Odo and lwaxanas relationship is so important to me cos its integral to how he grows to become more comfortable with his shape-shifting like shes the first person he is able to show that part of himself to and then in the muse we get to see him happily having fun with different shapes woth her without worrying about being used for entertainment they have such a wonderful dynamic im so glad that she visited the station often offscreen

Watching Star Trek: ds9 The Muse
(Spoiler: this is all about Lwaxodo)
LWAXANA IS BACK BABY!
And holy moly, she's gonna have a baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lwaxana telling Dax, Kira and Worf her troubles and the fact their all so somber is so funny to me
Oh lordy, they're depressed!
Me: *Hums all the kids are depressed*
Oh fuck, she's telling Odo about Kestra, and now I'm sobbing
Oh Odo, surely you must know she's not gonna leave right away after getting her tea😂
His face when Lwaxana asked if he was over her(Kira)
Aw, she's so sweet, man
"Well, Just don't go do what I did. - look for someone to fix your broken heart. Then end up pregnant and on the run." ~ wise advice from Lwaxana Troi
THE BABY KICKED!!!! I honestly thought she was gonna go into labor suddenly 😂
Aw, he helped her slide down the wall so she could sit!
I feel like he's gonna end up getting furniture before she leaves ds9
Aw, Odo looks so amazed when she places his hand on her stomach and he can feel the baby moving!
She's gonna fall asleep in his arms, I just know it.
I love how she keeps moving to lay her head in his lap😂
I knew her replicator wasn't really broken 😂
I think Lwaxana didn't want him to feel pressured to let her visit his quarters, like if she just outright said 'can I come into your quarters?' he may say yes just because he didn't want to offend her, or of he said no, he might have felt really bad about it
Instead she opted to say 'can I use your replicator?' Which gives him an out, like if he really didn't want her in his quarters, he could've easily said that she (or he for that matter) could get her tea from one of the replicators available to the senior staff
And I think if he hadn't said yes to her using his replicator, she would've let the matter drop knowing it would make Odo very uncomfortable.
HE BECAME A BLANKET FOR HER!😭
Lwaxana is looking for Odo! They're playing hide and seek.
I love them so much 😭😍
Her husband is there.🙄
Oh, I hate him. I hate him with a burning passion.
"The son is the property of the mothers husband."
Me: *Gasps*
I am having the seem reaction as Lwaxana 😂
Oh, this'll be fun, Odo has to convince Lwaxana 's current husband that he wants to marry her😂
LWAXANA IS SO BEAUTIFUL 😭
I really hate that soon to be ex-husband of Lwaxana's
"The day I met her, was the day I stopped being alone. And I want her to be part of my life, from this day on." OH MY GOD THIS IS SO SWEET
This scene was so beautiful *blows nose* they're so cute.😭
"I cherished you, Lwaxana. You were my most treasured possession." Started off kinda sweet, ended with a big red flag
Lwaxana, darling, I am right there with with everyone else in believing that Odo wanted to marry you
Oh, Lwaxana is leaving 😭
Odo is sad 😢
She's still in love with him. And he will never love her. They both know this, and it hurts them. And me.
It hurts, so much.
They kissed farewell and it was so sweet, I forever ship them. As friends and as partners. And I hope she makes Odo godfather of her son.
I really hope to see more of Lwaxana, but I read that this was the last apparence of Lwaxana in Star Trek. If that is true, I am forever saddened.
I'm also still shocked that Lwaxana never mentioned that she was a Daughter of the Fifth House, Holder of the Sacred Chalice of Rixx, and Heir to the Holy Rings of Betazed in this episode. Was this the only time she never mentions it in her star trek apparences?
_
Also, I totally saw it coming that that mysterious lady who was helping Jake with his writing was gonna be bad(or at least, a being that killed famous people). *Pretends to be shocked when this is revealed in the show*

we're rewatching shadows and symbols (star trek ds9) and at the scene where kira and cretak were verbally sparring over comms during the blockade, I said "in another timeline y'all would be having insane lesbian sex" and my mom just stopped knitting and put her face into her hands

DS9 has a general "goes hard" vibe across almost all of it, but Voyager goes absolutely harder, much more often, when it wants to.

Okay, the first time I watched DS9 I was no fan of Kira/Odo - I hadn't been expecting it, and thought she could do better XD
But now I've rewatched most of the show, it's actually grown to be one of my favourite canon ships. And this line from Covenant just really got to me with how lovely it is:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ID: 2 gifs of Odo talking to Kira in Quark's, saying "It's just that, uh, you spend so much time in services-"]
And I have to admit, I fully thought he was going to say something along the lines of "I wish you would spend that time with me". BUT NO. I should have trusted you Odo, because he actually says:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ID: same scene, Odo says, "that sometimes it makes me wish I were a believer, so that we could go together."]
And like, there's just so many layers of his care for her??
He's saying, "I want to spend more time with you, even if it's in a space where it wouldn't be about spending time together, just because I like being near you."
And also, "If I could, I'd give up my own time, just to be in the same place you've chosen to be."
But despite wanting to, he won't, because there's also an unspoken element of "I respect your beliefs and wouldn't want to intrude on them without having the same belief."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ID: First GIF is of Ezri saying "That really is so sweet," while Julian nods in the background. Second GIF is of Kira looking at Odo and smiling/laughing.]
Ezri's reaction is spot-on, and as always, Kira's smile is everything.

Bro DS9 S4 episode 21 is such a fucking win for the Lwaxodo fandom (me) like you cannot CONVINCE ME that Odo didn't want to marry Lwaxana in some capacity. They care about each other. Let the goo cop be a father !!!

Thinking about the MLB uniform see through pants and Take Me Out to the Holosuite - the replicated uniforms are cheap and see through so they have to enlist everyone's favorite tailor to fix it.

Something I find interesting about Deep Space Nine is how little it tells the story of Bajor, especially after season 3 or so.
The pilot set up a show in which Bajor could have been central - specifically, the post-colonial story of the planet and its people working out how to recover from the Occupation and govern themselves. And sometimes the series returns to the same themes, particularly in Accession (the one that moots the return of Bajor's pre-colonial caste system), The Circle three-parter (the one with the attempted coup against the provisional governors) and Shakaar (the one with the soil reclamators). We also get some sense of what's happening through Kai Winn's appearances.
All the same, it doesn't feel like the story of Bajor is even really a B-plot most of the time, it's just something we check in on every so often (frequently through the lens of Kira's boyfriends). The series does feel interested in Bajoran religion, but usually through the vehicle of Sisko as the Emissary, so it's detached from Bajor itself. When we do get Bajoran politics, it's mostly about the specific relationship between Bajor and the Federation. And though I haven't counted up episodes, it feels to me like we get way more about Cardassian politics than Bajoran ones.
I'm trying to write this in a neutral way because I love the story that the series did decide to tell, but I can't help but feel it's a pity we didn't get learn more about Bajoran daily life and politics.
E.g. how much of their original political system was still extant? Did they have to rebuild it? Were there tensions about what form that should take?
Did the Cardassian retreat leave skills shortages? Was Bajor able to create a civil service from nothing? Or were there Bajorans employed by the Cardassians who were allowed to stay in their previous roles? Were those people still trusted?
How about culture? Was there a deliberate attempt to de-Cardassianise Bajor? Accession is fascinating from this perspective, but were there any other cultural practices from Bajor's past that they wanted back - or didn't?
And how about Bajor's economy, in the transition from Cardassian exploitation to an economy run for the benefit of Bajorans? A lot of countries, even decades after colonialism, continue to focus on the industries that colonisers prioritised (for good reason) - how does that work when Bajor is increasingly exposed to post-scarcity economies?
I think the thing I want is the kind of filling out of the backstory of Bajor that A Stitch in Time and The Never-Ending Sacrifice provided for Cardassia. Maybe it already exists in one of the many tie-in novels or longer fanfics and I just need to find it?

Why does every crew member on DS9 prefer Raktajino to... like, earth coffee?
Like, some characters, sure, but you'd think at least one person would like a regular cappuccino or something?
Or is it that the DS9 replicators don't make normal coffee that well?

ju and i watched the 2004 merchant of venice movie (a play i have not read or seen before and knew very little about) and it was fascinating but now i'm just kinda depressed
they played most of it very seriously but i got the sense that as originally written it was supposed to be funnier, which made for a lot of tonal weirdness. the courtroom scene was extremely brutal and everything that happened afterwards seemed trivial in comparison, especially since i found it basically impossible to care about portia, bassanio, or antonio at that point

thinking about ezri approaching jake and saying they should crack open his dad’s old recipe book. its been two months since he went missing, there has been no contact, no explanations and the gap he has left behind is widening and the crew needs some normalcy, a connection to each other.
they have both cooked with ben a hundred times. they still screw some things up. they burn the rice and the meat is a little too tender for most people’s tastes but everyone comes in, they all have tried to make something too and its just so good.
all of them around the dinner table, exchanging stories, kasidy talking about the house she is building on bajor to raise her child. jake is taking more jobs, ezri is being considered already for lieutenant commander as she has taken a more active duty aboard the defiant which with the loss of worf and sisko is seriously under-manned.
julian talks about the latest letter he got from keiko and miles, he and keiko are working on a project together to use a plant she is growing to synthesize a cure for a disease. now that the war is over, he is researching and writing more.
nerys is officially the station commander, there had been some grumbles about the need of a starfleet captain but she has the full support of the starfleet team stationed there, they would all revolt without her.
and ben is so far away, but his presence lives in the lives he has touched and the people he brought together, and the dishes he cooked so beautifully that none of them can cook. they try though, they keep trying, cause it keeps bringing them together.
