my hc is that the other elite 4 members gifted larry some pokemon to make his flying-type team bc he was instantly sent into despair upon being told he couldn't use his normal type team for three days, causing concern among the ranks

(its bc he has a routine, and having to find a new routine is hard)

but also theres no way larry sought out oricorio pom-pom style on his own. such a high-energy beast had to have been a gift from poppy. and then he has altaria, a dragon/flying type that was from hassel. and maybe rika got him the tropius.

and then the flamigo found larry. i don't think that one was gifted, it's incredibly haunting to me.
