I apologize if this is bothering you, but is there anyway you can tell me wth is going on with R6S and why there's separate teams now? I'm just getting back into fandom since my cousin passed away a year ago, so I'm kinda lost 😭. Like, I've seen the newer cinematics, but that barely says anything. Just like a guide for dummies for the recent lore ❤️

It's no bother! Lemme try to summarize the most important plot points of this whole Rainbow vs. Nighthaven arc:

Harry introduces Nighthaven (NH for short) to Rainbow. Ash voices doubts about hiring a PMC/mercenaries (NH's arrival animation)

Harry starts The Program: renovate the Stadium in Greece and make it their new base, yearly competition between the ops (mirroring the Siege Invitational irl)

Invitational 2020 competition happens (Tournament of Champions cinematic)

Kali introduces more NH people into Rainbow: Ace & Aruni

Kali invites Fuze to train with NH before the Invitational final, she shows off a disregard for the safety of team companions, her new suit (aka, the elite), and offers Fuze a job in NH (comic #1)

Invitational 2021 competition takes place (The Playbook cinematic). Kali disregards Ash's orders during the match, using her & others as bait to lure the defenders and kill them. She wins the match but injures Ash in the process. They argue and Kali's dismissal of what she says ends with Ash punching her.

Ash sets up a meeting with an old acquaintances, Flores, who she wants to bring to Rainbow and also asks him to spy on Kali, sine she's convices the PMC leader is up to no good (comic #2)

Kali brings Osa into Rainbow, who is the R&D chief in NH and the one designing all the tech for the PMC group.

The season's battlepass is full of hints about NH courting several Rainbow operators, giving them tours of their installations and new NH suits/gear.

During one of those visits (featuring IQ & Smoke), Osa receives a message from Kali, stating she's needed in Greece and that they're moving forward with their plan (Osa's season animation)

For the next invitational, it's revealed that Kali has been chosen as one of the 4 team leaders. She gets to choose some additional ops for the team, aside from the NH ones. She picks Finka, IQ, Pulse, Ela & Smoke.

Invitational 2022's final takes place, but we only see the aftermath: all of the Rainbow ops in Kali's team are defecting from Rainbow to join NH (Sister in Arms cinematic)

Harry apparently didn't see that coming??

From Harry's board, we get the info that he's splitting Rainbow operators into 4 different especialised teams, to increase their efficiency: Hiaban's team (no name given yet) Doc's team (Wolfguard), Thermite's team, Caveira's team (I go into more detail in this analysis I did)

Azami, an acquaintance of Hibana's, gets into Rainbow (and Hibana's team) after the VIP she was protecting/being a bodyguard for, gets murdered in broad daylight. The bullet that killed him has QCR (the name of NH's R&D department) engraved in it (Azami's season animation)

Wolfguard (Doc's team) is deployed to rescue the architect who designed NH's base, since he's being held hostage (wolfguard animation)

They need the architect's help to get infiltrate NH's base, since they want confirmation and intel to know if they're really giving weapons and gear to criminals. Nokk inflitrates NH's base to retrieve the intel about their shipments (current season's animation)

And this is where we are, with IQ, Smoke, Pulse, Ela and Finka defecting from Rainbow to joing NH, and NH being suspected of criminal activity. Plus Rainbow being organized in 4 different squads with different areas of expertise.

Spetsnaz w/ Crush on GN!Reader Hcs

Fuze

When dealing with a crush Fuze can be a little stubborn at first. Its pretty obvious he has one though, because you can see him staring every time you pretend you’re not looking. Once someone actually brings it to his attention that he’s not being discreet about his crush? Fuze completely loses the stubborn act.

If the crush goes both ways and you like him too? The man absolutely will use that to his advantage. Any time you’re around him, his goal would be to make you blush. This man has the audacity to bite his lip and wink around you. Of course only to be bullied later by his team.

He’ll stick to your side whenever you’re put on missions with him, he’s always very overprotective (and showing off). If you decide to show off for once? He turns into a complete blushing mess. Congrats, you broke him.

Tachanka

Alexandr… cannot be subtle for the life of him. If he’s going to have a crush on someone, he doesn’t see the point in keeping it secret. The whole point is to date them at the end, right? Right???

From the moment he spots you on a mission one day, he’s going up to you whenever he can just to chat (totally not flirting the entire time). He’ll follow you around a lot, kind of like some giant, very chonky puppy. All this man wants from you is attention, he’ll do anything just to keep your eyes on him a little longer. (Compliment him and he’ll turn into a tomato, shh just don’t tell him I said anything)

Seriously, when I say he’ll do anything, I mean it. Just ask and he’ll do it, its that simple. He’ll flex a lot around you (leetol showoff) or just never change out of his elite outfit 🙄 (He gets very jealous of others getting more attention than him) On missions with you, just like Fuze, he’s never letting you out of his sight. And if someone manages to hurt you? Gone :/

Glaz

Poor soul, someone help him please. Every time Glaz sees you his face heats up to about 1 million degrees. He tries his very best to keep his crush secret, but as soon as someone asks him whats wrong? Glaz implodes. The rest of Spetsnaz teases him about his crush, only making him even more shy.

You might as well try talking to him instead of him talking to you, because he turns into a mumbling and blushing mess when hes even near you. Once he actually gets to know you better he starts feeling a lot calmer. Now you get to see the silly (and flirty) side of him! Timur’s favourite thing to do is make you smile, he has a mini internal celebration every time he succeeds.

Since Glaz is a sniper, he’ll try his best to be as close by you as possible, but if he can’t he just watches you through his scope. Which can sometimes give you a heart attack if you’re not used to it. He’ll just apologise profoundly after the match and try cheering you up with dumb little jokes. How can you stay mad at him though with his puppy eyes 😔

Kapkan

Kapkan is the absolute best at hiding crushes out of the four of them. Why? Because he knows how to keep a straight face when around you 🙄 Other than that this man is a complete simp (and a filthy one too but thats for another day-)

He’s quite obsessive with his crushes and makes it a point to learn seriously everything about you. Of course, he’ll then use this knowledge to bring you little gifts. He’ll leave them in places he knows you visit a lot, often with a handwritten letter attached to the gift. A little bit creepy but he has good intentions 😭

When on missions with you, he tries his best not to act too clingy. It is definitely a struggle for him though. You’ll spot him looking over at you only for him to quickly look away and do something else, or act like hes looking at something behind you. His entire act will fall apart if you get injured though, whoever touches you has a deathwish for sure.

Sniper's Nest I

Pairing: Timur "Glaz" Glazkov x Enemy Combatant/Sniper F!Reader Warnings: Mentions of combat/violence, angst, enemies to lovers eventually, but no real pairing in this chapter. Explicit language. Summary: Glaz has been holed up in a sniper's nest for days that are beginning to blend together. Unfortunately for him, he's not alone. Word Count: 2k A/N: I realize I have been...unfair to Glaz because his elite makes my skin crawl, so I am atoning for that. There are a lot of visual elements to this piece, so give them time to load.

Timur sighed and rested his rifle on the window ledge; he was used to shitty assignments, but this was a new low.

The abandoned apartment he was holed up in hadn't been inhabited for at least a year. The wallpaper was yellowed and peeling away, revealing the beaten lathe and plaster behind it. None of the utilities functioned, and there was a lingering smell he couldn't place- like stale air and something long dead under the floorboards.

Timur hated Alexsandr for sticking him up here.

He glanced through his scope and did a quick sweep of the street below; the White Masks had laid siege to this particular city block, and all that remained of most of the neighborhood was rubble and stalled-out cars. His assignment, barring any interruptions, was to track enemy movement and supply chains, pinging them for intercept by Rainbow's ground forces.

Timur pulled his rifle from the window and set it on the floor gently before propping his boots up on a worn leather ottoman. He reached into his rucksack and retrieved a protein bar.

He had enough food for six days, and enough water for at least eight.

He hoped it didn't come to that.

"Glaz, come in-" Timur jerked awake and scrambled for his radio, fumbling in the pitch blackness until his fingers fell on the hard plastic.

"Here."

"Kapkan has movement about half a klick east of you, in the market district," it was Fuze's voice. He was in the basement of the old city hall, monitoring troop movements and communications.

"Copy."

Timur glanced down at his watch and squinted, eyes straining to focus in the darkness.

"Fuck," he sank back into his chair and pulled his rifle into his lap. He fiddled with the settings for a moment until the night vision powered on and then swung the barrel out of the window.

The scope illuminated the street below in bright hues of green. Timur squinted, scanning for signs of movement-

Nothing.

Wait-

Movement, but not on the street- in the window of another building adjacent to his. Timur counted the windows- eighth floor, four units in.

He focused on the opening and held his breath. Had he imagined it?

The curtain fluttered and he furrowed his brows. Minutes passed.

Still nothing.

"Come on, сука," he muttered. The curtain moved again and he rested his finger on the trigger.

BANG

The window frame to Timur's left exploded in a burst of splinters and he dropped to the floor as a second shot hit the wall behind him. A shower of plaster sprayed across the room and he covered his head with a curse.

A fucking sniper.

Timur scrambled in the darkness, hands fanning over the floor until he bumped against his radio.

"Fuze-" he paused as a third shot pierced the wall under the window and missed his leg by inches, "I have a sniper- across the street from me-"

No response.

"Fuze?" the line was dead. Timur's heart hammered against his ribcage so loudly that he could hardly hear himself think. He held his breath and edged, slowly toward his discarded rifle. He paused at the hole the sniper's shot had punched through the wall and peered out of it; he could barely make out the window where the shot had come from, it was empty once again, save for the still fluttering curtains.

Timur snatched the sling on his rifle and dragged it toward him across the wooden floor. The sky was beginning to grow lighter to the East, signaling the approach of dawn. He fumbled in his pocket until he found a small, round mirror and slowly held it up to the window, angling it so he could see the other building.

BANG

The mirror exploded in his hands and he cried out as the bullet grazed his index finger, sending a spray of blood and glass onto his face.

Timur grimaced and pulled his shredded hand close to his chest, pinching off the wound to slow the bleeding.

The son of a bitch was toying with him, like a cat with a trapped mouse. They could have shot him dead when he was distracted with the curtain in the window- why didn't they?

Timur winced and edged backward into the kitchen area, dragging his rifle along with him. He propped himself against the refrigerator and glanced down at his hand. His index finger was torn to pieces and blood had started to trickle down his palm and onto the sleeve of his fatigues.

He reached into his rucksack and found a roll of gauze, unspooling a few inches and wrapping his hand tightly. He sighed and let his head loll back against the cool surface of the refrigerator and held the radio up to his face.

"Fuze?" he released the call button and waited. Nothing. "Kapkan?" Still nothing.

He was alone.

You peered through the hole in the brick wall and watched as the top of the soldier's head bobbed just above the window sill. You narrowed your eyes and watched the motions- repetitive, careless-

A helmet on a stick.

You grinned. He had clearly learned his lesson. For a moment, you considered sending a shot through the exterior wall and hoping for a body hit, but you couldn't be sure exactly where he was.

Plus, the game was just getting fun.

You leaned against the filing cabinet and checked your watch-

You dug in your rucksack and pulled out your hydroflask; you had to be conservative- you had enough water for three more days before you'd have to make your retreat.

Timur sighed and tossed his helmet aside. The sniper clearly wasn't falling for it.

He chanced another glance through the bullet hole under the window, squinting against the brightness of the midday sun. Still no movement.

He was at a severe disadvantage. The other sniper knew his location and that he was already injured. He dug in his pocket and retrieved the floorplan of the apartment complex- one door over, there was another unit that they had considered for his post, but had abandoned it because it had a sizeable exterior hole in the wall.

But now, that hole could provide a valuable opportunity.

Timur snatched his rucksack and rifle from the floor and walked in a half-crouch to the door. He swung it open and moved quietly into the hallway, ensuring it was clear before sprinting silently to the adjacent apartment.

He tossed his bag to the floor in the kitchen and surveyed the room- the hole was in the living area, about one and a half feet wide.

He could make it work.

Timur crept quietly to the far corner of the room, angled just such that he could see out of the hole in the wall, but he was still obscured by the wing-backed chair in the pitch darkness of the apartment.

He powered on the night vision on his scope and peered through it, scanning the windows on the building across the street.

The curtain fluttered once more.

You hadn't seen the soldier for several hours.

He was trying to wait you out.

You reached for the length of rope at your feet that ran through the hole in the floor and tugged it. In the apartment below, the curtain swayed gently.

You held up your binoculars and scanned the window of the apartment across the street.

Nothing.

You frowned and dropped the rope. Had he retreated during one of your catnaps?

"Fuck," you muttered and snatched your rifle from the floor, "Where did you go?"

You slid your rifle gently into position and peered through the scope, waiting for any sign of movement.

It was a split second, on the floor above the window with the curtain- the smallest reflection of light.

A scope flare. From the hole to the right of the window.

"There you are, сука-" Timur trained his reticle on the hole in the brick and held his breath, "Come out to play."

The sniper had gotten careless, spurred on by having him pinned down at a disadvantage for so long.

It was his turn.

He squeezed the trigger and fired through the hole.

so the team captains for the invitational have been announced. it'll be cool as fuck again, no doubt, but i'm still lowkey sat here like u g h bc yep, once again it looks like the Spetsnaz are gonna be wholeass ignored... I'm sick of this shit, man. maybe they'll be graced with a few seconds of animation time (doubt) but like what's the point of noting that they get frustrated over never/rarely being picked as team captains, and then Never Doing Anything To Remedy That?? thanks for coming to my rant, have a pleasant day :')

Let's face it, Siege has a bad case of favoritism, where some operators will appear everywhere while others get ignored. And the Spetsnaz is the pathfinder team that gets ignored the most. Okay yes, last Invitational Tachanka got a few seconds of audio in one of those audio teasers they did, and Fuze appeared in the Nighthaven comic so Kali could flaunt her rich bitch status at him. Did they get something on that battlepass at least? Nah, absolutely not. And even when it comes to getting cosmetics and bundles in general, the Spetsnaz don’t get much.

But they aren't the only ones getting sidelined. Blitz was in one of the Invitational trailers and got a cool outfit in that battlepass, but the rest of the GSG9? You could argue IQ got a few seconds of screentime in the Crystal Guard short animation, but even if you count that as being in the spotlight, half of the GSG9 team is still routinely ignored.

What about the GIGN? Well, Doc is well loved and gets lots of attention. But what about the rest? Twitch and Rook were the focus of an old battlepass, before we had short animations for those, so they only got 1 outfit out of all that. And Monty is in the same boat as Glaz, they get absolutely nothing at all. It’s even worse, because Monty doesn't even have an elite yet!

The FBI arguably get the better end of the deal, since they all appeared in several cinamtics, animated shorts and battlepasses.... Wait, did I say all? I mean all except Castle, of course. In all fairness, he appeared briefly in the animation short and battlepass for Flores' season, but that was after years of neglect, and he hasn't had a second of extra attention since then either.

The SAS get a fair deal of attention too, but same as with the FBI, there's one of the SAS who's been ignored in all cinematics and animations shorts: Mute. In fact, I think Castle got more attention than Mute, cause Mute didn’t appear in any cinamtic at all, did he? Correct me if I’m wrong.

And that's only for the pathfinder teams! There are other operators who also had zero (0) attention at all: Ying, Jackal, Clash, Capitao, Echo, and a lot of others too. They made a small effort making Capitao and Vigil team captains last year, but they didn't even get to be on the cinematic, so what was the point? Meanwhile, the same characters get the spotlight time and time again. Are we always gonna have Sledge, Ash, Mira, Thatcher, Caveira, Pulse, Mozzie, etc in the Invitationals? Are they the only people in Rainbow, or do the rest don’t deserve a shot at particiapting in the competition?? Also, why doesn't Nomad get some Invitational cosmetics in this battlepass? She's a freaking team captain and still doesn't get anything? Well, I'm guessing she won't be winning then, wanna bet it comes down to another Ash and/or Kali final? Cause I'm fucking sure.

Look, if you follow me you know I’m rather critical of what they have been doing with Siege lore wise, so in that regard I’m pretty glad they haven’t touched my beloved Spetsnaz. But, I’d also kill to have them appear in the background of one of the Invitational animations. They don’t have to be team captains or even do much, just kill someone/be killed, and appear on the background as extras in another scene. With that I’d be over the moon, really!
