random geist-isms i want to put in writing lest i forget them

‣ they pretty much never eat with their hands, even for foods it would be expected to. they are the type of person to cut up a pizza into small pieces and eat it with a fork. even for stuff like sandwiches they pick it up with a napkin instead of with their bare hands

‣ despite what people seem to assume about them at times, they don't really like anything that's overly sweet with them preferring bitter or spicy food. they especially like those chocolate bars that have chili flakes in them. which is a treat that is annoying for them to eat since they break it up into the little squares and then tear off part of the wrapper to pick up each piece to eat it

‣ they are incredibly touchy with people but only if they initiate the contact, they won't get angry if someone else touches them but they will immediately back away and wipe off wherever they were touched

‣ in general it's rare for geist to show any sort of real anger, they usually just play everything off as a joke

‣ they grew up as a mama's boy* and have never been particularly close with their father which obviously became an issue when their mother died when they were 12. their father remarried 2 years later which geist has always had an issue with even though they don't have anything actually against their step-mother [adam's mom]

‣ despite not being close with their dad, they are close with their extended family especially their grandfather [on their dad's side, also was geist i] and their aunt [on their mother's side]

‣ when in school they had the tenacity to keep everyone, besides angie, at a certain distance. they would happily talk with people and most people had a pretty favourable impression of them but no one could really say much actually about them as a person

‣ once angie graduated, geist didn't really have anyone to actually hang out with at school so they picked up the habit of just hanging out in after school clubs while waiting for angie or occasionally adam to stop being busy. this is how they met bianca, since she was in the computer club. not that they were actually very close but she still apparently left enough of a impression for geist to later invite her to be a thief

‣ people's general impression of them in school was this "that one gay guy into lupin who's friends with angie" or "[they're] nice enough but don't seem to like talking about [themself]" or "occhio fino" [<- more polite-ish version of finocchio which is basically italian for faggot]

‣ unsure if i have to actually say it after the last point but they historically haven't been out as non-binary to anyone but their close friends + family. although most people due figure out their some form of queer just from how they are, of course hanging out with angie [world's most obvious butch lesbian] doesn't help. geist themselves doesn't really label their sexuality [i would say they identify generally as queer, but i've had little luck finding a similar word in italian so...]

reasons why geistverse ocs have relationship issues

geist got turned off romance pretty early since they dated one of adam's friends when they were younger which was the world's worst impression and resulted in adam cutting off said friend. either way geist just generally doesn't prioritize romance at all, they don't really see the need in some one and only since y'know they already have angie. but they do flirt which is how they kinda ended up with luci although of course they end up leaving cause of the commitment issues [commitment to romance, their commitment to the bit is unparalleled]

angie wants romance so so bad. she wants to sweep a girl off her feet and by god does she try, it just never seems to work out. she is not by any means someone to pine, if she's interested she's going to ask them out, and the sheer number of times she gets rejected doesn't seem to stop her from getting up and trying again. sometimes the girl rejects her immediately, some inexplicable part of her intolerable, while other times its after the first date, maybe after a few, and on one absolutely soul crushing time it was after a year. sometimes its her, she's too butch or not butch enough or they think her interests are stupid. but most of the time it's geist, they crosses some line on the acceptable level you can mention your best friend [and the acceptable number of times they can crash your date or cause you to leave cause they've gotten into some sort of trouble]

adam thinks he would like romance in theory, the idea of someone loving him and being obsessed with him sounds great. but by the time he's actually in a relationship or on a date he finds himself picking out some minor flaw about them and why it would never work and how actually he kinda hates them. its just a constant loop of flirting with someone, being genuinely interested and thinking maybe this time it'll work, but never going on another date after the first cause they're too blond and two blonds dating is weird or something similarly inane.

bianca self esteem is so low and she doesn't put herself out there at all that she just never gets anywhere. she gets a crush on almost anyone who is nice to her, especially guys, but she finds the idea of actually confessing to anyone paralyzing so she just relegates herself to hoping someday someone will confess to her. an idea she thinks is incredibly unlikely despite how much her mom tries to reassure her that she is very pretty and that guys should be swooning over her

luci just doesn't have good taste. a fact he didn't know until recently since he just really find himself interested in dating anyone until geist. if he was anyone else he might have thought he was aro but if you had asked him he would of just said it wasn't something he worried and he was sure he'd find someone who was his type. it just turns out his type is short twink-adjacent thieves who are going to end up manipulating him and then leaving him. unfortunate :/

dan surrendered himself at a young age to just forever being in love with luci [someone who he assumed was straight and just very picky] and never having someone. of course this wasn't a fact he told anyone, except watson, the rat, as he was very good at keeping secrets. he just decided to devote himself to studying and his work and dying alone but hopefully accomplished. to say the least he took the revelation that the man he was in love with was dating the thief he was chasing very badly

imagining how messy the luci geist dating reveal was [mostly for dan lets be real, he was having a mental breakdown]

dan was already upset when luci told him he was dating someone but refused to introduce them, a fact he vented about to bianca once they started seeing each other. only to end up feeling very vindicated when luci and his mystery partner broke up, of course he ended up feeling bad about how happy he felt considering how completely heartbroken luci was afterwards. it went on like that for a few months with dan comforting luci while still being kinda mad luci refused to really actually talk about who he was even dating.

then one day geist shows up at his doorstep out of nowhere pleading their case cause they are currently getting framed for murder and dan is the only detective they trust. dan is maybe willing to listen until luci walks in, sees geist, and immediately starts bawling. geist reveals why "wait, he never told you? we dated." dan is now mad a both geist for dating the man he's been in love with for practically his whole life and at luci for dating the fucking thief he's been trying to catch for over a year now. then the other thieves show up to try and fix whatever the hell is going on.

but then dan sees bianca, his girlfriend, there. who is apparently also a thief and never told him. but more importantly! she knew that geist was the one who was dating and subsequently broke luci's heart and didn't tell him

to say the least the fact that dan ever managed to end up helping geist with the whole framed for murder thing at all is a miracle, dan is a saint
