lantern - how did you meet your best friend? What were your first impressions of each other?

i am lucky enough to be blessed with so many best friends in my life that i cannot choose between so i'm gonna try to quickly and briefly summarize the four i am closest to at the moment (so much love to all my other dear beloved friends if i talked about all the people i count as best friends i'd be here all week <3333)

jamie- had a bunch of friends in common and stared talking eventually after following each other on here, and then really got close when we both wrote for the d20bb last year and they helped me power through and finish it ksjfvnkfjb and we just clicked and didn't stop talking <3

k (irl friend)- literally ive known her since kindergarten and i dont really remember my first impression of her but we got close for the first time in the third grade when we were in the same class <3 and then i imprinted on her like a baby duck in middle school when all my other friends dropped me 😵‍💫 and now she's stuck w me forever

shy (irl friend)- we had friends in common freshman year but didnt really become friends until sophomore year when we ended up in a class together and sat at a table together and got on like a house on fire almost immediately (its a miracle our teacher didnt separate us bc we did not stop talking and giggling to each other the rest of the year)

casey (thats you 😳)- we were in the same av discord for a long time (which i didnt realize for an EMBARRASSINGLY long time bc your discord @ is a nickname i didnt know whoops) but we didn't start talking one on one until i started watching d20 and saw you blogging about fh when i was in the middle of watching fh1 for the first time and i barged into ur dms desperate for someone to talk to about d20 and you were lovely enough to let me talk <3 and i have never stopped <3 and the rest is history mwah i adore u

AUGH JESS I'M SO GLAD YOU'RE LIKING SANDMAN!!!!! it's one of my favorite series of all time and aifjoaiewjfaoiwe the netflix show is such a perfect adaptation i'm so happy people can discover it and fall in love ;w;

you are actually one of the big reasons why i wanted to watch, because i saw a couple of the posts on your blog about it being a favorite of yours!!! <333 it's absolutely lovely and i'm enjoying it so much! i've never had the chance to read the comics, but have heard about them for years, and it's such a cross-section of fantasy/horror that appeals to me. (and semi-adjacent, i loved good omens, though that novel i had read, and knowing neil gaiman was directly involved with sandman's creation/transition from page to screen told me it would probably be good, and that definitely seems to hold true!). i'm not kidding when i say my teenaged self would've been very swoony over dream lol (as if i am not still my teenaged self at any given moment 😳🥰), and the themes of humanism and introspection and all the things that drive and shape us are of course always intriguing to me. i'm so glad that it turned out well for fans like you who have cherished it for years, that's the best feeling, seeing something you love being discovered anew!
