IT’S SHIMARIN’S FUCKING BIRTHDAY

So for those of you not in the know, Yuru Camp was my anime of the season for Winter 2018 and as it currently stands (not for long though get hyped for Vento Aureo) it’s my favourite anime this year. Part of that obviously comes down to just how cute and relaxing it is, but the main reason I love it so much is because of Shimarin.

See, the appeal of Shimarin is very simple. She’s not too much different than your average lone wolf/introverted cute girl in any given anime. She’s obviously got all her quirks like “I will turn you to rust on my blade” and just generally being dorky and cute, but she’s not a character you haven’t seen.

Except - and here’s where it gets good - the show respects the fact that Shimarin likes to be by herself. Whereas other cute girl anime have the introverted girl be almost looked down upon unless she’s hanging out with the rest of the group, Yuru Camp tells us that Shimarin’s solo camping activities are just as good as group camping activities. When Shimarin goes group camping in the end, she has fun with it, but she goes back to solo camping afterwards. Neither is better, Shimarin just likes one of them a bit more.

And that means a lot to me. I enjoy the company of other people and stuff, but I like doing my own thing by myself just as much. For Yuru Camp to give me Shimarin and tell me she’s just as worthy of having her interests respected, it felt nice, especially in a climate where the introverted girls in cute girl anime are forced to become a people person from pretty much the moment we meet them.

And that’s why I love Shimarin.

Happy 1st of October, which happens to be both Shimarin’s birthday and THUNDERBOLT FANTASY 2 day. Also 4chan’s Birthday.

Highlights of today’s writing:

— started a new wip for orv! and it’s yjh’s pov, whoooo! 🎉 so happy because lol I couldn’t write him before but of course, I can when it’s for something that I have never expected. sigh. am surprised at this wip’s existence because no idea at all at where it came from. I just started to....write. DGJFKFD forget that last part, just remembered how I read this fic before so that’s where I got the inspiration lol.

— never expected it, but started to ship saiki/nendou because of this fabulous fic I read and...got inspired to start a saiki/nendou. nendou is such a delight, I love him so much. It’s an AU powerswap, where Nendou has psychic abilities instead and omg, I didn’t think writing Saiki with no psychic would so fun to write.

— added 65+ words to shimarin wip. :D they’re sooo cute, and renzou is an delight to write ✨I was scrolling down my docs when i was like, yeah. maybe I should open my shimarin stuff? so that’s that.

— actually worked on my bonrin wip. sigh. why are they so hard to write. no new added or stuff but played around with it, like edited and stuff. I have no idea what’s about or what direction it’s going so. no clue on how to continue.

— also I really, really wanted to start a new rinshi because I am having FEELS and because I don’t want to work on any of the WIPs I got. it was hard to choose on what to write, after flickering through numerous of prompt lists which didn’t help, I turned to grace’s beautiful art which helped a lot! so am writing a earth spirit shiemi with amnesia that meets the demon rin who lives deep in the woods. no set idea on what’s gonna on, as per usual. it’s going good so far.

— forgot not knowing on what rinshi stuff to write. started to a new wip. because of the ship ask I did. and I still have a lottt of ideas.

— was also in mood to writing some girls kissing and stupidly in love so started a izushie wip! gahhh and this one is so CUTE. it’s inspired by raven’s fic, kiss me please.

— that mood also spouted another wip but for another fandom, orv. wanted to gun for another soohee wip because im hopelessly in love with that pair. and because of HEEWON. she occupies my every waking though. just argh shes so good, and I love her so much. but I went for some jhw/ysa 👀. been thinking about them for some while...and wanted my hand to try at them, didn’t think I get really invested when I start writing lol.

— disappointedly that one didn’t have the level of uh making up that I needed so I started another wip. this time soohee and literally about them making out. i have been thinking about them a lot, and was like they definitely did hook up sometime in canon. WELL that is what was supposed to be happen. but now it’s a sort of canon-divergence and yuri/jhw and hsy/jhw???

— and well, that wip reminded of this idea I had with soosang where they would hook up every night. well not every night, but you get the gist and they are enemies in day. so. I started on that too.

— +18 words to birthday touken wip that I started yesterday. and +20 to this other one, post-marriage. not much. but it’s something.

— choose to jot down all my ORV ideas that I hope to write one day, which uh caused me to start another wip. hmo-centric, about him and his daughter and half-started another one, about ljh & her dead friend. I have so much feels
