once again not an unpopular opinion per se but thinking abt the strange parallels between pidge and their family and keith and his mum. for a show about found family, there is so so much weight being impressed upon biological family, to the point where it's near inconceivable that the (white and white coded) characters would ever be apart from them, or have to live without them permanently. keith's mum left. she left. and whatever her reasons���the sensible writing decision is to leave her gone. if she has to come back (which she shouldn't!!) then handle that shit right!! fucking watch final space and maybe then you'll understand how to write mother-son abandonment and reconciliation arcs jesus fuck.

and it's like. they just can't let them move on. they can't forge a life for themselves without their biological families in them, and it's so weird. a narrative about grief, a narrative about facing and reconciling yourself with the brutal fact that your mother left you before you could even remember her, and she knew that you existed, and she didn't care for you enough to even TRY to keep in touch—those are what make characters interesting. throwing family members around to reward them, or whatever the prerogative was there because these writers' minds are an enigma, is stupid. there, i said it.

abt matt dying not an unpopular opinion but just thots ruminating in ur ask box....... i feel like he should have died bc as a narrative of grief it's kind of. idk.

like—the narrative is rewarding pidge for obsessively hunting for them instead of moving on with life. there is no acceptance or growth there and then pidge gets them back. like, what abt grieving ppl irl? will they get the people they lost if they just hope and pray and hunt enough? is the problem them? their friends or family are missing, or gone, and they just didn't do enough? like, i KNOW that's a bit dramatic but at the same time....... having witnessed this before, that arc leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

and i know there's maybe another angle about a happy ending here, escapism in watching pidge finally get that family back, but...... i don't know. they handled it so oddly—the tombstone, the hidden code, the fact that that wasn't delusion but ACTUALLY some hidden code leading to him...... it's all just. this face:

OH MY GOD my adhd ass projected onto lance so hard and i wrote this fic where he has adhd and was on medication and errything and my adhd is soo bad so lance's was too 😌 like yes he has terrible time management, constantly zones out, physically cannot do things he wants to do, hyperfixates on his video games for days on end, is extremely sensitive to criticism, overthinks every little thing, rocking back and forth 24/7, like cannot for the LIFE of him sit still bc there's always energy buzzing in his stomach and beneath his skin, itching to burst out somehow. certain textures just drive him absolutely insane and his sleep schedule is a tragedy. he is physically incapable of tuning out the constant buzzing of the castle. yeah his memory is complete shit what r u going 2 do abt it. nothing! he's in space and ran out of meds!!!!!!

anyways u made me want to completely rewrite vld and i just might 😌 this show took 4 years of my life why not let it take more <3
