Eviternity II was an absolute blast. Great maps, beautiful themes, amazing music. I've said it before and I'm sure I'll say it again, but so many Doom wads stand among the greatest shooter ever made.

ozonia.wad: Ozonia MAP20: Moonblood II (7852, -771, 96) Author: Deadwing Date: 2022-11-02 Description: Ozonia is the third mapset of the Moonblood series, containing 32 carefully designed short maps with compatibility level 9. It's my most ambitious project by far and hopefully the most refined of the trilogy! It's heavily inspired by Plutonia, but it has its own flavor to create a refreshing and unique classic Doom experience! Eviternity, Ancient Aliens, BTSX series and Monti's work are also other big influences. The levels are as difficult as Eviternity with very low enemy count and strategic setpieces, but early E1 maps are easier to allow a nice learning curve. As expected, exploration will take a large role in these maps, but I worked really hard to make them as straight forward as possible so the players won't feel lost. The wad features two new enemies: - Hierophant: replaces romero's head and it is a mid-tier flying demon which fires a mancubus shot and goes berserk if it takes a shot. - Hellion: replaces commander keen and is a fast moving low-tier demon that shoots three plasma bullets while moving himself.

#036: CYBER SANCTUM SOUL PURGE (2023)

Yeah yeah, SIGIL 2, Eviternity II, cacowards winners and all that. I have been playing most of these, but truthfully the holidays make it hard to zero in on Doom for me. So I saw this little 1-map affair and decided to give it a go.

Using the AUGER;ZENITH resource wad (which I haven't played yet - sue me), Boss makes a pretty fun looking cyberpunk city with my favorite part probably being an arcade with neon 80s flooring and attention to detail. It feels a lot like Duke3D up until the final arena, which for some reason (either via bug or choice) cuts out the music and has FIREBLU everywhere. Not my favorite choice, but I guess there had to be *some* 'CYBER SANCTUM' in the map. HNTR wasn't too terribly difficult, but a lot of the combat boiled down to camping in hallways mowing down monsters that had already woken up. Truthfully, although the DW forums page touts UDMF compat it sure didn't feel like it. Granted, I wasn't playing with mouselook and probably missed out on some details, and it's not that I mind a simpler experience - just something interesting.

Overall, pretty fun little coffee-break wad that'll keep your attention for about 10-15 minutes. Fun to look at, fun to play, and the strange ending is worth sticking around for.

i had concerns over eviternity II at first but i'm having a lot of fun so far. it's got probably the hardest opening of any wad i've played for one, and i'm really enjoying the custom content. i was a bit worried about the maps getting Really Long after episode 1 (mainly because of the length of Vytaan's playthrough videos) and while i'm still keeping my guard up, the length of pagb666's videos is making them seem a lot more reasonable

Doom 2 is more than just Doom these days. Some modern levels for the 90s classic FPS feature thousands of enemies, fiendish traps and difficulty beyond anything Id Software dreamt of. Eviternity, released yesterday, runs the gamut. It’s a 32-level campaign split up into six episodes each with a fresh look and some new monsters. You’ll start out in gloomy gothic tunnels, plinking away at zombies with a pistol. By the end, you’ll be screaming through the vast halls of heaven itself, cutting through ungodly-huge swarms of demons with BFG in hand. It’s rather brill.

Doom Eternal E3 2019 gameplay trailer has been recreated in Classic Doom and looks retro-cool

YouTube’s ‘Szczebrzeszyniarz Brzeczyszczyczmoszyski’ has recreated the latest gameplay trailer for Doom Eternal that was showcased at E3 2019 in classic Doom. The YouTuber was able to come really close to the original trailer, making this classic Doom demake look absolutely retro-cool.

In order to recreate the Doom Eternal trailer, the YouTuber used the Accessories to Murder, GMOTA, Project Brutality, Russian Overkill, Samsara, Samsara Extra Heroes + exMixer, Trailblazer and Zen Dynamics mods, as well as the Brigandine, Deus Vult II, Doom 2 Project Remap, Eviternity, Gothic 99, Hellbound, Scythe 2 and Stardate 20×7 maps.

What is basically being showcased here is that modders can already demake Doom Eternal in Classic Doom (provided they merge multiple mods and maps). Whether such a project will emerge when Doom Eternal releases remains to be seen, however there is potential for such a demake.

Doom Eternal is currently planned for a November 22nd release.
