LOTD: Fort Smith Lighthouse Inn
(from: http://www.ibiblio.org/lighthouse/ar.htm)
Fort Smith Lighthouse Inn
1974. Currently inactive. Approx. 45 ft (14 m) 12-sided shingle-covered tower with lantern and gallery. A 2009 photo is available, and Google has a street view and a good satellite view. The Lighthouse Inn was a popular riverside restaurant but it closed early in 2011 when its owners decided to retire. The restaurant was expected to reopen but the plans fell through. The property was sold at auction in May 2016. The new owners, Leslie and Penny Smith, did not announce their plans for the property immediately, but in 2019 the property was under renovation to become an event facility. This work was interrupted when unprecedented flooding damaged the building. Repairs were underway in late 2019 but the facility remained closed in 2020. Located on the south side of the Arkansas just west of the Midland Boulevard (US 64/71) bridge in Fort Smith, near the Oklahoma border. Site and tower closed, but the lighthouse is easy to see from the Broadway Street bridge (US 64).

“Well. Today I almost murdered a child. Normally I can take a few taunts and jeers every now and then, but this bratty little shit made me want to punt him through a gods-damned window and into the void. I was fine with the first few jeers he sent my way, but then he over did it and gods have mercy, I was so close to slapping him.
The kid lost his parents in the mine and, for some cold-hearted reason, really doesn’t care. The alchemist in Dawnstar took him in and he’s waiting for her to die so that he turn her shop into a museum. Little uncouth, but okay. Although, if it were me, I wouldn’t be trying to fill the museum with fake artifacts. Maybe I could tell him about the High Ones and scare the ever living shit out of him...that’s not me. I’m not that mean. Well...for that kid...I might make an exception.
Tumblr media
After speaking to the irritable little brat, I met a very shy and quiet person who surprised me for a second when he told me his name. Jaspar Gaerston, he called himself. Said he was an aspiring writer. He was very soft-spoken and very...wordy. I guess that’s what a writer is. He seemed sweet enough. He seemed very passionate about his writing but was discouraged when some famous publisher denied one of his works, claiming it was written by a blacksmith. Yeah, a little harsh. I told him to keep following his dreams that one day, something miraculous will happen. No matter how bad life may seem, there is always a silver lining to look at.
When I told him that, I was thinking of the silver linings of my own life: losing my companion in Nehrim and being tortured as a slave, but that allowing me the strength to fight back and become who I am now; dying but coming back as Fleshless with new abilities; the world as I knew ending, but allowing me to spend eternity with the person I loved.
I would have given this young fellow those as examples, but then I think he might have thought I was crazy.
Tumblr media
After speaking to Jaspar, I performed another song for a free room and then studied a little bit of magic. I learned a few new spells and more structures of spell. Learning magic this way is kind of fun! Definitely not convenient as it takes forever, but still fun nonetheless.
Tumblr media
After that, I left Dawnstar on a mission that was given to me by the innkeeper. Said that one of the people in Dawnstar wanted a family member found. So I took up the offer. A few miles away and I had to set up camp for the night. Let me say this, Skyrim is just as beautiful as Enderal at night. I have always felt more at peace gazing up at the mystical lights in Enderal and it felt nice to know that Skyrim had at least something familiar for me.
Tumblr media
I stumbled upon a little “fort” built atop a mine infested with bandits. Dealt with them like a piece of cake. Even got a new sword. It looks horrible, but the enchantment on it was like my old sword that I made in Enderal. If I end up being stuck here for too long, I’m going to have to make my own armor set again. I miss my shadow steel.
Tumblr media
When I got to the location where the missing family member was, I rescued her from a few bandits. Her name was Tigrid and she said she stumbled on the steps on her way to sneak up on the bandits. She told me to meet her back in Dawnstar so I warmed up a little bit before heading back.
Tumblr media
Tigrid explained to me that she was always clumsy in her life. She had unnaturally long arms and legs and was bullied often because of it. Only one person ever stood up for her and their name was Shalene. Shalene taught Tigrid how to fight by the Dawnstar lighthouse. However, one night, when Tigrid borrowed a sword from the smith, she slipped on the steps and lost the sword down at the coast. It took them a while but she managed to find the sword. However, when she went to show Shalene, Shalene was paralyzed by a door that was speaking to them. It had asked them a question to which Tigrid had accidentally said the answer to.
Shalene went in and never came back.
Tigrid told me she dedicates her life to living the life Shalene wanted her to live. She felt guilty because she was not brave enough to follow her friend through that door.
I asked Tigrid if she wouldn’t mind adventuring with me. She accepted.
Tumblr media
We celebrated by drinking and talking the rest of the night. I even played another song or two for the inn that night. She was impressed with my skills. I was thinking of telling her about what happened to me, but decided it was best to keep a secret for now. I’ll tell her when we’ve become closer friends and when I know she won’t run away thinking I’m crazy.
I’m glad I’ve found someone in this freezing hellscape to journey with. Makes it a little less empty. But still, with Tigrid by my side, nothing will fill the hole in my heart where my husband is supposed to be.
Husband. It’s weird to think of Jes like that. When Tigrid asked my name, I had told her. And I said Clerissa Dal’Varek. It just rolled off the tongue. I had almost forgotten that Jes and I had a little wedding in Star City one day. We were bored and even though no one else would ever know it, we entertained the idea of marriage.
It’s almost strange to say my name with his last name, but right at the same time. Tigrid recognized the name was foreign and I explained to her that I wasn’t from around here. She could tell by the pointy ears and laughed.
If only that was half of it.”
⊱ ────── {.⋅ ✯ ⋅.} ────── ⊰
This was a lot longer than the last one for sure! Not much happened other than some storybuilding elements really and some NPC encounters. The three people mentioned here Thorolf, Jaspar Gaerston, and Tigrid are from the mod Interesting NPC’s (I’m pretty sure). There’s two other people I have met that appear from this mod (Viranya from the first chapter was one of them) and it’s actually really cool how these NPC’s have their own story. It adds a lot of story building and interactions for Cler.
I’m happy a few of you are enjoying this. Originally I just wanted to play modded Skyrim and I normally play as an Altmer but didn’t know what to do and just ended up making Clerissa so all of this kind of just happened on a whim. Kinda just making it up as I go.
Glad to see some are enjoying it!

Creepy Canada: 10 Historic Haunted Hotels
Contributed by Canadian Girl, Host of Nothing Ever Happens In Canada Podcast
10 -BANFF SPRINGS HOTEL - BANFF, ALBERTA
Canada’s very own haunted castle in the Rockies. A horrible murder took place in the room 873. Today this room has been blocked off and made to look like the wall that’s there now, hoping most will pass by not realizing there is any room there at all. Guests and hotel staff have reported seeing apparitions in the hallway for years, in the exact area the room has been blocked off and meant to be forgotten. They are believed to be the souls of the family that lost their lives in that room.
There’s also the famous burning bride of the hotel… she is the Banff Spring’s more famous haunted guest. The story goes the beautiful bride was on the staircase when her dress caught one of the candles that lit her way. In a panic to put out the flames on her dress, she tragically fell down the stairs and broke her neck. She is often seen dancing in a flaming dress in the hotel’s grand ballroom. She is also known to grace the stairwell that took her life.
9 - FORT GARRY HOTEL - WINNIPEG, MANITOBA
She was built in 1903, and was almost named The Selkirk. The hotel’s doors have seen a few famous guests pass through such as Queen Elizabeth, King George the VI, Louis Armstrong and many more. In this hotel the haunted room number is 202. It is said a women hung herself in the room’s closet. Since this terrible day guests and staff have reported seeing a ghostly woman wearing a cloak. Her favourite trick is to hover just above your bed as you sleep. She also likes to scream and blood is often seen coming from the rooms walls.
8 - FAIRMONT CHÂTEAU LAURIER - OTTAWA, ONTARIO
The previous owner of this hotel was a passenger on the Titanic who did not survive the voyage. He is said to have returned to his beloved hotel, shortly after the accident. The hotel was still being built when he died, so many believe he came back to oversee the work being done. He is known to be a little mean at times, he has broken stuff and opens doors to rooms without knocking. Most of these doors are said to have been locked, making his ghostly presences even more believable and he likes to roam the halls once in awhile.
7 -JAMES BAY INN - VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA
Emily Carr, a famous Canadian painter passed away at this location. Her room was turned into a men’s room, which is attached to the pub that’s now on the location today. Emily seems to be very unhappy about it, as she is known to slam doors, turn lights off and water on, in the men’s room. Guests often report receiving phones calls in the middle of the night, only to pick up and find no one there. Others complain they feel as if someone is watching them sleep.
6 - FAIRMONT LE CHÂTEAU FRONTENAC - QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC
Another haunted Fairmont - what’s going on here? So who’s haunting this property? It’s reported Louis des Buade, Count of Frontenac, a 17th century governor general and the hotel’s namesake. He’s often seen roaming the halls of the hotel looking for his beloved wife who he was separated from in death. Some guests have reported seeing the general with a lady in a white dress, so maybe he did indeed find his wife after all.
5 - THE ALGONQUIN HOTEL - ST. ANDREWS, NEW BRUNSWICK
This iconic hotel is very similar to the “Overlook” hotel in famous horror movie The Shining and it just may be for good reason. There’s tales of Stephen King staying at this location before and many times after his beloved masterpiece was written. Some suspect this very haunted hotel may have just inspired parts of his tale. If you do stay here keep your eyes out for the lady in the dining room. She enjoys rearranging the table settings to her desire. There’s also a Bellhop who takes you to your room, all while telling you some amazing history facts and a watchmen still on patrol, listen for his keys.
There is an old stylish tower that survived a fire in 1914. Guests and hotel staff report seeing lights on in the tower and a girl in a white dress looking out the window. She is also heard weeping throughout the halls of the hotel. Legend says in room 473 a bride could be heard weeping so loud, after being left at the altar early that day. The poor girl took her life in that room and those who stay in it, prepare to get no sleep. As she slams and bangs stuff, as well as weeps until you are forced to leave her room.
Other haunted rooms in this spooky hotel are 308 and 373, an interesting fact about room 373 is, that it is directly below the bride’s room. The 4th floor is known for objects to suddenly just go missing. On the 2nd floor, the door knobs turn, so choose your floor wisely.
4 - THE CARIBOO HOTEL - CARCROSS, YUKON
Built over 100 years ago, this hotel could tell a few good stories if her walls could talk. She’s been burnt to the ground, rebuilt again, had numerous renovations and there’s even a tale of her floating across a lake. Former owner Mrs. Bessie Gideon and her husband Edwin would rebuild the hotel after the Christmas Eve fire in 1909. Mrs. Gideon would pass away in her beloved hotel on October 27th, 1933. Many have claimed to see her looking out the windows as they walk by the hotel. She also likes to rock in the rocking chair on the 3rd floor. Another popular tale told over and over again, is she is seen on the 3rd floor as well, but with her beloved parrot resting on her shoulder.
3 - WEST POINT LIGHTHOUSE INN - O’LEARY, PEI
The lighthouse was first lit May 21st, 1876. The Inn was built in 1984 and was the first lighthouse inn, in Canada. Not only has this inn offered views of burning ghost ships for the last 35 years, that can be seen just off the coast past the lighthouse, where they have been reported for over 200 years. It also has a guest known as Willie who is said to be, William MacDonald, the first lighthouse keeper. For some reason he prefers to spend his days around the inn, instead of his lighthouse.
2 - HOTEL SASKATCHEWAN - REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN
This Victorian style hotel will take you back in time, with just one step inside her doors. As beautiful as this place may be, for some reason many guest have taken their lives here, leaving behind many lost and unsettled spirits. Staff and guests for years have reported apparitions coming and going at all times, objects moving that shouldn’t be and cupboards slamming. There are even stories of vases flying across rooms, only to smash to pieces while no one else is around. The 5th and the 8th floors are said to have the most disruptions if you do stay here.
1 - FAIRMONT ROYAL YORK - TORONTO, ONTARIO
It’s starting to look like every Fairmont comes with a ghost and this one certainly comes with a few. The hotel has a beautiful ballroom that has been shut down for years, but guests and staff still report hearing music in there from time to time. The elevator will also take you to the Crystal Ballroom, without pushing a single button; the doors will open, as if it wants you to enter the room.
The biggest complaint the hotel receives, is of children laughing and playing in the hall. When these complaints are look into, there are often no children in the area at all. There’s also man in a purple coat, which likes to hang around the 8th floor.

7 Places To Visit in Bermuda: A Travel Guide
Bermuda is often misunderstood as being a part of the Caribbean chain of islands, but actually it’s a British Overseas Territory located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean! Because of this location, the climate is a lot milder than Bermuda’s neighbouring islands.
This archipelago is loved for its crystal clear turquoise water, pink-sand beaches, and a laid back British influence. The rich history coupled with the very best that nature has to offer makes Bermuda an eye-opening place to visit.
While its history may run deep, these days Bermuda is one of the hottest vacation spots in the world. In addition to the many museums and forts that you can visit, Bermuda also hosts world-class diving, stunning beaches, snorkeling, fishing, golfing and much more.
Here are 7 incredible places to visit when you travel to Bermuda!
Note: This post has been updated December, 2019.
1. Horseshoe Bay Beach
If you hear a local tell you they are going to the beach, they are most likely referring to Horseshoe Bay Beach located in the Southampton Parish. And while it’s certainly the most popular and therefore most visited beach, you will still be charmed by the silky pink sand that trails into the bluest ocean you’ll ever see.
There are numerous rental facilities here along with change rooms and beachside cafes. If you’re looking for calmer waters, head over to Port Royal Cove.
Other beaches worth checking out nearby are Elbow Beach, Warwick Long Bay Beach, and John Smith’s Bay which is an excellent spot for swimming and snorkeling.

2. St. George’s Island
St. George’s Island is the birthplace of Bermuda. The English claimed the settlement of Bermuda in 1609 and today it remains the longest inhabited English settlement this side of the pond.
The town itself is a marvel to walk around and you’ll be blown away by the historical architecture, which features brightly painted stones and masonry buildings. In between the buildings you’ll find narrow streets with pretty names like Featherbed Alley.
St. George’s is also home to a plethora of historical sites such as St. Peter’s church — the oldest active protestant church in the New World. This Anglican church was built in 1612 and is still in use today. You can find it on Duke of York Street.
  3. George’s Island Forts
If you want to get a glimpse of how the British defended Bermuda, then the forts on St. George’s island are a must-visit. Their beauty was officially recognized by UNESCO when they were added to the list of World Heritage Sites.
One of the highlights on the island is Gates Fort which was constructed in the 1620s and offers unique views of the Atlantic Ocean. After taking in the views, head over to Alexandra Battery where you can see a little beach littered with colorful sea glass.
  4. National Museum of Bermuda
Just because you came for the beach doesn’t mean you won’t be marveled by the history laying within the walls of the National Museum of Bermuda. Located at the Royal Naval Dockyard (which is another must-see sight), this is one of the architectural highlights in Bermuda.
This large complex is situated in a huge fort which is divided from the rest of the dockyard by a beautiful moat. When you cross the drawbridge, you will walk into one of the most beautiful maritime museums in the world. It hosts eight historic exhibition buildings that showcase every chapter of the island’s history.
Be prepared to be overwhelmed with artifacts from ships and battles, as well as maritime art, and exhibitions dedicated to shipbuilding, yacht racing, and whaling.

On the museum’s second floor you will find the 19th-century Commissioner’s House. Its aged furniture and the exhibits about Bermuda’s military history will make you feel as though you’re on the set of an old war film.
When you’re done, don’t just wander out the gate. Take your time to explore the 16-acre grounds and enjoy the panoramic views of the island. For those travelling with children, there’s a museum playground and playhouse to keep the little ones entertained.
The museum is open daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and there is an entrance fee of $15. Click here for more details.
  5. Crystal Caves
Many people forget that in addition to its history and exotic beaches, Bermuda’s limestone caves have been gaining the attention of visitors since as early as the 17th century. These days, modern infrastructure has been built allowing you to descend 120 feet below sea level to see the eye-popping crystal formations and a subterranean lake.
You can take an informative tour and will be guided across the bridge which crosses a lake. You’ll be wowed by the surrounding stalactites and crystallized soda straws every step of the way.
A new age lighting system has also been built to enhance the beauty of the formations, this truly is a remarkable place to visit and learn about nature. This is definitely one of the top places to visit in Bermuda.
The caves are a little pricier to get in ($22 USD) but well worth it. They are open daily from 9am to 5pm.
6. Capital City of Hamilton
The capital of Bermuda overlooks a stunning harbor and is the commercial, cultural, and historical epicenter of the archipelago. From the multi-colored buildings that pave the streets, to the wide range of high-end shopping, culinary delights, and art galleries, there’s something in the city for every type of traveller.
Most of the action takes place on Front Street where you will see troves of cruise ships parked amongst other tour boats and ferries that ship tourists back and forth between the islands.
A lot of the cultural highlights can be found in Hamilton. Here you’ll find historically significant buildings that go back as far as the 1800s, including the Bermuda Cabinet Building, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, St. Paul’s Church, and the Anglican Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity.
Even if you only have time to swing by for a quick photo, it’s worth the visit just to catch a glimpse of the fascinating architecture that appears to be frozen in time.
Other highlights worth mentioning are the Bermuda National Gallery which showcases many styles of artwork on a rotating basis as well as the Bermuda House of Assembly which is known as the oldest Parliament in the Western Hemisphere.

  7. Gibb’s Hill Lighthouse
For stunning views of Bermuda make a trip over to Gibb’s Hill Lighthouse. Built in 1844, this lighthouse is the tallest of the two in Bermuda and is renowned for being one of the original lighthouses in the world made entirely of cast-iron.
It may not seem all that big from up-close but this century-old lighthouse shoots a beam that can be spotted by ships 40 miles away and by planes flying 10,000 feet high from as far as 120 miles away!
To get to the top, you will need to climb all 185 steep steps. Even for a seasoned hiker, this climb is going to seem impossible at first, especially if you experience discomfort in close spaces. Don’t let the steps put you off as your efforts will be rewarded with an absolutely breathtaking 360-degree view of Bermuda which covers both the shoreline and the Atlantic Ocean.
A little bonus tip for those travelling in spring — you might be lucky to spot the migrating whales!

Mendocino, California Travel Guide
New Post has been published on http://healingawerness.com/news/mendocino-california-travel-guide/
Mendocino, California Travel Guide
When we left off, C and I had just gotten engaged (ahhhh!) and we had made plans to drive up the Northern California coast towards Mendocino. Originally it was supposed to be just the four of us (me and C and my parents), but after C’s parents surprised us for the engagement, they came along for the ride.
Note: since this post was written in June of 2017, C and I have been back 4 times and have added many new things to the list. Everything has been updated as of August 2019.
C had warned me that I might fall in love with Mendocino, but combined with the fact that we got to have both of our families there to experience it made it all that much sweeter. So yes, C was right.
I’m writing this post not only so I can have a visual diary of the weekend, but also to encourage any of you to visit Mendocino. Most people visiting San Francisco head out to wine country or drive south along the coast, but I want to encourage you to go a few hours north. The coastline is spectacular, the food is incredible and it truly is a special place. If this post doesn’t make you want to add Mendocino to your travel bucket list, then I have failed at my job.
Mendocino ended up being super dog-friendly so I figured I’d include places that were accommodating if you’re travelling with your furry friends. I’ve marked them with a *.
Let’s jump in…
WHERE TO STAY IN MENDOCINO
We spent all 3 days at the Heritage House Resort and I fell head over heels in love with this place. You can’t get a better location than this. It overlooks the ocean and pretty much every room has a view. We got a 2 bedroom suite (C’s parents were in another room) that had a huge field in the back that was perfect for Bodhi to run around in. Yes – they’re dog-friendly!
There are hiking trails off the property, beach access, HUGE showers, and the rooms were very spacious. I honestly can’t recommend this place enough!
FYI: We’ve since returned to Mendocino a couple of times and have stayed at several different locations but Heritage House is still our favorite. Here’s some feedback on other places.
Inn at Schoolhouse Creek – We really liked this place and found it quite charming. The accomodations aren’t nearly as nice as Heritage House, however the people who operate it are kind and they are super dog friendly.
Dennens Victorian Farmhouse – We booked this on airbnb where it is marketed as a stand-alone unit when in fact it’s part of a big bnb. The rooms are cozy but small and since they’re all attached you can hear everything. We loved the fruit trees on property though!
Mendocino Grove – honestly, we found this a bit overpriced. $200 to sleep in a glamping tent is a bit steep. The grounds are nice and the tents are comfy but we’re just as happy to pay $10 to sleep in a tent on a campsite in the area.
WHERE TO GO IN MENDOCINO
As I mentioned we’ve since been back to Mendocino a couple of times so this list has become quite extensive. There’s endless things to do!
Mendocino Headlands State Park – these are the trails that run along the bluffs just outside of the main town. They go on for days and the views are out of this world. It’s more of a walk than a hike, but it’s absolutely worth it. *
Downtown Mendocino – walk through the town and explore the little shops. It’s only about 4 blocks wide on either side so you don’t need more than a few hours. Stop in Honey & Ro if you can! Try not to spend all your money there…*
Point Cabrillo Lighthouse– this is an absolutely beautiful lighthouse along the highway from Mendocino to Fort Bragg. It’s about a half mile walk along the road, but worth it. *
Glass Beach – This is in Fort Bragg and while it was super busy, it was actually pretty cool. The glass is remnants from a former landfill so not the best reason but we loved stopping by here. *
Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens – This is not your average botanical gardens. Not only is their collection of plants incredible, but they also have beautiful grounds to explore and walk along the ocean. Dog-friendly too!*
Russian Gulch State Park – this was our big hike of the adventure. It’s a 6.5 mile loop and AWESOME. We hiked out to the waterfall and then back. I highly recommend! *
Big River Trail – an easy hiking path along the Big River Estuary. You’re likely to see marine life and in the summer they have ample blackberry bushes!*
WHERE TO EAT IN MENDOCINO
I think this is probably the most important piece of this post. Besides the activities, we spent a lot of time eating. It’s hard to resist when the food there was so good. There’s definitely an emphasis on seasonal and local ingredients and the food 100% tastes this way. I was blown away by the quality and the variety that such a tiny town had to offer.
5200 restaurant- this was the restaurant at our hotel and it was delicious! We went for dinner one night and breakfast one morning and both meals were outstanding. *
Circa 62 – Go here for breakfast or brunch! If only for the dog menu! But besides the fact that this is the most dog-friendly restaurant I have ever been to, the food was phenomenal. We almost went back there two days in a row but ended up trying somewhere else. *
Wild Fish – for the best of Mendocino seafood you must checkout Wild Fish. It’s pricey but it’s perfect for a date night or special occasion. Every meal we’ve had here has been amazing.
Cafe Beaujolais – We loved this place! The quality of the food was stellar and the wine selection was awesome. Mendocino is known for its mushroom foraging so make sure you order things with mushrooms!
Trillium Cafe – Another fantastic dinner option in Mendocino. The breadsticks are to-die-for and they do a great job of incorporating local ingredients. A tad overpriced but still delicious.
Mendocino Cafe – By far the best lunch in the area and one of our favorite casual spots for dinner. Amazing menu, great patio and lots of healthy options! *
Goodlife Cafe and Bakery – If healthy and organic is your thing, definitely stop in here! Lots of vegan and gluten-free options and great for grabbing a quick meal. *
Frankie’s – They serve Cowlick Ice Cream here if you can’t make it up to Fort Bragg. It’s amazing and especially after a long hike!
Getting to and from Mendocino
Most people going to Mendocino are coming from San Francisco and along the way there are some pretty awesome places to enjoy. I figured I’d include some of these if you happen to be making this adventure yourself.
You’ll likely go through two major wine regions: Russian River and Anderson Valley. Because my we’ve done Russian River before, we didn’t do that much exploring, but had a great time in Anderson Valley, which is about 40 minutes south of Mendocino.
Preston Farm and Winery (Russian River) – we stopped here on our way up to Mendocino and loved it. We bought a bottle, set-up a picnic at one of their picnic tables and then walked around the farm. Highlights: the rose and gorgeous proptery. Lowlights: Not dog-friendly and I ate a stinging nettle (true story…)
Navarro (Anderson Valley) – free tastings woot! The staff here was super helpful, the wine was affordable and also fantastic. We came home with a bottle of gewurztraminer.*
Toulouse (Anderson Valley) – Absolutely stunning views. Enjoy a tasting ($10 or waived with a bottle purchase) or meal on their patio. Worth it! *
Baxter (Anderson Valley) – This is a tiny winery in town and we ended up stopping here after trying a bottle of theirs at Cafe Beaujolais. They didn’t have the exact bottle we were looking for but the Baxters (the husband and wife couple who run the place) were super helpful so we grabbed a different, but equally as delicious Pinot Noir. *
Penny Lane Farms (Anderson Valley)- Stop here! It’s a beautiful property and they do both wine and cheese tastings. They have a working dairy farm on the property and if you call in advance you can go meet the goats and sheep! *
Smith Story Wine (Anderson Valley) – Bodhi loves stopping in her to visit his friend Sandwich the doodle but honestly you’ll want to stay for the wine because it’s fantastic!*
* * * * *
That’s all I’ve got for my Mendocino Travel Guide! I’d love to hear your favorites if you’ve been or what other places you’d like me to explore in our new home state. Next up we have our eyes set on Redwoods National Park and hopefully a few more visits to wine country and back to Tahoe for a longer stay!
