I’ve always wanted a hat that has the fluffy halo effect which I chose for this project. I was gifted this yarn by a friend and I’m grateful because she has kept me expressing my passion for knitting. I loved every moment of knitting the hat from the yarns I chose, the chart which wasn’t daunting and the cabling without a cable needle that added speed.

Not really a "hat person" (except for the years I was a Red Hatter!), but this puppy took too long to knit to not show it off! 😜 It's an ingenious design and is reversible/double and therefore very warm - a great way to use up scraps and do a stripy version- but I needed to knit it using US 2 needles, and it's fingering yarn, so it's not a quick weekend project! It's the Musselburgh (and I think it's pronounced like Edinburgh - not "-burrow", or "-berg", but more like "-bruh", and I welcome any native Scots to pipe in here to verify/correct me! 😜) by Ysolda Teague, and knit in the gorgeous Legacy Fiber Artz Steel Toes base, colorway Hocus Pocus, and Sweet Georgia Tough Love Sock in the colorway Mink. I spent a lovely day on Saturday supporting the 'Learn to Knit a Curlew Hat' at The Sill. Using beautiful wool from Jamieson & Smith and a pattern designed for the RSPB, the group developed new skills to deepen their knitting progress. It is a crazy quick knit that only requires 1 skein of Loop Yin Yang Worsted, and 1 skein of our Homestead Worsted!
