Being Alone, Andrew Bogut, and Cats: Athena Sweet big girl a little shy, friendly affectionate and playful. Wonderful with the smallest kids Good with other pooches. Friendly with a kitten she met. Slept in her previous owners bed. Is very housetrained. Enjoys to cuddle and gives kisses ID # 22211 4 yrs old, 62.3 lbs Waiting on Love @ Manhattan ACC **** TO BE KILLED - 3/15/2018 **** Sweet Athena was bought from a breeder when she was a puppy. Now her owner is moving and isn't allowed pets in her new apartment and Athena finds herself alone in a big shelter. She must be quite confused. She was used to she sleep on her owners bed and was with her family all her life. She was friendly with the smallest children, playful with other dogs and sweet with a kitten she was around for one day. Now she is so happy to be in the company of the volunteers, to have someone to be close and to cuddle with - wagging and smiling, making new friends. Please share lovely Athena for a wonderful new home - that hopefully can be hers forever. A volunteer writes: Love, Love, Love...but our Greek goddess plays hard to get. But soon, Athena accepted my leash and off we went for a long stroll around the nearby park. Athena is a great cruiser, very house trained and very proper with every single dog neared as well as with the naughty squirrels. She is a "bench girl" who enjoys a good cuddle, pressing her body against mine and giving kisses. Yes, the ice was broken quite quickly between us, and I heard just the same from staff and other volunteers. Although she did not grant me a "happy face" (she did a lot of wiggly body and wagging tail), I know (there is a photo to prove it) that she was all smiles and bright eyes for a favorite staff. Athena is with us through no fault of her own. Her owners moved to a place not allowing pets. Her sweetness was her hallmark, and she is described as welcoming to strangers, wonderful with kids of all ages and good with other pooches. What's not to love about Athena? A great friend she was and will be, a calm walker, a book or TV buddy and a most understanding confidant. Athena could be the one and only pet, the gem you have been looking for. Come to the Manhattan Care Center, ask to meet Athena in person and take her home.
