I simply think you all need to see the most gay betrayal arc incident from giant robo. these two characters are like barely plot relevant at all btw they only show up in the last 2 episodes of the OVA to serve cunt and kill eachother

Happy (early) White day! 🖤🤍
White day is a holiday in which people give reciprocal gifts to those who gave them gifts one month after Valentine's day. I wonder who's lucky enough to get gifts from these two.

I've decided that Giant Robo OVA has three sets of onscreen marrieds. Two husband pairs and a token straight couple.

It's Fitzgerald day! (8/8) Unfortunately, I'll be having surgery done today, so won't be online much. I drew these a couple days ago to post now.
(I hope Fitzgerald wishes me good luck)

Happy 30th anniversary to Giant Robo: The day the earth stood still! Thank you for having the best cast of villains I've ever seen. 🔺🔥
Reblogs are appreciated!
This piece took me eight days and around twenty hours to complete, it’s the longest I’ve spent on a single drawing. A work in progress gif is under the cut.

10 Characters Meme
@fallintosanity tagged me, as is their wont, so here’s a list. 10 favorite characters from 10 different things, and then tag 10 people (but I probably won’t tag that many lmao)
Also how would one even order these, I just love these characters the end. also this is super long so I put it under a read more.
1. Red, from Transistor - Beautiful depressed songbird with??? the drama of revenge and grief and too much lost in a city she probably loved very dearly??? Aside from the fact that she’s a very depressed AU of my OC Avel (redhead determinator, hell ye), I just. Love her so much. I love her bodyguard too (and here we are at the bodyguard trope), but like. I’ll refer to her as my wife, I don’t care. Me and Mr Nobody, we’re same hat about Red.
2. Taisou, from Giant Robo: The Day the Earth Stood Still - Listen, the whole damn cast is incredible from start to finish (even the ones who are in like one scene, I’m still !!! about Fabulous Fitzgerald, what a guy), but I’m a soft spot for Taisou. He’s found family big brother, he’s serious, he’s fun, he should’ve been a dad guy but the previous X amount of story we don’t see hindered him from getting a chance with his big strong wife Youshi, his rivalry with Shockwave Alberto, his wins and losses, his SHEER DETERMINED AUDACITY, all of it! This OVA is 7 episodes and there are a bunch of characters that need screen time, but he’s still prevalent in that screen time he gets, and I’ll remember him always. (also I’ll die for the original dub bc his voice is Nostalgic to me but also it just hits different okay.)
fuck I am shit awful terrible at lists
3. Nausicaa, from Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind - She’s... a wind child, she’s a princess with Terrible Purpose, she’s kind, she’s ferocious, she’s empathetic, she’s someone with gravitas and maturity and I looked up to her and I wanted to be her in equal measures as a kid (hey @ me if you knew her as Zandra from the release of a dub that was titled Warriors of the Wind lmao). I have a beautiful hardcover set of the manga, and it’s one of my most precious books. I know wanting to be her would be. Miserable. The world she lives in is a crapshoot world, but still. BUT STILL. That’s the kind of power I want to have in creating a world; even when survival is nigh impossible, you still want to See this world and Know it. And her character existing in this world is just so. I don’t know how to describe someone who is like her and her connection to her world.
4. Noctis, from Final Fantasy XV - I debated about choosing Ignis, I love me some Ignis, but Noctis is my son and he’s also a child with Terrible Purpose who has so much in him. His connection with his friends, his want to be Normal but understanding that he Cannot Be Normal, his smile and his love of animals and us both going “Beeeeeans?” in the same tone of dismay and his ache over wanting to grieve and mourn the loss of his dad and home but!!! that Terrible Purpose drives him onward relentlessly!!! (your daily dose of FUCK BAHAMUT, by the way. Fuck that guy.) I already knew I was gonna like FF15, I don’t care what anyone else opinions about it. I am genuinely surprised, four years later, how much I love and care about Noctis. I know my fictional types, I know what characters I go for, but I wasn’t expecting to wholly adopt him as my fictional son.
5. Noriko Takaya, from Gunbuster: Aim for the Top! - I watched a fair number of OVAs as a kid, moving on. I’m listing her because she’s a character I go back to often enough in my memories to make her meaningful. She’s just a kid, even when I was younger than her I thought of her as a kid. She’s 17, thrown into a space battle because.... Destiny, basically (it’s more mundane than that but honestly it’d boil down to Destiny), and she struggles! She doesn’t have the training, she’s constantly having to play catch-up, she’s got Trauma about space that doesn’t go away, she’s just a kid in the way the others in this same space war aren’t!!! And she’s pushed hard by external forces, until she has nothing to lose and risks it all. And her core of strength unlocked after that is... painful, hard-earned, but it’s there. She lost p much any chance of ordinary life because of this Destiny, it’s changed her and her relationships with the people she knew forever. Still, she goes where that call takes her.
6. Link, in this case from Majora’s Mask/Ocarina of Time - Listen, I’m a basic bitch, he’s my type, I really came to video games over the course of experiencing Majora’s Mask, and the personality he’s been given in associated fan things that tie back to OoT/MM make him probably the Most Important Link to me. (admittedly my favorite baby is ALBW Link, but if the chips are down, I’ll probs think of OoT/MM Link first.) This wanderer of time, this Lost Child, blessed as a Kokiri, a born Hylian, Sworn Brother of the Gorons, beloved (punching bag) of the Goddesses, both ordinary boy and Hero, I like to think of him and I like filling in spaces left in his personality bc he’s an avatar meant for the player. He travels the whole of Hyrule in two separate times, the whole of Termina, and he’s also a kid with Terrible Purpose put upon him without really understanding how to avert the things he’s trying to avert. He and Zelda, just two kids who get in over their heads way too quick. And in MM, he’s a kid stuck in a world he doesn’t know anything about while he searches for his friend, and still, his capacity for kindness is there. He helps people, he finds out their stories, and that’s a hella cool aspect of the game okay. Anyway, I love this Link and he’s part of my life.
7. Jak, from Jak and Daxter - FUCK IT, WE’RE ON PROTAGONIST LOVING HOURS TONIGHT. I loved him as a mute jumpy boy with long ears and a trash-talking bff he turned into an ottsel, I loved him as a TRAUMA BOY with gravel in his throat and anger issues that couldn’t be handled in a world like Haven City, I love him as a young adult struggling to find balance between the literal Light and Dark within him, figuring out where to forgive friends and where to get Angry at them, I love him as adrenaline junkie racing boy who finally gets to kiss the girl like he wanted to in the first game. THERE IS A LOT I LIKE ABOUT JAK AND DAXTER (though increasingly the collective fandom conscious is taking old men “mentor” characters to task and I’m here for it re: Samos as well), and if I didn’t have love for Jak or faith in his character, I doubt I’d be as hardcore about the series as I am. I do regret buying into the fake rivalry between this and Ratchet and Clank, but enh y’know. I’ll go back and play Jak and Daxter games despite the fact that they have some VERY UNFAIR moments because I want to relive my time with Jak. End of line.
8. Nita Callahan, from the Young Wizards series - I could say the other, more popular wizard in a children’s series. And for sure, Harry Potter was a big thing in my childhood, but as much as I grew up with Harry, and read every book as soon as I could, versus me only reading the first Young Wizards book for LIKE A DECADE, I can’t really pick him over Nita. Nita is real, her world is fixed in the real, while being just fantastical enough that I couldn’t possibly do anything but want to be there. She’s an East Coast girl, but I wanted so badly to see her streets, meet her Advisories, find the Wizard’s Manual in a familiar library, learn this sciencey magic that has focus on equal balance and the Language of the Universe. Nita can’t be mentioned without Kit, of course, they’re a pair, and they were both hispanic kids, which meant a lot to me (though nowadays I’m not sure if Nita actually is, or if I just assumed so because her name is Juanita; Kit definitely is). She was a pretty young kid, like 12 or so in the first book, and I always related to her being bullied and loving to read and being a kind of angry/indignant about people trivializing the bullying you go through. She was fierce and scared and I love her immensely. There was a description of her reading her Wizard Manual and applying a mental “stomp” to the information she was reading, trying to keep all of it in her head, and I to this day know that exact feeling. I’m no good as an academic, but I definitely apply that mental stomp to reading and lore. So she’s an important kid to me, I’m glad the book wandered somehow into my sphere of reading and that I picked up all the books now.
I just wanna do an honorable mentions already, bc then I’ll stop RAMBLING about why I like the character but then also I can list whomever the heck I want lmao lists stress me out for no reason
9. Luke Skywalker, from Star Wars - listen, okay, I’ve already said I’m basic. People probably would’ve said the same thing to me about liking Luke as they did about me liking Tidus, but I don’t care. I love Rey, I love Leia, I love the whole of the Rogue One cast, I have grown up with the Star Wars trilogy as the background radiation of my life, I liked going to see the Prequels in Hollywood (and thus getting out of school for the day), but it all started with the moisture farm boy of Tattoine and I’m a sucker for him. I absolutely had a crush on him as a kid, I’m sure, and I was legitimately UPSET when he died in The Last Jedi. I cannot begin to tell you how actually upset I was. He lost so much, he had to play a precarious balance between Light and Dark, he was a dreamer with sudden Purpose put on his shoulders, and what a burden it is to care so much and be told you can’t go save the people you care about. What an amazing amount of compassion!!! to give an antagonist a proper funeral despite all the pain he brought you before that. I care a lot about Luke Skywalker and I don’t care if that’s plain of me.
10. Aloy, from Horizon Zero Dawn - LISTEN, IT’S PROTAGONIST LOVING HOURS IN THE TEGA HOUSEHOLD. Also I started with a redhead so I’m ending with a redhead. I. Adore. Aloy. I love her wit, I love that my dialogue choices are never 100% what she’s going to say when I choose them, I love her compassion, I love her growing and changing, I love her journey, I love her world and the worldview she has. I am fascinated by all of it, and I’m glad to have gone along her journey with her. I hope I get to go on more journeys in the future with her! All these little things in this story about humanity, all her little errant comments to herself, all the things she goes through and pain and the compassion she shows, her browbeating those without compassion as she finds how Strong she is, the Purpose left to her in her very DNA, I just. It was so fulfilling to play the game and go through it with her. She’s a beautiful character and I love her immensely. If FF15 wasn’t worth me buying a ps4 for (which it was), then HZD was DEFINITELY worth the purchase.
(it took me so long to finish this and I’m not tagging anyone, this is already too long....)
