This is Lucky! He is indeed very “lucky” 😍 On May 11, 2021 Lucky rolled and was trapped under the lower portion of his stall at his owners home. It happened in the middle of the night and Lucky struggled to escape. The owner called us that morning after he cut Lucky free and we rushed to go help. Lucky was down and unable to stand. He had a pelvic fracture and peroneal nerve injury. We used a truck to move him to our stables (first time in the history of this island where a vehicle was used to move a pony). Lucky was strong and wanted to survive so we worked very hard for many months on rehabilitation. Going from unable to stand…to walking on three legs…to limping…to swimming…to running! Today you would never know Lucky suffered such a bad injury. He is a resident here and helps us out by pulling a cart a few times a week bringing grass or rice bran. This keeps his mind busy and helps keep him in shape. In years past Lucky would have been slaughtered…but thankfully things have changed and we can help what often seems hopeless. Reisechaos ala Deutsche Bahn, bester Abend ever mit singen und Arak Tasting

Durch den Regen gab es die letzten Tage kein internet. Ich konnte also nicht schauen wohin ich als nächstes gehe. Also beschloss ich kurzerhand eine Fähre nach Padang bai zu buchen. Ab dem 17.10 hat die Regierung von Lombok (zudenen die Gilis gehören) neue Regeln aufgestellt. Es gibt keine direkten Schnellboote von Gili nach Bali. Man muss zuerst mit dem Public Boot nach Lombok und dort mit dem Schnellboot weiter. Die Organisation ist unterirdisch aber es funktioniert. Alle Touristen sind verwirrt, sie werden irgendwo abgestellt und aufgerufen wenn ihr Boot kommt. Ein wahres Chaos (ich fühle mich irgendwie an die Deutsche Bahn erinnert, nur sind die Mittarbeiter hier viel netter) im Public Boot heißt es einfach vertrauen. Vertrauen, dass es das richtige Boot ist. Vertrauen, dass es nicht kentert. Vertrauen, dass der Holzboden hält. Vertrauen, dass dein Gepäck im Boot ist. Vertrauen, dass dein Kopf nicht an den rostigen Nägeln in der sehr niedrigen Decke hängen bleibt usw.

In Lombok heißt es wieder warten und hoffen, das richtige Boot zu erwischen. Ein Boot mehrere Destinationen. Es sieht aus, als würde das Gepäck rendom verstaut werden, muss jedoch ein System haben das mit nicht ersichtlich ist, denn ich erhalte in Padang bai mein Gepäck.

Die Fahrt ist mehr als heavy. Mehrmals befinden wir uns im freien Fall, da wir queer durch die Wellen müssen. Wieder bin ich gottfroh, eine Tablette genommen zu haben und trotz Tablette nimmt mich die See mit. (Aber zum Glück gibt es die drei ???). Eine Frau neben mir übergibt sich beinahe die komplette Fahrt über. Irgendwann gibt einer der Crew Kotztüten aus. Ein deutscher Tourist schnappt sich eine der Sicherheitswesten und das ganze ist mehr als absurd.

In Padang bai angekommen kann ich nicht lange über den Boden unter meinen Füßen froh sein, da ich umgezogen auf 5 Metern 10 Mal das Wort Taxi um die Ohren geworfen bekomme. Lasst mich einfach in Ruhe denke ich und suche ein Warung auf. Selbst das empfinde ich als schwierig, da ich die 5 Minuten zu Fuß alle 2 Meter angesprochen, angehupt oder angehalten werde. Ich bestelle miegoreng und bin mir sicher, sie haben eines der Fertiggerichte serviert, als ich schon ein Angebot für ein Zimmer über dem Warung bekomme. Mein Internet funktioniert wieder, also ist klar, hier bleibe ich nicht eine Sekunde länger. Ich beschließe nach Amet zu gehen, einem kleinen Fischerdorf. Ich buche ein Bungalow und Frage im Warung nach einem Taxi. Hätte ich das heute morgen gewusst, hätte ich direkt ein Boot von den gilis nehmen können, das hätte mich weniger Geld und vermutlich 3 h weniger Zeit gekostet, aber so ist es nunmal. Also ins Taxi und los. Die Fahrt ist wundervoll, die Umgebung ist atemberaubend und wir fahren viele Serpentinen entlang. (Gut dass die Reisetablette 6 h wirkt)

Dort angekommen bin ich super Happy über die freundliche Begrüßung und den tollen Bungalow. Auf meiner Veranda macht sich der Hund der Besitzer gemütlich und Ich fühle mich super wohl, beschützt und bin super Happy.

Ich laufe im Dunkeln bei Regen am Strand entlang um ein Warung zu finden. Schnell etwas Essen und ab ins Bett, das war der Plan..

Ich bestelle ein einfaches Essen mit einem Drachenfruchtsaft und genieße die beruhigenden Klang der Wellen, als mich Wayan der Besitzer fragt ob ich singen könne. Dann sitzt er schon da und beginnt Gitarre zu spielen. Ich singe, er spielt und irgendwann holt er noch das cajon, das ich irgendwie versuche zum klingen zu bringen. Nach dem Essen kommt er wieder mit Arak und fragt ob ich auch wolle. Er füllt Arak in ein Schnapsglas, nimmt ein bisschen Honig, ein bisschen Limettensaft und Go for it. Ich bin überrascht, dass das so wirklich lecker schmeckt und beschließe nicht allzuviel davon zu trinken, da das aufgrund der süße echt teuflisch werden kann. So unterhalten wir uns mit Händen und Füßen, lachen, singen und trinken bis kurz vor 24 Uhr. Er verlangt 50.000 und ich gebe ihm voller Dankbarkeit 100.000. Einer der besten Abende in Bali. Solch eine Herzenswärme, solch eine Freude die er ausstrahlt wow.

Zurück im Bungalow, werde ich von meinem Hund empfangen und fühle mich unglaublich sicher, als sie andere Fußgänger anknurrt und mich freundlich begrüßt. Ich geselle mich zu ihr auf die Veranda und schreibe noch etwas Tagebuch und bin voller Dankbarkeit als ich ins Bett gehe.

Despite that he is showing marked improvement with NSAIDs, corrective shows, and therapy.
