So, I haven't really explained this to anyone yet, but things are gonna be a little ....different on this blog for the next few months.
Not by much, honestly, because I mostly just reblog stuff, not make many original posts...but I'm changing one particular bit of that.
My art
So, for those who've been paying attention lately, you know I have been very bothered by my stagnation and lack of progress in my art, particularly in the past few years. And I made my end-of-the-year ultimatum to either give up art entirely or start over from square one like a beginner.
It took a lot of thought, but I eventually decided to start over.
I've created a schedule for every single day for the next four months on how to keep upward progress in my art, but it's going to require me to draw things I hate drawing (realism 😩) and studying basics that I haven't visited in over two decades or not at all (because I'm self-taught).
But, knowing me, I am gonna struggle with this "revisiting basics" part the most of all, because when I already know how to do something, I hate having to learn it again, and so to keep myself accountable, I'll be posting something from my sketchbook work at least once a week.
This art will not look anything like what I've posted for quite a few years now. And what I've already started drawing this month for practice exercises happens to look...horrible so it won't be aesthetically pleasing, unfortunately.
BUT to keep myself motivated, I am still doodling things I actually want to draw on the side. Nothing digital this month, though (while I save up yet again for a functioning computer). I'm gonna do some small little projects along the way to try different mediums, new hobbies and crafting skills, but I'm gonna only really post anything once a week, and it likely won't look any good.
Just bare with me for a while on this. My hope is that relearning the basics will fix some fundamental issues I have (like never using references and same-face syndrome) and help pave the way to progressing towards simplifying my style, improving consistency, lessening my line mileage, and being able to animate a lot easier and efficiently.
Plus, it gives me a set timeframe to save up money, build a computer, get some new software to try out and get used to, and hop back into what I want to be doing with my art!
Fingers crossed it works, though.🤞
