TO BE KILLED TUESDAY JANUARY 25, 2022 AT 12PM: Hello, my name is #Sunshine. My animal id is #ID134444. I am a desexed #female black/white #cat at the #Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 1 years 6 months 2 weeks old. #134444 I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 1/10/2022, with the surrender reason stated as other. Sunshine is on the emergency placement list due to behavior. Sunshine is not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. She has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. Due to their stress levels, it is in her best interest to move out of the kennel environment and into a stable home as quickly as possible. She would do best in a home with adopters who are willing to give her plenty of time and space to adjust, and who have experience with helping a fearful cat adjust to strangers. What my friends at ACC say about me: I have lived with cats. I'm an independent kitty who likes to do my own thing. I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace. I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe. I am looking for a home with a patient person. Owner had Sunshine in the home since she was a small kitten but had to surrender due to inappropriate elimination. Previously lived with:: 3 Adults, 1 Baby, 1 other cat How is this cat around strangers?: When a stranger would come to the owner's home, Sunshine would stay hidden the whole time How is this cat around children?: Sunshine lived with an 8 month old child and would stay away from the child. How is this cat around other cats?: Owner had another female cat in the home and stated that both animals were playful and respectful around each other. Energy level/descriptors:: Low.
