For mood-lit European gastronomy, stop by Bistro Selle on Olive Street in Albury. This newly opened casual dining spot delivers a cosy, intimate ambiance where blond wood tables and black iron chairs meld together with charcoal grey napkins and hanging globes, to encourage guests to take their time over a seasonally-based menu of local produce. Settle in with a starter of scallop, chicken wing and corn chowder, or perhaps cured salmon with saltbush, smoked yoghurt and vegetable vierge, before tantalising tastebuds with mains such as beef cheek bourguignon with celeriac and mushrooms. LA SOSTA FREMANTLE 🇮🇹 // hand-made pasta for days 🍝❤️ Celebrated a friend’s birthday on Sunday here and had the following: (all pasta mains were $33) - Pasta del Giorno: Pasta special of the day: taglioni with soft beef cheeks - Tagliolini Neri al Granchio: Squid ink tagliolini with crab - Spaghetti alla Chitarra ai Ricci: Chitarra spaghetti with sea urchins, grape tomatoes - Pappardelle al Ragu’ di Agnello e Tartufo: Pappardelle, lamb ragu’, truffle paste, green peas, pecorino - Ravioli ai Porcini: Porcini mushroom ravioli, butter, sage - Lasagnole Gamberi e Pistacchio: Lasagnole, WA prawns, pistachio pesto - Gnocchi all’Anatra: Gnocchi, red wine braised duck ragu, orange zest - Grigliata Imperiale: WA grilled prawns, squid, cuttlefish, scallop, fish of the day, grilled vegetables $45 - Caprese di Bufala: Buffalo bocconcini mozzarella, heirloom cherry tomatoes, basil, olive oil $16 - Melanzana alla Napoletana: Fried eggplant, mozzarella, tomatoes, anchovies, capers (vegetarian option: no anchovies) $17 - Focaccia: Woodfired focaccia with rosemary, Sicilian sea salt, olive oil $11 Delicious and my favourite pastas were the beef cheek special and the squid ink tagliolini with crab. All of their pastas were al dente and none of the pastas were heavily-seasoned.
