IGCSE
Heyy everyone
So did CIE's IGCSE and *hair flip* got an A* in all my subjects.
So yeah I'm just tryna help. Fr.
Now listen u dont need to get an A* to be happy with ur grades. If those are ur goals then u go girl. If those are not u still go girl.
But my mum always says "Always aim higher than what u can get. Then you will reach the farthest u can go. Now go make another omelette for me."
Now a major thing I would do before an exam is open a candidate response, the qp, the ms and the examiner report.
Do each question, check with the markscheme, check the candidate response and assess where u are and then the examiner report.
I love this so much: https://paper.sc/
Examiner reports are a really underrated resource and are REALLY HELPFUL.
Use the 'IGCSE' reddit and discord server
IGCSE Notes – Soumya Pandey
Here are some of the resources I used and each subject tips
Maths:
Past papers past papers past pAPERS PAST PAPERS PAST PA-
Girl i cant tell u enough
Also makes sure to learn all the calculator tricks including the linear equations one, differentiation (the only ones I can think off the top of my head)
Make sure to practice past papers have good time management. Calm down during the exam. It'll all be fine.
(trust me i went and got bangs cause i was depressed about the way i wrote the exam and here we are)
Sciences:
Use the examiner report tip. Always always use the syllabus of each subject. And ofc past papers
Skill for Science Packs - Google Drive
Bio:
Drives:
IGCSE Biology (0610) notes from MS - Google Drive
bio
Chem:
Heather Houston - YouTube
IGCSE all chemical tests - YouTube
Drives:
chm
0620 Chemistry – Google Drive
Phy:
physics resources
Business:
Bs is one of the easist subjects cause of the repeated questions and the low thresholds. If there is one subject u wanna chose for fun let it be BS or EVM
EVM:
Smallest syllabus ever
Just do past papers you'll be fine
Ik everyone says that but thats cause its true
The same advice goes to ICT. Like the practicals are the easiest shit u can think of but a big mistake that people do is forget theory.
Study for theory and u get good marks.
English (1st language) :
My fav subject in IGCSE
It was sooo good
Always choose descriptive its just easier to score in
Go read books from good authors like Madelline Miller, Katherine Arden, and Ocean Vuong. Get phrases that u really like and copy them into a word document. Go through it before the exam and use it in the writing
You can also use: https://www.descriptionari.com/
Examiners' Secrets: Descriptive Writing (Mr Salles) - YouTube
Paper 1 video
---------
AND THATS ALL
To everyone doing their GCSE's
All the best
Just remember that it isnt everything. Year 10 and 11 is all about finding urself and having the time of ur life. I sure as hell did. And at the end of the day these results dont matter half as much as u think. Its not that they're not important. Its just that there are more important things in the world.
Go live ur best life before the A level train hits.

ok so I randomly remembered this short story I had to write on a few years ago at school and it’s quite will graham/abigail core come to think of it. It’s called night by alice munro and it’s in the igcse english anthology which I found as a pdf if that’s something that you’d be interested in reading? it’s about a girl in the 1940s who gets her appendix (and a small tumour) removed and seemingly as a result develops insomnia and intrusive thoughts about killing her sister. it’s very well written and the conversation she has with her father is quite touching
oooh I love the sound of that! if you have the pdf on you dm me the link please!!

Pursuing medical or psychiatric studies. Absolutely love biology and chemistry. Currently studying for IGCSEs. Will do IBDP for sixth form, much less time in the future ;).

I'm a massive introvert and have extreme social anxiety :). I'm trying to open up by using social medias. I’m open to little chats and I can help with anything related to editing.
I’m on the aro/ace spectrum. However, I’m not heavily invested into the LGBTQ community. I would prefer to avoid such topics. I do not know much about these.
I mainly use LumaFusion for editing, all of the newer “animations” are done in LumaFusion. Some older videos are made using InShot, which is similar to CapCut. I also have some experience with DaVinci Resolve, but still a novice.
Do Not Interacts:
I guess I should add these? So basically…
Pro-shippers
NSFW Posters
Pedophiles
Zoophiles
LGBTQ phobic
Meh, bad manners or dark humour are completely fine for me. You can be a boor to me, or even send death threats to me, I most likely wouldn’t care, except being worried about your mental wellbeing. But just don’t be an asshole to people around me, that’s taking things too far.

Hello :) how about 15 and 16?
15) why did you start writing? (Link to the prompt list)
Cliché as it may be, I started writing because of english class. Not sure if it was cause of the curriculum but every year in middle school we’d have a writing exam/project called “The Big Write.” They’d give us a sheet of paper where we’d have to write a short story or follow a prompt. Fast forward a couple of years and writing a short narrative piece was part of my IGCSE English as a First Language exam. From then it kind off stuck with me, as a way to destress and express myself. Eventually it came to be as prominent as reading within my life.
The final push for publishing an online story was my introduction to the world of interactive fiction. I grasped for that thread, so to speak, my connection to people sharing love for writing, characters and stories. So yeah, middle school might not have been the best years of life but I still thank the English teachers who fostered my love for literature and how to communicate where my voice fails.
16) are there any characters who haunt you?
Gus Anderson and Jack Miller from Michelle Paver’s “Dark Matter.” Detective Jacob Morris from Grimnoir by ProP. Without spoiling much of the books and stories, their stories really hit close to home and have been one of the few instances where I have physically cried over a piece of media.
Needless to say their stories catch me off guard on a good day and I end up having to write angst to compensate for a heartache caused by fictional men.
Thank you for the question!.

Homeschooling in India: Concept, Curriculum & More
Tumblr media
The coronavirus outbreak ushered in what may be the world's fastest-growing trend in homeschooling. Many parents have decided to continue guiding their children for education themselves, even after schools have reopened post-pandemic and vaccines have become widely available.
Homeschooling allows parents and guardians to direct their children's overall development outside of the confines of formal education. Parents decide what and how their children are taught, and they are not required to follow any school board's curriculum. In India, parents have the option of not enrolling their children in school or withdrawing their children from school if the school's approach does not fulfil their child's needs.
The homeschooling concept in India
The notion was developed in India for children with special needs who require additional parental assistance. Many parents experimented with the idea as concerns about a rigorous schooling system arose. Other factors include concerns about bullying, child abuse, ineffective teaching methods, and children's desire to pursue careers other than academics.
Homeschooling has been supported by edtech companies that carry the curricula of various educational boards like ICSE, IGCE, Cambridge, etc. While most parents use homeschooling online platforms to assist their children understand a variety of concepts, they avoid restricting their children to the curricula.
The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act of 2009 mandates that all children complete eight years of formal education, although it does not mention any other options.
Proof of competence is required for homeschooled students to be eligible for higher education in India. This can be accomplished by taking the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) exams, which provide Open Basic Education to children aged 14 and up. Children can take A, B, and C level exams, similar to Classes 3, 5, and 7, or Secondary Education Course and Senior Secondary Course exams, which are equivalent to Classes 10 and 12. They can also take the Cambridge Assessment International Examination's International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) (CAIE). Children are eligible for college entrance after passing any of these tests.
With the growing popularity of homeschooling in India, open education and learning have become more formalized to ensure that students receiving this type of education do not fall behind. Major academic institutions, both domestic and international, have joined this learning alternative. The two influential organizations linked with homeschooling in India are listed below.
The concept of open schooling
The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) is an open learning board in India that allows students to continue their education at home. This board enables parents to homeschool their children and complete significant exams such as class 10th and 12th exams. Students must register with the board, and the certification acquired through the board's tests is equivalent to that of any other board in the country. It provides education at many levels and places a strong emphasis on vocational learning and formal education.
The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is an internationally recognized qualification for homeschooled students. It is held in the 10th grade and has many phases to assess a child's learning from the beginning to the end. Candidates can sit for the exam as private candidates and acquire a globally recognized qualification.
The admission process of learning from home
The decision to learn from home is the first step because there are further stages to take after you've decided on an educational path. The procedure for applying to learn from home in India is detailed here.
Approach a school that permits pupils to apply as a private candidate. The school should be affiliated with one of the open learning boards and be one of the open learning from home platforms and provide students the opportunity to continue their education in their choice of time.
After that, the main focus is on determining whether to teach yourself or hire a private teacher.
The child can comfortably pursue their schooling while also focusing on developing their talents in other disciplines.
Benefits of Homeschooling in India
Homeschooling or learning from home provides the room and scope to develop and foster a child's potential when the traditional education sector becomes increasingly rigid and inflexible. Some of the advantages of homeschooling that you should be aware of are listed below:
It allows parents to tailor their children's academic learning, allowing them to develop their talents.
The child has a better comprehension and stronger conceptual underpinnings due to paying more attention to details.
The kid's requirements can be considered, and milestones can be established to allow the youngster to develop at their own rate without being rushed.
It provides the flexibility and freedom to pursue one's passion and thrive at it.
Because it has become more regimented, it does not cause a child to fall behind and is comparable to any other form of education.
Parents who homeschool their children believe that as India begins to value uniqueness, homeschooling will become more popular. These homeschools are now centered in urban areas such as Pune, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Delhi, and Chennai. Make sure it's accredited by an agency recognised by the government or your state. Not all programs are accredited in every state, so check! Many schools list their accreditation status on the home page of their websites and in marketing materials. Having said that, 21K School is India’s leading online school that offers transparent quality education, regardless of the situation and location. It is a recognised and accredited K-12 School offering Indian, American and British Curriculum online for students aged 3 to 18 years in India and abroad. The online model allows learning from anywhere and hence also allows parents to evaluate their child’s progress from anywhere and at any time. Visit today to enrol.

ThankYou
hey, good evening ma'am :3
y'know i actually wanted to get you some cake, i realized i never really did anything for your birthday which kinda sucks but oh well, we can't all get what we want, instead, take this emoji 🎂 and the idea of a cake, after all, it's the thought that counts.
you asked me what my favorite class was and at the time i couldn't recall (moyaimoment 🗿) but i did some thinking and three particular things came to mind, well, to classes and one assignment thing.
i remember that time you took us down and had us sit near the football ground and just write descriptives, i loved descriptives, thank you for showing me how to do that. another "class" i loved was that time you had us write to each other, it was something around the end of ninth grade where you had us, well, write about each other on this one piece of paper and you'd do the same for all of us, you know, i still have that paper in a corner in my drawer, it means a lot to me. my favorite assignment in my entire student life was, by far, that time you had us write that really long thing, i dug deep and put and connected thoughts in a way that i'm proud of now, thank you for that, thank you for giving me the opportunity to think in a way i hadn't really before, learn about myself, and make a genuinely good piece of work that i can be proud of to this day (rule of three :O) here's the link to it if you'd like to read it, https://docs.google.com/document/d/103lOm91Wt7haJLsjcm-CyH9w4IRK510sPAklH0B_4IY/edit?usp=sharing
NOW THAT THATS OUT OF THE WAY
can i just say thank you, i think, if i personally had the choice to do it all again, i would, i would a million times over, in a heartbeat, without a second thought and that's because well, everything thats happened has led me to where i am now no? i'm pretty happy right now.
thank you, you've had a genuine effect on me as a person and i don't think ill ever forget you. thank you for being there and thank you for being probably the best teacher i've ever had.
dude, im so freaking lucky to have had you as my teacher, really, thank you for being my teacher.
thank you.
I'M NOW GOING TO SHARE MY FAVORITEST SONG EVER WITH YOU AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, I'M GOING TO TAKE EVERYTHING I JUST TYPED DOWN BACK https://open.spotify.com/track/4v1uXnRP235cDKXHuYXR61?si=93f595f3e9704098 ultimately, by khai dreams
p.s. wow i was NOT in a good place when i made my last entry, that's crazy bro
p.p.s. (post-postscript) if at any time on your hippie experience, you'd like to talk to some 17-year-old boy you taught igcse english to, i'd love nothing more than to be that person.
really. thank you.
p.p.p.s. (post-post-postscript) the lack of capital letters is a choice, i'm like e.e. cummings like that

A Comprehensive Guide to Selecting Top IB and IGCSE Schools in Electronic City
Embarking on the journey to find the perfect educational institution for your child is a significant step towards shaping their future. For families residing in Electronic City and seeking an international education, the International Baccalaureate (IB) and the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) stand out as exemplary curriculums designed to cultivate inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring individuals. However, navigating through the options to discover the best IGCSE schools near Bannerghatta Road or the premier IB schools in Electronic City demands a deep dive into several pivotal factors.
Essential Criteria for Choosing an IB or IGCSE School
Academic Excellence and Curriculum Design: Opt for a curriculum that is not only globally acknowledged but challenges students intellectually, promoting a passion for learning and an environment that nurtures inquiry and critical reflection.
Faculty Expertise and Passion: The caliber of education is directly linked to the faculty's expertise. Seek out schools with faculty members who are not just academically qualified but are also enthusiastic about teaching and capable of fostering a dynamic learning environment.
State-of-the-Art Infrastructure: Exceptional learning experiences are often facilitated by cutting-edge facilities, including modern laboratories, comprehensive libraries, and spacious, technology-equipped classrooms. Equally important are robust sports and arts amenities for students' all-around growth.
Supportive Learning Environment: Top schools offer extensive support services, such as counseling, special education assistance, and a plethora of extracurricular activities, ensuring every student's needs and interests are addressed.
International Exposure: In our interconnected world, exposure to diverse cultures and global perspectives is invaluable. Schools offering international exchange programs, overseas trips, and platforms like Model United Nations (MUN) are preparing students for global citizenship.
Proven Academic Track Record: A school's history of academic achievements, including examination results and alumni successes, speaks volumes about its quality.
Values and Community Spirit: Institutions that cultivate a sense of belonging and instill core values such as empathy, integrity, and respect significantly impact students' personal growth.
Convenient Location: For residents of Electronic City, choosing a school in close proximity or well-connected areas like Bannerghatta Road can ease the daily commute, benefiting both students and parents.
Showcasing Excellence: Distinguishing Features of Leading IB and IGCSE Schools
While specifics may vary, parents should prioritize visiting schools, interacting with faculty, and consulting with fellow parents to identify the institution that aligns best with their child's educational needs and family values. The ideal schools excel not only academically but also in creating nurturing environments where students can flourish both personally and socially.
Innovation in Education
Premier IB and IGCSE schools in Electronic City are characterized by their forward-thinking educational methods. Embracing project-based learning, technological integration, and an emphasis on critical thinking and problem-solving equips students for both academic and real-world success.
Character Development Focus
Beyond academics, exceptional schools emphasize character building, guiding students towards understanding the importance of leadership, empathy, and community engagement. These experiences are crucial in molding individuals ready to contribute positively to society.
Future-Ready Learning
In an era of rapid change, preparing students for the future is critical. The finest IB and IGCSE schools in Electronic City offer a curriculum that is academically rigorous and relevant, ensuring students develop essential skills such as adaptability, teamwork, and digital literacy, positioning them for success in the 21st century and beyond.
In summary, choosing the right IB or IGCSE school in Electronic City involves a multifaceted analysis of various factors. By prioritizing the above criteria, parents can make an informed decision that best supports their child's educational journey and overall development. The ultimate aim is to foster not just academically successful individuals, but also well-rounded, globally-minded citizens.

What I read in 2023
2023 was a funny year for reading. I didn’t finish that many books – just 43 altogether, including one I read twice, and only one of them in Chinese.
There were various reasons for this. One was that among the books I did read were Ulysses and almost all of The Brothers Karamazov, both long, slow reads. I loved The Brothers Karamazov (my note on it here) – among the most fantastic tales I’ve ever read (actually reread – this was the second time round). Ulysses I also liked a lot. I wouldn’t go as far as Anthony Burgess, who in the blurb on the back declares it to be the greatest novel of the 20th century, but it’s one of them. It also laid down a standard for experimentation which more writers since Joyce should have tried to surpass; reading it made me think how conservative 99% of novelists are.
Another reason for my low books-finished total was that a good part of my reading time was spent on four text books – for International Baccalaureate physics and IGCSE physics, chemistry and biology – all part of trying to get a handle on what two of my kids were meant to be learning, and none of which I actually finished (though I did finish the IGCSE trio a few days ago; I’ll add a note on them soon). All four required close attention, frequent rereading of definitions and dense paragraphs. If it hadn’t been for the Internet and especially many YouTube videos, I wouldn’t have been able to handle the IB book; the IGCSE ones were more my level. I think I could pass all three subjects, though I wouldn’t score particularly highly.
As for the Chinese, I did read most of another book and spent more time reading news. But I also took a bit of a break. And the one book I did read, Selected Essays by Zhou Zuoren, was tough going (as I noted here).
As in 2022, I didn’t manage to keep up my 2021 practice of writing around 250 words on each book I read – again, I’ll blame my textbook reading. The ones I did have links. This year I’m going to give it another go.
The standouts
Non-fiction
Odd Arne Westad, The Cold War – a tremendous global history of the 1945-90 period.
Pamela Kyle Crossley, The Manchus – the unlikely people behind China’s last imperial dynasty.
Timothy Snyder, Bloodlands – the terrible history of Ukraine and the other lands around it from the 1930s to just after the end of the second world war.
EB Sledge, With the Old Breed – a Marine’s experiences on two islands in the second world war.
Napoleon Chagnon, Noble Savages – an anthropologist in the Amazon in the 1960s whose findings upset a lot of other anthropologists.
John Gribbin, The Reason Why – that intelligent life exists at all is miraculous; we should care about it (ie, us) a little more.
Bas van Bavel, The Invisible Hand? – why markets can’t be the answer when they make people rich and powerful.
Colleen Carney & Jack Edinger, Insomnia and Anxiety – a book that has made me sleep better and worry less.
Fiction (aside from Ulysses and The Brothers Karamazov)
Mohsin Hamid, The Last White Man – a masterpiece in just 180 pages.
Annie Ernaux, A Man’s Place/The Years/A Woman’s Story/“I Remain in Darkness” – more than worthy of the Nobel prize.
Honorary mentions
Vaclav Smil, Energy and Civilization – Smil is right: energy underpins everything (though it’s not the only thing).
Chris Miller, Chip War – exactly how books should be written about big, important topics.
The list in full
Patricia Lockwood, no one is talking about this (I loathed this book)
Mohsin Hamid, The Last White Man
Sean Carroll, Something Deeply Hidden
Charles Yu, How to Live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe
Odd Arne Westad, The Cold War
Fyodor Dostoyevsky, The Brothers Karamazov, I
Frank Fraser Darling, Island Years

Doris Lessing, Ben in the World
Annie Ernaux, A Man’s Place
Doris Lessing, The Fifth Child
Avram Alpert, The Good-enough Life
Joseph Angelo, Gaseous Matter
Cormac McCarthy, The Passenger

Mastering Physics: Your Personalized Online Journey to Success
A lot of the time, physics is the subject that stands out as both interesting and hard in school. Online classes have changed the way schools work because they let students learn physics in their own way, from the comfort of their own homes. This is because teachers know how important it is to give each student their own help.
An online IB Physics tutor is like a bright light of knowledge; they plan lessons, give one-on-one help, and help students prepare for tests in a way that fits the IB system. Through fun lessons and individualised comments, students can learn more about tough topics like physics, electricity, and quantum mechanics. They will do better on their IB tests because of this.
Tumblr media
They can get help from an online IGCSE Physics tutor in the UK to fill in the blanks, clear up any questions, and feel better about their physics skills. By using new ways to teach and fun things, these teachers give their students everything they need to do well on IGCSE Physics. This makes sure that students can easily move on to more difficult stages of schoolwork.
For kids who are just starting school, the O-Level Physics programme is a good place to start. O-Level Physics gets students ready for further study by focusing on basic ideas and how they are used in real life. An online O-Level Physics tutor helps each student in a way that is unique to them.
Every good student has a dedicated teacher who helps them along the way by giving them tips, understanding, and drive. They are very helpful for helping students learn and grow when it comes to teaching physics online. On-line physics tutor give students useful information, helpful comments, and personalised study plans because they are trusted teachers and experts in the field.
Finding the best physics online classes can change the lives of students who want to learn this hard subject. These teachers help their students do well in school because they are skilled, committed, and love what they do. They give you individualised lessons, focused help, and a helpful learning environment, no matter if you're studying for a hard test or looking into more advanced topics in the subject.
Tumblr media
When it comes to quantum physics, relativity, and thermodynamics, students need help from professionals in order to fully grasp the material. An online university physics tutor helps students make the link between theory and practice by giving them one-on-one help, making ideas clear, and giving them test-taking tips. If you want to learn about the latest studies or do hard maths, an online university physics teacher can help.
A lot of people think that physics is a tough study with lots of maths and ideas that are hard to grasp. But physics is really just the study of the rules that govern the world. With the right help, anyone can get it. A physics tutor at a university breaks down hard ideas into pieces that are easier to understand by using everyday words and related examples. These teachers make physics easy for all of their students, no matter what they already know or how much they already know.
