my god FINALLYYYYY N and M got explained and i am VERY happy with what the truth ended up being

the game doesnt tell you the logistics of it bcuz THE LOGISTICS DONT MATTER BABEY! THIS IS SYMBOLISM TOWN

noah and mio as the personification of N and M's regrets and hopes.... emotional

i looove that afterlife sequence where mio is doing a grim reaper impression and noah sees all of N's life and mio asks him. "would you choose again?" bcuz that's what noah is. as much as N convinced himself (had to convince himself) that he made the right choice some part of him still wanted to chose again so of course noah would pick differently.

just like. a lot of great moments in this stretch of the game! i fuckin love how N just got what's coming. It was fun how comically evil and dead inside he was during the whole castle agnus prison sequence, only for it to be revealed that M spent that entire time just hoping N would give up the ghost and spend time with her. But he didnt. He was so obsessed with forever that he let now slide from his grasp. She didnt want eternity. She just wanted a little longer. God.

The M/Mio switcheroo made me HOWL jesus christ i was giddy. how meyneth of M. hmmmm. same letter. And so N continues the zanza tradition of eternity obsessed guys who are just assholes in very mundane ways

like i looove how N broke down also. that's karma bitch. but then again the game makes him a tragic figure by showing his backstory AND THEN calls him a coward because Noah Is N and if noah could chose differently so could N. that's tha point of parallels yea. also that flashback of N tearing the city down and M just yelling at him that he's torn down everything they've built

and CHRIST the reveal that N and M were part of the first ouroboros. i did cry a bit at the scene where N is saying goodbye to his son and then he destroys the city and its like. yeah he just killed his grandkids or whatever. chriiiist.

i'm a bit miffed M didnt have more screentime before all this to establish more that she well and truly hates what N's doing even if she still loves him. Like it WORKS but i wish she had more time before chapter 5 the same way N got built up as an antagonist

N Xenoblade Yandere Moments. that's what devotion does to a mfer. like i do do love how the same innocent feelings of love that Noah has toward Mio can get twisted into. that. like at some point for N it wasnt abt being close to M as a person anymore. it was just abt keeping her around as long as possible. From love to possession yeah? I mean. literally locking up M in jail bcuz of a switcheroo isnt a subtle metaphor. she just wnatrd to be with him a bit more but he was too blind to see it shbfjfbgjgn. wails.

tgis ended up mainly abt N and M cuz they are the first guys to noah and mio's second guys and i'm a slut for these kh-esque identity shenanigans. N and Noah are on the opposite end of the Same Guy spectrum as M and Mio which is so fun. N and Noah having their fuckin Ventus v Vanitas type beat meanwhile M and Mio pulled a Crimson King Adol fusion in the background. if you understood both of these you have good taste in video games. thanks.

hey what’s up it’s 2 AM and i decided that watching ‘everything’s coming up mellie’ would be a splendid idea.  except now i’m crying bc she??  just wants love??  she distances herself from people on purpose as a shield,  and she’s been hurt so many times that she can’t help it.  and she tries to be vulnerable every so often,  and really open up to fitz bc he’s awful to her but he’s really been the one constant in her life for 20 years.  and she doesn’t really know anything different.  they’re never really in love,  the marriage was essentially arranged,  and all mellie ever wants from fitz is some attention.  a little bit of care,  and affection,  and even a hint of what he gives to olivia.  but he keeps abandoning her and just being terrible,  and still she sits and begs bc she doesn’t have anyone else and yEAH there are the kids but she doesn’t want to burden them and she’s just aLONE and i want to give her a hug.  thanks for coming to this session of the ‘zanza loves mellie grant’ ted talk.

11 - Did you get any of the plot-twists spoiled to you before playing Xenoblade?: Nope! I mean, okay technically yes. But sometimes I can be really stupid and oblivious, and even though I was dropped some REALLY BIG hints, I still managed not to get it due to my sheer stupidity alone hah! I suppose being naturally dumb has its perks sometimes!

12 - Which character did you like the most?: This is one of those questions I can never truly have a solid answer for! I’ve re-played Xenoblade so many times, and I swear I have a different favorite of the main characters every time! They’re all very great in their own ways. But!! If we’re including non-main characters in this question, then Kallian and Alvis are solid faves forever.

13 - Opinion of Juju?: I’ve never minded him too much. He’s a little helpless, sure, but he’s got his own neat little arc with all the Colony 6 stuff! I think people make him out to be worse than he actually is. 

14 - Was there any scene which made you cry?: Aah,, It really might be a better idea to ask me which scenes DIDN’T make me cry, because I swear there are fewer of those. But regardless, the ending cutscene in particular always gets me pretty emotional.

15 - What’s your opinion of the ending?: Ah yes, speaking of! The first time I watched the game (watched a lets play before playing it myself), I didn’t really understand the ending all too well. But after playing it myself and dwelling on it for a really… painfully.. long time, I ended up understanding and also really enjoying the ending! It’s very bittersweet and it absolutely made me cry. Just seeing them all in normal situations after all of this is over, in a way beginning a new journey, it’s so lovely!

16 - Which character do you think deserved more spotlight?: KALLIAN. Listen, he’s actually one of the most important characters in the game, and I don’t think he’s often treated enough like it. I think it would have been really lovely to see more of him, hear more of his thoughts and how the events of the game affected him, and especially him interacting with Melia/Shulk/and various other characters. Also he’s really quite the dork if you listen to his lines and I love that. I’d love to see more of him.

17 - Did you want to kill Metal Face, even after it was revealed he was Mumkhar?: I’m pretty 50/50 on that one. I always love redemption arcs, and in truth, I’m VERY high-key a pacifist when it comes to the vast majority of things. But Mumkhar, he very well might have just been too far gone. He didn’t show (idk about feel) remorse for any of his actions. He loved to taunt, to gloat, and especially to put Dunban down. Clearly the dude has some issues to work through. But I suppose what it comes down to for me is whether or not it’s actually kinder to spare him. And in truth.. I think that’s a no in this case. 

18 - How do you think Xenoblade handled the two semi-love triangles? (Shulk/Fiora/Melia and Sharla/Reyn/Gadolt): 0/10 do not pass go, do not collect $200. The love triangles are really my one big beef with the game. I think the Reyn/Sharla/Gadolt triangle was handled better, personally. It started off feeling pretty forced, but in the end it did seem to work and I certainly don’t mind Sharla/Reyn as a ship! It’s really just the Fiora/Shulk/Melia love triangle that throws everything off for me. I had no indication before a specific line that Melia had any interest in Shulk other than being friends, Sharla and Dunban’s interference and comments were frankly weird and out of place, and the tension between Fiora and Melia then just seemed… so off-putting since I never really could get into Melia’s romance side of things. I’m very much a multi-shipper within the Xenoblade fandom, but Shulk & Melia just really don’t go together in my mind. However, I wish MOST of all that Dunban would stop making comments about Shulk and Fiora getting together. There’s like three of Dunban’s heart to hearts dedicated to that and I’m like DUDE. Let em sort it out on their own time, you’re just being weird about this. 

19 -  Favorite race in the game? (Nopon, High Entia, Machina, Homs, any Bionis enemies): High Entia! Probably not the most original pick, but I am just strangely attracted to these arrogant bastards with wings on their heads. (kidding, I love em, but they can be so incredibly stuck up)

20 - When heading towards the final battle, how did you react upon seeing our own solar system and then finally Earth?: I didn’t really understand it at first, but the second time I played it made a lot more sense! I think it’s very interesting, but honestly not very memorable. 

21 - Did you predict any plot-twists before they got more openly hinted at? (Like predicting Dickson’s betrayal before the “I feel bad about deceiving these kids” line): Once again, my own stupidity knows no bounds. I knew something was up, but the first time I saw the game, I took it very face value. 

22 - Is there any lore which you’d like to know more of?: Tons, actually! I loved learning about the history of Bionis in the game! But in a more narrowed down category, I would really love to know more about Alvis’s backstory. I have my theories, only somewhat backed up by the second two games, but it would still be nice sometimes to know more concrete things! Would definitely also help for me with writing fanfics. 

23 - Do you believe Zanza was redeemable?: Yes, actually. He was quite far gone, but I do think there were potentially things that could have ended up redeeming Zanza. The things he truly wanted could have been achieved in other ways. As Shulk said, his future and our future,, could have existed together. 

24 - Which of Fiora’s forms do you prefer – her Homs form, Face Nemesis form, Mech form, or Meyneth form?: Mech form! I mean honestly, she’s wonderful and beautiful in all forms. But Mech form is absolutely the most useful... and she makes for a very pretty robo-girl. Like y’all, I’m 100% gay and yet I’m still a little star struck when it comes to Fiora

25 - Is there any cutscene which stood out to you?: I really enjoyed the cutscenes from the second battle of sword valley. Kallian does indeed happen to be one of my absolute faves, so it’s easy to call me biased, but it’s so interesting to see his growth in the small moments you’re able to see it. He seems so much more confident here, so much happier than in other parts of the game. He’s doing what he believes is going to allow them to take the future into their own hands, and you can visibly see that it excites him! It’s cute!

26 - Which story arc is your least favorite?: Probably the whole Ether Mines thing. It’s not that the CHARACTER arcs were bad there, but the mines are just terribly boring. 

27 - Which line is your favorite?: “Your blade, it did not cut deep enough.” IT HAS SO MANY DIFFERENT MEANINGS LORD ALMIGHTY HELP ME

28 - Did you enjoy Riki’s role as a comic relief provider?: For the most part, yes! He’s a very enjoyable comic relief character! But I really appreciated his more serious moments. It’s refreshing to see comic relief with depth. Sometimes, on occasion, I wish he had more of those moments. But regardless, he’s well received to me!

29 - What’s your opinion of Shulk as a protag?: He’s such a good boy!!!! Okay, admittedly there are some Shulk moments I’m not overly fond of, and other characters I find more compelling, but he’s still really great and I wouldn’t have any other protag here!

30 - What’s your opinion of Zanza as the final villain?: EXCELLENT! I think having him as the final villain, it really summed up the whole feeling of the game, how changeable things are, and taking the future into your own hands.

officially reached the "perpetual screaming" part of my xbc3 playthrough

just beat chapter 4 and i gotta talk abt it or else i cant sleep

this was the point i rushed story and actually ignored sidequests cuz as soon as they said they're going to castle keves i Knewwww they were gonna meet melia and n and i HAAAAD to see that so bad

and oh boy. did it fucking deliver.

listen man at this point i was trying to get everyone to rank 10 in all the default classes so i accidentally went into the melia fight with THREE HEALERS + a healer hero and let me tell you. YIKES. sure did make reviving allies a cinch though.

also fun how they're n and m which is also the letters melia and nia start with. almost as if this was a deliberate choice to name noah and mio this way

n gets MORE mysterious as noah gets sudden migraines bcuz of him and like IS THIS A CLONE SITUATION OR NAH? cuz eunie remembered HER past life so hard it gave her ptsd (great payoff to that this chapter too as she has an Actual Panic Attack when facing D again, BUT she uses her fear to bamboozle D with taion's help and that was EPIC and COOL because JESUS CHRIST DID NOAH AND MIO JUST GET BISECTED? YAS GIRL CUT OFF HIS ARM)

where was i. i love eunie also. high entia bias from melia? perhaps. eunie is also just great.

noah and n. what is this. i compared this to the shulk n zanza deal before (i should not use just n to shorten and when i am talking abt a guy named n) bcuz the current vibes with the 100% confirmation of reincarnation through ethel rlly makes it seem like noah is a reincarnation of N when N is. still alive. which is what shulk was to zanza kind of.

i gotta go to sleep now but xenoblade plot makes me go bark bark awooga. maybe i'll actually check out a xbc2 longplay after this and brave the anime-ness of it all for Lore

i rlly like that each game is its own thing and it only tells u the lore you need for This Specific Story like xbc1 doesnt need to tell you abt timeline split shenanigans cuz its Not Relevant Here u just need to know there was a guy named klaus who blew up the world once but the broader lore is still THERE if u wanna put it together

Of course! I do hope you enjoy this! I had a bit of a tough time writing , but I loved the experiance! Thank you again for your request!

Robin and Shulk, in their relationship, were two special cases. In said cases, they had both been the vessel of an evil resting inside them.

For Shulk, it was a god who was once a simple scientist named Zanza, who had tried to kill Shulk and his friends, so he could go on with his cycle of death and rebirth, but before that, Shulk was told that Zanza was the one keeping him alive, without him, Shulk was a dead man. Literally. He had died during an expedition to retrieve the Monado, and the spirit of Zanza embodied him and made Shulk live.

For Robin, he was the vessel of the Fell Dragon, Grima. The only reason Robin was born was specifically for that purpose. Grima had stolen the futures of the Shepherd's children, and he wanted nothing more than to rule the world. In the final moments of the battle between Grima, however, Robin had to made a decision. Let Chrom deal the final blow and have Grima come back later in the children's lifetimes, and wreak havoc upon the world once again….

….Or Robin could deal the deathblow, but also killing himself as a result, since he and Grima were directly linked.

In the end, Robin dealt the deathblow, and was later found in a field just where he had met Chrom, Lissa, and Frederick.

The two had heavy burdens and dark pasts, but when they had met each other, they knew… They knew that their pasts didn’t matter at all. All that mattered was their future, and each other.

But that didn’t mean that they weren’t haunted by their past.

It nagged at them both, Shulk’s Monado a reminder of the God that had lived inside him, Robin’s markings on the back of his hand a reminder that he was nothing more than a vessel for a destructive dragon.

And today, especially, it bothered them both.

Robin could see something was wrong with Shulk, the way he was distracted, the way he seemed like he was distant. Robin knew it was probably about how Zanza used to be inside him, how he had used to be nothing more than an empty shell without his help.

But when he began to see Shulk looking more and more depressed throughout the day, Robin knew he had to do something. So, after dinner, Robin and Shulk headed back to their rooms. Shulk threw the Monado angrily on the floor, and sat on their shared bed, hands running through his hair.

A minute later, Robin heard soft crying coming from the side of the bed that Shulk was on.

“Shulk..?” Robin reached out towards him with his hand “Are you alright?”

“Don’t look at me! Don’t touch me! I’m a monster!” Shulk yelled, getting up and moving away from his boyfriend quickly. “Don’t touch me, Robin. I’m an empty shell. Nothing more than a forgotten husk and a used puppet. Zanza..Zanza used me. Used all of us. He used the man I only ever knew as a father. And he was living inside of me…! I’m a monster, Robin. Kill me now!”

“Shulk. Calm down-”

“I can’t!” The seer began to breathe heavily, and Robin rushed over and wrapped his arms around his love.

“Shulk, deep breaths. Deep breaths-”

“Don’t touch me!” Shulk said once again.

Robin let go of the seer and sat beside him. “Shulk, do you remember when I told you about how I was born?”

Shulk looked up, his eyes and eyelashes wet with his anguished tears. “No. I don’t recall.”

“I was born to be a vessel for Grima. In fact, that was the only reason I was born, really.”

Shulk shook his head. “But you’re not a monster, Robin. A monster who took innocent lives.”

“Yes, Shulk, I am,” Robin knelt down to Shulk’s height. “I killed innocent people too. I ruined lives. Caused trauma…” Robin couldn’t help but feel guilty for his actions, but he pushed the feelings aside.

“Shulk. Zanza may have been inside you, he may have been a part of you, but he is not you. You are Shulk. He is Zanza. You just merely happened to be a vessel for him. It doesn’t mean you are a monster like him. You are the sweet, intuitive boy I fell in love with,” Robin cradled Shulk’s face. “You grew up without any of his influence on your personality. And that makes you you, Shulk.”

“Robin... “ Shulk gave him a hug. “Thank you. I know.. I know you feel upset about being Grima’s vessel. The situation was worse than mine. He could use your body. Control it. But Robin, you aren’t Grima. You aren’t that damned dragon. You chose your own path. You forged your own way. And… Amd you saved Ylisse. And that doesn’t make you Grima. Not in the slightest,” Shulk said fiercely, the tears in his eyes replaced by a flame.

Robin hugged Shulk back, and then leaned in to give him a soft kiss. Shulk reciprocated happily, kissing the man of his dreams.

And the pair knew that if they ever felt like monsters or dragons again, all they needed to do was to remind themselves, I am not you.

And they certainly were not Zanza, nor Grima.

aa.. it’s a bit late but xenoblade de’s anniversary was yesterday..!! even tho i don’t have any new art (<-- too busy playing new pokemon snap) i still wanted to dump some pure, incoherent thoughts about my journey with it and why i love it below... it’s kinda a mess tbh so it’s under a read more ^^;;

(warning! this is long and contains xb1+fc and 2 spoilers)

where to begin... i was beyond excited when i was watching the direct that i started actually crying (i heard im not the only one!) when i heard the intro’s piano notes play over makna falls T_T and with other trailers we got that shot of alvis with his new necklace that confirms him as the third aegis which is cool! siblings confirmed :] the entire timeline had the same alvis pfp for a few days lmao. 

that also reminds me of the multiple times that the japanese account started posting renders of the party members + dickson, mumkhar, and alvis, and since they’re in well. japan. me and many others stayed up until like 4-5 am since they would release one every hour T_T i was so tired but i was so hyped up all night asdkljfh

oh yea! i actually got my copy on the 28th!? i remember i planned on playing some tennis that day with my friends but when it came in early i wanted to start it right then lmao (there was no hard feelings btw! they are #gamers so they understood and said it was fine to hang out later) im pretty sure i played it straight through throughout the whole week.... there might of been one day near the end that i was kinda slowing down for but overall it took me less time to beat since due to the new quest tracking thing (thank goodness! it’s the best feature that they added tbh) 

the models are very pretty!! im one of those weirdos who still love the original models, but overall i think i do like these a little more (i won’t go on a tangent but there’s a lot of ppl who think the original ones look Actually Disgusting no exaggeration like. cmon) a different tangent, but i even got my hands on some of the models at some point and got to practice blender a bunch :) i was wishing they would add tears to de but they didn’t, which was disappointing but it’s not the end of the world ig. also no new meyneth render or a zanza render at all please guys im begging

aaaa what else...... oh yea i actually crashed the game during the final boss! if im remembering correctly, i died to zanza, then tried changing the time to day (just to see if the skills would make any difference..) then it crashed! it was actually rlly funny, i didn’t actually care that i had to redo some stuff ^^;;

future connected!! as with other stuff, i tried not to get my hopes up that it would be some big connection to 2 or something, and yea! it was a perfectly average sorta story and didn’t connect to 2.. i kno there are some theories about the fog king but no confirmed ones lol .. i was curious abt gael’gar from the glimpse of him we got in a trailer, but he ended up not being that interesting lol. him jumping off a cliff at the end was. interesting. but there’s something in the back of my mind saying “he’s not dead” and well. i guess we’ll see. i at least like his design tho! overall i really liked fc for the music and also they seemed to put a lot of effort into the cutscenes which i really appreciated. also i love kino nene and the ponspectors i adore them more than you can ever imagine

and finally (?) i started a 100% playthru sometime after finishing everything, but only got to the beginning of eryth sea before taking a break T_T i’d love to pick it back up one day to finish...

i think that’s all ! im not sure if anyone will read this far but thanks..!! this was really just a huge thought dump and doesn’t really explain what i said i was gonna do, but in a way it does (?) cause i love it enough that i put so much time into it  _(:3」∠)_ idk what to say now... go play new pokemon snap it’s a lot of fun goodnight!!!!
