Tumblr media
if at all possible, could you do some baby regressor ludwig headcanons OR a moodboard, whichever is easier for you. (if the moodboard, i think he'd like wooden toys like trucks, dogs and the color blue). thank you very much for your time!
Tumblr media
•Baby Ludwig is often seen with a pacifier, which he's quite attached to. It's his comfort item, and he gets a bit fussy without it
•He's a little mimic, trying to copy the actions and words of those around him, especially his older brother, Gilbert. This often leads to adorable and sometimes hilarious situations !
•Ludwig is curious about everything around him, but his curiosity sometimes gets him into trouble. He's a bit clumsy when it comes to exploring his surroundings, often tripping over his own feet or bumping into things
•Despite his serious demeanor as an adult, baby Ludwig is incredibly cuddly. He loves snuggling up with his plushies or with someone he trusts, like his older brother or his caretaker
•Baby Ludwig thrives on routine and structure. He feels safest when he knows what to expect, whether it's mealtime, naptime, or playtime
•He finds comfort in traditional German lullabies, often humming or babbling along to the melodies !
•Even as a baby, Ludwig has a stubborn streak. Once he sets his mind to something, he's determined to see it through, whether it's learning to walk or trying to reach a toy just out of his grasp
•Despite his serious demeanor, baby Ludwig has the most infectious giggle fits. It doesn't take much to get him laughing uncontrollably, especially when playing peek-a-boo or being tickled
•Even when baby regressing, Ludwig still has a strong sense of protectiveness, especially towards his family and those he cares about. He may not fully understand it yet, but he instinctively wants to keep them safe and happy !
•When Ludwig is non-verbal, he finds other creative ways to communicate and express himself like : Pointing, Facial expressions, sign language and picture cards
•Germany's favorite activity when age regressing is likely building things with blocks or stacking toys. He enjoys the sense of accomplishment as he creates tall towers or intricate structures, even if they sometimes end up tumbling down !
•Italy, when care giving him, introduces Ludwig to aspects of Italian culture, such as singing traditional Italian songs or preparing simple Italian dishes together
•He knows how to bring out Ludwig's playful side and create a joyful atmosphere
Tumblr media
•Sfw interactions only | read my dni !
•Don't repost and claim as yours ! Reblogs are okay but not reposts !

Hey! any advice on how to write autistic Gears? I want to portray it as accurately and respectfully as possible. thanks for your time! :)
okay so this took a while because. there's so much. sorry ;;
on things "canon" (mainsite) gears does/displays:
lack of emotional affect/expression and alexythmia (inability to discern what emotions, if any, that you're feeling) are an autistic symptom that gears is consistently portrayed as displaying. these can be stronger due to long-term stress/trauma or physical illness, and conversely calm down a bit after a long period of no major stress
alexythmia and reduced emotional affect are often upsetting, both to the autistic person experiencing them and the people around them. to the autistic person, they (usually) know they should emotionally react to a situation, and the lack of emotional response means that something is wrong. people around them tend to perceive them as cold and unsettling
gears is also portrayed fairly consistently as low empathy. the most important thing here is that being low empathy is not the same thing as being uncompassionate; it's just the lack of a strong mirrored emotional reaction to other people's negative circumstances
some autistic people have a very high pain threshold/don't react "normally" to pain, which gears is (at least imo) depicted with several times. this is the other end of the extreme of physical sensory sensitivity, and can lead to not recognizing injuries until long after the fact.
gears has difficulty with verbal communication. i guess the most important thing i could give you on this is how it feels to struggle to speak? sometimes, you know exactly what you want to say and the words feel like they're stuck/you can't open your mouth; sometimes (usually if you're feeling strong emotion of some kind) even stringing your own thoughts together feels like too much
on things not strictly canon, but probably good to know:
gears most likely stims in some way, shape, or form. stimming can manifest as basically any repetitive behavior that stimulates your senses; hand flapping and rocking are the classic examples, but things like tearing up paper, making repetitive noises, or chewing (on basically anything, although some things are probably safer than others) all count as stimming
stim toys are fairly cheap and mainstream now, and many can pass for office decorations, so it's possible he'd have one or more; fidget cubes, tangles, putty, and those little magnetic balls are the most common ones we've come across
small side note: stimming can be physically harmful. if someone knows what they're doing and observes this (in someone else or themself), they should redirect themself/the autistic person to stim in a non-harmful way
non verbal communication is one of the most important things gears has, and while in canon he's not depicted working on it, it's an aspect that we love to see and that's crucial in him maintaining positive relationships. this can manifest in so many ways: emojis, physical cues (both as in facial expressions if hes doing particularly well and as in taking someone's hand), drawings, noises (it's much easier to make noises than talk), and more we can't think of at the moment
it's not necessarily canonically explicit, but gears almost certainly thrives in routine/struggles with task disruption. "routine" doesn't necessarily imply a fixed schedule so much as a certain way of doing things, e.g. "i have to take my pills before i eat breakfast" or "i keep my notepad next to my computer when im using it". task disruption in this context occurs when that routine is impossible for some reason, and manifests both in a very stubborn internal sense of "i can't do (x) unless (y) and (y) isn't happening so i can't do (x)" and profound distress should you attempt to do (x) anyway
