Dan tries to tell the dean about West’s success in reanimating the dead cat, but the dean does not believe him. When Dan insists, the dean infers that Dan and West have gone mad. Barred from the school, West and Dan sneak into the morgue to test the reagent on a human subject in an attempt to prove that the reagent works, and thereby salvage their medical careers. The corpse they inject comes back to life, but in a frenetic and violent zombie-like state. Dr. Halsey stumbles upon the scene and, despite attempts by both West and Dan to save him, he gets killed by the reanimated corpse, which West then kills with a bone-saw. Unfazed by the violence and excited at the prospect of working with a freshly dead specimen, West injects Dr. Halsey’s body with his reanimating reagent. Dr. Halsey returns to life, also in a psychotic, zombie-like state. Megan chances upon the scene, and is nearly hysterical. Meanwhile, Dan collapses in shock.
Tumblr media
Dr. Halsey’s colleague Dr. Carl Hill, a professor and researcher at the hospital, takes charge of Dr. Halsey, whom he puts in a padded observation cell adjacent to his office. He carries out a surgical operation on him, lobotomizing him. During the course of this operation, he discovers that Dr. Halsey is not sick, but dead and reanimated. Dr. Hill goes to West’s basement lab and attempts to blackmail him into surrendering his reagent and notes, hoping to take credit for West’s discovery. West offers to demonstrate the reagent and puts a few drops of it onto a microscope slide with dead cat tissue. As Dr. Hill peers through the microscope at this slide, West clobbers him from behind with a shovel, and then decapitates him, snarling “plagiarist!” as he drives the blade of the shovel through Dr. Hill’s neck. West then reanimates Dr. Hill’s head and body separately. While West is questioning Dr. Hill’s head and taking notes, Dr. Hill’s body sneaks up behind him and knocks him unconscious. The body carries the head back to Dr. Hill’s office, with West’s reagent and notes.
Tumblr media
In his re-animated state, Dr. Hill acquires the ability to control other re-animated corpses telepathically, after conducting brain surgery on them. He then directs Dr. Halsey to snatch Megan away from Dan. While being carried to the morgue by her reanimated father, Megan faints. When she arrives, Dr. Hill strips her naked and straps her unconscious body to a table. She regains consciousness as Hill begins to sexually abuse her, including touching her breasts and placing his bloody severed head between her legs. West and Dan track Halsey to the morgue. West distracts Dr. Hill while Dan frees Megan. Dr. Hill reveals that he has reanimated and lobotomized several corpses from the morgue, rendering them susceptible to mind control as Halsey is. However, Megan’s voice reawakens a protectiveness in her father, who then fights off the other corpses long enough for Dan and Megan to escape. In the ensuing chaos, West injects Dr. Hill’s body with a lethal overdose of the reagent. Dr. Hill’s body mutates rapidly and attacks West, who screams out to Dan to save his work before being pulled away by Dr. Hill’s mutated entrails.
Tumblr media
Dan retrieves the satchel containing West’s reagent and notes. As Dan and Megan flee the morgue, one of the reanimated corpses attacks and strangles Megan. Dan takes her to the hospital emergency room and tries to revive her, but she is quite dead. In despair, he injects her with West’s reagent. As the scene fades to black, Megan, apparently revived, can be heard screaming.
DEVELOPMENT When thinking of the sort of person who would have written a movie as bloody and outlandish as The Re-Animator, one might not immediately think of someone who teaches literature at a New York college but that’s exactly what screenwriter Dennis Paoli does for a living when not working on film scripts. Paoli has worked on and off with Re-Animator director Stuart Gordon since their high school days in Chicago, collaborating on projects that have ranged from comedy skits to a stage version of the hero epic Beowolf. By the time Gordon and William Norris contacted Paoli about the idea of collaborating on a Lovecraft script, Paoli’s academic pursuits had primed him for a venture into the bizarre.
youtube
Paoli says that he was originally brought onto the project as “the Gothic consultant,” because at the time he was working on his PHD in 18th and 19th century Gothic fiction. Paoli found that his knowledge of this style of literature could be applied to the task of adapting that latter-day Gothic H.P. Lovecraft. “The Gothics’ Paoli says, ” were the first kind of novels written. It’s very strange what’s happened to them. On the one hand, when you say Gothics you think of these current formula romances, but in their time, the first Gothics were the experimental novels. They would try anything to tell a story. They strove for effect, to have an immediate and violent effect on the reader. So they were banned in many places. In the House of Commons in England they called for a stop to romances, especially Gothic romances, because they were believed to be corruptive-just the same argument you get today.”
The Gothic-style source material for The Re-Animator was a series of six grisly stories by Lovecraft revolving around the mad scientist Herbert West. In a quest to conquer death, West concocts a serum that can re-animate dead bodies. The serum produces macabre results and West spends six stories refining his ghastly experiment.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
At first The Re-Animator was envisioned as a series of 13 half-hour episodes to be produced for either syndicated or cable TV. Once an outline was drawn up, Paoli says that William Norris wrote the first half-hour pilot, but then the collaborators found that there seemed to be more interest in an hour show that might be included in an already existing anthology series. Paoli expanded the script to an hour, and then went on to expand it again to an hour and-a-half when prospects arose to produce the story as a feature film.
Adapting Lovecraft to create a violent, Gothic effect on screen has its problems, says Paoli, which may account for the mediocrity of previous Lovecraft films. One problem, says Paoli, is that most of the author’s stories were written in the first person; in the case of the Herbert West stories, the narrator is Dan Cain, West’s reluctant assistant. “Most movies,” explains Paoli, “aren’t made that way. It’s very difficult to get across the first-person point of view unless you use a lot of voice-over narration, but then that distances you from the screen. You don’t get that immediate effect”
Another problem concerns the nature of Lovecraft’s horror. “Lovecraft’s people have seen something that has changed them, that has twisted them, that has ruined their lives or made them mad. In the stories, all you get is the reactions to the horror. You do get some descriptions, actually some quite vivid descriptions, but they’re always made more vivid by your own imagination. On film, you have to show these horrifying things, these things that the narrators see which make them mad, and you’re under the obligation, in a way, to make your audience mad. That is an awful obligation for a filmmaker.” In the past this has been an area in which Lovecraft pictures have really fallen apart. Anyone who has been subjected to the endless psychedelic shots from the point of view of the monster in The Dunwich Horror can attest to that. In The Re-Animator, though, the graphic horror is displayed-in spades. “Because we have reached a period now where you can be explicit, it allowed us to show these bloody events without cutting away or suggesting them off-camera. You have to take that excessive route,” adds Paoli.

PRE-PRODUCTION Producer Brian Yuzna describes the original story and the way it was adapted to the screen. “H.P. Lovecraft’s story takes place at Miskatonic University at the turn of the century,” he says. “It has a very grisly, dark kind of feeling to it. The medical students there are digging up the dead and bringing the dead back to life. It goes on and on. It’s a kind of serial. These guys grow up and it just continues and continues.
The director selected for the project was Stuart Gordon, a theatrical director from Chicago who has written and produced some 25 plays including play versions of Sirens of Titan and Huckleberry Finn. He did a three-part science-fiction play to be performed on three consecutive nights, called Warp, which went on to Broadway and later became a comic book. He also directed the original version of the play E.R., which later became a television series starring Elliott Gould.
Yuzna describes Gordon as a “very talented guy and a real horror fanatic.” H.P. Lovecraft’s Re-Animator will mark his directorial film debut. Remarks Yuzna, “Stuart is such a talented director, though he had some trouble adapting to film because he really knew very little about the mechanics of filmmaking, but he’s an incredibly fast learner and he’s a very, very talented director of actors.” According to Yuzna, the production has aimed for “the sort of shock sensibility of an Evil Dead with the production values of, hopefully, The Howling.”
youtube
BEHIND THE SCENES/INTERVIEWS Robert Sampson, who plays Dean Halsey in the film, had some personal experience in what it’s like playing a zombie. He describes the film as “the most fun ! ever had going on to explain that it allowed him to indulge in the wildest fantasies I’ve ever had as a child, of scaring people, of doing all those things that I wasn’t allowed to see when I was a kid. I was not allowed to see the scary Frankenstein movies and all that stuff. My parents were afraid that it might do a number on me, so I would sneak out to go see them. And now I’ve had the opportunity to do one. I did a Twilight Zone and a One Step Beyond that were similar to this, but they weren’t as rich, as thought out.”
Halsey goes on to describe what happened when a corpse was injected with the re-agent. “They inject it at the base of the skull, and what it does is, it’s like sticking your finger in a light socket. You just go Ahhh! There isn’t any control. You turn into just this mad, re-animated thing.
“There’s a scene where I’m in a padded cell, and I have a strait jacket on, and my daughter doesn’t understand what’s happened to me. So she is standing there talking to this evil doctor standing behind this one-way mirror. It’s a mirror on my side and a window on his side, and he’s trying to seduce her. Heturns and looks and can’t find me at all. All of a sudden, I’m gone. But, as he’s making a move for her, I bang my head against the window. Now I don’t know why I’m doing this, but I still have a sense of feeling. The timing of it is so weird, because I just come up and bam!
“Stuart Gordon has this off-the-wall sense of humor that I didn’t even know was there until I went to see the first dailies. I was shocked by his macabre sense of humor, but it comes out of the reality of the situation. He has everybody playing it very serious, and the humor comes out of these seemingly normal people in this bizarre circumstances.”
Tumblr media
“What this film is about is conquering death. I mean, Herbert West’s dream is something that all doctors have shared, and that is to prolong life as long as you possibly can. It used to be believed that when your heart stopped, you were dead. Now they have drugs like epinephrine which is an adrenaline derivative which can start the heart after it’s stopped. They use fibulators and electric shock to make the heart start again, so now the stopping of the heart does not necessarily mean you’re dead. Now what they’re calling death is defined as ‘brain death, which happens six to 12 minutes after the heart stops.
“West is trying to conquer brain death. What he is trying to do is prolong that six or 12 minutes as long as he possibly can so that a person who has died, even though their brain has never received any blood or oxygen, he can be brought back. His attitude is the same as any doctor’s, that it’s better to save a life even if it means the person is going to be debilitated, than to let the person die. Even if there is brain damage, it’s still better to have that person living than dead, so under that philosophy, his approach is medically correct.”
Gordon hopes that while watching these bizarre, bloody experiments, audiences will get involved with the film’s characters. “I’ve seen many horror films where you don’t care about anybody, and that to me sort of sinks the film. If you’re not afraid for someone, you’re not afraid. It’s important. I think that one of the things that we’ve really got going for us is that we really have some wonderful actors in this film who are giving spectacular performances. When things happen to them, I think the audience is going to really care, and they’re going to really feel bad about alot of it-and horrified.”
Tumblr media
SPECIAL EFFECTS A tall order, to be sure, especially since the budget is estimated to be just under a million dollars, far less than most of the other competitors in the zombie-film field. But then, Yuzna expects Re-Animator to be an energetic film. Unlike most movie zombies, the living dead in this film are not slow, shambling creatures. The re-animating fluid Lovecraft imagined is a sort of super-adrenaline, and so the living dead are almost supercharged. In fact, one of the opening makeup effects, devised by John Buechler, is a Cronenbergian eye-popping caused by overdosing a corpse with too much of the serum.
youtube
While Buechler was called in to handle the exploding head, plus an articulated version of a re-animated decapitated noggin, and three special corpses in Dr. Hill’s zombie army, the main effects chores in the film were handled by Tony Doublin (mechanical) and John Naulin (makeup). Naulin has gone from managing the Shop of 1,000 Faces on the Universal Studios Tour to being manager of research and development at Don Post Studios for several years, and has since been teaching makeup and working on projects related to the entertainment industry including working on the Stilsuits for Dune. He headed a makeup crew which included Gerald Quist, John Criswell, Therese Shirley, Dana Ginzberg, Richard Davison, Jeff Seigal, Julie Manegers, Melonie Cleric and Richard McGuire.
Tumblr media
Unlike the simple gray pallor that the undead have in many flicks, Re-Animator has some rather colorful zombies. John Naulin describes how this look came about. “Stuart, the director, had some disgusting shots brought out from the Cook County morgue of all kinds of different lividities and different corpses. We sat down with that and with a book of forsenic pathology, and picked about eight or nine special colors that are not normally available with the makeups that we were using, and we had the makeup lab mix up some custom colors for us,” he said. “The corpses in this film will reflect how a corpse actually looks once the blood has settled in the body.” (After death, gravity causes blood to pool in the lowest portions of the body which in turn creates a variety of odd skin tones.)
When we ask Naulin how he would describe the effects in this film, he replies, “Moist. This is the bloodiest film 1 have ever worked on. I’ve been mixing up the blood on this film, and in the past I don’t think I ever used more than a couple of gallons of blood on a single film, but on this one, when we’re done, we’ll have used 24 gallons.
“So far the stuff looks real good. We had some of our crewmembers that couldn’t make it through some of the screenings, let’s put it that way. What especially got them was the scene where David Gale, who plays the zombiefied Dr. Hill, gets his head cut off with a shovel. I don’t think this has ever been done where somebody, on camera, has a shovel shoved through a live actor’s head and there’s a live body that is still moving and kicking, and then the head rolls off, and it’s still moving.”
Tumblr media
The headless Dr. Hill zombie was the biggest challenge in the film. Explains Naulin, “Most times somebody loses their head in a film, you see maybe a 100 frames of it and it’s gone. We’ve got to carry 50 pages of it.” The effect was achieved a number of ways, most of which were designed by Tony Doublin. Doublin explains that the problem wasn’t “so much the body being headless, but the fact that you always run into the problem of what you do with the nine or 10 inches you lose when you lose somebody’s head. If you go up with the shoulders, the crotch and the arms become all distorted, and all the proportions go to hell. I’d seen The Dark where this guy’s head was pulled off, and it looked like a midget in a fiberglass body, but it didn’t stumble around quite as badly. Each scene we had to use a different technique! One technique that proved quite effective was building an upper torso that an actor could bend over and stick his head through so that his head appeared to be the head that the walking corpse was carrying around.
To keep Hill’s head alive, it frequently sits in a pan of blood to get its blood supply replenished. This required numerous scenes where David Gale had to sit with his head sticking up into a bloody pan while blood dribbled down the cracks in the opening. While this effect proved simple to do, it was quite un comfortable for the actor. Well, nobody said Hollywood was all glamour.
youtube
The big climax necessitated the most work. The various undead in Dr. Hill’s zombie army had to be made up, plus effects rigged not only for Dr. Hill, but also exploding veins (caused by an overdose of the serum) and burn effects. In addition, there were Buechler’s three special corpses: one of a motorcycle accident victim who looked like he skid for awhile; a failed operation that had been stuck in a body bag without the doctors bothering to remove the hospital tubes or put his guts back into his abdomen; and a third corpse, nicknamed “Gesundheit,” which was supposedly the victim of a close range shotgun blast at the back of his head which blew off the front of his face and left a gaping orifice which has hardened and dried.

Light Deficiency as a Cause of Cancer
Tumblr media
If a lack of light is a cause of cancer it means that light and vitamin D can be used to treat cancer. We all know that too much sun can cause cancer, we cannot bake and burn ourselves to a crisp without consequences. However, a lack of sunlight can also cause cancer. Vitamin D deficiencies (lack of light) can lead to the development of prostate and breast cancer, memory loss, and an increased risk for developing dementia and schizophrenia. That’s the short list. Vitamin D deficiency and a lack of sun exposure takes its toll in most pathology in an insidious way, not only because of the lack of D, a crucial hormone, (it really is not a vitamin), but because of a lack of several important aspects of sunlight.
Plants love to turn toward the light, they stretch for it, and so do we. Light, heat, color, warmth, energy, electrons, electricity, electromagnetism all interact with the water that is in us bringing increased energy and ATP production. Light literally animates us because we are light. We need light.
All living cells of plants, animals and human beings emit bio-photons, which cannot be seen by the naked eye, but can be measured by special equipment. This light emission is an expression of the functional state of the living organism and its measurement therefore can be used to assess this state. Cancer cells and healthy cells of the same type can be discriminated by differences in bio-photon emission.
Light is essential, it is the backbone of life and as such can be used as a potent medicine. Though most research about sunlight’s beneficial effects and its relationship to cancer is centered on vitamin D levels that is only the beginning of light as a medicine story. In my new book Conquering Cancer, I will focus on the D3, the mitochondria and light story and other things about light that are important for cancer patients to know and understand. For now it should be understood that vitamin D levels in the blood are a direct effect of sun exposure unless one is supplementing with D3.
”It seems clear that light is the most important environmental input, after food, in controlling bodily function,” reported Dr. Richard J. Wurtman, a nutritionist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. “Sometimes I get the impression my dermatologist colleagues would be happiest if we lived in caves,” continues Wurtman, who recommends daily 20-minute walks at noon to get the sunlight we need.
“Sunlight dominates the chemistry of the blood. People who do not get sunlight do not have the same richness and redness of blood as do those who secure plenty of sunlight. There is not a tissue nor a function in the body that is not benefited by regular and judicious sun-bathing,” writes Herbert M. Shelton, author of Fasting and Sun Bathing.
Tumblr media
In the 1900’s, research by Augusta Rollier led to the establishment of solaria buildings designed to optimize exposure to sunlight throughout Switzerland for the express purpose of sunbathing, which provided impressive results for fighting tuberculosis, smallpox, lupus, and even chronic diseases like arthritis.
Today cancer patients have options to harness the power of light to increase not only plasma D levels, but also other parameters of health and cellular function. Healthy sun exposure if possible (getting a little pink each day), high dosages of D3 supplementation and LED Red Light Therapy (Photobiomodulation) are the options we have to address light deficiencies as well as our cancer.
Photobiomodulation – Intense Red Light Therapy
Tumblr media
The Science of Light Therapy began to gain broader recognition in 2001, when NASA first discovered that red and near infrared light have strong cellular regenerating effects. (Whelan, 2001) Red and near infrared light are able to penetrate deeply into our tissues and cells and influence the activation of our mitochondria. Hundreds of studies sustain the idea that Photobiomodulation (PBM) is a dose dependent technology, when properly used, can deliver profound effects on a wide variety of conditions. This is different than far-infrared and Hyperthermic Oncology.
Tumblr media
Medical scientists themselves are suggesting that now is the time to lose the fear of exacerbating cancer by shining light on cancer. PBM increases cell death in cancer cells in response to cytotoxic stimuli. It also can kill them by pumping up mitochondrial production of ADP in both cancer and healthy cells. PBM therapy is already being used to mitigate the side-effects of cancer therapy with research showing that light can directly damage tumors, can potentiate other cancer therapies, and can stimulate patients’ immune systems.
“Cancer is helped by sunbathing. Those who get more sunlight have less cancer. Sunbathing heals cancer by building up the immune system and increasing the oxygen in the tissues. Sunlight does not cause skin cancer unless one suffers through chronic sunburn,” writes Dr. Zane R. Kime, author of Sunlight could Save Your Life.
Tumblr media
LED Red Light Therapy is a good answer because one can usually reach maximum exposure with these new types of light beds in ten minutes or less. In a short period of time they can deliver profound effects to our cells. There is no ultraviolet light to burn the skin. However best results for cancer patients would probably be a combination of high dose D3 supplementation with LED light therapy but one should never neglect real sun exposure to receive full spectrum light.
For a number of reasons, most of us find it challenging to spend hours in the sun—at the right time of day—on a regular basis. Either we live in an area with limited sunlight for large portions of the year, or our busy schedules just don’t allow for more time in the sun. In fact, it’s estimated that Americans spend 93% of their time indoors.
If one wants health or to recover from cancer and make sure it does not reoccur, make a religion of going out into the sun without sunscreen protectors. However, for fast results, see if there is a practitioner near you with a LED Red Light Therapy bed in your area. The two different companies that have machines have practitioner search pages here and here. For optimal high dose vitamin D supplementation see here.
The Sun – Magnesium – Vitamin D
Magnesium deficiency is often misdiagnosed because it does not show up in blood tests – only 1% of the body’s magnesium is stored in the blood.
The body cannot use vitamin D in a magnesium deficient body. Magnesium facilitates the release of calcium from the bones in the presence of adequate amounts of vitamin D and parathormone. Standard textbooks state that the principal function of vitamin D is to promote calcium absorption in the gut and calcium transfer across cell membranes, thus contributing to strong bones and a calm, contented nervous system. It is also well recognized that vitamin D aids in the absorption of magnesium, iron and zinc, as well as calcium.
Magnesium is at the center of life’s ability to absorb light and change its electromagnetic energy into organic chemical energy. Cancer patients need light and they need magnesium.
Get Light and Vitamin D on your side.
Dr. Pamela Goodwin and colleagues retrospectively analyzed more than 500 women over a period of 11 years. Results: Women who had been deficient in vitamin D at the time of their breast cancer diagnosis were 73% more likely to die from breast cancer than those with sufficient vitamin D at the time of diagnosis, as well as being almost twice as likely to have recurrence over the 11-year period. What more evidence do doctors need for them to start recommending sunlight and or vitamin D to their patients? (See much more about this in a later chapter.)
Dr. Goodwin’s study and many others like it sustain the idea that both light itself and vitamin D should be included in every cancer patients protocol. Oncologists though would rather use the nastiest form of radiation in cancer treatment and diagnosis. They are like blind men who reject the healing healthy light in favor or near lethal dosages of nuclear radiation.
Conclusion
According to a scientific article in “Health & Diet Times” (June/July 1982 issue) written by Dr. Lee de Vries, MD, cancer cells self-destruct within minutes after exposure to strong intense light. What happens is that the cancerous PLANT cell changes its formaldehyde into a plant sugar molecule giving off oxygen-ozone in the process and it is this element combination of O2 and O3 which causes the disintegration of the cancer cell. There are many articles that suggest that light can directly damage tumors, can potentiate other cancer therapies, and can stimulate the host immune system.[1]
We are light, we need light, we love light so soak up the light. If you wait until all doctors agree on the value of light in cancer treatment it’s a good bet you’re be long dead from cancer or even from natural causes. Light is ‘bioactive,’ meaning light is absorbed by and affect the functioning of human cells. Light is an essential nutrient for cellular health.
Because we are the light of this world, as it says in the bible, we can use light to save our lives and live longer and prosper. Without the sun’s heat and light, the earth would be a lifeless ball of ice-coated rock. The sun warms our seas, stirs our atmosphere, generates our weather patterns, and gives energy to the growing green plants that provide the food and oxygen for life.
Light does the same to our cells so it is the basis of our health along with water, hydrogen, oxygen and CO2. So to ‘let your light shine before men’ one has to stand in the light and absorb that light. The truth is that, the majority of Americans and their doctors have been tricked into believing that the sun is somehow toxic, a carcinogen, and an overall deadly health hazard that should be avoided at all costs. This is why most of us slather ourselves in toxic chemicals in sunscreen every time we plan to go outside. These chemicals get absorbed directly into our bloodstreams where they do not do us any good.
For Practitioners
Tumblr media
Photobiomodulation therapy (PBM) offers practitioners of all types a new way of helping their patients in a timely efficient manner. Good medicine does make good business. Any kind of practitioner can employ this technology and even beauty parlors could get in on this for it is excellent for the skin. Sports medicine is already employing PBM because it increases athletic performance and healing. Practitioners could top out at 40 sessions a day per light booth so the revenue can be quite high. Sports. This kind of technology certainly belongs in corporate health programs. In searching for a practitioner near you both principle companies that make top end equipment were included. However, it seems that the TheraLight models are superior and certainly more economical. That said these light beds are extremely expensive unless one is going to expand one’s practice or make a business using them. TheraLight models start at 50,000 and go up to 75,000. NovaThor starts at 120,000 and reaches as high as 140,000.
Tumblr media
A more cost affective option to transmit the same wavelengths of light come from another company. For home use or even clinical use PlatinumLED’s new BIOMAX lights feature a patent pending R+ | NIR+ spectrum which merges five different wavelengths of red and near infra-red light: 630nm, 660nm, 810nm, 830nm and 850nm. Both R+ and NIR+ spectrum arrays are used in conjunction with one another. The result is a superior LED therapy light that powerfully penetrates through skin, muscle and connective tissue, promoting healing and cellular regeneration all the way to and through the bone.
Not only will these targeted and combined frequencies stimulate the mitochondria they will reach deep into the body at a cost extremely less than what you will see with more expensive light beds. We are talking about prices for a strong full body system would start at 1,500 but one could expand and increase that to 3,200. However, for localized topical treatment one can start for as little as 400 dollars.
Special Note to Oncologists
Tumblr media
Twenty-five years ago Dr John Ott investigated the background to a report that children at a school in Illinois had five times the national rate of leukemia. He found that all the pupils who developed leukemia had been in two particular classrooms. In these two rooms the teachers always kept the large curtains completely drawn across the windows to reduce glare and distraction, and to keep the children’s attention on schoolwork.
The day will come when using cancer causing nuclear radiation at near fatal dosages to treat cancer will be considered barbaric. Using harmful radiation for diagnosis is also exposing patients to more cancer causing toxicity. When will mainstream oncologists see the light and begin to use healthy healing types of radiation for both diagnosis and treatment? The spirit in which my writings on light and the development of a powerful natural protocol for cancer is written with the hope of eventually seeing the end of toxic chemotherapy and radiation in the practice of medicine. Does anyone think humanity will actually miss these brutal therapies? Do oncologists think there will never be a better way and that we are stuck with these therapies for eternity?

If smut prompts are still up, older Herbert West with 70) Love your writing btw 💖
I changed the wording a bit to fit the story that wound up being written, which I hope is alright!
70)  "Say my name over and over again and, once you think you’ve said it loud enough, scream it. I want the whole neighborhood to know who’s making you feel good.”
The coolness of the metal table was a vivid contrast to your heated skin. The straps that bound your wrists to the table slightly dug into your tender flesh and it felt like they were rubbing against the bones when you moved too quickly. You were doing your best to remain still, but it wasn’t easy. Especially when Dr. West was looming over you, trying to examine you.
The latest batch of the diluted form of his reagent had been tested on the both of you today. Almost right away, both of you had been able to tell that something had gone wrong. Both of you had started feeling rather…hot. In a literal sense. Everything felt more sensitive and your heartrates had started to speed up.  You had started to giggle and when he had tried to help you up, you had moaned, your skin oddly sensitive to the touch. It wasn’t painful, not exactly. But you had needed to be strapped down in order for anything to get done. You were breathing heavily as you tried not to react to the flood of sensations coursing through you.
Though by now, it was clear that Herbert wasn’t immune to the side effects of his own serum. Like you, his breathing was heavier, and his pupils were extremely dilated. His usually steady hands were trembling as he put on his stethoscope. You couldn’t see it, but his trousers had started to…tighten. He leaned over you, one hand on the bell and diaphragm of the stethoscope and the other resting on your hip. “Your heart rate is…” Herbert needed a moment to collect himself. “Rapid, but not quite tachycardic.” His fingers slid under the fabric of your shirt, curling around your hipbone.
“Good, good,” you murmured. Herbert began to pull his hand back from your chest, the palm of his hand running over your breast. His hand only lingered for a moment, but he could feel the hardened nub and in turn, you could feel the warmth and firmness of his palm. “It hurts…”
“What hurts?” Herbert asked, his grip on your hip tightening.
“Maybe hurts isn’t the right word. I just feel…I just feel…” The pulsing between your legs was strong, insistent. You were tingling, every nerve alight. You were wet, your thighs clenching the best that they could in your position. “It’s like I’m hungry.”
“But it isn’t for food,” Herbert finished your sentence, making you nod eagerly. His erections pulsed and throbbed, even in the confines of his trousers. He could feel pre-jaculate leaking from the tip, his testes swelling as his arousal increased. He began to withdraw his hand from your hip, the feeling of running his hand along your skin causing you to moan lewdly, the sound making his cock practically jump in response.
“We can’t…can we?” You knew the answer, both of you did. Herbert was a professor and while you weren’t his TA anymore, you were still a student. A grad student, but still a student. Your field of study fell under the same department he taught in. It was against so many codes of conduct. But that hadn’t stopped either of you from fantasizing, especially once you had become a part of Herbert’s personal research projects.
“No.” Herbert’s disappointment and arousal managed to come through with one simple word, his hands gripping the edge of the table. “There would be consequences if I acted on my current impulses.”
“Which are…?” You needed to know, even if nothing could happen.
Herbert adjusted the height of table so that you were more upright and stepped between your legs. You could feel him throbbing and twitching against your center and you had to bite your lower lip to stay silent. “To relieve my tension by being inside of you. To spread your legs and mount you right here and now.”
You moved your hips slightly, rubbing against his clothes length. “I want you to say my name over and over again and, once you think you’ve said it loud enough, scream it.” You nodded eagerly; your hands clenched into fists so tightly that your knuckles were turning white. Neither of you were moving much, if at all, but the serum’s side effects made what was happening more than enough. “The whole neighborhood would know who’s making you feel good. And only when you couldn’t take it anymore, I’d fill you with my seed.”
One final moan and a slight movement was all you needed. Your screams might not have been loud enough for the neighbors to hear, but they filled the basement, soon joined by Herbert’s softer, but still audible gasps and moans.
Later, when his mind was clear and you were gone, Herbert would be unable to conclude whether or not today’s experiments had been a success or failure, that day’s entry uncharacteristically vague.

MBMPTS (MADAMEBUFORDMARGOLISPENNYWEATHER’STURQUOISESAFARI)
Madame Buford Margolis Pennyweather stood upon the seat of her jeep with one shinyblack bootheel pliered against the steering wheel. A brick floored the gas pedal, her hazel eye penetrated the sight of an elephant gun, and she fired! The jeep jumped the grainy fortress of an anthill, and the thick black tires flew across the blue savannah sky.
Meanwhile her prey crashed to the ground in a heap of hooves and feathers. The huntress leapt from her vehicle and ran, blonde hair flying as she tore off goggles and pith helmet.
“By Jupiter!” she swore, “I have tarred your hide at last, A-HA!”
She kicked the thing in its six- foot ribs. Her jeep went galloping westward, a brick its sole navigator. The beast shuddered and heaved watery cud into the soil; blood matted its turquoise feathers.
With eyes rolling back in her head, Madame Pennyweather slapped a hand over her breast and began singing the national anthem, gun hanging flaccid, until the press gathered in a sudden throng of khaki.
Some were whites sunburnt to a salmon color; most were zulu men with notepads blank and ready. Others hefted boom microphones, which they positioned above the great huntress's golden beehive crown. Had Madam Buford been more familiar with the journalists of the Serengeti, she might have noticed the presence of  an environmentalist muckraker, M. Umbiru.
“Flash photography prohibited!” Madame Margolis barked before ever a camera was raised. “My address will conclude with a question-and-answer session--keep silence until then if you PLEASE.”
With that she began a brief seminar on the Zambizi Peacock Zebra, the last psychedelic megafauna still roaming the Savannah. Cameras followed the gesture and snap of her riding crop which tapped at the horns, pulled back the equine lips, and jabbed the muscular hindquarters of the dying equine. Madame Pennyweather noted that the flanks were an oft-overlooked part of the elusive creature.
“I enjoy mine grilled with an orange chutney and a bottle of claret!” she said, and guffawed. There was no response from the audience.
“A reminder,” Madam Pennyweather said, “you are permitted to break the enforced silence in order to laugh at jokes. I’ll take questions.”
Hesitation. One woman in the front let out one anxious titter.
“Questions!” Madame Pennyweather shouted.
The press made a few anatomical, zoological, and logistical queries. Madame Pennyweather answered.
Somebody asked what had become of her jeep.
“Plenty more where that came from!” the huntress boomed, “who's next?”
She called on a woman at the back who had held one rose-white palm upward for ten minutes. It was M. Umbiru. The renowned author was pretty, with tiny features and close cropped hair. She glanced at her notepad and when she spoke, her voice was cool as water.
“Madame Pennyweather, your father, the renowned naturalist Dr. Herbert Buford Pennyweather--”
“Yes?” the huntress asked. She barred the the low orange bake of the sun from her eyes, and squinted at the woman in the back.
“I spoke to several of your father’s colleagues,” the reporter said. “They claim that, in his final months, your father paid several million pounds to ensure his soul's migration into the body of a Peacock Zebra. Do you know anything about this? Is there a connection between this and your increasing efforts to collect these trophies?”
The huntress suppressed a groan that burst into laughter.
“Ivory-tower wankers!” she cried. “Questions are closed. Good evening, and God Save the Queen!”
As the journalists dispersed. Pennyweather brandished her riding crop above her head and shouted the chorus of the national anthem, milling about  as the press collapsed tripods, lit cigarettes, and spoke in a medley of tonal languages. One suggested going to the discotheque. Another had to pick up his daughter from cricket practice in five minutes. They drove off in a pack of jeeps and battered vans.
The last western light trickled over the grassland. Madame B. M. Pennyweather stood alone with the corpse of her trophy. She knew that the lorry from the museum would not arrive for at least a half an hour, and with that buffer, she allowed herself to caress one of its beastly ears, weep quietly into the feathers, and honk her nose on a hankie, monogrammed H.B.P.

What to Expect from a Vampire Breast Lift
New Post has been published on https://respectyourhealth.eu/what-to-expect-from-a-vampire-breast-lift/
What to Expect from a Vampire Breast Lift
The Vampire Breast Lift ™ is an exciting new non-surgical technique for subtly enhancing the breasts.
For women seeking to improve the appearance of their breasts without invasive surgical procedures, the Vampire Breast Lift offers a unique treatment option that can provide dramatic results with a minimally invasive procedure and almost zero recovery time.
The non surgical breast lift can be used to achieve a more pronounced cleavage or to improve lost volume in the top of the breasts by utilizing regenerative growth factors found in your own blood.
When Kim Kardashian uploaded her now-famous blood-spotted selfie, the internet shed it over the vampire face. And currently, the same method is being utilized to plump up your bosom.
Similar to the face, the non-surgical, walk-in walk-out therapy includes 2 60 minute procedures where blood is attracted from the arm, rotated with a centrifuge to divide the platelet-rich plasma, and afterwards returned back right into the breast.
How does the Vampire Breast Lift™ work?
The Vampire Breast Lift ™ uses your body’s very own natural powers of renewal. A percentage of blood is extracted from you and afterwards centrifuged in order to harvest the development factor-rich platelets found in the plasma. A tiny needle is after that utilized to inject the PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) right into details areas of the breast in order to boost adjustment.
The Vampire Breast Lifts ™ is perfect for women who do not intend to have the recovery time related to conventional surgeries such as breast lifts or breast augmentation or who want an extra subtle, natural improvement of the breasts. It can be made use of to deal with loss of volume and sagging in the breasts as a result of aging, weight-loss or breast feeding, to enhance skin appearance on the upper body as well as to target creased skin on the cleavage. It can additionally be used to correct upside down nipples.
The therapy takes around 40 minutes and also does include injections, so it can be a little awkward however local anesthetic is utilized to reduce any kind of pain and also a lot of patients to discover the therapy very bearable with numerous experiencing no pain in all.
“Some patients may experience some redness, swelling and possible bruising after the treatment, however this usually settles within 2-3 days. Generally speaking, most patients are able to get back to their usual every day routine and activities,”
Among the main benefits of this therapy is the reality there is no down time or recuperation time involved, unlike with surgical breast enhancement procedures. You can also return to work/normal activities straight away. There is a little chance of creating some very little wounding at the injection websites but this will just last a number of days.
According to Medical Director of Cosmetic MD, Dr Herbert Hooi, the procedure is ideal for women looking to enhance the look of their cleavage without surgery.
“For some women who have breastfed or simply with general ageing, the cleavage loses firmness. The shape of the breast tends to fall as the breast tissue descends and breast and nipple sensitivity also decreases, which is all part of the ageing process. This option provides women with shapelier breasts, decreases skin sag, reduces wrinkles and increases sensation in the breasts.”
The Vampire Breast Lift™ aims to lift the breasts and give a fuller looking cleavage as well as enhancing the skin on the chest area to achieve a more youthful appearance. Patients report:
Firmer, more shapely breasts
A lifted and rounder cleavage
Restore sensitivity lost through breastfeeding or previous implants
Perkier nipples
Increased nipple sensitivity
Smoother skin
Fill implant “rippling”
Lift inverted nipples
Like other Vampire Procedures, the Vampire Breast Lift™ injections will last about 12-24 months, depending on individual patients.
Most patients notice their complete results within approximately 3 months of their original treatment session. Your Vampire Breast Lift will not increase the size of your breasts, but it will provide lift akin to that of a push-up bra, which can make your breasts appear to be larger.
The Vampire Breast Lift
is an excellent treatment option for women who are interested in improving the look of their breasts and the skin of décolletage without invasive surgery and for whom natural-looking improvement is the ultimate goal.
