I was thinking about vistas epithet flowerblade, and I noticed in the anime they don’t say Hana. Does Kaken literally translate to flowerblade?

it does, yeah! 花, the kanji for ‘flower,’ can be read as either hana or ka. This is also why the country that Chinjao and Sai come from is called 花ノ国/ka no kuni- Flower Country. And then 剣/ken means ‘sword/blade’- it’s the same as in 剣道/kendou.

kila has a rizz technique called "slowly ensnare the potential mate with long intent stares, courtship gifts left at the tent's door, and showing off strength and capability in battle." despite being a charming fellow himself, it takes wyll an embarrassingly long time to understand whats happening, much to kila's dismay. a hilarious byproduct of barbarian outlander/upper class baldurian miscommunication.

thinking of how when wyll was first cursed with his horns he was so fearful that the world would see him as a monster, and yet he never changed in kila's eyes. he was still just as beautiful, just as worthy of an adoring gaze. to kila, he'd always be just wyll.

the “Just Wyll” part is very literal. to the world, he is The Blade of Frontiers or Mizora’s Pet or Duke Ravengard’s Son or The Exile, but kila has always seen just a man. a sweet, brave man who uplifts the downtrodden and dances when he thinks no one’s looking :’)
