Hi Cato! Any headcanons for auror!Danny?
Hi Lily @slytherindisaster thank you for your ask!
Some of the headcanons I'll share with you are sort of a counter to the controversial story elements shown in the preview materials for Hogwarts Legacy.
As an auror, Danny swore to never inflict harm on any minority groups. Which includes werewolves, muggle-borns, vampires, squibs and others.
An exception to this would be after his best friend and sister Roxie @beloved-bucky was attacked by a vampire. He understood that there was a boundary that if crossed, justified the loss of freedom for a suspect. This was regardless of the perp's race, beliefs, background or other protected characteristics.
He teams up with other found sibling Prim @endlessly-cursed and vampire expert Rex @cursebreakerfarrier to bring Roxie's attacker into custody. Danny helped capture the vampire with extreme prejudice against the fact he was a criminal, not because of his vampirism. He did this for both Roxie and Gabriel.
He also thought of his surrogate uncle Bat @carewyncromwell during the manhunt. Two vampires played important roles in Danny's found family and he would never betray them for anyone or anything.
Danny refuses to get involved in goblin-related affairs or rebellions. He is a hardliner for a good reason - he always stands by his found family and refuses to be a tool for the ministry's prejudice. Plus, the goblin situation is very complicated and Danny would rather focus on other issues.
His legacy is continued by his descendant Cato Reese who as an auror sees that the reforms and de-corruption Danny hoped for become official for good.
I hope you all don't mind me borrowing your OCs for these headcanons! I really enjoyed writing these and hope you enjoy them all!<3

Something Wicked This Way Comes
Tumblr media
A/N: This story is was written for @hp-12monthsofmagic October prompt. Happy Halloween. OCs featured belong to @whatwouldvalerydo (Victoria Summer... sorry for bothering her again), @the-al-chemist (Jim and Ethel Hexley), @endlessly-cursed (Nilüfer Sultan, in mention), @slytherindisaster (Gabriel Sapieha, Lysander Mercury) and @kc-and-co (Bradford Pendleton IV). Warning: serious Shakespeare blasphemy. I'm sorry.
The day had been overcast, and darkness come early over the Forbidden Forest. Swathes of mist rose from the moss and root covered ground, and the night was silent except for the rustling of fallen leaves, the soft sounds of the creatures that had ventured out under the cover of nightfall, and a resounding scraping sound as something heavy was dragged over a piece of stone, followed by a groan and the hasty shuffling of feet.
“How much further is it?”
“It can’t be very far, I daresay.”
“You said that ten minutes ago, Ethel. I swear I recognise this tree.”
“Hush, I believe I can see it from here. Quickly, now.”
Three figures stepped into an opening in the trees, in the middle of which the ground rose gently to a grass-covered mound. On it, bathed in the light of the full moon, six boulders of varying sizes had been erected to form a circle, in the middle of which a seventh stone lay on its side, forming what looked to be an altar.
It was there that the three girls, clad in skirts and blouses that marked them as students of the nearby Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, dragged the cauldron they had been pulling behind them. They were breathing heavily by the time they had made it to the top, and the faces of Ethel Hexley and Selene Fraser grew red as they hoisted the heavy metal pot on top of the horizontally lying stone.
Selene and Ethel had found the stone ring a couple of days ago while prowling the woods, and had been dying to return ever since. They had prepared diligently, but with the unsteadiness of the late October weather, it had taken them until the very last day of the month to make their way out into the Forbidden Forest again. They were chatting in hushed whispers amongst each other now, excitedly checking the contents of the bags slung around their shoulders.
Victoria, who had seen herself half-compelled, half-forced to accompany her dormmates, seemed less enthusiastic. She looked around uneasily, observing the shadows cast by the tall stone monuments. Wrapping her arms around herself to keep from shivering, she stepped closer to the stone altar.
“Are you finally going to tell me what this is all about?”
Ethel and Selene stopped whispering and shared a meaningful look.
“We have something special planned for tonight,” Selene said in a low voice.
“Something to mark the occasion,” Ethel agreed.
“We’ll do magic,” the two of them said in unison, the sable-coloured ferret that had appeared on Selene’s shoulder nodding his head as if in agreement.
Victoria looked between them sceptically. “But why come here? Why all that hustle? We could have just as well stayed at the castle.”
“Because, dearest Victoria,” Selene said and motioned at the stones surrounding them. “This place is special.”
“Most magical.”
“Of the utmost importance.”
Ethel paused, looking at Selene curiously. “It is?”
“It must be, must it not?” Selene shrugged. “Why endure all the hardships to set these stones up otherwise?”
“You must be right, of course.” Clapping her hands together, Ethel turned back to Victoria and pointed at the cauldron. “There is a spell that Selene and I have been wanting to attempt but Professor Sharp refuses to let us into the Potions classroom by ourselves after this most unfortunate incident with Carolyn Nyberg’s calming draught.”
“Which was not our fault, if I may say so.”
“Far from it.”
“The farthest.”
“And what did you need my help for?” Victoria asked patiently.
“See, the spell needs three wielders to succeed.”
“Three witches, to be precise.”
“And who would be more inclined, more perfectly suited to complete our trio than you?”
Victoria could think of a handful of people better suited; the matter of inclination was another one entirely but she chose to remain silent.
“Shall we begin then?”
Victoria was still at a loss for what was about to happen when she was directed to stand at the head of the stone, with Selene and Ethel facing each other on its side.
“You might want to take that,” Selene whispered to Victoria, producing a densely written note from the folds of her skirt. “We have it memorised.”
Victoria was just about to ask what she meant when Selene and Ethel began chanting, in grave, hushed voices that didn’t sound like them at all.
“Thrice the brinded cat hath mew’d. Thrice and once the hedge-pig whined. Harpier cries ‘Tis time, ‘tis time. Round about the cauldron go; In the poison’d entrails throw.”
They began moving to circle the stone altar with the now bubbling cauldron, underneath which Ethel had set fire.
“Toad that under cold stone Days and nights has thirty-one Sweltere’d venom sleeping got, Boil thou first i’ the charmed pot.”
Selene reached into her bag and pulled out a stoppered bottle which looked suspiciously like the ones Professor Sharp had on display behind his desk in the Potions classroom. She held it over the cauldron and shook its contents inside. The slimy green something that had fallen out sank to the bottom, and Selene and Ethel continued to sing, in a much louder, almost gleeful voice,
“Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn and cauldron bubble.”
“Hold on,” Victoria cried out. “Did you drag me out here to enact a play?”
“We never would even think of dragging you.”
“You walked quite by yourself.”
“And this is not any stupid spell from any stupid play we are putting to the test here. This is Macbeth!”
“By the greatest poet of all times.”
“The master of words.”
“The bard of bards.”
Wearily, Victoria held a hand up and the stream of chatter ceased. “And does Professor Sharp know you stole… borrowed one of his cauldrons and ingredients?”
Ethel and Selene exchanged a glance that had the sinking feeling in Victoria’s stomach intensify. She stifled the sigh lodged in her chest.
“Go on then.”
Breaking into smiles, Ethel began rummaging through her bag again, while Selene reached across the stone to squeeze Victoria’s hand. The chanting recommenced as Ethel produced a small parcel. In places, moisture had already seeped through the parchment, and Victoria could only briefly glimpse something reddish as its contents were tossed into the cauldron.
“Fillet of a fenny snake, In the cauldron boil and bake; Eye of newt and toe of frog, Wool of bat and tongue of dog, Adder’s fork and blind-worm’s sting, Lizard’s legs and owlet’s wing, For a charm of powerful trouble, ike a hell-broth boil and bubble.”
They continued in that fashion as ingredient after ingredient made its way into the cauldron. Selene and Ethel seemed to have acquired everything the recipe listed, adding newts’ eyes and lizards’ legs with more and more glee as the potion boiled up and began changing its colour, bathing the clearing in an eerily green glow.
“Liver of blaspheming Jew, Gall of goat, and slips of yew Sliver’d in the moon’s eclipse…”
“You didn’t actually put someone’s liver in there, did you?” Victoria asked with wide eyes.
“No,” said Ethel and sounded almost regretful. “A piece of someone’s liver is surprisingly hard to come by.”
Victoria chose not to comment on this. “Then what did you put in just now?”
“We got some calf liver from the kitchens. Did you have any luck with the Tartar’s lips, Selly?”
“No,” sighed Selene, “and not with the nose of Turk either. I asked Nilüfer Sultan if she cared to help out but she wouldn’t hear of it.”
“How rude.”
“Don’t you think so?”
“So can we go back now if you don’t have everything to complete the spell?”
“Oh Victoria, don’t be silly,” Selene laughed. “A good witch knows how to adapt!”
With pinched fingers, she pulled a tissue from her pocket and let it float into the cauldron, topping it up with something that Victoria could only assume to be a handful of ground meat. She and Ethel took up singing again.
“Cool it with a baboon’s blood, Then the charm is firm and good.”
Ethel produced a slender vial from her now empty bag, unstoppered it and poured some red liquid into the cauldron. She and Selene exchanged excited looks and stepped forward to peer inside. Victoria did not. The eerie green glow from before had vanished, the colour of the potion they had brewed changing disconcertingly fast. The soft sound of the bubbling had given way to a deeper rumble, too, making the metal pot shake on the stone altar.
“What exactly did you brew there?”
“We brewed a potion most potent and most fantastical.”
“Dare I say, the potion of potions.”
“I gathered,” said Victoria, brushing a lock of her hair behind her ear and watching the quivering cauldron from the corner of her eye. “But what does it do?”
Selene and Ethel stopped in their tracks.
“What do you mean, what does it do?”
“What are its effects? What’s going to happen now?” Victoria paled as a thought struck her. “I’m not going to drink it if that’s what you intended.”
“Well, in the play, Macbeth is supposed to see apparitions telling him of his fate now.”
“There is no Macbeth here, though, and no apparitions either.”
Ethel and Selene looked at each other shrugging, as if the thought had only now occurred to them. Feeling suddenly more stupid than possibly endangered, she crossed her arms in front of her chest.
“I can’t believe you two,” she sternly told her friends. “Every time I think you can’t get anymore silly you top my expectations. Not only that you drag me away from the Halloween feast in the middle of the night to clamber over sticks and stones with a stolen - yes, Ethel, stolen - cauldron, you didn’t even spent a thought at the purpose of such a doing, or what might possibly come off it!”
“But we did!” Selene protested loudly. She was barely audible of the rumble of the potion. It splashed higher and higher, and glowed brighter and brighter, coming up as high as if someone had thrown a stone into water. “In the play —“
“‘Play’ being the operative word here,” Victoria scoffed. “Did you really think I would fancy seeing a severed head and a bloody baby telling me about my doom?” She snorted. “Pray, forgive me if I do decline.”
Selene looked torn between feeling sorry to have upset her friend and the righteous urge to prove Victoria wrong, while Ethel geared herself up to defend their endeavour. Before it could come to it, however, the light changed yet again. With a resounding boom, the cauldron shot up into the air and came crashing down with a loud bang, bouncing off one of the vertical stones as it did so.
Victoria and Ethel gasped as they jumped away from the glowing drops flying their way. Selene shrieked and pressed Alan to her chest with one hand, rubbing at a stain on her skirt with the other. The formerly peaceful, moonlit clearing was reduced to chaos, but when suddenly a low, agony-filled moan reached them from the blackness of the trees, the three girls and one ferret froze.
Alan gave a whimper, clambering up onto Selene’s shoulder. Selene held him and stroked his fur, but her excitedly glittering eyes were trained on the darkness ahead. She started towards it with a couple of determined steps, but Victoria caught her by her sleeve and pulled her back. Reluctantly, she turned and followed her fleeing friends, quick footsteps carrying them away from the stone circle and back towards the castle.
When they were gone, the moaning and groaning stopped. A rustle sounded in the underbrush beyond the clearing, and from the darkness four figures emerged, three of them grinning broadly, and one not so much, slowly trailing behind the others. They approached the clearing, standing in the middle of the exploded potion with three of them on one side, and the remaining on the other.
“Pleasure doing business with you, gentlemen,” said Gabriel Sapieha, watching his vandalised surroundings with a look of profound satisfaction.
“Anytime, old chap.” Bradford Pendleton hooked the toe of his boot under the handle of the cauldron and pushed it back into a standing position. Curiously, he peered inside. “Who would have thought that my tempering with potion recipes would not result in failure for once?”
“Carolyn Nyberg would be proud of you.”
Brady chuckled. “I certainly hope not. Good aim, Mercury.”
“Thank you. Did you see their faces?” asked Lysander Mercury with a grin. He screwed up his face and it morphed into the features of Ethel Hexley, her eyes wide and her mouth rounded to a perfect circle as Ethel-Lysander waved his arms above his head in a hysterical gesture. He held his stomach as he laughed. “This was priceless, gentlemen, absolutely priceless.”
“If you say so,” Jim Hexley mumbled, watching as the hair on his friend’s head turned back to its original golden shade and he looked like himself again. “Are we quite done now? There are honeyed cakes at the feast. I’d be loath to miss them.”
“Not afraid of the dark, are we, old chap?”
Jim was spared a reply when something - or someone? - moved beyond the treeline. A low howl carried through the moonlit night toward them, swelling in volume and pitch. The boys in the clearing looked at each other uneasily. Jim swallowed.
“It hasn’t worked, though, has it? The potion?”
“Don’t be a fool, Hexley,” said Lysander, but he didn’t look away from where the howl had come from. “It is bound to be a wolf or something.”
“You sound like that wouldn't be a problem in itself.”
The howling took up again. The four boys looked up at the full moon hanging silvery above their heads and back at each other.
“I say we make for the castle,” Gabriel suggested in a light tone but his eyes never left the shadow of the trees. “My friends are eager to hear of our success, and we wouldn’t want Jim to miss his honeyed cakes, would we?”
They all agreed, and so left the clearing. One by one they stepped onto the path leading under the canopy of trees, which Jim could swear looked darker than it had upon their arrival. He was the last to follow, and he cast one look back at the stone circle across his shoulder. The cauldron still sat where it had fallen, now upright again, in a ring of glowing specks of potion, which shimmered ominously in the moonlight.
A shiver running down his spine, Jim turned away, hurrying his steps to catch up with his friends toward the warmth and safety of the brightly lit castle.

Weekend With The Grays
Tumblr media
𝟔𝒕𝒉 𝒐𝒇 𝑫𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓— 𝑻𝒓𝒖𝒕𝒉 𝒐𝒓 𝑫𝒂𝒓𝒆? pt.1/?
Lady Gray's dormmates had gathered in Lady Gray's luxurious bed. While Siobhan looked at her blue, grey and purple decor, Roxie and Gwen giggled at something and Nadia settled beside Primrose as her closest friend.
“So, I suppose any of you has played Truth or Dare?” Primrose asked.
Nadia nodded and so did Siobhan “The Gryffindorks and I play it most of the time!”
Gwen and Niamh nodded negatively. Prim shrugged “It's simple enough. We spin the bottle and we ask someone 'truth or dare' and if that person answers truth, she must answer one question truthfully, and if she chooses dare, she must do something someone tells them, for example, prank somebody!”
Siobhan smirked ruefully and Gwen and Niamh looked at her in horror, knowing her, it wouldn't end up well.
The maid served eggnog to compensate the fear as Primrose spun the bottle, landing in front of Roxanne “Truth or Dare, Roxie?”
“Mm... Truth!”
Primrose mulled over the question before asking with a knowing smirk “How good of a kisser is Sapieha?”
Roxanne and Gwen giggled “Good enough.”
The women erupted in giggles as Siobhan mimicked a rather exaggerated way of kissing as she teased Roxanne with phrases regarding her 'version' of a snogging between Gabriel and Roxanne, thing that made them all laugh.
Roxanne spun the bottle and landed on Niamh “Truth or Dare, Niamh?”
“I'll go with truth.”
Roxanne mulled over the question before going easy on her “What are you looking forward in the holidays?”
Niamh smiled “See my family again and sing carols in front of the fire.”
Niamh spun the bottle, which landed on Nadia. She decided to be merciful on her “Truth or Dare, Nadia?”
“Dare!”
Niamh asked for assistance for her friends and they plotted for two minutes before Niamh cleared her throat “I dare you to put on some red chapstick, break into Mr. Seymour's table and kiss him on the cheek, leaving a mark.”
Primrose gladly led her best friend to the other corner of the estate and looked into the big poker room. Her father arched an eyebrow at Miss Erbland with her lips red but said nothing as she sneaked behind Jesse's chair and her hand cupped his jaw and kissed him, a bright red mark on his porcelain skin. His inmates barked a laugh as he blushed rather violently as both women took the scene to flee the crime scene.
Nadia and Primrose giggled and stopped in the now empty ballroom, doubling of laughter “Did you see his face?” Primrose laughed.
“Something tells me he'll lose that round.” Nadia commented between giggles, her hands on her knees as they both realised that they were with their hair down and in their nightgowns. They thanked goodness it was winter and not summer... It would've been a scandal.
They came back and Nadia spun the bottle, that landed on Gwen “Truth or Dare, Gwen?”
“Hm, dare”
Nadia smiled mischievously “I dare you to send a Howler saying something embarrasing to one of the Gryffindorks.”
They all decided to go for Emerson and they wrote together the Howler, between giggles and pure mischief. They sent it and waited for the results. All over the estate, they could hear it perfectly
YOUR HAIR LOOKS LIKE IT WAS LICKED BY A COW, EMERSON!!
The women erupted in laughter as they could hear the men's laughter and teasings over Emerson as well.
Now it was Mira's turn, and they all looked at her with a smirk. Gwen asked “Truth or Dare, Mira?”
“...I'm doomed either way, am I?” She sighed “Truth.”
“How much do you like Mr. Hawthorne?”
She bit her lip and looked away bashfully “Very.” Her cheeks reddened.
The women erupted in cheers and Mira chugged enthusiastically her bottle of Chardonnay and soon it was Primrose's turn. Mira beckoned Nadia and the both of them plotted before asking “Truth or Dare, Prim?”
“...What the hell, dare!”
Nadia and Mira giggled “We dare you to crash Mr. Yaxley's game and say this to his ear...” they whispered it to her ear and her eyes went wide! But at the same time... It'd be Laurent's turn to be flustered.
“Alright.”
Mira and Nadia escorted Primrose to where Laurent's desk was and she strided the room confidently, sashaying her hips the right way to Laurent before whispering to his ear coyly “While you clean up nice, I rather much prefer the sight of you bare.” She kissed his cheek, close to his lips and exited the room holding back her giggle. The moment they were away from the wing, they all erupted in giggles and Primrose was bright red.
“I can't believe I did that!” They all giggled before running back to the room, where they told the story and the girls erupted in cheers and giggles.
“Maybe this game is not so bad...” Niamh smiled.
“Another round?” Gwen asked.
They all agreed in cheers, unbottling another wine.

surprise, @slytherindisaster !! i was your secret santa this year, and i wrote a little drabble for you :)
massive thanks to @hphmsecretsanta for making this possible :)
gabriel sapieha had his knees tucked up to his chest and a blanket thrown over him. it was cold for sure, but the smell of the very old book in his lap was intoxicating.
winter was a nice season, after all.
cocoa, coffee, the scent of vanilla and baked goods, and even pine filled the air, mingling together in a way that ticked his nose (though just a bit).
the gryffindor common room was a nice place to spend his last weekend before going home for christmas, for sure. he wasn’t quite sure where his dormmates had got off to, but it was alright. nothing much to worry about.
he tapped a finger against the side of his chair, though he didn’t seem to notice. the chill in the air was mere background to the way he devoured the book. his wand tucked in his pocket and a roaring fire in the hearth were all that he needed.

𝐀𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞
A/N: For @hp-12monthsofmagic’s April prompt (“I solemnly swear that I am up to no good”). I saw the prompt and knew immediately that it belonged to the Gryffindorks. Thus, Tadhg’s partners in crime, Teddy and Gabriel, belong to @cursebreakerfarrier and @slytherindisaster.
Tumblr media
The wind howled as the rain slashed across the windows, obscuring all visibility towards the outside. Thunder rumbled. Lightning flashed. Inside the warmth of the drafty castle, Hogwarts was surprisingly quiet. Most of its students were in class, aside from the handful of classes that were canceled due to the onslaught of the cold and violent April thunderstorm.
Inside the library, three dark-haired Gryffindors had their heads bent together, poring over a book on jinxes. Their herbology class had been canceled due to the storm, which had suddenly left the three fifth years with free time. They had immediately headed up towards the library, with the intent of studying for their OWLs which were rapidly approaching. But, that had all been left behind when they had discovered the book.
“This one could be quite useful,” Tadhg Lynch muttered, pointing to a jinx whose intention was to turn the recipient into a duck.
“Yeah, but it’s kinda boring, Tadhg. Why turn someone into a duck when you could just use flipendo?” Teddy Ellison replied, tipping his chair backwards.
“It is interesting that there’s a whole section on jinxes to turn people into animals, though. Like who would think to turn their opponent into a duck or a chicken or even a worm,” Gabriel Sapieha mused, looking up from the book.
“My brother would probably make a good worm,” Tadhg mumbled, causing the other two boys to burst out laughing, earning a glare from the librarian.
“Uh, lads…” Gabriel began, elbowing Teddy into the gut.
Tadhg, who was tipping his chair back and trying to get it to stay steady on just the back two legs, looked up to see their head of house and promptly lost the balance that he had gained. The chair, and Tadhg, clattered to the ground with a resounding echo. Gryffindor’s head cast a disapproving look towards the three boys.
“Ellison. Lynch. Sapieha. Just the three I was looking for. Come with me,” the professor said, standing as the three boys scrambled to clear the table and pack their bags.
The walk back to their head’s office was a long and tense one. Tadhg had an inkling that he knew why they had been dragged into the head’s office. Someone had discovered the swamp that they had been growing in a seldom used corridor. Or the professor had discovered who had filled the Slytherins’ bathrooms with frog spawn. Or that they were the ones to enchant all the portraits in the castle to have the most absurd facial hair that they could think of. Or that they had been the ones to make the stairs move… even though Tadhg still wasn’t sure how they had managed that one. Or… okay, so Tadhg didn’t know exactly why they were being dragged into their head’s office.
“Take a seat,” Gryffindor’s head said, gesturing to the three chairs as they entered the office.
The three boys glanced at one another, but one glance at the professor told them all that they needed to know.
“You’ll be happy to know that we have finally put an end to the profanity that was coming from the griffin to Headmaster Black’s office,” the professor began and Tadhg swallowed to stifle a laugh, willing himself not to glance at either Teddy or Gabriel. He had forgotten about that one.
“It was quite a task, removing that spell. And after narrowing down our considerable suspect list, we have determined that you three were responsible. Brava for creativity and not involving Mr. Lynch’s brother this time.”
“Ah, professor, how can you be so sure that it was us?” Teddy asked.
“Answer me this, Mr. Ellison, why are you three always nearby when something happens?”
“Sheer coincidence, professor,” Teddy replied in the most innocent-sounding tone he could muster. Except Tadhg caught Gabriel’s eye at that moment and the dam burst. The laugh slipped out and soon enough the three boys had dissolved into giggles. Their professor let out a long-suffering sigh.
“And without a doubt, you three are clearly responsible. You will serve detention for all Friday evenings until OWL examinations have finished.”

Harry Potter Hogwarts Legacy Appreciation Week - Day 4: Favorite Ships by Moots
Hey guys! This is the fourth entry for @endlessly-cursed’s fantastic HPHL Appreciation Week. Today the focus is on other people’s ships! Y’all have made some wonderful couples and friend groups/duos! There are so many of them that again it is a challenge to narrow down which ones will be featured for the post. Anyway here goes:
Tedelia - Adelia Selwyn @thatravenpuffwitch and @cursebreakerfarrier
Slytherin and Gryffindor in love and getting along like peas and carrots? It’s hard to believe for the common student but if the passion is there it is going to happen. Dear Addy is far from the stereotype of her house and she is so wonderful and compassionate! Teddy and his dormmates are a group of chaotic Gryffindors but they love their gals all the same. Together he and Addy have built a beautiful family with three great kiddos. Danny is a frequent visitor to the Selwyn-Ellison household and he loves Teddy, Addy and their kids so much!! He considers the kids part of his found family just as much as their parents, they’re like nephews and nieces to him and he tries to find them great gifts for their birthdays and Christmas celebrations. Danny has always been close with Teddy and Adelia - he and Teddy are colleagues as aurors and he stops by to see Adelia frequently while working in France. The role that Tedelia has in Danny’s life is why it is number one on this list!
Roxariel - Gabriel Sapieha @slytherindisaster and Roxie Haley @beloved-bucky
This wholesome ship reaches number two spot by a close margin to Tedelia. I cannot decide which should be number two because its more like that it and Tedelia hold equal places in my book. Still this ship is one of my favorites because the gal in here is Danny’s sister figure and best friend Roxie! Gabriel is also a dear friend to him! He is protective of Danny and cares a lot for his well-being, where to he would put himself in harm’s way to keep him safe. The dynamic for Roxariel is unique - I just love how Gabriel and Roxie are still able to love each other so much even though she is a vampire. In a time where racism and supremacy still dominate the wizarding world, this couple can be an example of how minorities can still achieve successful and fulfilling lives just like regular people. Danny is also very grateful to have Gabriel and Roxie in his life and they’re very dear to him - his life would never be complete in their absence.
Galehan - Siobhan Llewelyn @kc-and-co and Galen Stagg @cursebreakerfarrier
Two sweethearts that have it all. Their story is about living life to the fullest. Bonding over a love of magizoology and outdoorsy-ness, Bon-bon and Galen live a very unique and epic lifestyle with many connections around the world. They look over many creature reserves in several countries - one of which is located in the U.S. state of Arizona. Danny vibes with the couple over their appreciation and reverence of the outdoors, reminding him of the better angels of his old home far away. He loves Bon-bon so much and they’ve been best buddies since their Hogwarts days. Galen is such a sweet and soft boy with great compassion and acceptance for minority groups which Danny really appreciates! When working in America he often stays at one of the reserves under the care of Shiv and Galen and is always happy to see them and hear about their latest adventures!
Reubeila - Leila Hellebore @whatwouldvalerydo and Reuben Willows @that-scouse-wizard
While I don’t bring up this ship much it still deserves recognition. Like Roxariel, this ship is another great example of how normally disadvantaged groups in wizarding society are still capable of having romantic feelings, falling in love, getting married and raising a family! Reuben is an awesome quidditch mate of Danny and Leila is a Slytherin lady with demon heritage. Like him they’re both are the type that may seem intimating on the outside but on the inside they’re just amazing friends who do great things for those they know and do their best to give back!

The Adventures of Alan the Ferret
The Rescue Mission
Tumblr media
A/N: Happy Birthday to my free-spirited Highland gal Selene! May your whiskey never dry, stories never get boring and fire never go out. Stay wild, moon child ❤️ Ethel Hexley belongs to my wonderful @the-al-chemist, Gabriel Sapieha (in mention) to @slytherindisaster
Twelve-year old Selene Fraser was seldomly nervous. She didn’t bat an eye at sneaking out at night, balancing over the thinnest of ledges, or diving headfirst into the fray on her broomstick on the hunt for the Golden Snitch.
Today, however, she was sat at the back of the Transfiguration classroom like a cat on a hot tin roof, her foot bouncing rapidly and her eyes fixed on the clock ticking above the dais with the teacher’s desk.
When the deep sound of the bell ringing inside the clockwork tower signalled the end of their class, the assembled students packed away their things. One after the other they filed into the back of the classroom to put away the ferrets they had transfigured into feather dusters, to be untransfigured by some unfortunate first-years.
Professor Figg, the good-humoured Transfiguration teacher, was walking up and down the rows of tables, checking for leftover props, forgotten quills or parchment. When he walked by Selene’s table, he paused.
“Is anything the matter, Miss Fraser?”
Selene stopped squirming in her seat and slowly looked up at her teacher. “Not at all. Why would anything be the matter?”
“Because all of your classmates seem to have packed their things and you’re the only one still lingering behind. Have you stowed away your feather duster?
“Ethel did it for me, Sir” Selene answered dutifully. As soon as she had said it, Ethel Hexley, Selene’s best friend and Transfiguration partner, appeared next to her table.
“That I did, Sir,” Ethel said and looked at him so innocently that Professor Figg couldn’t help but notice a sinking feeling building inside his stomach. Ethel ushered Selene out of her seat and the two girls quickly made for the door, but it was still blocked by their classmates. They tried pushing through them but were stopped by the voice of Professor Figg calling them back.
“Miss Fraser, Miss Hexley. A word, please.”
Selene and Ethel stiffened and exchanged glances before reluctantly returning to the teacher’s desk at the front of the classroom.
“What is the matter, Sir?” Ethel asked with an overly concerned frown. Selene didn’t say anything; she stood next to Ethel fidgeting nervously. She brushed her hand up and down her skirts and shifted her weight from one foot to the other. Professor Figg looked at her curiously but she kept her eyes fixed to the top of his desk.
“I seem to be short a feather duster,” he said slowly, not taking his eyes off Selene. “You two wouldn’t happen to have seen it anywhere, would you? Miss Fraser?”
“No, why would we?” Ethel answered in Selene’s stead, her eyes wide with wonder. “I did take both of our feather dusters back, like all of us did. You saw me coming back, didn’t you? Where would I have come from had I not been putting both of them where they belonged? And what would we do with a feather duster, in any case? I see no reason why we would know about the missing subject’s whereabouts.”
“As elaborate as your defence is, Miss Hexley, the two of you have managed to build a reputation for stirring up trouble.”
“That is defamation. Sir,” Ethel added indignantly when she saw Professor Figg’s eyebrows rise. “Whatever you heard, Sapieha and his comrades started it. We would never do anything to intentionally cause trouble.”
“Trouble has made it a habit of finding us,” Selene shrugged and Ethel elbowed her into the side. Selene gave a little shriek and gripped the fabric of her skirt tightly. She bit her lip and her face twisted as if she was in pain. Both Ethel and Professor Figg looked at her, one in slight alarm, the other in astonished concern.
“Miss Fraser, are you alright?”
Selene had gone pale in the face. She didn’t answer but nodded frantically.
“Are you certain? Your demeanour is most peculiar.”
Ethel looked between their teacher and her friend and gave a deep sigh that sounded as if she had to bring herself to speak.
“I am truly sorry, Selly dear,” she said and looked at Selene apologetically, “but we do need to tell him the truth. As our teacher, he is most concerned about your welfare, after all.” Looking left and right as if to make sure they were really alone in the classroom, she lowered her voice to almost a whisper. “Selene is quite unwell. The beans for lunch, you understand? Selene can’t help herself when it comes to beans, always over-indulging herself. I keep telling her, but she just won’t listen.”
Selene glared at Ethel but moved her free hand to her stomach while the other was still clutching her skirts. She rolled her eyes dramatically and groaned as if in sudden pain. “Would you let us go, Sir? My stomach is really rather upset.” To prove her point, she started dry-heaving and Professor Figg quickly stepped to the side.
“Merlin, of course,” he stammered, not sure what to do with the now writhing and wailing girl in front of him. “Escort Miss Fraser to the Hospital Wing, Miss Hexley, will you?”
Ethel linked arms with the doubled over Selene and pulled her toward the door. “No need, Professor. My dear mamma used to give my brother Jimmy a ginger root to chew when his stomach was upset. That happened to him every other day, the poor soul. Papa said it was his constant state of agitation, but I’m not entirely sure what he meant with that. Whatever would Jimmy be agitated about? Let’s go and get you a ginger root, shall we, Selly?”
Selene glanced up at Ethel from beneath her dark hair which had fallen into her eyes after a particularly dramatic impression of a stomach cramp. “Are you sure you’re actually supposed to chew a whole root, Effy?”
“Of course you are. Don’t I give the impression that I know what I’m doing? That must the sickness speaking out of you. Or the beans, whoever might know?”
The two girls had been moving towards the door while they were speaking and were almost through it when the voice of Professor Figg sounded behind their back.
“What about my feather duster?”
“We will keep an eye out for it,” Ethel called over her shoulder and with that, she and Selene had made it through the door and out of the classroom. They just so managed to maintain their composure until they had rounded the corner and were out of earshot before they burst into laughter and started running.
When they reached the Gryffindor common room, they barged up the steps to their dormitory and threw the door shut behind them. As soon as Ethel had made sure that the door was looked, Selene carefully let go of the lump of fabric in her dress she had been holding. She lifted the black skirt of her uniform to reveal the petticoat underneath, shaking it slightly. When nothing happened, she frowned and shook it with more force. She started jumping up and down until eventually a brown ball of fur dropped onto the floor. After a moment it unfurled to reveal a small and lithe body with a long, bushy tail. The ferret righted itself, shook his little head and looked around himself in confusion.
“I can’t believe it worked,” Selene whispered and stared at the ferret in awe.
“Of course it worked,” Ethel said matter-of-factly, “the plan was infallible. I don’t see what could possibly have gone wrong.”
Selene only raised her head shortly before concentrating on the ferret again. “A few things come to mind.”
“One of them being your acting skills. You certainly won’t win a price for subtlety anytime soon.”
“My acting skills are marvellous!”
“If I ever need to cast a woman wailing herself to death I know who I shall turn to.”
“Can you even fathom what it feels like to carry a ferret beneath your petticoat?”
“Do I look like I would know?”
“It wouldn’t keep still and it bit me. Look!” Selene cried out and presented a narrow set of two angry red puncture holes on her thigh where the ferret had nipped her. She prodded the spot with her finger and a drop of blood started forming. Selene unceremoniously wiped it off with her sleeve. She suddenly stopped and looked at Ethel with wide eyes. “That’s not dangerous, is it?”
“Don’t be ridiculous, Selly. Have you ever heard of ferret bites being poisonous?”
“I don’t think so.”
“See? We shall not worry about it. But do let me know if you feel like you’re about to faint. Mamma taught me how to use aromatic salt after I made Jimmy faint three times in a row.”
“I shall.” Selene let her skirts drop and kneeled down in front of the ferret. “I don’t even know why we rescued you. It was utterly rude not to cooperate with us when we had nothing but your best interests at heart.”
The ferret made a little chirruping sound and tilted its head, staring at Selene out of big, dark eyes. Her face softened and she extended her hand to touch the soft fur. “Look at you pretending to be a nice, well-mannered critter. Why, you are quite the little rascal, aren’t you?” she giggled as the ferret climbed up her skirt and back and peeked its head out from in between Selene’s hair. She took him off and held it out to Ethel for closer inspection.
“Whatever shall we name him, Effy?”
“What do you think about Biscuit?”
Selene made a doubtful noise. “That doesn’t strike me as very clever. Is Biscuit even a proper name for a ferret?”
“I’d wager that it is not,” Ethel shrugged, “but I’d fancy some.”
Selene looked at the ferret again. “He doesn’t strike me as the type of ferret to be named after a treat. But I do suggest we go and get some.”
“Splendid. Something less exciting than Biscuit then.”
“Most things are less exciting than biscuits.”
“Naturally. What do you think of Alan?”
“Why Alan?”
“Our Potions Master is called Alan, I believe. His eyes are just as beady.”
“What a keen observation.” Selene brought the ferret closer to her face. “How do you like Alan? Do you want this to be your name?”
The ferret yawned widely, wrapped its tail around Selene’s wrist and snuggled deeper into her hands. A smile formed on her face as she held the animal closer to her chest.
“That is good enough for me. Welcome to the family, Alan.”
