Bezi ran his fingers over the molded leather and woven fabric that made up his gauntlet, swooping down into the sharp knife of a hawk’s wing, as he mulled over his thoughts. The armor was of fine make. Warm, bold colors; reds and gold fabrics with splashes of white, white machine plates stacked like scales with the occasional streak of paint. The helmet had the sharp shapes of a Stormbird with harsh fans to other side. Carja make right down to the last stitch and rivet.      It looked damn nice, and worked well with his sharp cheekbones.      Running his fingers over the gauntlet, he sighed and shifted his eyes towards the blue sky and the yellow sun that drifted lazily across it.      “Is that you, Apollo? Are you still here?” He snorted, thinking back to the celebration that the Carja had thrown for him; the welcome they gave him, the respect. They thought him sent by the sun. Hawks were important to them; the Hunting Lodge ranks, the shapes in their armor, and hawks were once sacred to Apollo. He couldn’t help but wonder.

Trade routes were never easy to establish, they usually required a lot before either party actually felt safe enough to try. Even when one was established, there was not a point one got to that was completely comfortable. No where was truly safe, merely safer. Even safer places still came with a thin line of tension, one aspect always vigilante, and Jackson was no exception.

Jackson had been worth the time needed to establish the route. It was one of the nicest communities in the region, easily one of the safest and that came as a relief. Getting to come in on occasion could make for a good nights sleep on a long, rough road, today in particular being one were that rest was needed dearly.

Aloy came into Jackson markedly rougher than she’d been in months.It was the result of a supply run gone wrong, an injury she’d needed to hide that took too much time on an already tight schedule. Winter was coming, and with Aloy even further up in the mountains that made preparation all the more important.

Her eyes sunken scanned the room, searching the group for him. The base had been damaged and Aloy knew Tommy had contractors in Jackson she could get advice from about the repairs. Aloy’s red hair fell over her shoulder as she turned to look, until finally she’d found him. Her walk began to slow and that creeping ever present tension grew tighter. His face was familiar, not in that she’d seen him in Jackson before but she swore she saw him recently. Aloy struggled to determine if she’d seen him on that same supply run, if. he had been the one to see her get injured, if he was the one to see her be bitten.

“ You’re Joel, right? “ she remained calm as she spoke, tried to keep a casual tone, but her stomach knotted with concern. “I needed to speak with a contractor, Tommy said you may be able to give me some advice?”
