Why is the town tune jingle in melodic minor for some of the villagers? A few have the rhythm syncopated, which makes sense, but I wonder what determines what mode they use.

Hi bun! I’m a big fan of you writing and was wondering if you had any advice in regards to world building for fics? The universes you come up with (Wanted, A Well Oiled Machine, A Lullaby on Canvas) are just so cool!
i’m ashamed to admit that this is from two months ago but lets rejoice on the fact that I’ve finally gotten around to answering it!!! I’m sorry for the wait my love, please forgive me!! (also thank you!!!!
As for world building, hmmm.... I don’t really pay that much attention to how I do it if I’m being honest! Sometimes I will look up tools etc-- there are some really good resources for worldbuilding you can find online, especially for fantasy settings! I find that some of the questions they ask can really help in fleshing out your world.
Generally my worldbuilding (excluding wanted and tentacledipity) is on a bit of a whim. meaning that as i write, something will pop into my head to add as a tiny little detail of the world and I add it. I think this is a good way of doing it. If you spend a lot of time setting the world up at the start of your fic in a few paragraphs, it can sometimes be a bit of a chore to get through. I prefer to add little tidbits along the way instead of unload all at once, since I find it feels a bit smoother that way. Even for fics like AWOM where I worldbuilt somewhat on a whim, I also sat down and scribbled all the details and tidbits I could think of onto a few pieces of paper. I find it easier to have a physical copy next to me when i write so I don’t have to switch tabs etc but im sure something like onenote or an online word doc would work just fine :)
For things like Wanted and Tentacledipity, I spent A LOT of time worldbuilding-- mostly because it was fun to flesh it out more!!! for these ones I actually used some worldbuilding questions to answer (i cant remember which site otherwise I would link it for you but i recommend a google search to find one that suits you!). I ended up with literally pages and pages of information on kelkie etc, and that was INCREDIBLY helpful in every way possible. I’d prepared so much potential information that I never ran into a block for how to write the next chapter and I think that’s why I was able to crank it out so fast, as well!! having a lot prepared also helps when you want to throw little tidbits in as you go since you dont have to pause and keep track of them all :) In planning without questions to guide me, I generally just wack down every idea I have onto a few pages of paper and as I do that, my brain tends to expand on some of them, leading me down little mini rabbit holes if you will. I kind of just go with whatever way is easiest for me at the time lol
but yes!!! here is the very long and probably super unhelpful answer to your two month old question!!!! i’m sorry it took so long >
