ok so, explanation as to why we heard one gunshot and not three when elias killed gertrude: the killing shot was only one bullet, but after she died and the tape ended, elias shot her twice more like the overdramatic guy he is to make absolute sure she was dead

my proof? leitner was almost definitely dead about halfway through elias’ pipe-beating, yet he continued for like, several more seconds necessary. he’d totally shoot gertrude’s body two more times if he felt like it.
